for its latest release, weirdest dream has landed on dopeness galore for a supernova of atmospheric sounds called white worms. weirdest dream is the moniker and playground of stockholm-based galactic explorers daniel fagerström & luciano leiva. with a history of releases on rvng and permanent vacation the duo plays around in a constellation of all analog and early digital synthesizers such as the tr-909, waldorf microwave, yamaha dx7, roland juno-60 and akai mpcs. an ambient cloud of sonic surrealism, white worms is a curious exploration of the celestial sphere through echoes of patrick cowley, sensations fix and tangerine dream.

rat life records presents serial error a project by credit 00, jacob korn & sneaker. this outfit was brought to life in 2013 when red d called for some new beat style tracks for his -our beat is still new- compilation. flying a bit too low under the radar ever since rat life decided to reissue drum abuse on a super sound maxi single. the track was made in jacob korn s headquarter studio / synthesizer museum. the task distribution was hit quickly: jacob squeezing the acid out of his huge formant modular system, credit 00 beating the drums on the boss dr 660 and sneaker throwing his unique vocals on top!

wilted woman returns to one of her homes at primitive languages with a follow up to the coveted cassette release “fluid”. on “watching the psycho”, she offers three tracks of condensed rhythmic gestures that tightly encapsulate various aspects of her wide-cast palate.
with recent 12” releases on she rocks and alien jams, this 7” release carves out a smaller aural territory for the listener to meditate upon. another wonderful chapter in the singular makers repertoire.

first track spy vs spy opens things with shuffling drum loops and eerie synth details that hypnotises over seven minutes. atomsmasha has wooden hits and rough shakers peppering a soft, imperfect groove as awkward chords bring an unhinged edge to the mix. on the flip, summer breeze & brotherhood has loose keys doing an off kilter dance over stl’s trademark low-key drums where freebird zones you out with long held chords and detuned keys as cloudy, dusty kicks bring a barely-there groove deep down low. you know what to get from stl by now, but at the same time you can never get enough.

cape town duo christian tiger school provide the 3rd part of the lissoms series. both graduates of the red bull music academy and part of the sónar line-up this summer - they’ve previously posted an lp for the mighty tommy boy & remixes for subpop, and had their work remixed by luminaries like mndsgn.
“if you want to” embodies their sound and the fervent cape town beats scene aptly - esoteric uk influences sit amongst ambient soundscapes and a cracked breakbeat, pinned on a looped bassline - growing in intensity but using the most subtle of touches.

first release on trevor jacksons new unreleased archive recordings label pre- is a timeless collection of twisted techno, militant ebm and filthy electro produced by jackson himself and featuring vocals from douglas (nitzer ebb) mcarthy & chloe from c.a.r. originally produced in 2003 as a playgroup side project, pinklunch made its debut with a demo track on a dj hell international deejay gigolo compilation, tracks also appeared on compilations for the exclusive parisian department store collette and the berlin club f.u.n. the album lay in hibernation for nearly 15 years, gathering digital dust, rediscovered in 2014 trevor lovingly re-edited and remastered the original mixes as well as getting guest vocalists douglas mcarthy from nitzer ebb and chloe from c.a.r to appear on two tracks.

bienvenue beton! a brand-new act making his mark straight out of the block. little is known about him besides the fact hes from belgium, hes clearly a graduate of the hardfloor school of knocks, hes invested in some serious analogue gear and he knows his way around a kick-ass groove! his latest project sees the launch of his own label trek u plan, which will also have a vinyl imprint. the debut release is the double header balloon/juegd already picking up major support from francois k, catz & dogz, phil kieran, slam, marco carola, psychatron to name a few. balloon is raw rumbling techno hybrid with the backbone a dark thundering drum and sharp pummelling hi hats. jeugd is a collaboration between beton & fellow belgian stealdrum, who introduce flanger madness that transitions into a warm stabbing synth, giving the track it s funk. it is rooted in classic ideas yet updated with the mind on present. for the remix of jeugd, schmutz delivers a uncompromising belter reminiscent of the i love techno days with the likes of dj rush and dave clarke. using one of the long synths in jeugd it creates a tension throughout that, together with frantic drums, give the track immense drive. beton recently presented his debut release on pets records, immediately getting support from carl cox, eats everything, paul ritch, huxley, anja schnieder, yousef, sidney charles, sante and many more. showcasing his raw sound, with straight to the floor slabs of gritty technoid machine funk, bruxelles paid homage to the citys visceral new beat and ebm roots but with contemporary muscle and a titanium jacking groove almost wink-like hypnosis to the acid as it stripped back. voice 64 continued this theme of stark leftfield savagery, once again another physical, concentrated piece of frank, honest techno. pressed on black vinyl in a hand stamped sleeve. early support from francois k, marco carola, audio injection, davide squillace, sasha carassi, slam, luigi madonna

