the flamboyant and off-kilter title track from rones latest album, mirapolis is one of the last solo tracks that the producer composed in the spring of 2017: its one of the rare tracks on the album for which i thought about the live performance. while putting the final touches to it in the studio, i imagined myself at festivals via memories of previous tours. i wanted to record a festive track, which completely stands by its funfair vibe. with this new four-track ep (including three remixes), combined with a new video by aurélie castex, rone extends the carnival of electronic cultures of his latest musical citadel to the dancefloor – and our screens. johannes brecht, shadow craftsman of the hamburg label diyanamics studios, offers a refined reading throbbing with cerebral pulsations. appropriating the main theme in a subtle way, coated with multiple harmonic layers, his textures alternate white noise with organic basses that builds up to a delightfully classical cello outro. german-based figurehead of the south american scene, comeme label boss and founding member of the late closer music project, matias aguayo, has never ceased throughout his career to set off little revolutions on the planet of demanding dancefloors. playful and wild, aguayo sweeps in with a ritornello of chiptune sounds and orchestral arrangements, washing it over with a huge wave of analog synthesizers that destroys everything in its path. french techno scene boss laurent garnier embraces the original piece in all its meticulousness and its psychedelic lifeblood. a hypnotic and mischievous loop infiltrates itself without warning into the reptilian cells of the listeners brain.

strange alliances holds two striking and contemporary tracks by the tel aviv native – who also has releases out on turbo and life and death - plus remixes by trikk and rebolledo. and so it seems the amsterdam based label has another winner on their hands. with autarkic having an exceptional personality one would expect the same from his music. and this is exactly what you get with strange alliances, as his originality shines through on both tracks. interesting fact is that autarkic used a lot of live instruments and his own vocals on both tracks, adding to the ingenuity of the dgtl 006 release.

roberto clementi delivers his cadmio ep on echocord sub-label echo echo this october, containing four original tracks from the italy-based artist. kenneth christiansens echo echo imprint, offers up its fifth release here, accurately reflecting his appetite for the more celestial, dubbed out side of techno. this release sees the return of roberto clementi to the echo platform after three releases on the parent imprint, echocord plus 10 years worth of released music to his name, notably a number of eps and an album on soma. the ep kicks off with a fresh dub induced charmer entitled conte which in italian translates to with you, and stands as an accurate tag for this warm and intimate opener. irradi follows, a more upbeat and industrious dance track – with euphoric synth lines sitting harmoniously in between the more uniform percussion before stimulating crashing symbols are introduced in the latter stages. title-track cadmio is up next, a more dropped-tempo, electro tinged number, with off-kilter drum patterns gracefully balancing amongst the alluringly sedative melody. the b2 and final track blue growth’ then provides a close to the ep with a lo fi 4/4 drum pattern together with hardened snares and crashes contrasted by delicate dub swells providing feelings of symmetry a theme that is consistent throughout the whole ep.

amish boy aka sküge (not to be confused with skudge) is hugues croibien, a thirty seven year old belgian who has experimented with electronic music since his teens. with a diet of seal phüric, the prodigy, autechre and unit moebius stoking his primordial fire, croibien began to align with the rage that exists in the breakcore genre. already an addict of reggae and dub at this time, croibien decided to create some cut-up raggacore with his brand new ableton live 3 software. meanwhile with friends, croibien created break n brol, a non-lucrative association which tried to promote alternative electronic music in liège where he lived. they premiered some bassline stars kanji kinetic and -squire of gothos- on the belgian scene, alongside other alternative electronic composers and musicians like subjex, ebola, mustard gunn and herrmutt lobby. the fellowship decided to create a free net label to release compilations with the bnb party artists. the rough style techno resurgence over the last few years has precipitated a metamorphosis, sküge became amish boy more glitchy than techno, more offbeat than acid and more ambivalent than industrial. although heavily invested for two decades now, laika test project on power vacuum will be croibiens first vinyl release, with a follow-up already in the pipeline.

new glasgow electro and techno label tremors presents our first vinyl release - aftershocks volume 1, a collection of remixes of tracks from our bandcamp releases. the a1 comes from electro legend dexter, a man who needs no introduction, remixing old boy s tracer. next up is james shinra (analogical force) one of our favourite contemporary electro artists, remixing arctor memory gene. on the b-side we have patrick walker (forward strategy group) remixing arctor s selfish lover into a slamming acid techno banger. rounding it off is relatively unknown hungarian producer david harleydson who has been self-releasing highly impressive electro albums through bandcamp. he has applied his own unique style in a remix of arctor the gulf.

