some records are timeless and never age - -happiness is just around the bend- by the main ingredient is one of those records. originally released in 1974, -happiness- was a record before it s time - had it been released a year later it would undoubtedly have been one of the first 12- discs - so as a result, most discerning djs at the time chose to play the album cut. the song is actually a cover of uk prog-jazz band brian auger s oblivion express s version from the year before but main ingredient took the song to a whole new level and, 44 years later, it has become one of the most revered dance tunes of all-time. main ingredient were unlucky with 12- releases, which is why we re delighted to give -evening of love- it s first-ever 12- release! once again this was a 1981 album track which years later it would become a modern soul anthem and rightfully be regarded as one of their best records. fully remastered on limited edition 180 gram heavyweight vinyl.
tenderness - a short-lived disco project helmed by james purdie and skip mahoney only released one 45 and one 12” single during their brief existence. known for their work with chuck brown & the soul searchers & frank hooker & positive people and many more, this duo were undoubtedly a highly talented producer, songwriter and keyboardist combination. originally released on rca in 1978 keep on trying was an underground club hit. the record still packs an immense punch today, it’s a mixture of tough streetwise drums and percussion and swooping dramatic strings and brass will surely hit the spot for disco aficionados. the kind of record you can imagine causing all out pandemonium at the garage while the scents of amyl and sweat fill your nostrils. the kind of record that would make everyone on the raised stages and podiums at the powerhouse whoop and holler in collective joy as frankie stylishly segues it into a punishing percussion break-down. yep. it’s that kind of disco record, so rare and so coveted that even the infamous dj harvey put it over his knee and gave it a good editing way back when. there’s been a shedload of poor imitations knocking around, dodgy euro bootlegs etc, but this 2017 repress is from the master tapes (yes, we can prove it) and is fully, 100% legit in every way. keep on trying - now available again, released in conjunction with rca. back on the streets. same as it ever was! essential disco heat here, buy on sight!

limited edition us only red vinyl pressing of kings of leons new studio album. aha shake heartbreak may have blown open the doors of fame for kings of leon, but their third full length album (named for a united pentecostal church ministers conference) could well usher the nashville foursome directly to rock and rolls zenith. theres hardly a change in plans for the three followill brothers and their cousin, and that means producer ethan johns, a smorgasbord of musical influences, and a cacophonous ensemble of guitar, bass, and drums. a trio of relentless rockers - my party, camaro, and the sarcastic charmer - are sure to pacify those familiar with the kings blueprint, yet there is ripening in the bands approach heard, in several of the records 13 songs. reverb guitar and vocals and a woo woo chorus add a sinister aspect to trunk, and knocked up features a laissez faire caleb followill crooning she dont care what her mama said / shes gonna have my baby. the seven minute revelation of fatherhood that opens the album leads into the u2 influenced mcfearless, a reggae splashed ragoo, and the rambling english blues of black thumbnail. its a rogue element that has always left every record fresh, and this time it has kings of leon teetering on the edge of rock renown.
