the eraly years of a decade are good times for exploration, just like in 1993 when we (alex & sasa) first started working together. we rented a huge loft space on ave b & 2nd st. in the east village in manhattan. the winter was tough, we had 16 snow storms and due to a landlord who hated everybody, we had our heating turned off except for a few hours in the morning, sometimes not even that... the only way to stay warm was to wear hats, gloves and scarves the whole winter... but that was fine because nightlife was a lot of fun. there was a good club/party every night. right below where we lived was one of the best after hour clubs called >save the robots<. but one of my favourite parties was >sugar babes< which was at the cbgbs gallery space right next door to cbgbs, every monday night. the dj used to sample parts of the records he was mixing and then just play the loop of the sample and alongside was a drummer playing to it. it was really inspiring. so we wanted to go back to this idea of sound assembly and create a new series for us to work with called >skematics< its like a diagram or manual to help understand the interconnections between the odd parts we find and assemble, an imaginary manual for a new decade that has not been musically defined yet

heralding the birth of the first leleka is a limited edition, hand stamped, two-tone vinyl release from the labels owner vakula from konotop, whos name is widespread due to the success of releases on firecracker, and recently shevchenko (white labels with prints of ukrainian literary celebrities such as gogol, lesya ukrainka & shevchenko himself). these are an ideally captured ukrainian landscape of change, struggle, nature and art slightly embellished by industrial design of the 50s. and this is what the leleka label is all about, its musical concept reflects vakulas love of folk and live music, where passions and melodies play leading roles. this debut release contains six vintage tracks from vakula, almost serving as a prologue to his recent epic output. the meeting of imported soul, exploitation movies and detroit techno, with ukrainian folk melodies and soviet electronics, offers a glimpse into vakulas way of working, and gives us a taste of things to come

for this first release, we give you the opportunity to grab 4 fantastic trax done by legendary detroit producer : jason grove. born in detroit, he started his career in the late 80s, dj-ing in underground parties when the techno house movement was just at the beginning. he was invited few times on detroit local stations such as wdrq & wjlb to play. some said he was at that time very close to the >wizard<, helping producing their first tracks with anthony srock as final cut. he had many opportunities during the 90s to release some of his work on various prestigious labels, however, as the guy is really hardcore & straight edge, he prefered to continue producing only with analog gears (dont ever speak to him about a computer or hell get mad !) & record his work on cassette only, selling it to indie stores & giving it to friends for some special events (birthday, graduation ect ... !). we heard this story long times ago & it was only when we were in l.a. last year at pooh-bah record shop that we finally managed to get our hands on one of those tapes (one from june 1991 & the other one done in october 1992) with some of the best & incredible music we ve heard in years, it sounded like kerri chandler before kerri chandler did even start to release any tracks ! those first tapes are finally available after a hiatus of more than 15 years on vynil only (!)

one of the most promising artists that has come out of amsterdam over the years, david labeij, has recently had more time to focus on his solo career now that polder, his live act with lauhaus, is an established and high quality techno outfit, with an album on shinedoes intacto imprint and many singles to their and his name. where the infamous polder groove is aimed at blowing up dancefloors, labeijs solo tracks are more on the hypnotic side of techno and house, as each track on this release demonstrates, as well as plenty of bouncing and playful basslines. labeijs sets - live and dj - are notorious for their mesmerizing qualities, and he is rapidly gaining international grounds with his distinct and captivating take on dance music, so we hope you enjoy this release

neon dreams is the debut album from london-based producer and night slugs co-founder james connolly, aka l-vis 1990. across 15-tracks and 55-minutes, james distils a lifetimes worth of musical influences and experiences while conveying the story of the last 12 months in his life through vocalists samantha lim and javeon mccarthy. 2010s *forever you* single, which featured mccarthy, was a key jumping off point in establishing the overall vibe of neon dreams. the track features here as a slimmed down, 3.5 minute version. this length represents approximately the average track-duration across the entire lp, and is indicative of james long-held desire to proffer an album in very much the traditional sense of the term. further vocal turns come from co-founder of the sound pellegrino imprint and french hip-hop outfit ttc, teki latex.

while the first release on wania, busen & paleos >stream of love< (featuring dj sotofetts anthemic overdub-12inchedit) was a rather leftfield affair, dritfett is aimed more directly towards the dancefloor. the label artwork gives a clear clue as to what this release is all about: amongst a number of cryptic messages and shout-outs in norwegian - a tr-909 logo. all the tracks here are based around the 909 - thunderous kickdrums and sharp, hissing hi-hats that cut through the mix. still, theres a broad range of sounds, from head-down, fists-clenched warehouse workouts with an industrial edge, to more melodic tracks with detroit references aplenty. make no mistake though: this is all about the power of the almighty 909. theres no fancy tricks here‚ no ableton-trickery or polished waveforms, just good honest techno with a real raw live feel. this gives the tracks the energy and spontaneity that is sorely missed in many of todays productions. the kind of energy you will find - in abundance - in the house and techno releases of the 90s. the kind of energy that can only be achieved by pressing play on a machine, frenetically twisting knobs and punching buttons while letting the energy of the room decide where to go next.

inner surface music present their next release from manchester based and ,dj support from regis, truss. lucy, cio d or, truncate, samuli kemmpi, perc, inigo kennedy, forward strategy group, shifted, jonas kopp, grovskopa, obtane. inner surface music present the second release on the label, after the success of the first wireman ep we are very proud to present an ep from two of the label owners and. 2011 has already been a very productive year for this duo, with releases on horizontal ground, black sun records and project squared. they also made their first appearance at berghain this march as part of the horizontal ground / frozen border collective. for the second release on inner surface music we are presenting three deeply hypnotic techno tracks built for the dancefloor. non compliant sets the tone for the release with its deep tunnelling soundscapes built round tough techno drums to devastating effect. reverberate moves more towards the housier end of techno playing with dub stabs and lush keys to set the sultry mood. molecular deconstruction closes the release with its metallic drones and trippy sequences building their own cavernous environment to play in.

b1 – salvatore freda - invictionafter numerous great and ingenious releases on cadenza, liebe*detail, freerange and others, salvatore continues with another effective lesson in hypnosis and self-awareness. dont ask, dont tell, just see for yourself!
b2 – frieder blume – we play for love - frieder sounds like those worldly-wise professionals that definitely know there business. but in fact its his first track on vinyl and we all can imagine what this guy will sound like in a few years. we play for love builds and builds and builds and culminates in a climax… bam! rewind please…
