roberto lodola is one of the first italian deejay and producers devoted to the afro and balearic sound from the early eighties and still active in the north side of italy. best record has rediscovered his first studio project from 1986 marimba do mar with the precious addiction of two outtakes: feeling of the sun and hey george!. four essential songs for everyone involved in the balearic genre, now very hard to find but finally reissued as a remastered limited edition!
ltd to 275 copies - for the eighth release on roberto’s fossil archive imprint, a very special collaboration which was produced by roberto and the late trevino (aka marcus intalex) shortly before his tragic passing in 2017 is poised. the release features three original cuts, along with a previously unreleased remix roberto put together of ‘black cat’ which featured on trevino’s album ‘front’. the music speaks for itself. however, to honour marcus, a short poem has been put together by one of his closest friend’s.
roberto clementi delivers his cadmio ep on echocord sub-label echo echo this october, containing four original tracks from the italy-based artist. kenneth christiansens echo echo imprint, offers up its fifth release here, accurately reflecting his appetite for the more celestial, dubbed out side of techno. this release sees the return of roberto clementi to the echo platform after three releases on the parent imprint, echocord plus 10 years worth of released music to his name, notably a number of eps and an album on soma. the ep kicks off with a fresh dub induced charmer entitled conte which in italian translates to with you, and stands as an accurate tag for this warm and intimate opener. irradi follows, a more upbeat and industrious dance track – with euphoric synth lines sitting harmoniously in between the more uniform percussion before stimulating crashing symbols are introduced in the latter stages. title-track cadmio is up next, a more dropped-tempo, electro tinged number, with off-kilter drum patterns gracefully balancing amongst the alluringly sedative melody. the b2 and final track blue growth’ then provides a close to the ep with a lo fi 4/4 drum pattern together with hardened snares and crashes contrasted by delicate dub swells providing feelings of symmetry a theme that is consistent throughout the whole ep.
the original, previously unreleased soundtrack of the umberto lenzi cannibal movie from 1980. the extremely violent exploitation production “mangiati vivi! (eaten alive!) is still banned in most countries but received on youtube unbelievable 815 000 hits. certainly also because of it’s amazing score which was produced and written by italian composer roberto donati and maria fiamma maglione.
moc’s alek s returns to the mothership with his third full ep, dropping just in time for the label’s third birthday. kicking off the release in style, „consciousness outline“ lays down the groundwork for a solid slice of punchy techno. featuring a minimal array of elements, which aptly intertwine instead of seeing new layers pile up, it’s a gradual build up of a powerful groove. hypercolour & soma records alum roberto clementi takes on remix duties, revamping „consciousness outline“ into a cavernous techno affair. switching the main focus on the percussive leads proves a good venture, as it results into a piece with major dance appeal. „penny drop“ dives in with a spacious loop, which keeps centre stage throughout the entire construction. overall, it’s an airy track, with ample pads and a loose yet gripping melody. „neverending“ rounds off the pack in an atmospherical, upbeat fashion. ascending synth pads make for an uplifting ambiance, all set on a backbone of electrifying percussion.
roberto aglieri is a noted italian flutist and composer, and his 1987 album ragapadani stands as one of his finest achievements. archeo recordings are ever hip to the finest treasures hidden away in the folds of esoteric music, italian or otherwise, and have done a great service in reissuing the album so that it might reach a wider audience. on this limited white marble edition of the album, aglieri s flute sounds haunting and evocative over the range of delicate synth treatments, largely orbiting the minimal realm but with a naive charm that makes the music wholly accessible at the same time. soothing, thoughtfully crafted music for tender times.
four years after his excellent eclipse 12-, roberto auser is back on a rotterdam staple: pinkman. color your soul has adopted some, but not all, of its older brother s attributes. lumbering with menacing intent, the title piece leaves wreckage in its bruising wake. -do you want to believe- is cut from the same deviant cloth. grunting rhythms stomp on tortured strings, industrial shrieks cry beneath the boot of a raging beat. the closer, -wake u up-, has auser toying with his victim. steam hisses, acid lines bulge, pistons pound and sirens blare in this boiled work of brooding brutality.