future music from new kanada s frontman adam marshall. sometimes its hard to categorize certain tracks and these ones are from outa space. it reminds me a lot of the time when we all discovered the first playhouse records from isolee, losoul and soylent green. magic moments which at first listen maybe not seem to work on the dancefloor because they are too challenging, but if you find the right moment they gonna work wonder…tip!

if you are wondering what the artist wanted to tell you by choosing this title, we will give you a small hint: it’s a cynical statement on something that for sure every party promoter has experienced at some point. the rest, we will leave up to your imagination… in real life, there’s no mercy – neither is when it comes to the sound of this new snork release by syntax error. the four new tracks with meaningful names are not only a social criticism and another artistic processing of the current development of the techno scene, but also a classic syntax error: rough, tricky and good to groove. each track stands on its own, telling another story. “collateral cosmopolitan” is a straight forward piece with a highly memorable beat talking about the uniformity that is creeping in the waiting lines of more and more techno clubs. “i wear my grandpa’s glasses” presents a totally dodgy sound, which might be a little oldschool and even a little irritating – just like some fashion items you encounter on today’s big city streets. “no fog is no solution” is a tight song that definitely needs some good fog and a harsh strobe. and finally, the last track sounds like a futuristic fairy tale from outer space looking on the world as if it is a “society bathysphere”.

vinyl only, alex took his first musical steps by studying piano and guitar at the young age of 6. his fascination for the more outlandish, experimental side of each instrument corrupted his lessons and sent him down a modular synths and tape loop composition wormhole. years later alex resurfaced, got himself clean and, through connections made while spending time as a vocal audience member (and sometimes uninvited participant) at lyman woodard, phil ranelin, and other tribe- and motown-linked gigs in cass corridor during the mid-1970s, spent time as a session musician for earth wind and fire, chic, and prince. it was only toward the mid-90s he found himself enthralled by the techno and house sounds of detroit and chicago so he went into the woodshed and came out firing electronic salvos.

moto music round off a cracking year with this essential collection of deep diving techno finery from bigeneric, one of marco repetto s many long-lasting aliases. the swiss polymath is a dab hand at wringing illustrious machine soul out of his machines, whether it be crafty, head-snagging rhythms or plush and expressive threads of synth work, and on this double pack you get an abundance of both. with one foot firmly in the heritage of detroit and the other gazing into the stellar orbit of the finest european techno dreamers, this is elegant, thoughtful electronic music of the highest order.

ikeaboy is the intermittent project from damian tubbritt, who first debuted the moniker more than ten years ago. it s been a long while since any fresh material from this deep cover curio of oddball techno hit wax, but now wicked bass have done the honourable thing and gathered up this excellent trio of tracks. shape memory plies a funky line in squelchy bass and jangling delay trills, while living in the future opts for a more mysterious, pad soaked trip into spooked out electro. on the b-side dayna sports some forthright drum machine beats and epic sweeps of synths that only serve to confound any expectations you might have about the sound of ikeaboy.

milan based collective just this return with two va releases to continue their broken promises series. with the aim of documenting the progression of cultural movements, the label have pursued underground material since 2010. broken promises part 3 and part 4 are due for release on 1st december and 8th december respectively, and each feature four new tracks channelling refined techno with minimalist, ambient sentiments. hunter/game open part 3 with distance, a meditative journey through ambient textures using expansive synths and vast acoustics. next, architectural brandishes 808 drums for a tense workout on electric soul. on the b-side, label co-owner pisetzky explores the darker side of minimal on anterial, whilst altman plays with moody bass and ricocheting percussion on shapes. part 4 opens with a shuffling rhythmic framework on inlands aechmea, followed by zona, a pointillist groove by ben gibson, aka one half of the collaborative project dyad. on my flowers kundal, a cyclical melody wanders through eerie acoustics whilst hiver navigates a broken beat framework with glitchy distortions and dub echoes on stellar parallax landing

perc’s third album “bitter music” pushed his sound to further extremes than ever before when released in april of this year, winning widespread acclaim and launching a worldwide tour to support it. now the album returns with two eps of interpretations for a diverse selection of remixers most of whom are new to perc trax. this first ep of remixes takes in head front panel’s constantly building, pulsating version of deep album moment “the thought that counts”, hodge’s bristol meets london meets berlin stepping take on “chatter” and a screwfaced broken version of album opener “exit” by rising blackest ever black star pessimist.

