the second nj is from malmö s prins emanuel fasaan, fri form, geezer and master of many trades. first up is the wonky, rugged flanger jam okända skäl (reasons unknown) then comes the spesh slow burner ensamma stunder (lonely moments). this doozy of a 7- is very much about his place of birth in skåne. with the art inspired by a cave painting and a megalithic monument from the iron age close to his mum s house. life goes in circles…

the start of a new series

the shanklin sessions came out of the shanklin road studio that andy sims shared with one of his partners from soft rocks, bobby coulman. acid jan started its life as a jan hammer edit that andy was doing for one of soft rocks disco powerplay releases. there were a few parts that never made the final cut, but were too good to leave, so andy got friend jaime read in to jam with the left over bits, and from that acid jan was born (none of the jans original parts made it to this finished re-incarnation). acid jan found it s way onto cynic label boss felixs usb and subsequently was played at every festival/club that felix played for about a year. when andy heard felix playing it at alfresco festival in 2016, they decided to release it on cynic. in search of a b side for the release, andy dug out the other dat s from the session acid jan was recorded at, and found sitars over shanklin, a suitably oddball track to grace the other side. a little piece of chicago via india recorded in brighton.

the ep name “the night is yours” is inspired by a billboard which says “the world is yours” in the movie “scarface”. another van believes that the night never belongs to anyone, the night is itself an eternal dj, and this ep is full of tracks that touch you the most before sunrise.

ghent s muzi cartel crew step into the label game with this assured four tracker from promising emergent talents. viktor udvari is up first with -for our love-, a fired up but delicately executed techno jam with plenty of harmonic balance to make for the most satisfying trip skywards. mrsch takes things deeper and groovier on -pas cu pas-, leaning heavy on the bass and leaving a little more space in the mix for maximum meditation. kled baken s remix of lebawski gets into a minimal house roll with spaced out licks of vocal and hazy pads, and ray mono nudges barbosa s -quinoa- into murky depths for a proper underground roller.