harrison bdp steps up for the inaugural release from artesian sounds kicking things off with one of harrison’s most anticipated tracks to date. “it’s foggy outside” has been rescued from the confines of the world wide web remastered and revamped to finally get its first taste of wax. foggy had everyone grooving from the get go and now will hit harder and deeper every time.
the flip sees harrison showing off his knack for the garage shuffle and straight-up, no fuss, late night bangers. roberto s wraps things up providing his own playful rendition of the a-side track, building on those blissful chords with crystal clear arps and a bounding rhythm. a perfect summer’s day encapsulated...
identitatem ep is a perfect falling point in marco bruno s dimension, old-school shades meets a powerful wave of basses and 909 drums for an outstanding work composed by three original tracks and a remix by roberto clementi. let introduce you this guy who already detains brilliant releases on decoy, flash rec, sk black, and many more. we re waiting for his debut on dynamic reflection.
both roberto and his own fossil archive label continue to go from strength to strength. roberto has consistently delivered at dj bookings that have seen him return time and again to the likes of tresor and fabric, while the label has fast become a favourite in dj boxes and amongst techno heads. the label closed 2016 on a high with its first set of remixes from two techno legends, sterac and rolando. and now for the first release of 2017 roberto is thrilled to draft in the refined skills of fachwerk’s roman lindau. roberto has of course released on fachwerk in the past and been featured on the bill on more than one occasion when the berlin label have taken over berghain, so roman is a fitting and very welcome addition to his uk imprint. teaming up for ‘nerinea trinodosa’ on the a-side, roman and roberto’s production styles complement one another perfectly on this solid peak-time offering, bringing a depth and power that continues the fossil archive dedication to raw and unfaltering beats. roberto then goes it alone for ‘triage’ on the b-side, a track which was already featured on alan fitzpatrick’s recent fabric mix cd. with its tough tribal sound and deep bass, there’s some serious funk in the groove, completing another essential release from the fossil archive camp.
italian roberto clementi has really struck a chord in the hearts of northerners, with releases on scottish soma, danish echocord colour and swedish kontra-musik. perhaps it’s his ability to create evolving and often emotional melodic landscapes over raw, punchy beats that’s especially appreciated north of the wall. this is very much true for true rotary recordings, in any case, bringing roberto clementi in for the label’s second release. ‘to balance a tide’ is perfectly set in the true rotary recordings universe, combining analogue warmth with genuine musicality. there’s no question roberto clementi has soul and has willingly poured some of it into this release, the music has a considerable thickness to it that’s very pleasing to the ear, yet it’s still exceptionally artful. clementi’s soul seems to be an ancient one, given the timelessness of his tracks – old svek releases come to mind but with an added futuristic twist. this is music for dancing and music for dreaming, all in one package. true rotary recordings is run by joel alter and ena cosovic. stemming from a longstanding mutual appreciation for the combination raw techno with more seductive sounds, the label is a natural development of joel’s and ena’s musical and personal partnership. true rotary recordings represents their mutual musical vision and vibe that they love. keeping it raw and genuine.
out with old, in with the bold… pets prepare us for a fresh new year start with an early-ears peak at what they have in store for 2017. it starts right here with a techno maestro who – thanks to a deep stash of thoroughbred beats on soma, hypercolour, echocord and kontra – shouldnt require much of an introduction: roberto clementi.
no bad days is back for round 2. ‘in the galleria’ slides in with dreamlike pads and a real euphoric feel to the whole track. just right for those balearic sunsets. second on the a side is ‘celestial bodies’ - a melodic freestyle jam that makes us feel like we’re down at the arcade playing ‘out run’ on a dusty mega drive.
