tony more was the italo disco project of marzio benelli and andrea venturoli from firenze, italy. marzio specialized in sound engineering at various recording studios in milan throughout the early 1980s. he opened emme studio where we worked with major national and international artists. in 1984 he met andrea, a sound programmer who knew his way around analog synthesizers. their first collaboration was that same year on the song “computer sourire” for alexander robotnick debut album. in 1985 the duo recorded ‘tonight’, the debut single for the vocalist tony more that was released the same year on sensation records.

new years deal - a1 - luc marianni - six synthetic suites (anno stamm remix) berlin producer anstam’s remix of six synthetic suites is quite a trip. the producer has crafted a dubbed-out version, almost sub aquatic in its sound design, structured around a murky but driving techno beat on which he layers marianni’s sounds. exotic instruments, unusual timbres, daring melodies and even slapped bass: the contrast between these sounds and stamm’s grayscale groove is powerful. a2 vril - synthetic suite giegling artist vril uses samples from marianni’s six synthetic suites released in 1986 to produce this lovely slab of dub techno. carefully crafted, this track is all about soft edges, with a kind of blurry and hazy vibe that permeates it. a sense of motion is conveyed by the sparse but efficient rhythmic section, with chords and melodic elements giving the impression of floating. with much more contrast and complexity than it might seem at first listen, this is beyond your usual dub techno cut. b1 luc marianni - six synthetic suites (margaret dygas remix) also based in berlin, margaret dygas’ own remix of six synthetic suites is a deconstructed affair, built around a half step groove, ready to be used creatively in dj sets. somewhere between an ambient excursion and a more rhythmic jam, the producer uses a sparse palette of hallucinogenic, dizzying sounds with a dash of eerie darkness that gives this version a melancholic, unsettling nature. words by edouard isar.

respected house and techno artist dj deep returns to rekids with four murky productions this june. having been a staple in the parisian scene for over two decades, dj deep’s vast knowledge of electronic music is indisputable making his return to production in recent years all the more exciting, releasing on tresor, rekids, and his highly regarded label deeply rooted. ‘la grande brasserie’ features rolling kicks and a subtle rhythm as futuristic stabs ebb in and out of the mix, contrasting to the ‘2e service’ version which, whilst sharing a similar aesthetic, sounds bigger with its echoing synths and infectious claps. on the flip, both tracks are more dark and mellow in comparison, ‘paris heartbeat’ demonstrates twisted atmospherics and gloomy elements, whilst the intricate and mesmerising ‘chord kids’ is exemplary of dj deep’s ability to craft imaginative left-of-centre cuts.

following the success of the now sold out freundchen ep, true romance revisits the disco anthem with this hot hot hot trio of remixes, right in time for the summer. on the a side, red rack’em puts freundchen through his cut and paste wizardry delivering a heavily filtered, bass heavy, hypnotic disco version. on the flip, lauer cranks up the groove and unleashes the pianos for a classy house rendition that oozes sunshine and smiles. russian producer phil gerus’s gets gritty on his take, bringing the track on a mad chopped up italo road.

with the next and twelfth installment of tiefenrausch the dub techno label sets foot on the new continent again. the deep sea journey is joined by san fransisco based artist federsen and brendon moeller aka echologist or beat pharmacy - who contributed a remix to the three track ep. “the myth ep” represents federsen raw and analogue signature sound. warm and distorted machine noises create the pad for minimal drum patterns, bass grooves and accentuated chord echoes. on the a-side federsen shows us his unique style with “contrasts”. brendon moeller on the other hand contributes his own sound and rounds up the ep with dubbed interpretation of federsens “murmer”. the ep ends with the original version of that track. the release is designed by alex ketzer who joins in for a collaboration with the illustrators magdalena paz and florian gassmann for the next releases of the tiefenrausch label. the audio is mastered by salz music and the ep comes on 180g vinyl and shrink wrapped.

it is making my blood boil. man, my jaw is hanging down listening to this stuff. read the email from butthole surfers man and producer, paul leary, when he heard the demo for what would become the debut philipp gorbachev & the naked man album. philipp gorbachev, the russian musician and dj, has been throwing killer parties and making some of the most innovative and exciting electronic music to come out of moscow in years. in 2014 he released his debut album silver album but when invited to perform a live boiler room he had something else in mind: a band scenario. the resulting concoction was not something locked into a 4/4 beat but rather a much more organic, groove-based sound with funk-strutting bass lines and live drums that rolled and flurried around the beats that jumped around leading the charge of the songs along with gorbachev’s damo suzuki-like vocals. taking that experiment into the studio, i dont give a snare is a wild ride that jumps genres, switches paces and alters tones frequently. the opening goodman exploding in intense rhythms and heavy, spiralling riffs that at times recall sabbath but the ever-shifting drums and gargling electronics give a wonky freshness that feels impossible to place into genre. whilst gorbachev cites a range of influences from beck to blind willie johnson as being core to him, the primary motivation is the live nature of the project itself. the main influence is the constant live experience we have as music players and performers. i want to get the most out of every party, every jam, and every dancefloor.

