kicking us off on the dark side of this themed 12 inch >dead by dawn< a terrifying piece of horror film inspired d&b lunacy that has had thousands of ravers quaking in their sneaks over the past few months. the intro sets the tone with sparse snares rattling around the mix, eerie samples and a classic b-movie sample before the drop, and boy does this drop! no need to hang about as the short kick roll and spoken >dead by dawn< sample signal the arrival of a disgusting b-line with clattering drums and whiplash fx. watch for the wicked edits and other-worldly sounds dropping in throughout that round this off nicely. smacks it every time!
adopting the jekyl & hyde approach lemonde then changes tact on the light side to soothe our souls with >nobody<. leading us into a crisp skipping break, the man himself provides some sweet nobody does it like you vocals and before you know it the rising filtered bass riff and tough twostep beat has taken us away on a smooth, melodic journey to heaven and back.
all in all a very welcome, stylish return by one of d&bs coolest cats.
