maeve are thrilled to welcome long time friend kev sheridan to the label for his debut release. kev is one of the most talented musicians they know and its an honor for them to release his first work to the world. this project has been developing over the past few years and now this record showcases the deep musicality and talent kev has.
future music from new kanada s frontman adam marshall. sometimes its hard to categorize certain tracks and these ones are from outa space. it reminds me a lot of the time when we all discovered the first playhouse records from isolee. losoul and soylent green. magic moments which at first listen maybe not seem to work on the dancefloor because they are too challenging. but if you find the right moment they gonna work wonder…tip!
maeve is the record label run by three close friends. mano le tough. the drifter and baikal. some years ago. mano and the drifter ran a clubnight in berlin called passion beat. aera was their guest a couple of times. its very fitting that aera now joins us for maeve 06. aera s original you know juno comprises of warm arps and a dark hypnotic bassline over a jacking house beat. on first hearing the track. the drifter was keen to do a remix. his interpretation is a dark take on the original. boosting the bassline. adding a driving beat and pushing the drama to high levels.
maeve kicks off their first label compilation heavy rotations vol 1 . covering all facets of the labels sound with tracks from mano le tough. isolée. oliver deutschmann. ed davenport. aera and more. comes as 3 lp in a specially designed cover consisting of 3 differently printed innersleves in a cut out outersleeve.
mano le tough is set to release his second 12inch on maeve. the label he cofounded with baikal and the drifter in 2012. the label was born from the idea to release hypnotic dancefloor dedicated music. and this release certainly stays true to that. big words from the small mouth arrives on the a side of maeve 11 with quite the clatter. searing synth jams scatter over a brooding kick/sub bass combo. the sharp crisp percussion drives the track forward all the time. while various bleets. squeals and swells develop throughout giving the track a raw rave vibe. arganol on the flip is a trippy affair. touching 9 mins long. this track feels like mano le tough right from the outset. patient in its approach whilst slowly telling the listener its story. the narrative unravels through woozy melodies and melancholic cameos culminating in a burst of movement and energy perfect for the wee hours of a dancefloor.
repress! when three people run a label together it is exceptionally rare to find a positive unified opinion of a record on first listen. when isolée sent his -mangroove- ep to maeve. this was in fact what happened. but it is isolée after all.... mangroove came about last summer when the drifter happened to catch isolée s live set at a festival in switzerland. instantly blown away by the a side -pisco- he was determined to find out what it was and if it was to be released. after chatting. isolée suggested that he would send -pisco- along with a couple of other -demos- to maeve and a few days later the ep was happening. isolée has created some of the most important and beautiful records of our generation and has being a huge influence on what we do. thus we are incredibly excited and humbled to release his work. this three track ep shows several different sides of the frankfurt native. from the a-side dance floor catalyst that is -pisco- to the deeper dubbier b-sides of -l5 syndrome- and -mangrove-. this is the perfect record to mark our tenth release.
maeve 09 is a special record. it welcomes the return of one of the founding members of the label. baikal. although the dutchman has had somewhat of a hiatus from releasing music. his hard work and struggle with the process of creating forward thinking electronic music has always continued. “pelican’s flight” reaps the rewards of this carefully nurtured process and proves most definitely it was worth the wait. the title track “pelican’s flight” is a mesmerizing ten-minute techno trip. a throbbing kick drum is decorated with sparkling synth lines all moving on their own orbit creating a trance like effect on the dance floor. the pinnacle of the trip hears rasping chords blast through the swell in a glorious moment of elation. in short this is a bomb. the b-side “all forces occur in pairs” goes deeper again. drawing the listener into a similar hypnotic state. various sonic ideas breathe in and out of the foreground creating a swirl of expectancy and excitement. this track will cause you to close your eyes and be carried away to another dimension… maeve are honored to add this record to their repertoire.
maeve is the record label run by three close friends. mano le tough. the drifter and baikal. for maeve’s eighth outing it has enlisted the talents of long time friend ed davenport. the record grew from a chance hearing of some new material at eds studio one night and after a brief discussion it was decided that the tracks would find a fitting home at maeve. although recently more known for his harder techno releases under the moniker inland. silver walks is some what a return to eds roots. slower. emotive. more contemplative tracks. recorded over a pretty short period of focused studio time. silver walks is a synth-led jam. the arpeggiator holds pride of place as the centre of the tune with filter tweaks complementing its progression. kuromaku has a tougher attitude - heady and cosmic with a deep kick. it means black curtain in japanese.
maeve is the record label run by three close friends. mano le tough. the drifter and baikal. after his excellent remix of baikals why dont ya. maeve is delighted to welcome back our friend ripperton with his own this. what remains release. two beautifully deep tracks that hit their hypnotic momentum when you let them run their full course. epic burners for special moments.
maeve is the record label run by three close friends. mano le tough. the drifter and baikal. maeve 04 is the drifter s debut on the label. and his first original music since late 2012 for permanent vacation. again showcases a tougher side to his productions. the again ep consists of 2 tracks. both aimed firmly at the dancefloor. again is a rolling 10 minute trip. with some twists and turns along the way. blocks with its tougher. ahem. blockier beats and soaring synths is a more upfront affair.
maeve 03 is mano le toughs debut on the label. and his first original music since his album >changing days< in spring 2013. tempus ep consists of 3 very different tracks. which showcase the different sides of manos productions. title track tempus is a warm melodic burner. return to yoz certainly a dancefloor moment. sorry is a useless word is mano the haus romantiker. returning to a style reminiscent of his album.
maeve is the new label from man of the moment mano le tough & his friend since the schoolyard the drifter. in an age of endless releases and labels maeve aims to release beautiful. special records that will last in the hearts of the public. maeve 01 comes from the enigmatic baikal. a berlin-based friend of both mano and the drifter. his unreleased material inspired the pair to launch the label. following huge responses worldwide in manos dj sets over the past few months. the duo are very proud to be releasing these tracks on their new imprint. the drifter provides guest vocals on >just you and me<. which is a tripped out banger in the best possible meaning of the word. the other side of the record might actually prove to be the hit. >why dont ya?< is a deep psychedelic masterpiece. the breakdown reaches a point that is both transcendent and captivating. there is clearly the work of a master.