over to the flip we start off with the title track, ‘lunar waves’ beginning with a tougher feel it hints at a hardware acid workout... but half way in roberto hits you with those dreamy pads again and just has us in his hands for that synth solo at the end! rounding off the ep perfectly is ‘when u come around’, a real ‘end of summer sitting down at the park with your mates’ kind of track...mmm...
simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. roberto knows how to work with simplicity and make it sound sophisticate at the same time, this is dream of a solo a timeless cut that will be usefull in many occasions. 2 more cuts and a trevino remix make the work.
towards a fearless future…
roberto auser is known for his wide range of sounds and releases on viewlexx and his own ausland label. next to that he is part of kaval (vrystaete). even though his releases until now go from italo disco inspired electro to exotica and dark jazz influenced electronics his production is always rather smooth. for enfant terrible he shows his raw and dirty side. “faceless future” is an old school minimal elektro record done with analogue synths with a real industrial and post-punk attitude. this record pays tribute to (early) cabaret voltaire, (early) front 242 and (later-day) le syndicat electronique. simply minimal electronics as it should sound… rough and unpolished…
limited to 250 copies.
travelling extensively across asia and africa between 1974-1985 to study music, roberto made many field recordings and collected many instruments on his travels which he would then combine with synthesizers and electronics back in italy. big tip!
archeo recordings is a reissue record label that regenerates old, lost, obscure (and forgotten) rare gems of italian music of the 70s and 80s, and not only. all outputs are licensed by the artists and the vintage labels, audio tracks are remastered in their original form, the sleeves and center labels are graphically recreated for today but all based on the original images
we are thrilled to present roberto rodriguez s second release “broken b/w be yourself” on swedish brandy productions. this time roberto returns with two deep and stylish gems. “broken” with its jazzy, bouncing bass line, syncopated chord progressions and pumping pads gives this track its killer groove. spiced up with some great sensual vocal chops and mighty effective drops, this is definitely a track that stands up to all previous masterpieces that roberto released on many fine labels like compost, freerange, delusions of grandeur, house of disco, fina and eskimo, to name but a few
bastinov is back on etruria beat with his new space programmer ep the main title starts with an hypnotic synth sequence on a 909 based beat driving thru some drony sounds. cosmic comes next with fat arpeggios, driving the song with melancholic vibes. on the flip side roberto clementi takes the title track into darker zones with some distorted elements and drones. last comes regis, a detroit influence track which reminds you of the glory days of the motor city.
after a short hiatus, eddie c s red motorbike blazes back through we re back to the 7 inch format for this one, as eddie splits the release with long time compadre roberto who rewires a smooth tropical groover with a warm, absorbing low end, marimba noodles and an imaginary palm tree overhead on the flip eddie proves yet again why he s one of the best in the business, with a heavyweight funk strut another keeper... hand - stamped, 7 inch vinyl only business
our fourth release is a special collaboration of anthem creator and footwork label head jay lumen and the super talented roberto capuano (drumcode, truesoul), fusing their different tastes of techno. octaves ep” finds the perfect balance between banging and melodic techno. the melodic octaves” consists of vocal cuts and vigorous synths and chords while aquila” with it’s moog bass synth and breakdown theme is a true banger groove. absolute festival anthems!!
after his turn in conga radio, roberto makes his debut on good timin with four-tracks of classy bangers. leading the charge is the shuffling -junk rudder,- a piece of flanged out club gear that has the grace and grit to take any party to -that next level.- meanwhile, -atomic- is a not-quite peak-hour stomper, while -oceanic- is the sound of goa trance if the drug of choice was high-end coconut water. finally, -twilight- sounds like something bruce hornsby might cook up if he got arrested and could only talk to his lawyer through a broken moog.
soma’s italian connection, roberto clementi, makes a welcome return opening his 2016 account with the solid, “wall of people”. including a top notch remix form ilian tape label heads, marco & dario zenker. robert has slowly been building his credentials in the techno world with some fine releases and this driving number is another to add to increasing discography with soma.
