deep club resident dj and head strobe controller lone dancer marks our label s 4th entry with his first solo 12- on vinyl. after finishing two quality tape albums in 2017 already for jacktone and always human tapes, -house is a tunnel- arrives packed with 4 club-ready jagged tekno bangers and one cut for the chillout room. side a - communication: the title track is a sure-fire party starter centered around a thick kickdrum and a repeating synth rhythm laced with weird percussion and synth stabs trickling through the texture. next, -po12-3- combines crisp claps, hats, and a central synth theme that calls for an intergalactic rave. -colony dwelling- kicks off the transportation side, taking our extraterrestrial dancers to a new dimension steeped in fog juice and flangers. -floor- has a chill intro until it launches into a gritty track that throws broken kickdrums and distorted synths in every direction. finally, -night rain- puts the party to rest utilizng soft pads while hinting at moments from the night before. overall, -house is a tunnel- is a fitting dance-centric conglomeration of lone dancer s unique style of jacking techno, broken beats, and spaced out tracks that has set him apart in 2017. —ryan scannura

out on the floor firecrackers that ignited the northern soul boom on soul for dancers, journalist (mojo, record collector) and r&b authority lois wilson takes a trip back in time to the rare soul scene s roots, to where it all began if you like. many of the 32 tracks on this 2lp vinyl set (selected from the 61-track 2cd compilation) filled the floor at manchester s the twisted wheel and london s the scene club, both precursors of the wigan casino, blackpool mecca, the golden torch in stoke et al. the sparks that lit the fuse, these early triumphs would give rise to an era defining scene, one which became a treasured subcultural phenomenon.

first clone classic cuts compilation with some rare but very influential dance tracks carefully selected and remastered for future generations. classic cuts is a selection of some genre bending dance tracks which now , many years after their release date, can be classified as electro, disco, italo(disco) or house. at the time these where among the most cutting edge underground dance records around and its producers are criticly acclaimed for their pioneering work. now around 20 years after the original release, these tracks still sound totally fresh and are an influence for a new generation. this first compilation comes after 10 vinyl re-releases on the clone classic cuts label, 10 releases which have been remastered from original masters found in dusty basements in milan or chicago, or remastered from one of the very rare original 12inches with the best possible digital technologies. check out this music of larry heard (mr fingers) , fockewulf 190 , jackson jones, los angeles tf, tyree cooper, oppenheimer analysis, mike dunn, gay cat park or knight action... it seems these pioneers were so far ahead of its time, you begin to wonder what the majority of the electronic-music producers have been working on these past two decades... this seems to be an essential timeless document!
lyon-based beatsmith ethyène has patented a certain style of mid-tempo house music applying a french touch aesthetic to disco, r&b and hip-hop sample references. through releases on longtime underground favorite kolour ltd and upstart labels like kyoku, as well as contributions to his own moonrise hill material, the frenchman has quickly built a sought after discography. his collaboration with better listen comes at an interesting time, as he seems to really be refining his sound, maturing sonically and honing the synthesis of the aforementioned influences to something nicely unique. the playin with fire ep is a deliciously bittersweet four track affair. the a1 slot sees e joining forces with his homie, the much acclaimed folamour, for the superlative why my love. meanwhile, loneliness of the shadow dancer- continues the r&b cream vibes, combining a classic head-nodding hip-hop flip with a soul chorus. the b-side gets a bit moodier, with the title track climatically building on hypnotically deep riffs and vocals and i sold yayo to buy kicks serving as the bob james-esque closer. the package is a cohesive reflection of a pensive and slightly anguished mindstate, with boom bap cultural influences and his familiar philadelphia streets functioning as the canvas. dont be surprised if this record serves as a point of stylistic elevation for the young producer, with plenty more of this new ammunition in the chamber. and you know the saying: if you play with fire, you might turn into a scorching hot phoenix.