the german boogie compilation “boogie on the mainline” presents a selection of 10 rare disco tracks from germany plus one more tune from austria, all of them, originally released between 1980 and 1987. check! . the fully licenced album contains little known tunes by groups like imagination (which you can also see on the cover of the lp), squish, upstairs, the poptown syndicate and more. as the boogie-ish post-disco side of german music history still basically remains undiscovered as of yet, “boogie on the mainline” hopefully will shed some light again on 11 rare gems that were mainly published on small or private labels. the album is released on loudly pressed double vinyl with gatefold jacket on the new artless cuckoo sister label boogie on the mainline records. it includes extensive liner notes by compiler john raincoatman aka dj scientist.

rekids regular markus suckut drops his third album entitled heaven is a state of mind this september. when not helming his own imprints, sckt and pattern research, the dusseldorf artist has been releasing on rekids since 2015 and is now a core member of the labels family. earlier this year saw the arrival of new life ep, a mesmerising release exemplary of the producer’s knack for making imaginative house and techno complete with a compelling groove. no stranger to the long player format having released two albums previously, markus suckut returns to radio slaves label with a quality nine-track album. from the word go suckuts album demonstrates his versatility as a musician, initiating with a beatless intro named escape, before breeze comes into play with its skipping percussion and loopy atmospherics. crunchy snares and crystalline synths make up suns out whilst future is not always bright drives forward with its sultry low-end, ethereal pads and sci-fi bleeps, leading into take a break and its medley of elaborate drums, living up to its name. above the clouds is comprised of intricate notes and soothing chords whilst the machinelike orchid features electro inspired melodies, contrasting to the albums title track, heaven is a state of mind, with its bumpy bass and warping textures. wonderland (version) is a ghostly acid cut which suitably closes the album

long time scene stalwart darren price is stepping out on brand new label, kilsha music, with a fantastic ep of monster house tracks arriving. opener charm offensive is a fantastic ten-minute trip into loose limbed techno. drums, bass and percussion all wrap and weave around each other and melt your mind in the process. a rasping lead synth eventually becomes the focal point as background chords bring real soul. the brilliantly bristling everybody jack (uw live maschine mix) is a full fat track with busy textured synths, sci-fi effects and old school jack vocals that will really work the dance floor into a lather. its dynamic and ever evolving, with plenty of tense peaks and troughs throughout to keep the floor on its toes. the final vinyl track is this is house music, a deeper cut with warm, warbling bass and a muted acid line spraying about the mix. it slowly builds the pressure in heady fashion and is one to really hypnotise.

late night techno, deep house, ambient soundscapes, introspective electro and sci-fi soundtracks with strong influence from the music of detroit and chicago. obscure australian imprint offworld records reactivates after a 21-year hiatus to issue the still tomorrow ep by producer tim jackiw as a label follow-up to the rare science of sound vol 1 touted as one of the best deep techno 12inch singles of the 1990s, reissued in 2016 on the recondite label and now highly sought after by collectors worldwide. a series of archival dat and tape recordings produced in tim’s adelaide-based home studio during the same mid-90’s period as science of sound and the recent memory feedback release on slow life berlin, this 6-track extended play 12inch covers a broad spectrum of electronic sounds including late night techno, deep house, ambient soundscapes, introspective electro and sci-fi soundtracks with strong infl uence from the music of detroit and chicago.

new from the ever discerning nous camp comes ayln s rehtomep, a 25 minute exploration of the kind of unrelenting machine music for which both artist and label have come to prominenc. side a is a journey through sparse syncopated rhythms, industrial noise motifs and the kind of buzz and hum that the heroes of the second wave of techno music championed, culminating in the ep s title track rehtom which is an exercise in analogue techno mastery. side b s delivery is subtly more dulcet, kicking off with digital memories, which has a more classical techno structure than anything that came before, building intricate melodies into an otherwise taut and tightly woven electronic landscape while the closing impulsive sheit is a gentle downbeat number, exploring the space within the music and creating an atmospheric ambient discourse to outro the heady charge of the ep as a whole.

