norm de plume has been quietly making a name for himself the last eight years with remixes for tornado wallace and ben la desh and ep’s for kolour ltd and his own vinyl only imprint plumage winning him a solid following along the way. his passion for all things disco and deep, dubby, underground house inspired by his musical hero ron hardy feeds through into his production style as well as his recently formed peaches & prunes party which boasts an audiophile sound system and vinyl-only sets from the djs. so when the opportunity arose to do a full ep with norm we jumped at it. here we present you with the castlecrag ep, a nod to the londoners new adoptive home of sydney, australia, and whilst his sound may be more akin to the recent musical movements of melbourne, the laid-back sun-kissed melting pot of the harbour city certainly shine through in the two originals and folamour remix on offer here.
its taken almost 3 years to get the man like medlar back on delusions following his 2015 release with dan shake but finally its come together. that release, along with his regular output for wolf, riverette and for discos only has helped cement medlars reputation as one of the leading uk underground house producers and led to official remixes and approved edits for legendary labels tk disco and west end no less! the medlar seal of quality has led to support from such influential heavyweight selectors as dj harvey, gilles peterson and dj koze. kicking things off we see medlar in straight up dance floor mode on title track nrg, coming through with a drum-heavy workout that utilises a gnarly bassline, echoing synth stabs and rasping hats to excellent effect. flip over for his own dub version which strips things back further placing all the emphasis on the bassline and going heavy on the space echo for a tripped out, dubby warehouse vibe tailor made for the freaky hours. closing the ep we have the aptly named tripped which drops the bpm’s for a low-slung mood-setter to warm up the floors with. a simple groove lays the foundation for a rolling bassline while chiming synths weave in and out of the spacious mix.
aroop roy has been making waves with his unique sounds for the past few years, with a wealth of successful releases and a busy gig schedule at the helm of some of the best clubs around the world. by fusing elements of jazz, afro, latin, funk and soul with the deeper end of house and disco, aroop has forged his own style with eps on revered labels including g.a.m.m, basic fingers, freestyle and lazy days. for his delusions of grandeur debut he pulled out all the stops, delivering three original tracks which further show his diversity as an artist and ability to produce left of centre, quality underground music without losing sight of the dancefloor. things kick off with save our love, a track that’s absolutely brimming with energy thanks to punchy wurlitzer chops, tension-building philly strings, and a rock-solid disco groove. next up we have what i love which sees aroop take an altogether more freaky approach flipping an uptempo rolling break, distorted synth line, cross-rhythm stabs and rasping vocal cuts into an edgy dance floor workout. closing this brilliant ep is the low-slung bump of walk that walk featuring original vocals from oakland, ca based blacktroniks who delivers his flow on top of a bass-heavy slice of deep electro boogie.
native new yorker son of sound aka henry maldonado returns to delusions of grandeur with another fine ep including two floor-friendly originals plus a stripped back remix from aroop roy. for those too young to have been buying records in the early 90’s henry was a key figure, involved in seminal releases on strictly rhythm as house 2 house, maxi records as deja vu and maw records as rhythm section. to say this guy has history is something of an understatement having made an important contribution to the first wave of deep house with productions dating right back to ’91. more recently he has created magic for jus ed’s underground quality, classic, razor n tape and local talk as well as establishing his own district30 imprint.
toby tobias joins delusions again for what will be his sixth(!) 12inch entitled the rain. the prolific londoner whose releases have graced such venerable labels as rekids, esp intistute and lets play house, is back with a vengeance, delivering two mighty fine originals plus a remix from nebraska. in true toby tobias style, the rain got made on an mpc, sliced and edited from a single live take through the desk then accidentally deleted so no further mixing, sequencing or editing could be carried out. but what is an a&r mans nightmare, turns out to be the record buying djs gain, as the improvised, dubby vibe and raw as mixdown give the track an authentic feel and energy which could only come from the madness in tobys method. fresh from his brilliant releases on mister saturday night and razor n tape, we have our man nebraska do his thing on the remix of the rain. dropping down the bpms a bit from tobys more frenetic original, nebraska adds a healthy dose of moogy lead lines to the lo-slung house groove, perfect for warming up the dancefloor.
