they are dangerous is the second song released by senator gary. the riddim was build by the late great keyboard player winston wright (1944-1993) and the vocal was recorded at creative sound studio. the tune was produced by neville reid who died a few years ago. senator gary is also called imara, abbasani and now he is voicing under the name of i-maa-raa. so the quest to find him was not so easy, thanks to marshall neeko for the help.

koett & wellbeck are back with their second release for pro-tez records. “untitled 9” is a proper skilled brilliant low-slung house composition. with remixes from anton kubikov and xdb, two veterans lay down a lush house groove that s just begging to be played on the dance floor. xdb’s version with sweetly offset dub chords takes us into a club mist of fizzing electronics for a full submerged dub house experience. it is a vinyl only, heavyweight 180 grams pressing, limited to 300 copies.

for the past four decades, a growing cult of soul music collectors have sought two obscure lps and a handful of extremely rare 45s released on the vanity record label lad productions, inc. between the late seventies and the mid eighties by the mysterious south side chicago singer/song writer larry dixon. larry s raw songs capture the transition from r&b to boogie-down as disco was rapidly becoming extinct. they also perfectly illustrate larry’s ability to overcome his environment and discrimination, transcended by his determination to write and produce music. with the support of his faithful musicians, larry s success was only hindered by lack of airplay and promotion, but his talent shines through. this is the story of larry dixon, his label lad productions, inc., and his friends and family throughout four decades of music in chicagos toughest neighborhoods. jerome derradji is the boogie funk division of still music to release this fantastic archive what many consider to be the holy grail of chicago funk, boogie and soul.

baricentro is an italian funk-rock band founded in 1976 by two brothers francesco and vanni boccuzzi, after the release of two albums in mid seventies (sconcerto and trusciant) for the major record company emi they recorded in 1983 the single tittle tattle representing a clear innovation in sound from their past, without believing that would receive a positive response in the new york city underground music scene and soon becoming a paradise garage and loft classic. best record italy today came out with this special reissue-project as a limited edition ep, remastered from the original master tapes and containing for the first time all the versions from 1983 and 84 including the unreleased dub that was previously available as an acetate cut only for deejay play.

biosphere is the main recording name of geir jenssen (born 30 may 1962), a norwegian musician who has released a notable catalogue of ambient electronic music. he is well known for his works on ambient techno and arctic themed pieces, his use of music loops, and peculiar samples from sci-fi sources. his 1997 album substrata was voted by the users of the hyperreal website in 2001 as the best all-time classic ambient album.

adam port and jimpster have had a special kind of ‘virtual’ relationship the last few years with a mutual respect for each others productions and output of their respective labels. keinemusik, which adam runs alongside rampa, &me and reznik, has grown into one of the most consistent and hottest out there right now with every release creating a big splash and bringing magic to so many dancefloors around the world. adam recently remixed jimpster’s eel pie island to devastating effect bringing his own deep, late night atmospherics to the original and creating one of 2016’s underground hits in the process. so now we’re very pleased to welcome adam port (alongside legendary uk artists stereo mc’s) for a full release on freerange in the form of changes. opening the release we have adam’s own remix which sets the tone with a subtle and gently building groove providing the perfect backdrop for the stereo mc’s esoteric vocal. this lesson in restraint shows why adam’s productions work so well on big systems, letting all the focus shine firmly on the vocal creating an intense atmosphere with not a single huge breakdown in sight! next up we have the original of changes which takes a more electro approach with a simple bassline and crisp hats and once again allowing the vocal space to take centre stage for a deep and memorable track with a message. finally we have a remix from our own jimpster opts to push in a completely different direction. shuffling up the groove and laying down a repeating rhodes riff we’re treated to an altogether more soulful and less stark version making the perfect compliment to the the package. this one makes us think of his remix of osunlade’s momma’s groove which is no bad thing we feel! enjoy!

reboot takes another slice from his recent album ‘alive’ out for a walk. this time it’s ‘are you losing my mind?’. first we’re treated to the vinyl version full of everything we loved from the original. a stripped down tech house beat sprinkled with a might vocal hymn and plenty of groove. then ricardo takes over the track with his own very particular style. he’s made two distinct versions, ‘hauswiedermischung’ is first. as he’s known to do, villalobos created a kind of chaos in which the track lives without ever losing the groove and with plenty of little surprises to discover throughout. next is ricardo’s twenty four minute ‘losing my miles’ remix, and here is where he really loosens the grip on the track and lets it wander in and out of coherence, taking it and us along for a special ride that only ricardo can deliver. from beginning to end, you don’t know what to expect but you know it when it comes. get it, press play, and lose your mind.

after an excellent new album “yoyogi park”, our favorite german producers made great remix package. one of the most respectable label giegling artist kettenkraussell made two version. one is dark deep house and one more is electronica style which reminds us jan janelik. our hero roman flugel remix is more uplifting and trippy, this is simply nice for the club. lake people remix is old school electro style but sounds very modern and playful. enjoy!

the drums are rougher, the grooves dirtier and the main dish, the synths, are carefully designed to express the emotions that inspired these tracks: restlessness and claustrophobia on blue vertigo, melancholy on oxygen toxicity, euphoria and anger on blackout and the burden of impatience on the bends. to close the ep, oxygen toxicity heliox mix, a dj friendly version of the original that results on a very emotional peak time techno track.