seth troxlers definitive dance floor label play it say it has a real coup for their next single: a collaborative track from trendsetting and globally renowned brothers nic fanciulli and mark fanciulli, one that is likely to become an anthem for the months ahead. the high impact star is the sort of big, muscular main room tune that blows crowds away. built around barreling drums and rubbery bass, the track is brought to life with a classic vocal sample from rose royces 1978 hit wishing on a star that truly sets the whole thing on fire. creeping synth sounds add another edge to things and the results are sure to sweep up even the biggest of dance floors. the superb dub version has even more focus on the monstrous drums and allows the synths to breath that bit more for extra euphoric effects. this is a brilliant pairing and it s no surprise the prominent brothers come up with some real house heat here.

gabriella vergilov returns to the label s vinyl arm with a set of distinctive hardware techno reuminations to send shivers down your spine. termosfera strides in confidently with a grinding mechanical synth hook that subtly shifts around the 4/4 drum pattern like all the best wormhole techno should. siempre loco is a sparser affair that focuses on space and poise, using minimal ingredients for maximum effect. boring shit bucks against the suggestion of its title to fire off a set of rhythmical cycles that feel indebted to the vast outer reaches of space. detroit hero t-1000 runs with this idea and pings the track into a particularly funky star system somewhere very far away from planet earth.

having recently been remixed by radio slave, ozel ab and fc kahuna on phantasy, james welsh returns to the label with zurich/a65. anoth-er expertly executed two-track primed for the club but infused with detail and sheer personality, it further cements his idiosyncratic and forward-thinking interpretation of techno, industrial and experimental electronic styles. opening the ep, zurich takes an infectious, urgent bassline and gradu-ally expands into a weightless landscape. slowly revealing it’s rhythmic intent, it seamlessly blends a distinct melancholy with intensity, which, like the best of welshs work so far, is both wistful and physical. appropriate to its namesake, a65 sets the scene by sampling the un-mistakable sound of speeding yorkshire traffic, opening up a breathless musical autobahn, driven by luminescent synths that pulse with euphoria and energy.

betrachtet man die bewegte biografie des can-bassisten holger czukay, könnte man zu dem schluss kommen, der experimentierfreudige musiker sei ein exzentrischer und unbändiger freigeist. doch czukay betonte in interviews immer wieder, dass er in seinem schaffen stets auf einen musikalischen partner angewiesen sei, egal ob in form eines konkreten gegenübers oder durch radiowellen und später das internet. doch die meisten seiner partner waren aus fleisch und blut. sein dem kino verwandtes gesamtwerk schmückt sich mit einer besetzung, die der eines scorcese-films gleichkommt: brian eno, phew, rolf dammers, david sylvian, annie lennox, jah wobble, die kollegen von can – die aufzählung ließe sich noch weit fortsetzen. viele dieser meisterwerke sind heute vergriffen, und so hat es sich das label grönland, das anfang des jahres zu holgers 80. geburtstag bereits die vielbeachtete retrospektive cinema veröffentlichte, zur aufgabe gemacht, holgers musik in remasterten neuauflagen wieder zugänglich zu machen. den auftakt machten zwei wiederveröffentlichungen mit david sylvian (japan), der als musiker so sehr zu czukay passt, wie vielleicht kein anderer – sein werk ist geprägt von gegensätzen zwischen einladender popmusik und eigensinnigen experimenten. zwei der spannendsten dieser musikalischen versuche finden sich in -plight & premonition- (1988) und -flex & mutability- (1989), für deren wiederveröffentlichung kein geringerer als sylvian selbst die initiative ergriff. czukays musikalischer erstling -canaxis 5-, eine 1968 heimlich in der nacht in stockhausens kölner studio beim wdr aufgenommene frühe sampling-arbeit mit rolf dammers, die heute bei discogs höchstpreise erzielt, folgt ende september – zusammen mit -movies- (1979), dem ersten soloalbum nach can, sowie der postpunk-platte -full circle- (1982), eine kollaboration mit jaki liebezeit (can) und jah wobble (pil), die holger zu seinen favoriten zählte. mitte oktober dann erscheinen vier weitere solo-platten czukays, die einmal mehr deutlich machen, dass der kölner musiker zu den wichtigsten deutschen künstlern der nachkriegszeit zu zählen ist: -der osten ist rot- (1984), -rome remains rome- (1987), -radiowave surfer- (1991) und -moving pictures- (1993).

