we are happy to introduce a new release and a new project from ben vedren and chez damier, a new collaboration that has been in the making for some time now. side aa1 presents a unique sound in its vibe, kind of a minimal track. the french discussion/vocal in the background adds another dimension. you don t need to speak the language to understand what s going on, but you must wonder at some point: do i understand french or is it the music that made me understand them? an -organ- sound intervenes towards the end bringing power and light to the hall. it s eleven minutes of pure music! while -aa- is composed of two different remixes of a different track, -berlin nights in paris- it can probably be called the house anthem. it starts strong with some acid sound and is filled with a lot of wonderful elements. like a gourmet meal, you wonder if the track shouldn t have been at least three times longer to satisfy the gluttony of the listen. the techno remixes of the track. it s a perfect example of detroit meets house. techno track can, with no doubt, feed and drive the dance floor. no need for more than five words to describe it – it s a serious techno track.

camea&#700,,,,s latest release on her imprint neverwhere pays homage to her hometown seattle&#700,,,,s original underground rave warehouse, naf studios, where she went dancing in the late 90s and began her journey that ultimately landed her in berlin. also where nirvanna&#700,,,,s “smells like teen spirit” video was filmed (and ironically now a catholic publishing house), the hedonistic venue is legendary to those who picked up rave flyers scattered on the streets of seattle and took a chance on an emerging new electronic music scene. both originals reflect the raw warehouse vibe of this era, and matrixxman and markus suckut have weighed in with heavy remixes. markus puts his signature on the naf 97 original with a deep space atmospheric techno banger, and matrixxman reworks the original 303 recordings in jack u, sending it into another dimension - and even further.

after being in the reggae band the heavymanners (parted in 2009) led by takeshi heavy akimoto, and participating as a supporting member of dry&heavy after which the band reunited with the original rhythm section, sahara (keyboard/programming) and ohkuma, who worked as the drummer of soul dimension, started the dub unit undefined. it is no exaggeration to say they have pushed the variously formatted term of dub to the far shore experimentally and furthermore, liberated the definition of dub to undefined. their debut 7inch vinyl released in march last year from their own label newdubhall is being well received even overseas and in the spring of 2018, this 10inch vinyl new culture days will be out, which will be their second release.

klangkeller records, recognized for modular sound experiments, catchy beats and percussive rhythms, has done it again with audiokerns third release a personal way ep. the ep delves into experimental, abstract and electronica grounds. audiokerns sounds are stimulated by the external world and their atmosphere, with a drop of the basic essence of electronic dance music. these 8 tracks are certainly a confirmation of it. uncanny valleys live drum is fresh and magnetic alongside dissimilar jingles and swishes which positively balance. wired system is abstract, with a dark added vocal at the end which brands it as a powerful track. differently, under the same sun is entirely melodic, with beautiful dreamy waves that genuinely make you touch the sun. it continues with the night of glory. its duskier moodier vibrations and a few words add an exciting and dark temper that still fits purely within the ep. element of trance and hypnotic place are all about bringing the listener into another dimension. it alienates and hypnotizes you from reality through the quantity of small alterations and sub kicks within the sound. to conclude, dont forget the animals is mysteriously percussive, its like different animal roars assorted together, its gorgeously confusing.

transcendentally beautiful, the space ladys music is returning to earth. transmitting messages of peace and harmony, the space lady began her odyssey on the streets of boston in the late 70s, then san francisco ten years later, playing versions of contemporary pop music with an accordion and dressed flamboyantly. following the theft and destruction of her accordion , the space lady invested in a then-new casio keyboard, complete with a phase shifter and headset mic, birthing an otherworldly new dimension to popular song that has captured the imaginations of the underground and its leading exponents ever since.

for our second ep, we are shifting from manila, philippines, to our other home city, bangkok, the thai kingdom’s capital. hailing from here is dott, one of three founders of more rice, a truly home grown bangkok electronic producer, dj and the talent behind mah noi ep. dott already has a number of releases under his belt and is now a regular on the asian circuit, playing gigs around the region. at 26 years old this is quite impres- sive and we are very proud to be releasing his first pressed record under more rice.
mah noi ep embodies dott’s sound, which is deep, driven and moody, whilst keeping an organic twist throughout and clearly inspired by his home country, the key to setting the release apart and making it tasty for more rice. the careful and precise placement of vintage thai samples gives it that extra flavour and mystery that can engulf the listeners and dancers, whilst the remix by eric volta truly transports you to another dimension.

the 70s saw a growing interest in so called dub versions, an approach based on deforming, stripping and rebuilding the original tune and came known as dub music. king tubby along with other dub wizards such as, lee perry & prince jammy, were responsible for this exciting new dimension to jamaican music. however, most of these dub albums were pressed in very small quantities and disappeared quickly. one of those albums is dub expression by errol brown and the revolutionaries. no gimmicks on this one, he uses simple echo and delay, a few vocals sliding in and out, separate instruments floating on top, with respect to the melody of the tunes. a mixture of dub and instrumentals. enjoy these super tracks!

asc is a perfect fit for silent season, favouring as he does greyscale melodic content and a cerebral approach to mutant techno. cerulean is a fine opening gambit on this 12inch, all crooked kick patterns and micro bleeps calling out into nothing, while dimension 1010 maintains the austere approach with a slow swell of melancholic ambience over a meditative rhythm. enchanted is no less restrained, but there s a subtle shard of light in the murmuring pad that lingers in the background. that s well and truly dealt with on the bleak beatdown molniya, which pings bleakest techno into a black hole of sound, which is of course a wonderful thing to behold.