the zenker brothers remix opens the ep as the munich based duo lend their deep and highly refined production talents to “wall of people”. ruptured beats play havoc with a shimmering high end and rattling percussive elements all tied in with a pulsing, modulating synth hook that keep the track feeling fairly dark. clementi’s original shows a much harder edge to his previous work with big, sub heavy beats worked around a more pumped up rhythm and tearing synth line
as 2016 rolls through, so does fossil archive with its 4th release since its highly acclaimed beginnings in february 2015. with fossil archive’s previous release featuring as “tune of the month” on mixmag’s november 2015 techno page, this next two-part ensemble sees two very different tracks leave you with little doubt that fossil archive remains inspired to be at the forefront of all things techno.
one edge society is back with the man of the moment roberto clementi. model n4 ep packs two stripped down relentless club cutz. ideal for the dance floor roberto reworks both sides and leaves no questions unanswered.
roberto capuano has delivered drumcode an immense 3 track ep that will blow out the cobwebs and see roberto step back onto drumcode with a bang. lacing each track with pads and tantalising hook lines, capuano s tracks fire on all cylinders with good use of vocals and drum rhythms. his tracks have a certain swagger that only roberto can conjure.
our twelfth release is about to come out. roberto martin signs two original tracks with a techno-dub rhythm very similar to the romanian scene. this release comes with 2 energetic remixes made by two of geniuses of the european electronic music last decades. david duriez rmx looking at techno & pablo bolivar remix with personal sound.
ltd to 300 copies , highly anticipated by both fans and music critics, fossil archive 003 is a blanket of techno adulation, full of sky-high feeling through its warm and expansive energy. ‘perisphinctes’ which received a radio exclusive on b.traits’ bbc radio 1 show in august, marks itself as part of the vanguard of modern techno. purposely incompatible with the masses, it clearly lends itself to the underground, pushing its charisma in the direction of the label’s earthy vociferation. with its driving montage, its monolithic kick and general depth, it holds its own in any given setting. evoking a weighty hospitality of sound, ‘tiziani’ supplements bleak with feel-good synth exertion. straying from the conventional framework of techno, this is a stripped back, atonal portrait of effectual techno culture. without confusion, this unblemished and wholesome howl of voice brings with it a rich, affable buzz, perfectly suiting both the big room and more intimate homely surroundings. for roberto, this far-reaching release imposes on none and invites all to clinch its hauntological embrace, and with previous releases gathering support from the who’s who of techno, it’s sure to do just that.
already played by ricardo villalobos. be fast on this one. we are glad to introduce you cht 6th release from our co-founder roberto natalini. 2000 bc is an electronic techno tune full of experimental sounds and dark atmosphere. inclhuge remixes by our friends amir alexander and franco cinelli. the additional black hawk is a very strong track with old school elements and a bouncey underground groove. artwork by daniele troiani. comes again with an outstanding cover art. chelsea hotel never fails!
the multitalented roberto auser returns to his dutch west coast dancefloor roots! heavy three tracker on the pinkman sublabel charlois, with sounds varying from tripping intergalactic tribal electro to southern space disco.
building on a series of releases on labels like true type tracks, illegal alien records, and abstract mechanisms, roberto espinosa launches his visionary rhythm designation with micelio: tecnocigalpa ep. drawing inspiration from the natural methods of decomposition and regeneration (essentially the power of mushrooms), vr’s first reference is a 3-tracker that combines social commentary with rhythmic analog and digital waves, reinforced with ceremonial shakers, percussion, and textures obtained by buried mics to propagate an elemental underground vibration, and integrates the sharpening of a machete with the hi-hats to provide the energy to cut through negativity.
roberto capuano releases his first single on truesoul with two exceptional tracks that show a techier side to roberto s sound and one that impresses throughout. the title track never stop has been a highlight in adam beyers sets and its easy to understand why. the creeping vocal and driving drums are an inaugural part of the track before the uniquely pleasing pads drop in and create a gripping and immersive track to get lost in. around is a techier track that implements a throbbing underlying bass line that sits and keeps the track driving under a roaring vocal.