perc trax completes its duo of “bitter music” remix eps with this three tracker that aims directly for the dance floor. opening up proceedings is dax j, who has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the last few years and who here serves up an irresistible take on “unelected” fueled by the driving energy his productions and sets have become famous for. next up stroboscopic artefacts boss lucy layers shifting textures over popping kick drums for a version of “wax apple” that perfectly blends form and function. lastly matrixxman, himself another of the key break out artists of the last few years, takes control of “rat run” and morphs in into a rolling drum track built on rolling toms and topped off with dubbed out elements of perc’s original mix.

this ep is the expression of beauty beyond the darkness, each record was born at a time of emotional instability. zenmorg hides his inner multitudes behind a strong drum line, hypnotic jingles and melodic bass.

the invariants is back with a fourth release on his self-titled imprint. after recent outings on the dutch labels delsin records and nous klaer, the amsterdam based producer steps back into his own world and delivers four trademark acidic machine work-outs. dreamy atmospheres, slo-mo electro patterns and a powerful haunting ambient piece as a closer.

in 1996 serotonin label heads selway and szostek went to moscow to perform at the invitation of &#1055,&#1058,&#1070,&#1063, magazine. synapse performed at the -waterclub- and met the legendary dj compass vrubell. they went to his -studio- where he had perfected the art of making entire tracks out patterns on the yamaha dx-5. szostek brought a dat of these jams back to nyc and schmer-003 dj rx-5 -a taste for crap- was released as a small run white label in 97. the run sold out and disappeared to be forgotten forever... until 2016 szostek casually mentions its existence to techno uber-nerd nina kraviz who just had to have it for her -fabric 91- cd. so dj rx-5 was back from the ash heap of history and schmer got a new release from him on schmer07. then schmer got the word out far and wide that they d like a remix ep for two of the originals: compass provided stems because like a miracle he still had the patterns after 20 years. heeding the call were pointsman, tripmastaz, steve stoll and schmer s own bpmf. so this is what you get: -a taste for remix-. it will leave your lips wanting more, for sure!

having crept out of the tape undergrowth and respected haunts like clan destine and always human to earn more civilized recognition on bank records nyc and bliq, strahinja arbutina makes the move to vivod for yet more of that edgy, leftfield techno business that keeps mothers awake at night from worry. the grit, noise and distortion has been faithfully carried through from the cassette-based roots of arbutinas sound, but these tracks are more than ready to do the damage in the dance (where you re less likely to find a tape deck). hold on tight as the likes of way ahead give the sound engineer a fright when they think the system has overloaded.

with its sixth release new york trax continues the mission of highlighting the jewels of the new york underground. liquid asset is a philadelphia-born brooklyn-based hardware virtuoso who has made a name for herself by virtue of appearances on labels such as e-saggila s summer isle brooklyn s own primitive languages jacktone and acid etch where she has recently delivered a furious 7- split with isabella. liquid asset built her own 808 and 303 clones by hand. the modified 303 is particularly audible in the opening track of the record -ephemeral nights- where she did not waste time on an intro and went straight to creating a sonic pandemonium by blending an airhorn sound with frenzy acid basslines and a hardcore-leaning 909 kick. -contact- is a merciless creature of the night with its relentless dark groove building up throughout this composition cannot easily be classified as a representation of any particular genre. -controlperception- opens the b side. here liquid asset plays with a cheerful acid line over a dreamy landscape often punctured with bleeping sounds. finally in -forgetmenot- two opposite sounding basslines intertwine creating a minimal yet very capturing composition to close this one of a kind record.

