dennis ayler was first introduced to us via 22a earlier this year. he now returns on his own imprint dennis ayler music. his debut ep no comment gives the listener a chance to step into dennis aylers world, where drum machines play cards with electric guitars and lead synths do private strips for kicks.

following the success of their 4th album malamore released in april this year, french duo the limiñanas have now trusted london star dj, producer and friend andrew weatherall to remix the flagship single garden of love (feat. peter hook). the collaboration has resulted in two unique remixes. when we released je ne suis pas tres drogue in 2009, andrew played it in his radio show in london. then bernie fabre contacted me because andrew wanted us to play in his festival de la city a la cité in carcassone. thats how we met. when we worked with peter hook, the idea of a maxi with one or two remixes made sense. so we did this record with the original edit of garden of love and two remix edits by andrew weatherall. - lionel liminana

bergen�s christian tilt returns to norwegian label ploink with his debut album �alt skjedde jæla fort� this september. norwegian christian tilt�s dedication to techno over the last two decades has securely placed him in high ranks to play alongside the likes of the zenker brothers, margaret dygas and ploink label head thomas urv at clubs such as berghain, jaeger and Østre - all in the last year. here though we see christian tilt make a return to ploink for a second time with a five track lp comprised of an intricate cross-section of syncopated rhythms and dubbed-out techno. �dos were the days� slowly builds hi-hats and punchy kick drums, before a deep-synth melody drives the composition forward. up next is the stripped back �btl� that combines otherworldly aesthetics with a steady bass rattle throughout, before the gritty �a visit from france� unleashes a dark low-end, murky synth drones and frantic pad sequences. a relentless 9 minute affair titled �i only work late nights� then swells and pulsates over an unremitting beat, before �Øreverk� rounds off the package with frenzied clangs, muted hits and rhythmic percussion.

played by ricardo villalobos -- bass culture welcomes another industry heavyweight to its roster of talent with this new release, which follows hot on the heels of the killer 50th release by mr. g. this latest release comes from long time friend of bass culture owner d julz and dutch techno hero steve rachmad. steve is renowned for his funky take on techno, honing his skills as a dj and producer over 25 years and establishing himself as a respected and hugely talented artist in the process. the first of two tracks on this new ep is entitled * sabre song* - a stomping, illuminating cut straight out of the rachmad school of detroit-influenced techno. d julz heard steve play the track at womb in tokyo and had to sign it on the spot. *sabre song* is a perfect fit for bass culture with its groovy bassline, cutting hats and * big band* instrumentation. on the flip d julz himself contributes an edit of one of steves nineties classic, a favourite of his and one which both men agreed should be given a release. pumping out at a speedy tempo, the force is strong with * activa*, transporting us back to the rave era with its catchy melody, and retro physique. summer vibes all the way with this one.

philippe quenum returns to cadenza music with �solitaire�, some thirteen years after helping kick start the swiss label with the 2003 release �orange mistake�/ funky dandy�. this groundbreaking single, co-produced with luciano, has since become a landmark release, not just for the label, but also as the benchmark for the micro-house and minimal tech-house genre that developed over the decade. with a music career than spans back to the mid-80s (dancing in nyc as part of the breakdance troupe, the magnificent force), quenum found his forte with house music, both as a dj, and as a producer and label owner. setting up the access 58 label in 1998 as a platform for his music and collaborations, quenum has consistently released over the years for labels like crosstown rebels, soma, alphahouse, thema and trapez ltd. �solitaire� finds quenum on fine form, on the lead track, dubby fx and bass shaking shots roll out over an urgent disco beat, muted brass and technoid stabs fire from all directions as the tension building pads flourish. shadowy forces are at play on �mystic�, discordant sounds echo and bellow over reverberating percussion and a dense back beat that fire into life with shuffling hi-hats. wrapping up this welcome return to the label is �mystery�, whipping snares and industrial clangs rumble over the urgent drums for more hypnotizing dancefloor work from philippe!

catalogue number pp018 has been work in progress for quite a while now. wind-s originally appeared in a slightly different version as part of the soundtrack to one of rohtheaters plays. the track features all the typical obalski elements we have grown so fond of in the past. dreamy pads and odd melodies create the sort of ambient that carries you away somewhere else (bravo!). we decided that it would be interesting to hear other artists take their turn on the material. the japanese duo mascaras (chida & 5ive) transformed wind-s in an atmospheric drum workout. fantastically incorporating the breezy synth elements of the original into their flow of percussion. press play lift off. the b-side gives space to nick höppners epic techno groove. ecstasy evolving progress.

what ever not is the variegated music outlet from experienced dodi palese and dan mela, italian djs and producers supporting, selling, playing and releasing instrumental and dance music for two decades. what ever not tenth record, �galegos bar / the ritual�, sees a split release signed by dan mela and marco erroi. label co-founder dan mela inaugurates a new moniker �man dela� for �the ritual� - the original track gets remixed by anton zap, with whom mela already collaborated for a digital release on his own ethereal sound. flipping on the other side, marco erroi, head of common series ltd, continues his production career with �xxxv gold fingers� for the �galegos bar� side � one of the many different aliases he personifies - also contributing by realizing the artwork. �galegos bar / the ritual� offers two sides of the same coin and we can have both things with one stroke. the common denominator is the ethnical ritual. it is fully expressed in the man dela side with deep and hypnotic ride out turned upside down by anton zap with a dynamic electronic waltz. the same item, however, is magically hidden in the xxxv gold fingers side, where we can find it in the form of drink beer and play cards just like in most terrible bars in south of italy.

cocoon recordings presents a freaked out deep techno highlight by two masters of their craft: gregor tresher & petar dundov! especially the a-side spike is a crazy monster and we do not exaggerate by writing that we have never heard something like this by these two masterminds before. mental, hypnotic and with a neverending synth firework that modulates with an endless release effect. the two really pushed electronic dance music at least ten steps further. tresher & dundov second mutual work on cocoon recordings follows with differentiator. the two stick to the basic concept of spike however this time it is the good old arpeggio that keeps on modulating until eternity. differentiator almost flows with a little trance appeal and there is even a cool and driving acid bassline giving us the final push. tresher & dundov present us two massive techno tunes that will definitely play in their own league this season!

timmy ps latest outing on dessous recordings continues the long list of illustrious labels that have been home to his house vision. now based in london, timmy has a string of emphatic releases under his belt, not least on influential imprints such as local talk, extended play, dirt crew and madtech. with safety first, timmys playful approach to the deeper side of house shines though. the title track mixes crisp, crunchy drums with warm, soft pads and a bubbling bass line - a deep rolling cut with plenty of punch for the floor. the fantastically named grim fandango is a little tougher, with the snares and claps snapping tightly over a taut, un-resistible vibe. timmys balance of dynamics is masterful, each element perfectly complimenting each other to create a tour de force over 8 minutes. bosh is similarly crafted - the original echoing classic 90s house but feeling completely fresh for 2016, while james dexters remix is a robust, deep roller. this is house music made with joy and passion.
