is it balearic side label magic wand returns with another stunning va collection in the celebrated series, and comes jam-packed with four fantastic balearic wonders, respectfully extended and amended. magic? you bet.

the a side arbitrary stakes out its intentions early with a solid groove and dubbed out stabs. a little vocal in the main breakdown increases the tension before it all kicks back in with a reassuring thud. on the flip galaxy high is equally deep but opts for some juno chords and soaring strings to bring it life. finally on lgb some 80s soul samples are worked in to a slightly tougher electronic jam.

at sound camp south asia jackmate worked together with asvajit, one of sri lankas most talented producers. several tracks have been worked out and we are proud to present the first two here on phil e! waran dub is a stellar piece of dub-techno catching the relaxed atmosphere of the island with it s lush synthworks and a bass-heavy rhythm-track. teahouse jam on the other side is a percussive jam with jazzy counterparts and moist field recordings. thanks for purchasing a real copy!

as a man well versed in the moves of the old-school, fabio monesi launches his albion imprint with the immaculately executed styles of 623, full of sexy 90s synth notes and crisp, pumping beats. washerman brings a more rugged style on his remix of the tune, dropping in some cheeky and thoroughly familiar samples, while the melody wobbles around an amorphous scale. the peephouse finds monesi reaching back to the soothing organ tones of the dx7, with a gentle and piano-driven throw down that stills carries plenty of heft for the floor. rio padice steps up for another remix of 623 and spreads a strange and nervous shape-shifter of a late-night jam, scattering the vocals like confetti and nudging the drums out of joint on a whim.

as emotional rescue continues to deliver the goods for those who love discofied rarities from the 70s and 80s, here comes this ep from kevin harrison, originally released in 1982 and worth a pretty penny second hand. it is a wistful, proggy kind of groove that finds harrisons voice lost in an alien phaser while the live band feel gels with synthesiser parts for a fluid kind of cosmic goodness. there is simply no arguing with the plush melodic wonderment of >views of the rhine<, while >fly< is the jam the party djs will reach for, not least for its slinky bassline. amazing.

total control dislocate expectations with this inaugural home loan records 12 inch. not the charged up paranoid vox/guitar/drums combo that we have become accustomed to through their visceral live shows - instead men with machines producing pensive proto-tech experiments and tense industrial wave. includes the original version of carpet rash which was re-recorded in full band mode for henge beat, and two previously unreleased immersive rhythm tracks formed through collaboration between guitarist mikey young and drummer james vinciguerra. vinciguerra would fire deranged beats down the hole while young would jam over them, watching waves in a trance from his perch at phillip island. on the flip we find two reconstructions from home loan manager michael ozone. carpet rash receives the club re-contextualisation with ozone fully utilising its penetrating synth hook, while new age hop climbs the arabic scale.

dutch master orlando voorn with a two-track release containing some of his pioneering material as format. rightly recognised as one of a handful of artists who built the early, crucial bridges between europe and detroit in the late-eighties and early nineties via collaborations with juan atkins and output for kms, voorn’s legacy is unquestionable. winning hollands dmc championships in 1986 and 1987 was the real career catalyst and there seems to be no let up in quality since then, either as a dj or a multifaceted, multi-genre producer. these two tracks are produced in 1993 and still didnt loose their magic!damn right and jam session have that the raw charm, edge and vibe sounds so current. energetic, melodic and broken, both tracks touch on a myriad of styles but what shines through is how modern electronic styles can be traced back to this sort of fantastic, unique output. format remastered could be sitting snuggly alongside modern house, techno, uk garage, uk funky and many more contemporary styles. this is a rare chance to grab beautifully treated versions of classic voorn material.

owain glyndwr has become a symbol of pride and freedom. he sacrificed everything for his dreams. where he died is not known, and the location of his grave has become one of the great mysteries of welsh history. owain attempted to capture the site of ‘chastiel bran’ or ‘crow castle’ in 1402. unfortunately he failed and the castle remains as a local monument to this very day. ccc1402 is the final chapter of the collectors quad pack, to celebrate that, we are even quad stamping the release for you in blood red ink. the music will speak for itself.
