two years on from marius lauber aka roosevelt’s debut album, his sophomore effort young romance, released september 28, sees the dj, producer and vocalist break free from the dance floor and step out into the light, a transition he makes effortlessly as he asserts his place in the upper echelons of guitar and synth-pop royalty. having taken some time since his eponymous 2016 debut to tour tirelessly and pen remixes for chvrches, glass animals, rhye and more, this sophomore record began in his hometown of cologne before being finished in los angeles, where it was mixed by chris coady (beach house/grizzly bear/future islands). here, roosevelt covers the trials and tribulations of love, finding ‘home’, touring and losing touch, propelling himself into uncharted territory, both sonically and aesthetically.

lxury returns with an all greco remix package of square 1 featuring deptford goth. joe goddard starts off the record with his quirky adaptation of square 1, followed by the mysterious v.o.x and their spacey dub edit. on the b side george t & jean gabriel becker bring their 90s dat loop sound to the table and to round things off we have the original cut of square 1 featuring deptford goth. prepare for 4 tracks of peculiar melodics, 90s dat loops, and blissed out cuts...
joe goddard just had to knock on that door. the wall of his recording studio had been pulsating with original analogue house jams for too long, dry ice practically sifting through the vents. behind that door was gentleman george t, and before long the two heads were nodding to obscure dat edits and 4th hand soul samples as george plundered a wealth of forgotten late 90s dats from of a box in the corner. true story. and now those dat edits, lovingly un-restored, are available for the first time on greco-roman, the record label, party and artist collective of whom hot chip s joe goddard is a founding member.
greco-romance. it has often been said that the early underground parties thrown by the greco-roman artist collective, party and record label were romantic affairs. maybe it was the punch, maybe it was the music, but love was certainly in the air. and so the third solo ep from hot chips joe goddard picks up where last summers ep *taking over*s love affair with club basements left off.
this autumn the most prolific label in the game, greco-roman, keeps on giving as they announce an ep from rising manchester dj/producer tcts aka sam o neill. the respected london collective will release *these heights* including remixes by detroit swindle and greco-roman soundsystem.
in little over a 2 month campaign valentina has been so very received by radio with online press and print press too. she has crept into a couple of radio shows thus far with wolves being dropped on the phil & alice (radio 1) show already her online presence has grown from strength to strength since we launched an exclusive stream with gorilla vs bear. since that launch we have had such amazing feedback not only in the uk but europe and the row.

following his self-assured debut single *sea* in late 2012, roosevelt returns with his debut ep *elliot*, another glimpse of the cologne producers hazy, loved-up guitar pop. featuring brand new tracks *montreal* and *elliot* - the latter an ode to a girl and featuring girls n guns in the soon-to-be-seen video - as well as the brilliant debut *sea* and *around you* which surfaced online earlier this year, roosevelt has spent the past year honing his trademark balearic electronica. last time around, roosevelt supported label-mate totally enormous extinct dinosaurs on his sold-out uk tour, but fresh from playing boiler room and melt! in berlin, roosevelt has just completed his debut dj tour of the us including dates in new york and la.
hot on the heels of their recently released label compilation we make colourful music because we dance in the dark, and an ep from new talent tcts, london via berlin collective greco-roman get set to release *our town* by letthemusicplay featuring kate tempest. starting out as a teen rapper in lewisham and now hailed by the guardian as one of the brightest british talents around, 27 yearold south london spoken word phenomenon kate tempest has been causing a stir at poetry slams and performances up and down the uk, from glastonbury festival to the edinburgh fringe. this year saw her self-penned performance piece brand new ancients claim the ted hughes award for innovation in poetry – making her the first person under 40 to do so – and shortly after her victory she was one of eight poets commissioned to perform at the hayward gallerys light show in london.
following releases from disclosure, vampire weekends baio and hot chips joe goddard feat boris dlugosch, london via berlin collective greco-roman release the *i m not dancing* ep by tirzah (produced by micachu).
i am sure joe goddard needs no introduction, the co-founder of greco-roman and leading member of hot chip + one half of 2 bears releases this stunning 4 track ep. the title taking over is, as joe says: a reference to that moment when the music at a club starts to really hit you, when it forces you to focus on it and the night ahead. featuring collaborations with boris dlugosch and mara carlyle, taking over is an attempt to make synthesizers sound nice. the lead single from the ep is the step together which was premiered on the b traits (in for annie mac) on bbc r1 last friday. since that announcement step together has received more plays across the bbc networks. we have big plans radio wise for this track and we expect to see a lot more plays forthcoming across, bbc r1, 6 music, 1xtra, xfm and kiss fm.
disclosure have made quite a stir with >the face< ep and we are now pleased to announce the remix ep. featuring re-works of >boiling< from dixon and medlar, and joe goddards huge take on >control<, backed with mak & pastemans take on >what s in your head<.
disclosure have been attracting the attention of all and sundry of late and their next ep is their biggest to date and should cement their reputation further. the face ep set for release on june 4th through greco-roman and throws two new vocalists into the mix in the shape of sinead harnett and ria ritchie.

joe goddard is surely one of the busiest men in the world of electronic music: writer and producer behind the world-conquering hot chip, acclaimed solo artist, travelsome dj, prolific remixer, one half of the emerging 2 bears house duo and one of the founding members of the greco-roman record label and party collective. goddards first solo material in 18 months should open with a chorus of angels, before title track >gabriel< strides confidently into familiar territory of londons clubland and its rich musical influences, this time goddard choosing gospel and house as his parameters to create a bone fide underground radio and club hit which currently sits on the bbc radio 1 playlist.
taking us deeper into the night are the four remixes: london veteran seiji fuses house and garage for a 6 minute roller, dfas juan maclean delves into his deep house roots with his new peach melba project, london duo compound one pay homage to gabriels uk garage roots with sweet old school 2 step and hyperdubs ossie turns in a decidedly trippy uk funky hybrid.
teeds sound swings between overt musicality and scarily on-point dance floor intuition, tearing up gigs around the globe with his live show of bizarre instruments, glitter cannons and of course… dancing dinosaurs. beautiful blip and blop intro, touching vocals, and scathing drum beat break is the makeup of totally enormous extinct dinosaurs track, household goods. this is seriously good remix ep featuring mixes from justin martin, lone & 2 bears. dj support from erol alkan, annie mac & tayo.
this is the one. this is the summer tune of 2011. skream annie mac & nick grimshaw have all been building the hype hackmans epic title track >close<. probably one of the best pieces of, bass driven vocal dance music this year. cheekily sniping the alicia keys acapella from >no one< and employing the pitching down technique hackman compliments the vocal riff with layers of heavily clapped out garage breakbeats, and tops it off with a euphoric, futuristic grime bassline that rolls out like an atlantic breaker. its not just close, its perfect - and its another effortlessly curated release from greco-roman.