damon eliza palermo returns to lovers rock with cathedral, an ep of inky, shadowy atmospheres. opening with the stunning title track, palermo summons a hi-def miasma of gongs and synths, searching and incantatory. congquin rumbles through a tar pit of groaning static and radio interference, while karangahape road floats through 5+ minutes of undulating sighs. finally cathedral gets reworked for the dance floor with an extended, exuberant techno meltdown.

recently, superpitcher was invited to go on a safari in south africa. he bought a custom made safari hat at his favorite milliner in cologne (ju&#776,,,rgen eifler) and set off with big eyes and a pair of binoculars. it was wild and wonderful and he saw many exotic (and big!) animals, even a leopard in a tree that told him the secret of the universe. he forgot what the leopard said because his mind was still playing and replaying the sound of what he heard on the first night of his arrival – the hypnotic and moving sound of the voices of africa, the voices of the wonderful tanda tula staff choir. there, the choir members work during the day at the camp and at night entertain the guests with their captivating voices and energetic dancing. so impressed was he with their songs and beautiful shangaan language that he decided to record a cd for them to sell in the shop at their camp and now this precious recording is also available through hippie dance / bush recordings on vinyl and cd for you in whatever wherever camp you are. the lp of the tanda tula choir comes with a very pretty poster.

berlin based producer synthek is a renowned name within contemporary techno. besides succesfully running his label natch records, he has been also a resident at the infamous tresor.
for the seventeenth installment in the string of attic music releases, synthek (luca landolfi) comes up with a staggering ep that contains a lot of adventurous drum patterns, bold arrangements and swells of daring fx.
on the a side we find “loser”, which is a brave cut of spherical yet moody techno that uses a buldging percussion line and otherwordly fx to create an ominous vibe. “uneven mind” is an exotic cut with tough drum sounds that uses a hypnotic synth swell that cuts throughout to create an alarming atmosphere. french producer and concrete resident antigone comes up with an uplifting (eight minutes long) remix for “uneven mind” on the b side which is beautifully orchastrated throughout. “faithless” is a percussive cut with intense fx blips.

let your brain slowly melt to the delightful sounds of dima disk. having first heard their music via the palace x bronze skate video a year or so ago, we did a bit of digging and it turned out to be by a duo called dima disk, one half of whom was an old glasgow pal called ragnar and robert nikolajev from tallinn s legendary club lekker. you may have heard their recent ripper on porridge bullet. having been fans of the shit coming out of estonia for a good few years and also having a thing for releasing music from our glasgow connections we felt that this needed to come out as a rad 12-.

the fifth and final volume of random numbers split series is released. a split of the most experimental italian scene in 5 volume. to each artist is assigned a side of a c50 cassette, in which to let the music speak without compromises. volume 5 is entrusted to attilio novellino and collin mckelvey. the latest issue of the split series wants to be a bridge to future random numbers publications. in this case the two artists involved instead of dividing the two sides of the cassette decided to merge their productions into a collaboration. started in 2014, the collaboration between attilio novellino and collin mckelvey produced two albums: hypehunt and me&#768,,taphisiques cannibales. sons of the same approach, shared by similar sound sources and similar compositional techniques, the two works find in the different suggestions around which they are made, the specificity that allows them to grasp its essence, autonomous and complementary at the same time.

the 3rd lp in the series air afrique records presents is a journey which leads more to club-tracks. it starts with an uprising afro-track performed by the camroun rapper the tale (a.k.a. zeegee) in pidgin english. the last track of the a side is a tribute to the fast techno-like style funana which is very popular on cabo verde islands. the b-side is going straight into tropical bass and ends with an pure simple straight foreward electro-tech track.

following a live debut at berghain and standout shows at de school and institut fuer zukunft, daniel martin-mccormick returns as relaxer with the fourth installment in the projects eponymous ep series. jamie lee takes over the a-side harrowing screams are framed by strobing chords and a deadly groove. simultaneously euphoric, agonizing and cathartic, jamie lee was written as the climax of relaxers live set and is a prime example of the artists uniquely feral techno. drawing equally on punk confrontations and more haunting emotional explorations, jamie lee is a lacerating and visceral descent. on the b-side, unwind oozes from the speakers, a miasmic cut that builds on the white knuckle tension of jamie lee. a lone synth figure worms its way through pulsating 3d drones, shimmering dissonances and hiccuping drums, rocking out into a quasi catatonic infinity. finally regime change gently floats on the surface of a trash-filled sea, a fading, smog choked reverie.
