the neon judgement hail from the small town of leuven near brussels, belgium and gave birth to the new beat and ebm scenes worldwide with the release of their first two cassettes suffering (1981) and tv treated (1982). always a consistent duo of dirk da davo (synthesizers, vocals) and tb frank (guitar, drum machine, vocals) the neon judgment worked in a parallel world alongside suicide, cabaret voltaire, and the deutsche neue welle

dirk timmermans (a.k.a dirk da davo), very known for the neon judgement, have find on glenn keteleer the perfect partner for his alter ego project neon electronics / ne. their tracks count with the likes of the hacker, david carretta and millimetric, and made applauded appearances on dave clarke’s ‘white noise radio’ playlists. pounding beat bonanzas next to brooding krautrock, marshy soundscapes and twisted ebm. so yes, it’s dark and loud but it’s a darkness with a loudly beating heart. sounds to punish your body!

“informations of death” was the astonishing debut single by neon, legendary italian new wave band, formed in florence in 1979 and led by marcello michelotti (the only permanent member). were part of the florence dark wave/electronic scene of the 1980s, together with pankow, diaframma, early litfiba.

more than thirty years after the neon judgement first released tv treated, the song has reached a truly legendary status. it now gets a revamp from man of the moment jimmy edgar & germans legendary dj hell.

neon is not a common name for italian post punk lovers. born in florence, the cradle of peninsulas wave, they were probably the first important post punk gothic band in our country and they are still nowadays one of the most active band in 80s italian new wave time, still marking italian rock history.

proud yorkshire label hudd traxx have been putting out a reliable stream of quality deep house since 2005, with artists like dj sneak, rick wade, iron curtis, jay bliss and agnes just some of the many names to appear on the label. this 46th release features three debutants, while the fourth name, j.t. donaldson, spearheads the release with a wishy-washy, bassline driven deep house vocal cut -got myself together-. hudd traxx provides dusseldorf producer maximiljan with his first physical release with the track -son of a- which merges the linear 909 house style of norm talley with smooth chords and cheeky vocals similar to the now defunct swiss house duo azuni. but most interesting for the label on this release, it s the two new names in professional gigolo and tuneon that prove hudd traxx still know where to look when it comes to unearthing new and vibrant talent.

magic wire label head lone picks another smasher, aptly titled delirium tremens, from the elusive neon jung with a suitably precise re-edit from nathan fake on the b.side, fresh after his last remix for radiohead. delirium tremens takes on flavours of garage, soul and psychedelia and glues it all together with an armour plated, mutant electro backbone designed to make the dancefloor lose it for 4 minutes but still keeps the soul firmly intact. its another demonstration of neon jungs ability to take influences from many genres and join the dots to create something fresh, but with all the right reference points to make this accessible to everyone from your backpacking beat head to the hardcore club frequenters. the bass in the first drop of this track is just berserk – theres no other word for it. the b side sees nathan fake up the tempo but draw it out, making this perfect for the more patient crowd. it has nathans signature beat all over it – it rotates, swings and soars gloriously until it finally ends in a warm afterglow, complementing the original perfectly in its grower not a shower approach.