this june session victim return to delusions of grandeur imprint with their third studio album.listen to your heartis the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in san francisco’s room g studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 lpsee you when you get there. here we present the first of three lp samplers containing four tracks each, cut nice and loud for the vinyl crew. bring it back gets things rolling with session victim’s trademark live drum breaks, looped up pads and hooky vocal samples. only good vibes here, with uplifting keys bringing a warm and soulful edge whilst shimmering juno notes add a floaty element to get lost in. next up we have if we can make it here, the title being something of an in-joke with the boys when they find themselves in the more remote or far-flung corners of the world performing their music to an appreciating crowd. the track is based around a simple yet beautiful 4-bar chord progression repeating throughout and shows svm in a playful and jazzy mood, managing to include soloing flute and marching snare drum rhythms without as much of a flinch!moons and flowers is up next, another sublime slice of hazy house music with a wonderful organic and live sound palette. echoing rhodes licks join dubby synth fx, adding waves of colour whilst the gentle vocal provides the icing on the space-cake. lastly we have the hatch, which winds things down somewhat for a lovely, somewhat stoned interlude track which is over all too soon. an impeccable demonstration of retro-inspired yet forward thinking house, listen to your heartsees session victim at the top of their game.
TURN IT OUT / BOOGIE DOWN (DAVE AJU & LAURENCE GUY RMXS)
12" Vinyl UK03.05.16
having unleashed the beast that is his debut lp columbusing, thatmanmonkz grants a couple more heavyweight producers permission to get busy with the sonic manglers for remixes of turn it out and boogie down. first up, one of the vocalist contributors to the lp dave aju (known for his releases on circus company) takes on his own track turn it out, transforming the original from a backyard bbq summer jam into some kind of mutant electro p-funk meets broken- beat fusion. a filtered bass line and bare bones 808 kicks are what this track is all about forming the perfect rhythmic union with the vocal.
for our 50th release on delusions of grandeur were pleased to bring you seven exclusive tracks from a mighty-fine collection of both existing dog artists and veritable newcomers alike. part two opens with underground quality key player son of sound who brings a bucketful of attitude on under the son, laying down a rough-edged groove and getting on one with his vintage keys.
following two ep releases on delusions of grandeur the time felt right for thatmanmonkz to get working on his debut lp. the sheffield b-boy is no newcomer to production having been releasing music since the mid-noughties but has seen a definite rise in interest the last few years following essential releases on his own shadeleaf label as well as remixes and productions for the likes of classic, kolour ltd and kon’s startime.
JUS ANOTHA WUNNA DEEZ / TAKE U 2 MY HOUSE (JIMPSTER / GE-OLOGY RMXS)
12" Vinyl UK04.02.16
as we await the release of the debut lp columbusing from thatmanmonkz we’re pleased to give you a little taster of two of the originals plus a couple of brilliant remixes from man of the moment ge-ology and jimpster. thatmanmonkz has seen a definite rise in interest the last few years following essential releases on his own shadeleaf label as well as remixes and productions for the likes of classic, kolour ltd and kon’s startime.
toby tobias has been responsible for some fine quality music over the past 10 years with labels such as rekids, nang, let’s play house and quintessentials all dropping his unique brand of raw, analogue house and techno. a dj’s dj who always seems to pull out a lesser known gem and make it sound like a classic, toby knows his music as well as his studio, inside out.<br /the 2x12 inch lp includes a cd-copy of the full album.>
time to welcome soul 223 to the label with his debut delusions ep entitled fear of stopping. something of a complete legend in our eyes and ears, steve pickton has been releasing top drawer tuneage for over two decades both as stasis on influential labels such as b12 and peacefrog and more recently as soul 223 on equally well regarded imprints like delsin, soul jazz and neroli.
finally we have d.o.g regular tornado wallace onboard to provide a remix which takes the original into far deeper territory. tw drops the bpms, adds an arpeggiating marimba line and builds up the synths resulting in a late night vibe which compliments the vocal perfectly.
tornado wallace has made a rather rapid climb up the hype list since his debut release here on delusions of grandeur in 2010 and deservedly so. definitely one to push quality as opposed to quantity, the melborne wunderkind has chosen to focus on just a select few remixes and releases which has stood him in very good stead and created demand as a dj and producer with genuine integrity as well as talent. in addition to his two eps on d.o.g he also released an ep for instruments of rapture as well as making remixes for home taping is killing music, kolour ltd and future classic. he is also responsible for one of ras best and most popular podcasts this year
scottish producer austin ato has been making waves the last couple of years having had well received releases on futureboogie and phonica white and this year looks to be his best yet! remixes for folamour on classic, balako on greco roman and an ep for man power s label me me me will be dropping in the coming weeks, paving the way for his delusions of grandeur debut double a side ella / putting it in my way.
time for a cheeky, under the radar one from new delusions signing flight mode. one track either side for extra-loud full-fatness. two variations on a theme, taking us on a deep, dubby, disco tip. a crisp, rolling groove and echoing stabs swirling around one of the best bass lines ever produced. global communications getting stoned with dj pierre on the a side. carl craig and moroder hanging out in the kitchen of the after party on the flip side. play loud, live long and prosper!