artist susana estrada was one of the leading figures of the “destape” during the late 70s and early 80s, a period in spain when sexual openness and freedom of thought exploded just when the country was coming out of a dictatorship. . besides acting in lot of movies and musical plays, susana as a singer also released a few 45s, cassettes and one lp, “amor y libertad”, produced by the great josep llobell, which is now regarded as a cosmic disco classic. from that album, cosmic record store selected two tracks for side a of this 12”, “gózame ya” and “quítate el sostén”. for the b side, the label has included three edits in a nu-disco & cosmic vein by producers james rod, javi frías and mr. absolut aka sergio peña.

“a safe place to be naked” is s. fidelity’s debut album, which will be released on may 5th via jakarta records. it features 12 tracks, capturing the producer’s quest for a fresh sound, which he elaborated over the last two years, locked in his tiny basement studio in berlin. evolving from there the he has also released an ep with feelin music in 2014, and “sidekicks”, a joint project with long-term friend and collaborator bluestaeb in 2016. by working with artists like tru thoughts singer harleighblu and label mate juju rogers as well as fellow producers bluestaeb and shuffle jack, his lp “a safe place to be naked” plays with sampled vocals and even his own voice – often distorted, but still present. s. fidelity was born in st. gallen, switzerland, mainly works in berlin and currently resides in london. as a producer he developed a unique and always driving sound, combining sampling techniques and classic beat making with unusual drum patterns, modern synth and atmospheric sound effects. s. fidelity’s laid-back eclecticism is marked by a deep knowledge and fascination for pop culture as a whole. his idea of fresh hiphop references to various genres, including jazz, ambient, disco and electronica. the lp contains an a2 poster & download code.

back to back 70s roots shots from joe morgan, his first and second ever tunes. while many know joe from his wackie s anthem basement session, joe was already producing himself in the mid 70s on his own afro black label in jamaica before coming to nyc. both of these tunes are stone cold classics long hunted by roots collectors, and the rhythms used should be familiar to astute listeners from other brilliant cuts. joe continued to record and produce himself and other artists on his own main imprint fish tea, and other labels label thru the 80s. the two tunes issued on this fish tea 12inch both originally appeared as afro black label 45 s in jamaica, and the b-side also on a pet shop label 45 in nyc

joe morgans stop them is killer late 70s militant roots, self-produced and originally released on his own jomor music house label (under the name billy joe morgan) in nyc. awesome vocal, majestic horns, heavy rhythm, a shining example of the brilliance of late 70s roots reggae and how perfectly suited the style was for the extended mix 12inch single discomix format. we ve added something special for this reissue (now on joe s main imprint fish tea). not only do we have the original 12inch replicated in full, but also an awesome and previously unreleased late 80s digital recut of the tune entitled warrior. unfortunately a dub version for this cut was never mixed, but we are grateful to have uncovered another gem from mr. morgan, one of the crucially under recorded and underrated artists of his time.

his time the tramp crew serve you with a delicious double sider by wayne mcghie. -the love you save- was never released when recorded in 1972 and this long-lost track is now available here for the first time on 45! in 1972, wayne signed with record producer greg hambleton and, with former members of the hitchhikers, recorded a couple of tracks including -love is the answer- and -the love you save- at toronto sound studios. -love is the answer- was released later that year as a 45rpm single with the instrumental version on the flip, however -the love you save- was never relaesed. now, more than four decades later, the music of wayne mcghie has been re-discovered and his songs and musicianship are finally receiving the attention so long deserved.

originally released in 1978 on greg charmichaels red greg records, ‘lady bug’ and -love bug- are probably bumblebee unlimited s most recognizable hits. now repressed on the get on down label ... with an undeniable groove, signature keys and arrangements by patrick adams in addition to the comically sped-up vocals, lady bug is considered by many to be one of the most important underground tracks of the disco era. as with the original -lady bug- 12- single, the john morales and frank trimarco -sunshine sound- mix takes the a-side of the rca release. a true disco version in every sense of the word, this almost 10 minute mix brings out the latin percussions to the front making it a true dance floor classic and establishing john morales as one of the best remixers in the industry. the b-side belongs to one of new york city s hottest djs at the time: larry levan. despite being a very early remix by the legendary paradise garage dj, the talent was evident and his understanding of a club mix in wide display. it’s no wonder larry levan would go to become one of the most respected and revered remixers of his generation.
