as summer peaks, we bring you the brand new series watergate remixes where standout tracks from our discography are remixed and retouched by some of our favorite artists. kicking off the first installment we have matthias meyer and jimi jules stepping up to deliver their twist on two big tunes from heavy-hitters butch and henrik schwarz. first up is matthias remix of butchs cosmic tale shahrzad, and he dishes out a truly timeless piece of dance floor euphoria. with his trademark organic groove and lush swirling pads meyer guides us through a heavenly journey into the distant reaches of sonic elation. on the flip side, jimi jules brings his a-game with a revision of henrik schwarz classic words in return by demonstrating an incredibly mature restraint of precise and calculated efforts resulting in an enchanting trip of dreamy aural pleasures.
henrik schwarz and !k7 are proud to announce a collaboration that will bare many different musical fruits. the first of these is a brand new label called between buttons, curated by henrik and focused on acoustic sounds and contemporary compositions. between buttons will be in partnership with !k7’s own neo-classical hub 7k!, and will kick off with a new mini lp by schwarz entitled works piano, followed by an ep entitled aphorisms by syrian artists khaled kurbeh & raman khalaf ensemble. mixing up old and new technologies, experimental and more classical approaches, the label will see schwarz forge new paths in his own work, as well as curating material from the peers he has worked with over the last 15 years. mainly made up of acoustic sounds, piano, string quartets, self-built instruments, percussion and intriguing classicist elements with a modern twist, there will be eps from piano virtuoso bugge wesseltoft, as well as other electronic producers wanting to show themselves in a different, more unplugged light. “in these times of constant turbo mode, likes and thumbs-up, we need to go back to basics,” says henrik. “we want to move away from the idea that relentless hasty productivity is a must, and instead take time to create space, to let ideas mature and to focus the mind on subtler sounds.” works piano will be a four track mini album that uses a yamaha disklavier as the starting point and reimagines it, reworks it and alters it with various digital and recording technologies. one track is a created with a reactive algorithm and one is composed purely from altered and processed piano sounds.
ltd 2017 repress !!! later converts to the danny tenaglia sound may be a little surprised by the mellow nature of some of his earlier tracks, but tenaglias roots are firmly in disco. equinox bridges the gap, an epic journey that begins with a sublime jazzy piano part by keys maestro peter daou before it progresses to a trippy synth riff. a connoisseurs choice. now long time veteran in the german deep house scene henrik schwarz delivers us a killer remix and dub to revitalise the tracks for 2009!
henrik schwarz first work for running back and concurrent solo piece since 2013 is a prime example of the mans uncanny production abilities. recent years saw schwarz more and more gravitating towards the intersections between electronic music and jazz, classical compositions or african sounds than serving the weekly bread and butter at clublands busy buffet car. now, not also you is a return to exactly that honourable craft and service. built around an imagined and imaginary curtain lecture from a saint to a sinner and housed in one of henriks most techno looking robes as of yet, its a no-brainer or shall we dare say a reaper of a track without frills but with a fata morgana like rave signal. oh, there is a dub for snobs (not you also), too. peak time, high time, any time. nice sleeve on top.

sunday music goes deeper and depper with this fantastic album release. it reflects the love of label owner henrik schwarz for jazz, contemporary and chamber music. when norwegians electro-jazz pioneer bugge wesseltoft and henrik schwarz (!k7/ innervisions) produced their collaboration duo, it was clear that their synergy was both unique within, and revitalizing to, the whole genre of electro-acoustic beat-based improvisation.
the exceptional singer songwriter, roachford, has teamed up with henrik schwarz for his latest single work it out. schwarz, who has previously had successful releases on defected, innervisions and mood music to name just a few, delivers beautiful sounds and wonderful transitions, the feeling of vintage and modern sound art, makes this remix indispensable.the limited edition vinyl will feature, as a bonus track, roachford s version of the candi staton classic >you ve got the love<.