adesse versions has been dropping some choice originals and edits on a host of renowned and respected labels for the last four years and we’re proud to add him to the esteemed list of artists to release on delusions of grandeur. from early white labels on make love in public spaces and his own adesse versions label through to his recent outings on heist, numbers, razor n tape, let’s play house and local talk, he continuous to impress with his raw, sample-heavy production which brings pure energy to the dance floor. for his pulp fusion ep, adesse presents three diverse and brilliant cuts, all showing off his deft touch in the studio and providing what we feel is his strongest work to date. pulp fusion leads the a side with cutting clavinets doubling up the syncopated bassline, a super-charged romp where disco meets filtered house resulting in a track with widespread appeal despite its raw and underground approach. the a2 entitled fade out drops the bpm’s for a string-drenched, philly soul jam, heavy on percussion but with a gentle lilt and balearic vibe that makes it perfect for the wind down. last but definitely not your average b side filler we have the mighty raw in its live edit incarnation. militantly minimal in sonic palate, this jacked up house track simply rocks the spot thanks to adesses ballsy arrangement, production prowess and nasty bassline, rounding off this ep with a punch
this june session victim returned to delusions of grandeur imprint with their third studio album. listen to your heart is the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in san francisco’s room g studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 lp see you when you get there. here we present the third of three lp samplers containing four tracks each, cut nice and loud for the vinyl crew.
we kick things off with almost midnight, another uplifting summer jam loaded with trademark session victim energy and positive vibrations. next up we have castle for sale which drops the bpm’s for a dub influenced, spaced out jam session sounding like king tubby and nightmares on wax getting stuck in the proverbial lift with a large bong for company.
flipping over we have a head over heels, which goes heavy on the lush orchestral strings and a brilliant bouncing moog bassline bringing a deft touch. finally we’re treated to thermal explorer, which incorporates some wonderful larry heard-esque keyboards for a perfect wind-down track to close the release.
an impeccable demonstration of retro-inspired yet forward thinking house and downtempo music, listen to your heart sees session victim at the top of their game.
this june session victim return to delusions of grandeur imprint with their third studio album. listen to your heart is the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in san francisco’s room g studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 lp see you when you get there. here we present the second of three lp samplers containing four tracks each, cut nice and loud for the vinyl crew. shadows gets things rolling with a classic session victim housey groove, looped up pads and hooky spoken vocal samples. filtered string stabs bring a warm and soulful edge whilst dub delay touches add a floaty element to get lost in. next up we have unchained which drops the bpm’s for a widescreen, slo-mo jam clouded in a smokey haze with jazzy touches, recalling the halcyon days of pork recordings. flipping over we have a brand new lp version of previous single up to rise, another sublime slice of blissed-out house music with a wonderful organic and live sound palette. echoing rhodes licks join the lead guitar tune for a balearic beauty which will be stuck in your head long after the sun sets. closing this second sampler we have over and over, which winds things down somewhat for an inspired, bass-led roller. an impeccable demonstration of retro-inspired yet forward thinking house and downtempo music, listen to your heart sees session victim at the top of their game.
this june session victim return to jimpster s delusions of grandeur imprint with a third studio album. listen to your heart is the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in san francisco s room g studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 lp see you when you get there . sampling still remains an ever present backbone throughout the album. session victim have dug deep for sounds, resulting in a richly detailed and organic sound collage that goes hand-in-hand with their live instrumentation, this time enhanced through several guest musician appearances, most notably carsten -erobique- meyer (ex-international pony). smooth guitar samples are built up on over and over while on moons & flowers the live instrumentals that session victim do so well come to the fore.
for our 57th release we’re stoked to be bringing you some heavy new biz from the one and only ron basejam. this man is responsible for some of the classiest disco-influenced house music dating back to ’05 when his anthemic for the people blew our minds and soundtracked many an after-party so perfectly. recent ep’s on eskimo, wolf music, futureboogie and top notch remixes for the likes of people must jam, brownswood and classic have all delivered in spades. here on the sound of a feeling ep we have three brilliant raw, stripped and chopped analogue jams plus the first ever remix from tee mango who comes hot off his stunning debut lp imperfections on millionhands.
new years deal - after his heroic release like you mean it ep uffe returns under a new name - u dee, where he looks to explore a more stripped back, lo fi, floor focussed sound. a uffe has seen great success in the last year with release on pets as well as the release of his second lp no! on max graef s infamous tartlet label, which has seen amazing support form the likes of ra, xlr8r and dj mag. here on love is gone ep we re treated to 5 tracks of lo-fi, minimal dj tools full of character and a quirkiness that come like a breath of fresh air
as our favourite victims head off to san francisco and their stateside studio of choice known as room g to put the finishing touches to their third lp, we have a beautiful little taster of what to expect in the form of the matching half ep.
