‘family horror x good times’ is an extensive 15 tracks compilation, where the leipzig label reflects on an intense and impassioned decade. kann asked close friends and long time idols to play their part to the full to complete the third edition of the label’s family horror compilation series. the outcome is a clear snapshot of the musical inclinations of the three label founders, sevensol & map.ache (aka manamana) and bender, encapsulating an idiosyncratic, modern house sound that demands an emotional response. the compilation comes rounded off by a booklet of photographs from ria aka lux which just like the music captures some of the beautiful ‘good times’ from this very special period, this time on paper.

cmd q continues with his 3rd ep for kann. delivering an all out, dance floor focused three tracker. ranging from one serious dub techno banger over a jittery house version to a distinctively subtle techno cut. it is great to watch and listen to him amplify.

after almost two years “things from the basement” are back with another very patient contribution for kann. next to their very intimate and minimalist original jams the 6 tracker includes three different dancefloor focused remix approaches from sevensol, map,ache & polo. the label’s final record of 2016 consists of a wide ranging musical package, all tracks are sorted by genres but unified in the same vibe.

gieglings generous prince of denmark presents the new ep under his alias traumprinz, who is quite well known these days for his singular and filthy vision of house music. paradise with a lobotomy expands the labels horizon towards to further individual interpretations of house and techno. for that traumpinz brought three more than diverse tracks straight from home, to reveal a bit more of his royal universe to all the techno-paparazzis.

professional youth club terms another fine 2track ep from label owners sevensol & bender. with kann 21 both again renew their status as trusty soldiers of rhythm and atmosphere, while reconfirming their own trollig – sentiment even though the obvious glimpse is addressed to never ending dance floors.

back to the future! two years after kanns diverse family horror various double 12, the label fills the gap by releasing catalogue no.10 including interpretations of 3 tracks from the compilation. it is no accident that the original artists met their brothers in mind for choosing their favorite horror track. whites edward converted johannes beck, hamburgs analogue king rvds rolls up with even tuell and the swedish duo of dancefloor-masters axel boman and petter called salax peep show restarted the machines for map.ache. the family stories continues.

philipp matalla is the latest stallion in the stable of kann. the label was able to win him for a beautiful artist ep in manner of his independent music selections as dj. after last years debut on prins thomas internasjonal he convinces now with two eclectic spring tunes to be no.14 of our catalog. mm/km, a masters collab between kassem mosse and mix mup, completes the journey with a unexpected outbreaking remix, straight from the street

jan barich, aka map.ache, is ready to release his debut album, ulfo. along with alexander neuschulz and dennis knoof (aka sevensol & bender), barich is a founder of kann records, the label arm of a leipzig record store of the same name. since 2008, kann has quietly become a consistent source of atmospheric, understated deep house, mostly by a crew of local artists. barich hews close to his label s trademark sound on ulfo, delivering ten delicate tracks that are, in the words of the label, driven by determined chords carrying tears of optimism.

in 2011 some berlin based recordshops try to reclaim the streets with the so called >record store day< for the first time in germany. also kann was asked for a limited vinyl to support their concern. on that specific occasion we bring a new two track ep except for the regular series. kann rsd breaks ranks with an extra beautiful edit of the awesome witchwaver sunglitters, composited by nuremburgs essay. b-side builts back the bridge to the label and gives finally >aperture< from sevensol & bender the appropriate space. the track was originally released on kann00 in 2008. for the artwork kann is pretty happy to won over famed – a chummy art collective – for doing an impressing independent work.

falke is the nom de plume of falk golz from leipzig, who lived unseen in kanns musical neighbourhood. he already convinced with his seldom contribution for the family horror compilation and ties in now with an own melted down ep. follow the 3 inimitable dirty and trippy underground house-tracks and be curious about what can be expected more of him in the future.
