proper mixed bag this one soothing, grinding, banging, and disturbing! new york city by way of miami, alex suarez delivers his debut lp the eight track autogolpe for l.i.e.s. autogolpe, is a term for military coup initiated by a dictator to take control of an existing government and suarez uses this loose idea to create the sonic equivialent of the pain, strife, oppression, isolation, and joyous freedom associated with said act. musically he expands on his prior releases for bank and primitive languages as heavy industrialized sonic beatings sit next to somber passages, oil drum slow beat tribal clangers provide a back drop for screams shooting out of the dark. musically it paints a distorted picture of world in decline, an exile from another land and arrivial to anothers in chaos or the clinging hope of something better on the other side.

detroit s keith tucker is a man of many names, the man behind aux-88, alien fm, dj k-1, optic nerve and more. if you have even a vague interest in the motor city s electronic output of the last 20+ years his name will be instantly recognisable as someone who turns out the highest calibre electro and techno jams, the type of records that look towards the future for inspiration, existing in the subterranea and sharing the same artistic vision of artists like juan atkins drexciya, erik travis, shake, dj stingray and many more. originally released on scottish imprint seventh sign recordings in 2005 detroit saved my soul is a modern classic. it features all the hallmarks of classic 313 techno and electro which is to be expected with tucker behind the boards. first cut it s a mood (detroit saved my soul) is minimalism done right - stripped back drums with minor synth stabs punctuating flurries of vocoders and kt s voice describing the d as he sees it to us via the medium of music. killer stuff. elektronik is up next, almost classically a-u-x sounding, pure electro beats for the heads. fast paced machine funk from 50 years time beamed back to 2017 to tell us what s really up. oh, watch that bassline, you could get into trouble. finishing the ep we are treated to my mental state , a slower paced, psychedelic electro cut with killer drums and rim-shots featuring, again, kt s vox weaving in and out of the mix asking where are you, what are you doing? . absolutely essential tracks from a modern day techno legend. essential stuff. detroit saved my soul has been legitimately re-released with the full involvement of keith tucker / seventh sign recordings for 2017 and remastered by london s curve pusher from the original sources especially for mint condition. 100% legit, licensed and released. dug, remastered, repackaged and brought to you by the caring folks at your new favourite reissue label - mint condition!

since its inception, shifted s avian imprint has gone from being a murderous, straight-laced techno imprint to what has now become a source for some of the best and most multi-faceted industrial music from the european quarters. we re not sure of verge s true identity, it could either be one of the label s existing artists, the mysterious shifted himself, or even an artist like blawan riding incognito (don t quote us on that, though!) solitary and crest-fallen, this magnetic collection of tunes feed off one another with utter ease and simplicity. they re not merely a selection of sound experiments but rather a unitary cloud of sonics which leave the listener with a powerful mental image. the feeling of dusk, the water dropping off the leaves, the cold breeze of autumn. this is a blinding foray into the darkest corners of contemporary industrial experimentation.

after studying dance, kirikoo des aka nsdos, felt the need to create his own sound in order to explore movement. this is how he started imagining a whole new sonic order, an alternative approach to music – through abstraction. nsdos can’t restrain himself to existing technological tools and softwares, he prefers creating his own mediums: futurist instruments made of old audio converters (carte son), gameboy emulators, pieces of metal dismantled and weld together giving form to surreal machines. surrounded by his hybrid tools, nsdos unravels the rectilinear anatomy of techno music. textures are exploded, sounds mutilated, and brought back to their essence. this sonic odyssey, nsdos initiated in his native town paris before exploring it deeper in berlin – a city that he sees as a giant laboratory in which he experimented the field of possibilities. a huge admirer of the dada and lettrism movements, nsdos can be considered as the offspring of a diy culture. he ranks among his icons artists such as christian marley, stelarc or donna haraway who gave him a desire to push the limits of the body, objects and sound. his alternative vision and the way he reinterprets technological tools have made him one of the most important techno hackers of his generation. nsdos doesn’t create, he regenerates and transmutes music. his creative path is empirical, sometimes organic as he puts sensors on insects, his public in trance, trees – everything that comes on his way – and transcribes their movement into sounds. after three maxis, lazer connect in 2013, female guest list in 2015 both signed on parisian music label clekcleckboom recordings and money exchange published in 2016 on his label standalone complex, his new album, intuition, intervenes as the completion of his organic vison of music. inspired by meteorological stations and according to a principle of « bio feedback », nsdos surveyed the movements of nature, turned into data before translating them into sounds, textures and rhythms. the album comes with a series of 5 videos detailing the creative process of the artist – from recording in the middle of nature to the studio. in intuition, nsdos splinters the boundaries between genres and places techno as a matrix. his album reveals his sense of discipline, one that he draws from his passion from japanese dance buto, as well as his interest for biology, his experimental aura through industrial, sometimes nearly metal sounds. all these elements form the essence of whole new movement, unclassifiable, of which he constantly pushes the frontiers.