ben sun returns to delusions for his 4th release on the label including three more tracks which show the australian via london on his best form yet. full moon kicks off the tides ep at full throttle with a muscular conga-led disco house roller. slurping 909 hats and the most twisted of synth solos courtesy of regular collaborator fantastic man (and his beloved juno 60) provide the icing on this simple bass-cake which never fails to energize the dancefloor in the most special of ways. star ritual drops next, going heavy on the percussion once again for a minimal stripped back drum tool which packs a mighty punch. dubbed out vocal hits punctuate the beautifully loose groove with subtle hints of afrobeat implied by the bassline making for a warm summer track dripping with tropical vibes. finally we have glass waves bringing the ep to a glorious close, all chiming synths, bouncing moog bass and waves of chords layering on top of a heavy drum track. ben repping an early 90’s blissed out nu groove mood on this one and managing to sound as fresh as ever in the process
ltd 2016 repress - delusions of grandeur have had an exceptional couple of years since their inception in 2009 with fourteen vinyl 12s from a host of producers helping to put them at the top of the pile of underground labels making house music for discerning ears. it was only a matter of time before the label took the logical next-step into artist albums and here they are with the debut lp from 6th borough project entitled one night in the borough. its more than likely that youve come across 6th borough releases or edits on labels such as instruments of rapture, jisco or permanent vacation as well as having kick started the whole thing off here at delusions of grandeur with their release the soul part ii (under the aka craig smith & the revenge). its also more than likely youve been in some late night establishment whilst the revenge provided musical accompaniment on his record players seeing as he is one of the most in demand djs playing underground house and disco on the scene right now.
son of sound aka henry maldonado has been producing influential house music dating back right back to 1991. he has released on strictly rhythm as house 2 house, maxi records as deja vu and maw records as rhythm section. son of sound has recently appeared on tirk and local talk before dropping the bomb that is jewel eye nights on jus ed s underground quality. he also has releases scheduled for later in the year on razor n tape and city fly. currently working on a collaboration ep with recloose for his own district 30 label. henry is also host of the highly regarded hit it and quit it radio show on the lot and east village radio with recloose and private panther.
for our 50th release on delusions of grandeur we’re pleased to bring you seven exclusive tracks from a mighty-fine collection of both existing dog artists and veritable newcomers alike. kicking off part one we have rush hour regular nebraska who manages to successfully combine elements of wait for it... trance and broken beat into an altogether more exciting and amazing way than that actually sounds on paper. organic, sampled drums with plenty of grit and dirt lay down a groove whilst spacey synth arps and an almighty break (in a subtle way) make this something of an epic which all of us here have fallen for in a big way.
ltd 2016 repress.. session victim can do no wrong in our eyes. not only do they run an absolutely brilliant vinyl-only label known as retreatwith the help of fellow berliner quarion. not only do they play an amazing live set which has seen recent fans at londons corsica studios get so worked up they started crowd-surfing. not only were they responsible for last years underground hit good intentions which is so good it had move d in tears as he closed a festival set with it last summer. on top of all this they are the nicest and most focused couple of chaps you ever did meet. in short, we are very proud and happy to be pres their debut lp the haunted house of house on our humble label
LOVE AFFAIR / SLO FLAVA (I:CUBE & SESSION VICTIM REMIXES)
12" Vinyl UK02.12.15
new years deal - following hot on the heels of tobys brilliant long player rising son we bring you a couple of our favorite tracks remixed by two of our favorite producers, namely i:cube and session victim. the versatile veteran nicolas chaix kicks things off in his own unique style on his interpretation of love affair with widescreen pads and subterranean clanks and growls setting things up for a heady house journey. session victim do their thing on slo flava, jacking up the tempo and turning in a bouncing live jam with a soulful edge. completing this ep we also have the two original versions of love affair and slo flava in all their glory.
new years deal - with toby tobias debut lp for delusions of grandeur dropping on the 16th october we wanted to give you a little taste of what to expect with a couple of tracks plus a brilliant remix from dog regular franc spangler. kicking things off we have the twisted machine funk of the wonder featuring vocals from atwell. 808 beats bringing the vintage electro vibes whilst atwell’s vocal hints at the golden era of chicago house, adding a soulful touch to the rigid groove. next up is only getting better, diving into deeper waters with bubbling pads and pulsing bass line. finally, we have franc spangler getting busy on the remix, turning in a floor focused jam which brings the vocal to the fore and a big beefy bassline to bounce to.
repress 2015 - those notorious victims of session return to what we like to think of as their spiritual home, if not their physical one, with the brilliant glow in the dark ep, and if you thought solomun and his neon nights were the only day-glow players in town its time to think again as the sv boys slap on the luminous paint and head straight to the dancefloor.
