i am a pianist, composer, improviser, performing artist and a multitasking musician in life, currently living and working in reykjavik. i was born 1978 in seydisfjördur, iceland and have been playing the piano and keyboards since age of 9. my main focus and interest is in improvisation, composition and performance of music. how improvisation and composition can meet effortlessly as a creation of musical ideas and sounds. i am also thoughtful of the general passion & drive behind creation of things, in what way they are presented and passed on to people, in music, arts and life in general. since childhood i ve collaborated with a whole spectrum of artist, from obscure troubadours in the countryside to stadium bands, covering all fields og music, both in iceland and abroad. i have also composed and arranged a great deal of music for theater, film, art installations, performances and videos of all kinds. released my first album rask in 2002, and now i am currently composing and working on a series of records with solo piano music for radio bongo with improvised piano works i (broadcast01) as the first radio bongo release.

eshu records returns, after a succesful first release, with a 4 track ep that shows the many sides of the techno spectrum eshu records admires. an excellent selection with tracks from mattias fridell, tomas rubeck, myles serge and imugem orihasam. a nice list of talented up and coming producers from all over the globe (sweden, detroit, uk, germany). smoking techno tracks with influences from detroit techno, duuby berlin sounds and more straight forward club bangers. worth the check!!

the cl interpretations, based on the sixth melted recordings release cl versions of echtzeit, were firstly divided into two sucessful releases: part 1 and 2. now that more artists of circle of friends of melted have done their own interpretations, a third part was released. this time all tracks were based on the same track three, but now with a wide-spread spectrum of techno – from melodic, deep and dubtech to harder, diffused and current state of the art techno. monomood, known from the melted recordings friended label etui records, starts with his constructive warm and melodic rebuild called 3cl of echo. also aerror is here into deep dubtechno, much different as his last version of part 1. sector varied his track for part 1 into a more deep dub but kicking techno track terminals rmx. bassart, an austrian techno and electro dj, comes a with highly diffused hard techno interpretation – his first vinyl appearance. it is the first techno track (called cotta re-dub) of bons on vinyl, too. he is in the circle of friends and supporter of melted for many years, since the start in 1999.

if you have been following graeme clark in his solo disguise as the revenge or the stream of 6th borough project 12-inches leading up to this one, you should know what to expect here—deep, blissfully hypnotic sampledelia with track flows governed by the laws of extreme repetition. its a shame that trance means a particular subgenre of electronic music, because that term applies just as much to the effects of these tracks as anything tiësto has ever played.
given the space, clark and craig smith are able to utilize this formula over a broad musical spectrum, creating music in the full-fledged sense, one that traces a landscape of tempos, styles and emotions and a menagerie of resurrected sounds conjures up images of dusty record shops and tattered vinyl, musical spirits captured on wax. awesome!

sonic groove welcomes close friend henning baer to the sg artist roster. henning is one half of the team behind one of berlins most successful techno events - grounded theory. he along with milton bradley also owns the recording label k209 which has released his own solo work. henning makes his debut on sonic groove with >drop out< ep. a stunning 4 song release that spans a wide spectrum of dark, deep, gritty, analogistic industrial techno & rhythmic noise sounds layered over 4/4 and broken beat rhythms.

2011 was a banner year for borrowed language – both the split 12 inch from jeff pietro & israel vines (blx-2 distance no object) and jeff pietros definitive >still< 10 inch (blx-3) garnered plaudits from all corners of the globe and were charted and played by the likes of surgeon, miles whittaker (of demdike stare fame), peter van hoesen, xhin, and many others. we kick off 2012 with this astonishing 4-track ep from detroits justin ivey, and if this is anything to go by, its going to be a hell of a year… justin ivey has been making uncompromising and challenging electronic music as dj adjust (and lowsh as well as theek) since the nineties, and he is also the founder of the beloved and highly influential cult imprint low res. while low res has always released records that reside somewhere on the extreme end of the electronic music spectrum (i.e. davros and ablecain) ivey isnt a purist - in fact, he is a true enthusiast of all types of electronic music, and it certainly shows on this 4-track ep.

focusing on low slung house music full of swing and swagger, jordan peak has a knack for creating raw analogue charm and already encompasses a growing spectrum of sounds. currently in the midst of a speedy ascent through the production ranks, his output already includes an intriguing set of releases, for a uk act, on labels such as robsoul, raum...musik, saved and tsuba. this is quite an introduction to music making, considering that jordan only released his first record in late 2009.

since the last senking album >pong< (r-n122) was a great success in 2010 and sold out quickly raster-noton swiftly asked for a follow-up of massels sound cosmos. on >tweek< senking again reveals his sense of cineastic atmospheres and dark abysmal depths of sound, which are subordinate to extremely slow choky basses and delayed beats. references to dubstep are rather the result of testing the outlying areas of the frequency spectrum than a direct relation to the genre. nevertheless it seemed very obvious to release senkings sound on 12inch vinyl to follow the footsteps of >plasticstar< (r-n081) and >pruitt igoe< (r-n124), >tweek< is meant to be a dj-tool for a club environment. >tweek< refers to a character of the well known us series >southpark<, who plays with feelings of incertitude and nervous decease. the album documents the eagerness to experiment and indicates astonishing ideas shining through the dark substance. the tracks even reveal cheerful and comical features.

detroit artist jason fine is back with a follow up to his critically acclaimed future thought album. the master of the introspective and personal techno sound gives us another killer release, once again transforming daily life experience into beautiful and moving deep techno and house. jason fine continues to play around with layered melodies and harmony mixed with raw and funky drum programming. the ep opens with the track orange, a beautiful monotone organ based techno track, revealing hard times. violet continues in the same vein. blue melodies play around over minor organ chords and heavy kick drum. on the inner tracks blue and red jason with confidence moves into the electro territory, still keeping emotion and atmosphere up front. even though the concept behind this ep is the full color spectrum, the mood is all over blue.

praezisa rapid 3000 are robert guschel, david junghans and henrik jacobsen. coming from different styles of music they found each other to start making music. loving techno, drum & bass, dubstep and indie they created the praezisa-sound: complex, harmonic, organic, which eradiates quickness through native instruments. in doing so there is much humor in this supposed to be earnest music. this ep tries to depict the spectrum of what the three guys love: from bass-music to easy listening – and house: good guy mikesh & filburt, known through releases on permanent vacation, liebe*detail and mirau give the debut of praezisa rapid 3000 a remix.

maybe >grandfathers clock< is the most house influenced release from the german duo piemont so far. going more deep dirty and housy this time... they turn towards a more relaxed and slack approach. chopping up bits of vocals and sounds, tight and funky, this is what piemont is all about. >running mirror< refers to giorgio moroder respectively hi energy influences and is a hypnotic cool groove monster that will convert spaces into soulful places. frederic and christian have released a good dozen of records now and have been very successful. with >peak time tracks< such as >carbonat< being played by the whole lot of ibiza djs and big names around the world. >running mirror< definitely manifests a turning point in their musical spectrum... to deeper grounds of electronic dance and will get other djs involved in their manifold world of music.