berlin producer kevin de vries has emerged as one of the capitals most hotly tipped newcomers since his track eternity appeared on adam beyer’s drumcode label in 2016. besides such luminaries as beyer, sven väth and richie hawtin, tale of us have also recognised his talent, paying de vries the compliment of featuring his track path to immortality on their fabric 97 cd this year. if thats not enough theyve also given kevin a place of honour on their very own afterlife label compilation in the form of magoa. which brings us to the matter in hand. de vries debut for cocoon is characterised by significantly higher levels of impulsive energy without ever losing sight of his instinctive feel for harmony.

om:nia is a record label for artists we believe in to release a wide variety of music, everything from psychedelic jazz to drum & bass, threading a flow and feeling which will connect all the sonics together.
our first release is by one of our favourite artists and genius musician, stl. we spoke to stephan in great length about our concept and idea for the label, after some time he sent us these specific tracks. manoeuvring along dubby and dusty grooves, with dreamy melancholic ambient textures and a epic 17 minute -untitled dubscape-. this record is as much to dance too in a club as it is to listen too at home.

our brand new series systematic soundscapes is for fans of club music made with highgrade and original synth sounds and without many times used vocal or sound sound samples. all tracks come along with fresh and unheard vibes. for the first volume which was compiled by marc romboy, sascha braemer celebrates his label debut with the moving butterflies, followed by high energy rhythms by spirit catcher from belgium who have already produced many tracks on the label. roy rosenfeld contributes distorted reality, which is in the best tradition of his music released on kx and systematic, straight, powerful and touching. and also thyladomid has his debut with devils dance, musical stuff as we know it from the label.

it s time again for us to welcome another first timer to the second state roster: rocko garoni. having been label manager of sisyphon, in-house imprint of the acclaimed sisyphos club in berlin, garoni is no stranger to curating high quality records, and this time he gets to be curator of his own stunning detection ep. jumping in head first, detection , mischievous number that is equal parts vicious and cunning as it is sensual and inviting. provocative female whispers float over a beat sure to slay any crowd, any time. switching gears, garoni heads into houser territories on phaseful , where glimmers of classic house artifacts are scattered like flickering shimmers over an energetic drum illustration. coming up next is tragedy . it s low slung drums, vast spanning bass and sinister vocal declarations make it an ideal ambassador for the dark mysterious nights. wrapping up the ep is a huge rework of detection by regal, who churns out a burner by cranking up the tempo and tension with crisp drums and an undeniable classic rave leads sure to make the forefathers of techno proud. if it keeps up like this, we expect much more big things in the future from rocko garoni!

armand (26 jahre, synths & drum machines) und clara (25 jahre, vocals & drum machines) lernten sich auf einer kunsthochschule bei paris kennen. er schwört auf den techno des berühmten warp-labels, sie sang bei den garage-rockern cannery terror. nach ersten diy-shows stieß das hippe label cracki records auf agar agar, 2016 erschien die debüt-ep -cardan-, auf der clara erstmals ihre rolle als hohepriesterin des goth auslebte: eine art wiedergeburt von siouxsie im gewand von donna summer. stücke, die klingen wie ein diskoider schamanischer trip, dunstig und ultra-langsam, ein aufruf zu besessenheit und hingabe. zwei jahre danach sind ihre konzerte monate im voraus ausverkauft. nun erscheint ihr mit spannung erwartetes debütalbum -the dog and the future-, wieder mit dem markenzeichen von agar agar: claras hingebungsvolle stimme schwebt über makellose, dunstige slow-disco instrumentals. es ist ein melancholisches, nostalgisches und zugleich poppig-futuristisches album, das sich thematisch um die virtuelle realität, um simulationen des lebens, um hunde und um die liebe dreht, und vor augenzwinkern in richtung pop-kultur, vor labyrinthischen rätseln und opium-geschwängerten schwingungen nur so strotzt. es oszilliert zwischen granatapfel großen herzen, einem himmel aus schatten, dem dunst der erde, mystischen zuckungen und dem schwarzen leder des nihilismus der neuen blank-generation.