it’s not often that a breakthrough producer manages to cause major hype after just one release but when that artist is from the uk, putting out a brilliant ep on moodymann’s mahogani music, you start to realize how it happened in dan shake’s case. now its time for dan to build on this incredible start and from the way things are looking it’s safe to say it’s all going in the right direction. another rising star from the uk is wolf music regular medlar who has been making serious waves the last 5 years. remixes for the likes of glenn astro and disclosure have all helped put him in the spotlight and his debut lp sleep from 2013 delivered in spades. so when the news that these two were joining forces for a collaborative project reached us here at d.o.g we wanted in on the action.
its toby tobias time folks! ahead of his brilliant lp which will be dropping here on dog in september we give you a little reminder of why he’s one of the heroes of the underground uk house scene. toby has been honing his skills as a producer, dj, promoter and all round nice guy for years now and we’re very happy to be offering up fresh new club business from the man himself in the form of the rising ep. never one to go for the obvious, he always puts his neck on the line and pushes his productions in an interesting and often unexpected direction, making full use of his fully analogue studio to get those ‘happy accidents’ into his tracks which gives him the edge over so many others on the scene today.
ben sun returns for his third delusions of grandeur release with this solid slice of raw, old school house entitled tricks on wax. the london-based producer has been on fine form recently, slowly but surely becoming a name to watch and joining the pool of amazing talent coming out of australia at the moment. as the boss man of the vinyl-only label voyeurhythm ben has had a string of underground gems but isn’t adverse to spreading his wings and knocking out originals and remixes for the likes of quintessentials and royal oak
2015 looks like it could be the year that the danes make underground dance their own. the long running tartelet label changed direction last year and found a winning formula releasing the incredible max graef lp.
nebraska is someone who’s tracks we’ve been loving for a good few years now and finally managed to pin him down for a release here on delusions of grandeur. the uk producer is something of an enigma, and despite some amazing releases on rush hour still remains resolutely underground and seems to keep his releases to a minimum, focusing on keeping the quality high rather than flooding the market with average material. once again, he brings the real deal with three drum-heavy warehouse jams to nice-up the dancefloor. aw-right (mute version) sets the tone with a raw house groove that keeps things stripped to the bare minimum. a bouncing bassline and rattling percussion break help to define the track but it’s the dusty, dubby approach to the mix which really makes the track shine. next up we have warp and weft, a similar sounding track but by dropping the bpm’s nebraska has created a sublime low-slung, bumpy groove to really move to. flipping over we’re treated to the brilliant eighty eights which will have you nodding your head like the churchill’s dog before you can say ‘looped up piano and bass one bar groove repeated for over eight and a half minutes shouldn’t work should it?’
session victim love what they do. the pure joy they get from writing, producing and performing their unique blend of underground dance music oozes from their very pores, translating into pure good vibes for anyone witnessing the duo in action. as a label, we couldn’t be more proud to see their growth and development from a couple of self confessed semi-reclusive studio geeks into the globe-trotting djs and headlining live-act they have now become. with their second lp for delusions of grandeur about to drop it is easy to hear their constant drive to push themselves emanating from their new material.
session victim love what they do. the pure joy they get from writing, producing and performing their unique blend of underground dance music oozes from their very pores, translating into pure good vibes for anyone witnessing the duo in action

time to welcome more new, undiscovered talent to the fold, this time we give you sheffield producer thatmanmonkz with an amazing ep entitled please dont slip, trip or fall off. thatmanmonkz came to our attention last year when his track that would be alright appeared on tone control music. the low slung, bluesy inflections combined with moodymann-esqe vocals and deep pads had us instantly hooked so when he presented us with three brand new tracks for delusions of grandeur we literally bit his hand off.
finally, were treated to the epic closer that is camberwell beauty. mid tempo boogie beats with crunchy claps and steady hats lay the bedrock for a loping cs5 bassline whilst lush keys shimmer and swirl like little fluffy clouds in a bright summers sky.
6th borough project are all set to release the follow up to their 2011 debut lp one night in the borough at the start of march. a hectic couple of years have been lived out by graeme clark and craig smith during the making of their borough 2 borough lp with graeme continuing to play week in and week out as revenge and setting up his new imprint roar groove whilst craig has established the brilliant fifty fathoms deep label. studio time has been tight to say the least but that hasnt stopped the duo from pulling out all the stops and ensuring that this lp surpasses the already sky-high benchmark set by its predecessor
you just love you heavies up the vibe with a stomping slice of expertly crafted filter disco. a tried and tested formula of course, but in the hands of a master like recloose, the result is a fresh, floor filling anthem chock full of peaktime energy.
toby tobias joins the d.o.g crew for release no. 29 and fits like the proverbial glove with an incredible ep which truly lives up to its name.its probably fair to say that toby is one of the unsung heroes of the uk scene having played a pivotal part in developing the underground disco scene of the late noughties. his late night audio parties alongside releases on rekids, lets play house, nang and quintessentials speak volumes as to the mans skills and fastidious nature and here he delivers what wed be so bold as to say his best work yet with the pathfinder ep.
