known as pantaleon perez prado, was the younger brother of the famous king of mambo. pantaleon, who came to europe in the 1950s, recorded several albums with unifunk. a powerful big funk band sound featuring: tullio de piscopo, mario rusca, giancarlo barigozzi, pino prestipino and others. escandalo!, as perez prado states in the brief sleeve note, is named after a new rhythm created by himself. *a rhythm you can dance to in freedom, without specific steps*. in spite of this naive launching, the opening track chicago banana is a declaration of intent, with its sly stone-esque groove. 9 out of 12 tracks are originals credited to composers of the unifunk circle, but the track list is careful to preserve prados well-established latin appeal, by including three standards such as brazil, el manisero and tequila.

“this is the moment” wurde ursprünglich als b-seite von “lord please hear my prayer” veröffentlicht, eine seltene 45 auf cipiti records. geschrieben von tony benn feghaly und sante palumbo, ist es ein erstaunlicher gospel-soul song, interpretiert von edith peters. in nur zweieinhalb minuten begleitet das sante palumbo orchester peters’ entzückende stimme zu einer groovigen und intensiven interpretation. die ursprüngliche version von 1973 befindet sich auf der b-seite, während gerardo frisinas nachbearbeitung die a-seite dieser neuauflage schmückt.

joyce wuchs in east harlem auf, die gegend, die als spanish harlem oder el barrio bekannt ist. sie entschied sich nach mehreren jahren auf tour in europa für einen neuen weg in ihrer karriere und begann ein vielseitiges projekt, das ihr neues album *welcome to my world* geworden ist. das album wurde mit dem bekannten finnischen saxophonisten timo lassy und seiner band eingespielt, musiker, die zu den besten jazzinstrumentalisten der welt zählen. timo und seine jungs bringen das gewisse extra, eine raffinesse mit einem schwung und einem groove, der die vision von joyce in die tat umsetzen konnte.

“the bull” is the most representative track from the upcoming record “in the eye of the cat”, which undoubtedly is one of puddu’s best and cohesive works to date. as a b-side we have “sequenza erotica” (erotic sequence), an unreleased track that can only be found on this 7’’, spreading that sexy cinematic feeling typical of puddu’s production (see for example his “golden age of danish pornography” series).

known as pantaleon perez prado, was the younger brother of the famous king of mambo. pantaleon, who came to europe in the 1950s, recorded several albums with unifunk. a powerful big funk band sound featuring: tullio de piscopo, mario rusca, paolo tommelleri, pino prestipino and others. for this second lp, the obscure vocalist don alfio had gained enough prestige within the band to share the top of the bill with the bandleader. that is probably because, in october 1973, the love child 45rpm (which has nothing to do with the 1968 supremes hit) had enjoyed a good airplay on supersonic, a daily italian public radio show that presented a lot of freshly released records. the djs explicitly credited the record to don alfio with perez prado. the reviving of chicago banana from escandalo!, plus many new tracks including circle, imperfect and the jazzy chato, gave the record a precise latin-funk attitude. bossanova evergreen bahia (also known as na baixa do sapateiro) and a synthled version of ciliegi rosa (cherry pink and apple blossom white) are the only two concessions to latin standards.

der italiensiche dj und produzent gerardo frisina kehrt mit zwei neuen eklektischen tracks auf schema records zurück. passion dance ist ein fesselnder jazz tune, der stark afro-kubanisch beeinflusst ist und mit einem gewissen house-feeling um die ecke kommt. space in time klingt wie eine eroberung des weltalls durch brasilianer im batucada rausch.

the early 60s had seen a change of direction in musical research, especially in jazz: a turn into deepness. there was an urgent need to walk away from the research of an aesthetic dimension, in order to move towards a more intimate objective, closer to human feelings and spirituality. horizontal improvisations appeared to decrease, while vertical thrived: a movement directed to transcendence, god and the cosmos.

die musiker auf dem album sind die creme de la creme der finnischen jazzinstrumentalisten und der klassischen musiker, wenn wir bei den streichern ankommen. die aufnahmen liefen sehr traditionell ab. alle 9 musiker spielen 100% der live takes in dem selben kleinen raum. wir nutzen alte 50er und 60er jahre tube mikrofone und nahmen auf einem analogen 8-track tape recorder auf.

die fünfte tranche der 45rpm serie von schema praesentiert zwei tracks aus dem kommenden album the revelations der gleichnamigen band. wenig ist ueber diese band bekannt, aber wenn sie gerardos versionen hoeren, moechten sie vielleicht mehr wissen. soul 111 und lively wurden von gerardo frisina aufgegriffen und überarbeitet. soul 111 ist eine lange reise durch filmische atmosphären, waehrend lively uns geradewegs in das italienische kino der 70er jahre führt - der sound ist frisch und perfekt für die letzten tage des sommers.

the sc704 premises are in a remote past. we need to go back to the days of the early 90s, when the first record by schema was released. in 1993 we handled right tempo records and published a 3 tracks ep which was highly acclaimed by the international acid jazz scene. behind the project there was nicola conte, a leading figure in baris new jazz scene who acted as a catalyst in many productions. our followers should remember >introducing the paolo achenza trio<. as paul bradshaw from straight no chaser magazine commented, the record was >rooted in the soulful funk of the sixties and early seventies jazz...<. mysteriously, a fourth track hadnt been released at that time ... the new 7 inch series by schema gives us the chance to listen to >chameleon< a cover version of herbie hancocks classic, featuring gianluca petrella on trombone.

>black orgasmo< is ideally an hidden track, the exciting climax of a soundtrack conceived for a series of short danish porn movies from the 70s, following the acclaimed >the golden age of danish pornography (1970-1974)<. it is a killer tune with a strong groove and heavy bass lines. a brazilian touch and stunning female sexy vocals deliver us a truly cool sound. >naughty girls at the wild party< is alex puddus brand new single taken from the album, a groovy and catchy tune with a wild intro where a wha-wha guitar grows into a psych/freak beat that makes you go dirty on the dancefloor. a great track for vintage lovers.
