while unveiling the * mutant tournament* quartet last year, label boss nachtbraker was quietly hunting for new music behind the scenes. being the fine huntsman he is, he came out of the woods with sonic bits and bobs so delectable he had no choice but to spread them out over two brand new quartets. thats right, eight records in total, to be released over the course of the next 18 months. were delighted to introduce you to scott franka, whos at the helm of the first missive. this creative head from amsterdam has been making music since the tender age of 11, but it wasnt until he adopted his scott franka moniker that he really found his groove.

impulsive and intuitive hardware house & techno from vancouver duo minimal violence aka ashlee luk & lida p. the five tracks on night gym soundtrack urban landscapes, textured synths, heavy kicks, and dense polyrhythms come together to form the duo s own brand of outsider house. citing influence from both minimal synth and chicago house, night gym arrives hot off the heels of the duo s self titled ep on dublin based first second label which closely examined the intersections that lay between punk and techno. recorded in february/march 2016 in the duo s home studio, the instinctual nature of live work flow plays an important role in the duo s creative process. utilizing hardware (sh-101, tr-606/505/707, waldorf blofeld, juno-60, dx-21, mpc1000) in addition to sourced samples with final compositions compiled and manipulated in ableton, night gym is an example of the duo s diverse interests and collaborative nature. the duo recruited visual support from chicago based graphic designer kevin mccaughey of nonporous for the distinct imagery of night gym. as well he designed the poster that comes in the 12- and screen printed a limited run of long sleeve t-shirts available through boot boys biz.

dreamy california pads witness the strength of russian street knowledge, managing to stay afloat as grinding 808’s pull towards the underground. euphoric and elegant throughout, jg03 is top-down cruiser house with an attitude, and it’s exclusively from jungle gym.

jungle gym records presents districts, the official debut of newcomer lac seul. through endless whirlpools and over cliff-side, jg02 is at home neither on land nor sea, wading in the shallows of the dreary pacific coast. in the end, it’s only after the tide has gone that one can see what’s left behind.

having previously lent her quirky voice to the london based cosmic jazz collective nostalgia 77 and renowned german beatmaker dexter, josa peit settled into the lab and developed an intriguing musical sphere of her own. on her debut ep constellation, josa peit has crafted her own brand of soul miniatures, emerging under influences of house, disco, krautrock, psych, and hip hop.

pascal pinkert aka dollkraut is a unique specimen in todays world of clean and sterile music production. the dutch producer is best described as an analogue sound wizard with a golden touch for pop moments. his music often sounds like a past that was more beautiful, more broken and more glimmering than it actually was. dollkraut dares to sound like no one else, cinematic and glamorous, rough and haunting. his tracks are driven by a deep love for old lo-fi fuelled recordings,70s space age synths and john barry or ennio morricone fuzziness galore.