6th borough project make a welcome return to d.o.g following last years mighty debut lp one night in the borough. craig smith and graeme ?revenge clark have been steadily gaining a rock-solid reputation for both their quality productions as well as their dj sets, taking them everywhere from the legendary subclub.
time to welcome ben sun to d.o.g with his incredible love momentum ep containing three tracks of the raw stuff to groove to. some may know ben sun from his previous releases on the brilliant voyeurhythm label, his own vinyl-only imprint distributed by clone which was established in 2009. others might have his remixes of reggie dokes on royal oak or deep space orchestra on boogie originals. whatever, this man is making serious waves right now and adds yet another feather in the collective cap of young antipodean producers making underground house music with their own unique and authentic approach.
here we have the third and final installment of session victims haunted house of house lp sampler. soul clap declared it beautifully diverse - best dog in ages! dop, james teej, catz n dogz and tornado wallace said superb, inspiring, fantastic and bloody ripping respectively. enjoy part three, full of deep, sample-heavy house and leftfield beats
part one of session victims haunted house of house sampler is already going down an absolute storm with the likes of dop, james teej, catz n dogz and tornado wallace declaring it >superb<, >inspiring<, >fantastic<, and bloody ripping, respectively. nows the time for part two containing four more cuts of the good stuff and by now you know what we are talking about here, deep, sample-heavy, rough around the edges but smooth in all the right places. basically good oldfashioned instrumental moods and grooves which will appeal equally to those old enough to remember the golden era of pork recordings as it will to the hip young vinyl heads with a nose for anything disco. enjoy, support and keep them peeled for the final installment part three coming very soon
the haunted house of house part one containing four tracks of deep, warm, raw house music that leans heavily on a cut and paste sample ethic but crafted with such an attention to detail that the end result is musical, cinematic in places and just too damn funky! haunted house dives straight in with an uptempo jam with a heavy disco groove and compressed pads laced with subtle arpeggiating acid lines. next up is the more laid back yet still seriously head-nodding vibe of alpine glow on which the sv boys even manage to make a cut-up mark king-esque slap bass sample sound good! flip over for dark sienna, nudging things back into looped up deep-disco territory with a lovely mid-tempo rolling groove driven along by open hats and a square wave bassline. and finally we have the spellbinding flying visit to leave us on a total high. coming on like some long-lost nightmares on wax classic, we are treated to a gentle balearic beauty which should leave you in no doubt that you are in capable hands with session victim at the helm, and hopefully eager for your next fix on the soon come haunted house of house part two.
bit of a special release we have here with a new collaborative project from belgian duo fcl joining the omnipresent danilo of motor city drum ensemble for some seriously raw, stripped back and undiluted house music. most people will know san soda and red ds fcl project following the brilliant lets go seven release on their we play house label last year as well as their remix of proof for trunkfunk. mcde has become one of the biggest and most revered names in house in recent years having produced the amazing raw cuts series as well as compiling the dj kicks lp which spawned the mcde single l.o.v.e.
manuel tur returns to delusions following his recent classic most of this moment on freerange and proceeds to throw another whacking great curveball for those who have think theyve got his game sussed. its quite safe to say the last year or so manuel has continued to push and redifne himself as a producer, refusing to stick to one sound or repeat himself which has resulted in some amazing releases aswell as some fruitful collaborations. recent remixes for permanent vacation, diynamic and dixons philomena label all display his deeper, left-of-centre and more techno-edged sound. here on delusions we have the (bi) polar opposite in the form of the foolin ep. the title track is a beautiful slice of soul-drenched house which goes for a classic sound with simple horn chords, rolling bass and incessant claps spicing up the groove. a simple vocal refrain is spun in like a dj drops an accapella and once heard this will be stuck in your head for days. a firm fireside favourite with all of us here at dog. theres also an instrumental version of foolin for those with vocalitis. flipping over we have the traveller which sees manuel head down slightly more familiar territory with a heavy, lo-slung groove providing the backdrop for some axelrod-style strings and horns, live bass and floating vocal adlibs. a subtley haunting soundtrack feel pervedes as the arrangement developes but the relentless driving beats make sure this track never strays far from the dancefloor.