tobias. returns to ostgut ton with his third full length eyes in the center and expands the musical narrative laid out by his helium sessions ep (o-ton, 2016). the berghain resident keeps exploring the vast modular synth-driven techno, experimental and ambient territories on a journey in-between genres. tobias freund is long established as an influential artist and has – since the early 1990s – been working as a professional producer, sound engineer, label owner and strictly live musician. besides his early solo projects (such as pink elln, metazone or phobia) he’s also been collaborating with dandy jack (as sieg Über die sonne), ricardo villalobos (as odd machine), max loderbauer (as nsi.), valentina berthelon (as recent arts) and atom tm to only name a few. with his vast experience, diverse output and interests, tobias. doesn’t tire to actively push against existing boundaries and explore new areas of electronic music.

in 2014, k’valentine linked up with javotti media, a label owned by hip hop star talib kweli, and began to work on her third mixtape, million dollar baby. million dollar baby finds k’valentine rhyming over tracks that are new as well as her versions of existing hits, giving the listener a well rounded perspective of a young lady that can lyrically spar with the best of them. you can also find k’valentine’s contributions to the world of music on javotti media’s mixtape, the cathedral, which placed k in the company of esteemed artists such as big k.r.i.t. joell ortiz, curren$y, niko is and more. in 2015 k was featured on the joint album from talib kweli and 9th wonder, indie 500 and in 2016 she was featured on the latest javotti media’s mixtape, awful people are great at parties, with production from some of the top names in the game including kaytranada, hi tek and the late great j dilla. k’valentine’s love for music has given her a calling, and she is here to answer that call. the music she makes is not just wonderful for the listener, but has also been her therapy to get through life’s trying times.as beautiful as she is talented, her experience is valuable and her voice is needed. her debut album, here for a reason, is now set to be released. experience k’valentine and enjoy!

underground slick yet daring chicago veteran emcee gilead7 of the windy city super collective tomorrow kings has completed yet another audio diamond to accompany the already existing brilliance of his nationally and internationally distributed collection of uniquely-created albums. known and respected by his scattered international cult following for not only his record collaborations and stage sharing with everyone from vast aire and a.g. but also his sonically experimental and lyrically razor-edged abrasive -art rap- for over 12 years, gilead has etched an indelible place for himself in indie hip-hop, combining aggressive universe creation and quirky nerdom in ways that only he could pull off

the berlin-based producer is kicking off his label with a four-track single. while he is perhaps not as name-checked as some of the hardware hawking house heads of modern times, arttu snellman has been working hard at gritty box jams for a good few years now. he first appeared under his arttu guise in 2011 with the nuclear funk and fear diluted singles on royal oak and philpot respectively, and then proceeded to wheel out tunes for 4 lux and chiwax over the ensuing years. prior to the tough-edged pump of his current ventures, you could find snellman indulging in a more laptop-centric kind of practice under the name lump. this more minimalistic, glitchy house fodder could be found on labels such as karloff, morris/audio and süd electronic amongst many others. back in the here and now though, arttu was last spotted on clone jack for daze earlier this year with the rave dogz 12”, and next up he’s taking matters into his own hands. existing fans of arttu will be more than pleased with the heavyweight, crunchy tackle that inhabits cyblo01. this is dynamic business with same heft found on previous releases from snellman, mixed in with the cheeky flair that has always marked his productions out in a crowded marketplace.

fifty first recordings was created in 1994 out of a small but very productive studio in london called state 51 using the down time and the very talented engineers who had been brought together for state 51 s existing clients. state 51 was the go to studio for the likes of x-press 2, sharp, amalgamation of soundz. the engineers we worked with included mark woolford, james brown, james reynolds & mark yardley. fifty first recordings soon found a name for itself and was very quickly at the forefront of the new generation of uk garage music. we produced and released music in the 90s, for over 7 years, with the likes of tuff jam etc. and later went to develop other imprints such as konnect / test press / unda vybe / spread love / tick etc., some in partnership with producers and managed artists.

known for his more elegant and subtle atmospheric techno music though, conforce is never afraid of deviating from his safe zone. sometimes a change of environment can bring new musical influences and shine new light on existing musical projects. there is a small narrative about this release. what happens when you place an island boy in an multicultural harbour metropolitan city? stuff might get a little bit more rough edged from time to time. a transition from the serene tranquility of the islandic coasts to the impatient impulsiveness rush of the metropolitan city. narrative collapse ep contains music created though more impulsive machine jamming. be ready to get a fix of rotterdams real danger. play loud!