visionquest 033 is brought to you by the unique sonic voice of hamburg trio wareika, who weave a distorted jazz looseness into the pulsing and ever-evolving analogue framework of madame scorpion. a teasing raw live composition with a tribal heart, the undulating percussive groove rolls beneath haunting strings and an expanding soundscape until space opens up for a rising melody and florians deep absorbing vocal. veteran german house producer henrik schwarz turns in a magnificently wonky remix on the flip.
kuni & henriks collaborate again since dancefloor hit track once again. original version on a side, henriks trippy melody and kunis musical flute sound fits amazing. its a new style of jazzy deep house. on b side, our favotire kraut rock oriented band who base in cologne, von spar, delivered excellent remix. if you are following pampas die vogel, you will love their remix. remix package of session 2 with lord of the isle & henriks children johannes brecht remix are coming in the summer.
ltd. to 500 copies. schwarz original is a vocal-based house-anthem, which emerges from his musical finesse to gasp for air in form of a folk-inspired hookline. after a percussive break the records to-the-floor efficiency is unleashed. this is where carl craigs remix begins. from dreamy to sawing synth-lines, he utilizes the originals massive potential - to 12 minutes.
when some collaborations occur, it feels like fate has been paying close attention, planning something special. on one hand: bugge wesseltoft, pianist, composer and pioneer of electronic jazz, on the other: henrik schwarz, one of the most sought after producers of electronic music who has remixed stars from michael jackson to ane brun. this combination may not seem as radical as once it might, as in the days before bugges new conception of jazz, but the results most certainly are: this does not feel like your typical electronic jazz outing. its a super-group in microcosm. wesseltoft comes from a jazz background and has moved towards electronic music. he started on the ecm label with jan garbarek, and later collaborated with club music legends like laurent garnier and francois kervorkian on stage. schwarz comes from the chicago/ detroit techno culture, and performs at music festivals and in clubs on all continents. he has been moving towards the jazz and improvisation
this is something really special. as a kind of tribute to michael universal/motown , henrik schwarz and wordandsound have been digging the vaults of motowns vast catalogue. its been taking a while to get all of us together but now the first (and maybe only ever) offspring is finally available in a limited edition of strictly 1000 units and for our customers only. jackson fives classic >dancing machine< in 2 long and intensely driving henrik schwarz mixes. both mixes blend the world s of disco emotion, house building and detroit technoicism like no one else and not often heard anymore in this style, depths, complexness and rhythimc power. 2 killer and future classic mixes - but be quick will stocks last. motown has only agreed to this one ever run!
this is a follow up release of the second collaboration track of henrik schwarz and kuniyuki. mighty soulphiction made a jazzy beatdown house remix and kuniyuki instrument version is availabel on vinyl.
fresh & ltd repress !! mark murphy is a jazz singer legend. he started in the late 50is, ruled the 60is and his records are a hipsters must have since the 70is. then he came to fame again when one gilles peterson got him into dingwalls in the late 80is and japanese producers united future organisation made murphys version of stolen moments (he wrote the lyrics) really big. recently he releases his second album love is what stays on verve (germany), produced by famous german trumpeter till brönner. another famous german producer, yes its henrik schwarz, touched the original track with its deep vocals and full orchestrra arrangement and created the ultimative fusion of jazz and the recent deep house sound from berlin. extremly tasteful. you will never heard strings, wooden brass, and such deepnees of murphy featured in the recent clubcontext but will do thanks to henrik schwarz. different to many others this remix gets released right after being finished in henriks studio so you can say this is the sound of the moment
the second collaboration of henrik schwarz & kuniyuki. the original version of >once again< which kuniyuki made the track and henrik sung and japanese legendary pianist fumio itabashi played the piano is included to the upcoming kuniyukis new album >walking in the naked city<. the both tracks on this 12inch are club friendly version. henrik version is very musical but still clubby. he added to the sound of kuniyukis flute and yoshihiro tsukaharas guitar which they did the session all together in tokyo. kuniyuki version is agressive than usual his sound. playful jazzy house.