pattern select aka milton jackson and show-b have gone well and truly back to the raw on this, their first collaborative work together and debut ep for delusions of grandeur. both producers have been busy on some top quality projects just recently with milton jackson remixing recloose for planet e and show b producing for robert owens on compost. the pair met at a party in munich, promptly fell in love, and soon enough pattern select was born. kicking off tale of the tape sees the pair go deep n dark on this low-slung groove where demonic laughter rides the driving hats and insesant crashes until the filtering arpeggiated synth line joins the fun. tale of the dub gives us a stripped back, dub-infused version which goes a little lighter on the craziness of the first version but without losing any of the deep, hypnotic funk.
deep space orchestra have been carving out a very nice name for themselves over the past year, and alongside the likes of cottam and krl itʼ,,,s safe to say that they are helping to establish an exciting new movement of raw, detroit-inspired house. the diy approach is very much a part of their ethic, as is the underground feel and aesthetic which imbues their own use of weapons label as well as their recent releases on similarly minded vinyl-orientated labels such as foto and kirk degiorgioʼ,,,s legendary art. the release we have here is perhaps their most refined music yet, showing a development in their production level on two tracks which are brimming with a warmth and fatness whilst retaining that critical raw edge which only a handful of the most exacting producers seem capable of. lo pan builds around a fat, bouncing bass line and a brilliantly lilting groove created by straight 808 hats and shuffling shakers. the feel keeps shifting throughout the song, sometimes superswung, sometimes straight and driving, all the while simple detroit strings build and analogue arps are layered up building the tension in the arrangemen

zepp001 returns to delusions for our first release of 2011 and what a way to start the new year! the seattle based disco obsessive has been holed up in his recently completed studio in delphia (a city located on antarcticas southern shore) and its easy to hear the influence this strange and otherworldly place has had on the two original tracks here on this release
tornado wallace has had a great 12 months following his debut release paddlin on delusions put him firmly on the map of heavyweight young producers to watch. subsequent remixes for home taping is killing music, future classic and detroit label kolour have pushed him further to the forefront of deep and dubby slomo house scene. always twirling spins into action with driving 16th note hats, compressed pads and soaring strings. 808 snare fills rattle throughout and a warm, dubby bassline provides the speaker-troubling low end. twirl and the beanstalk goes for a more heads down, bare beats and bass approach resulting in an intense, floor friendly track that grooves extra hard. finally, we have whispering twirl, a sumptuous slice of midtempo deepness with a hint of boogie and a dash of soul

the oh so secretive and elusive franc spangler provides his first full ep for delusions of grandeur having previously provided mixes for alpha child on dog03 as well as for jimpster on freerange. on our 11th release we are very happy to offer up two variations on forever and a day with the original providing a full length arrangement loaded with deep pads, fizzing synth lines and franc?s trademark disco inspired drums. forever and a dub runs with a similar vibe whilst opting for a more stripped back and rolling vibe. still a very deep and musical track but with some space for the drums and squarewave bassline to work their magic. the arrangement subtly builds with layering synths providing the dynamics and interest. flip over for open eyes which sees franc drop the bpm?s for a loping, looping, sun-soaked epic purpose built for vibe augmentation of your next bbq gig
tornado wallace is the alter ego of a certain mr lewie day, hailing from melbourne and having recently started making great waves following excellent releases on murmur, 8bit and herzlich. tornado wallace pushes down the deeper, detroit-inspired route which is why he approached us here at delusions with these very special tracks.
