the a-side kicks off with 19, a soothing track with a strong presence of modulated synths and pads, perfectly balanced with deep basses and kicks. its continual bassline only encourages the rest of the instruments to develop organically, making this one a very special journey throughout its length. the b-side 21 is more influenced by techno with heavier kicks and basses. the duo use trippy sonorities to catch people’s attention but beware: this track will even make your grandparents boogie!

gathaspar has been making a name for himself based on his productions for labels like thema and freude am tanzen as well as his live sets (im not a dj) in some of berlins most respected spots like panorama bar and watergate. amam cant resist his detail-oriented grooves, either, so now were jumping in on the action, releasing the vaporizer ep.

mallorcas dakpa has been on a roll since amam released his debut ep last fall. he has contributed to several compilations, including amams own hand out series, kina music s fade to k pt. 3 and wizz vinyl s sonar sampler 2014, plus eps for labels like district raw and serial number 849. but amam gets the honor of issuing his first own vinyl release, the distres ep. the opening title track is an exercise in jacking minimalism, vibrant tech house with just the essentials, but more than enough to get the floor moving. then, ademus gets into a slightly more colorful groove, with tropical percussive interplay and some whooping voice for a humanistic accent (is that brigitte bardot?). on the flip, virgo gives a modern update to the frenzy of acid house. the title alone brings virgo four to mind. on that note, this one is an effective tool for warping minds and evoking spastic dance moves. finally, the dependable gaetano vinci a.k.a. hooved reinterprets ademus with a heavy dose of melodic funk and symphonic washes, making the track into an entirely new creation.

sardinian production wizard 000 is back with a wellseasoned plate of four minimal and tech-house tracks in the form of the borders of limbo ep. 000 joined the amam roster last summer with the finely tuned camels pace ep (amamextra018), which made quite a splash in the international club scene: ibiza voice praised its unexpected depth, while local suicide reviewed it as another brilliant release

qbeck first made a splash on the international tech-house scene when seth troxler and crew released his track alice on a visionquest label compilation last year. now alessio mereu is pleased to scoop up the ukrainian producer for a full ep on amam, titled railway mood. eureka has an irresistible galloping groove, with an off-kilter tick-tock giving a countdown to eternity. soon, after the slightly unnerving melodic plucking sounds, you can hear breathy gasps punctuating the atmosphere as if a human being is trapped inside the track. and maybe youll get sucked in too!

for the second part, frankfurts losoul (playhouse,logistic) takes the downbeat dub-techno-jazz of renatos underpool and turns it into an anthemic deep house number thats 12 minutes long and 20.000 leagues under the sea, yet full of bounce. finally, berlin-based brit ed davenport (counterchange) takes anymore and gives it an entirely different edge, a naval onslaught of crashing, jacking breakbeats, while sonar frequencies gently circle outward like the sirens call, rounding out the funkoholic remixes voyage.

in march, tech-house veteran renato figoli made a welcome return with his first full-length in five years, funkoholic. now renato and amam founder (and fellow italian) alessio mereu have curated a remix package from four top producers to contextualize the deep, aquatic qualities of the originals: sascha dive, christopher rau, losoul and ed davenport. if the original album was set aboard an aircraft, this new double-ep takes place in a stealthy submarine.

london-based thomas feriero, aka avatism, didnt buy his first vinyl when he was ten years old, nor was he born out of the love of two underground jazz musicians. he had an extremely dull and standard childhood and can barely play the drums. yet somehow, he is able to formulate techhouse tracks that are classy and artful while remaining dancefloor-functional.