rumours were floating around and in forums people were chatting about when henrik schwarz remix will be officially out for quite some time. first is henrik schwarz sought after remix for feeling you which was recently licensed to the next fabric cd, mixed by dj t. lay it down is a beautiful rework by andré lodemann with smooth pads and discoid sample stabs, while >your mess< gets a strong 303 acid flavour in the remix from compost record s show-b. finally we have a deep trippy mix by triad, who usually do proper broken beats and who now did their first steps in house music with a dope remix of stylin
shortly followed after the 40 thieves remix (fa011) comes another fine piece of musical art. the 2nd vinyl sampler will be featuring remixes from andre lodemann and henrik schwarz. this will be a one off press of two very special tracks.
when we first started thinking about the compilation, we had in mind the idea to put together a great minimal techno selection with stuff from the early 90s, which really inspired us, like robert hood, dan bell, plastikman, pansonic and mike ink to name a few. whilst working on the project we had the feeling that there is so much more great and influential minimal music from way before the techno thing started. so we were very excited to combine the music from the electronic pioneers, with the tracks from the minimal techno godfathers in a very modern way. in minimal music there is so much (space) in between the sounds and the space that gives you a lot of opportunities for an own interpretation. the grandfather paradox is a scientific theory about time travelling and was first described by the science fiction writer rene barjavel in his book - le voyageur imprudent. we took suggestions out of that because we felt like we are travelling back in time and manipulating the old music with modern knowledge. the fact that we did all this with the deserved respect to the originals makes us quite sure that the results are bringing something new and interesting to the old tracks and transport the past into the here and now. - henrik schwarz, ?e & dixon
HEADPHONE SILENCE / HENRIK SCHWARZ RMXS - DIXON & DENNIS FERRER EDITS

norwegian songwriter, guitarist and vocalist ane brun is a rising star. with two norwegian grammys for best female artist and song of the year in 2005, her most recent and third studio album >changing of the seasons< entering the norwegian charts at 1 and the swedish charts at 2 the future looks very bright for her. now brun has connected with dennis ferrers - objektivity. ferrer has gathered an international cast of some of todays leading house and techno producers to take the works of brun one step further. the aptly named >ane brun objektified< full length will be released later this summer here is the first single, a taster of what is to come - bruns >headphone silence< remixed by henrik schwarz. schwarz composed his remix initially as a live lap top piece, mixing it down under the watchful eyes of close colleagues ame. on the flip you find a dixon edit
an acclaimed young five piece from leeds, stateless have already displayed their mastery of beat driven guitar and turntable rock on previous releases. but their third single bloodstream, is their masterpiece. a 21st century blues ballad built from cinematic hip hop beats, super heavy bass and perfumed piano. it sounds both heartbroken and drunk on its own romantic intoxication. the berlin based producer and remixer henrik schwarz, one of germanys most respected djs, brings his trademark love of jazz and deep house to his version. schwarzs remix re engineers the track as a sleek dance tune, speeding up chris vocal into a restless, nervy, emotionally naked torch song. by contrast, the chic parisian re edit maestro pilooski strips the track down into a cubist collage of rhythmic throbs and sparkles, with a staccato piano melody pulsing through it like a heartbeat. its a playful and vibrant fusion, where soul baring yorkshire poetry meets sleek french disco chic.
henrik schwarz is now back from where he started in 2002 with the supravision ep (mood-016), and we are happy to have him onboard again. walk music came to life some years ago on one of henriks amazing liveshows and as with all good things, it was worth the wait! walk music is a deep, mesmerizing excursion into his soul-funk-disco roots with a mysterious vocal line chugging into your mind while the driving beat and bass keeps your butt moving – pure funk we say. some added strings and an exceptionally suprising arrangement make this another classic henrik schwarz journey.