manuel tur has been making some great music recently, whether it be as one half of the ribn project with partner langenberg, on numerous remixes alongside dplay or solo on a variety of labels such as mild pitch, pokerflat, freerange, mule music, drumpoet and now delusions of grandeur. fianchetto opts for a dark, spaced-out and deeply hypnotic vibe full of warm, subby disco beats, shimmering rhodes and echoing horns. a masterful production from manuel that is loaded with atmosphere and sounds mighty on a big system. next up we have beasts and the birds which goes for a heavy looped up disco approach full of raw detroit sensibilities and attitude. finally, tim toh (much respected and sickeningly young german producer releasing on soulphiction’s philpot label) stretches out beasts and the birds into a 9 minute journey into abstract dance. once again, we’re talking unrefined, no compromise house music here, the likes of which you won’t be hearing on an mos compilation anytime soon
having become a firm favourite of some of the best djs on the planet, delusions makes a welcome return with dog05 from the mighty 6th borough project. these guys can seemingly do no wrong at the moment putting out huge release after huge release on their instruments of rapture label as well as numerous remixes, edits and original productions on the likes of jisco music, phonica, deep freeze and delusions. how can i show you is a masterclass in slo-mo looped up deep disco house that will appeal to fans of mark e and of course the revenge. a hypnotic and grinding groove is what this little number is all about so play it loud and keep it slow. on the flip side we have soultourist (from our fave house label drumpoet) remixing miss world into a deep and driving filtered throbber with all the warmth and soul youd expect from these swiss master craftsmen. on aa2 youll find the ooft! remix of miss world going in a slightly darker, electronic direction introducing dubbed out synth stabs and a subsonic bottom end thatll warm your cockles
tuccillo joins delusions of grandeur for their forth release turning in two tracks of funk injected house that will work wonders on the dancefloor. hot from his releases with willie graff on freerange, circus company, drumpoet and liebe*detail, the ibizan producer delivers once again with a release that will put him firmly on the hype list for 2009. panorama is one of those tracks that will be played by djs right across the board and creates a killer vibe whether its at its original tempo of 118 or pitched right up for peak time action. the rolling beats, looped up guitar hit and siren synths create a mighty track that treads a familiar path but does so in such style that we challenge you not to get bitten by the bug. taken things in an altogether deeper, darker and more twisted direction with have switzerlands finest kalabrese taking care of the remix. his very capable hands and ears, not to mention vocal skills, have resulted in a warped, acidified excursion full of bottom end pressure and brilliant percussion. a real trip this one. finally, on the flip, we have tuccillos this time, taking things back into house territory with a funk filled workout that utilizes a pitched down vocal and horn stabs to great effect. that doesnt sound great on paper we know, but give it a listen cos it works a treat.
delusions hits the spot once again with number 3, this time highlighting the production skills of a certain zepp001. the seattle based disco obsessive has been leaking out high class edits over the years under a dizzying array of deliberately forgettable pseudonyms but feels the time is right to push his original tracks. who better then to make these beauties available for you discerning djs than delusions of grandeur. dont sleep is a dark, brooding groover with throbbing bass, cute cuica fills and intense strings that lalo schifrin would be proud of. a real heavy mood setter and as good an introduction to the sound of zepp001 as you re likely to need. next up we have the mighty revenge in for remix duties on dont sleep. the much hyped master of the edit keeps the vibe of the original well and truly in place but opts for an even more stripped back approach leaving all the space for crisp claps, slowly building strings and bowel wobbling bass. flip over for giraffe, a more upbeat affair where the filtered keys come to the fore and things steer in a hyped up deep house direction. show your luv...
the enclave of both established artists and fresh undiscovered talent whose shared passion of deep underground detroit influenced house and disco are reflected in the quality output you will come to expect from the label. franc spangler, the revenge, zepp001, john daly, alpha child, 6th borough project, tuccifunk and pezzner are just some of the producers creating their work with tender loving care for delusions. dog01 will be setting the standard with the soul part ii from craig smith & the revenge. these boys are currently riding a wave of successful releases, mainly in the form of their disco and boogie edits under their 6th borough project guise on instruments of rapture. here we see them move into original production territory with a bass heavy slice of brooding and grooving floor friendly house but with their own unique twist. tempos are kept low, drums are kept live sounding and the subtle italo synth lines all ensure this track keeps true to their roots in disco. for their 6th borough project dub they dive head first into a slowly building, drum and percussion heavy workout which has a beautiful tension to it. this is music for small basements with big sound systems. finally we have john dalys beautiful interpretation where he opts for a blissed out, understated and hypnotic sound that wraps you up in layers of warm, echoing synths whilst the groove chugs along masterfully. a true mood setter or after hours classic

following two ep releases on delusions of grandeur the time felt right for thatmanmonkz to get working on his debut lp. the sheffield b-boy is no newcomer to production having been releasing music since the mid-noughties but has seen a definite rise in interest the last few years following essential releases on his own shadeleaf label as well as remixes and productions for the likes of classic, kolour ltd and kons startime. with his first musical love being hip hop its easy to understand how his approach to house turns out so refreshing.

the vibes pushes further still in a darker, more abstract and clubby mood. finally, we wind down with walk away, making the perfect close for a brilliant, fresh and original lp from a highly talented couple of producers whose passion and knowledge of music shines brightly here. difficult second lp clearly not an issue with 6th borough project!
session victim can do no wrong in our eyes. not only do they run an absolutely brilliant vinyl-only label known as retreat with the help of fellow berliner quarion. not only do they play an amazing live set which has seen recent fans at londons corsica studios get so worked up they started crowd-surfing. not only were they responsible for last years underground hit good intentions which is so good it had move d in tears as he closed a festival set with it last summer. on top of all this they are the nicest and most focused couple of chaps you ever did meet. in short, we are very proud and happy to be presenting their debut lp / cd the haunted house of house on our humble label.
