transmissions from the cyber dance imprint have been sporadic since its inception in 2005, but when they arrive they are always something very special indeed. ostensibly one of italo discos great lost producers, we suspect that bandidos gang may well be a nom de plume for one of the labels many associates. whatever their provenance, the tracks certainly sound like vintage italo, with >marinche< leading with a pulsating bass arpeggio and synth horn melody worthy of moroder, whilst the flemming dalum & steen gjerulff remix adds layers of vocoder and a variety of cosmic accents to its sturdy frame. >last train to tucamari< meanwhile takes a more languid approach, pulling in an opposite direction to the speeding train samples, whilst flemming dalum & mike saltas remix adds some guitar licks, hazy synth atmospherics and even a flute solo which just adds to the classic italo feel.

whats this tune? is a question djs are asked frequently, though very rarely by each other. >amame< has been floating around a very select dj circle on limited vinyl pressing for some four months, and the question has evolved to >how can i get hold of this tune?<. amame is a murk production from oscar g and ralph falcon under the guise of intruder. any murk production is a rare thing, and a record of this quality and breadth of appeal is perhaps even rarer. effortlessly straddling the often tricky to navigate border between house and techno, it features one of the most hypnotically memorable vocals of the year courtesy of jei. already being championed by the likes of kerri chandler, dennis ferrer, seth troxler and even ricardo villalobos has ensured that all those loitering around the booths of dc10s closing party and fabrics birthday were enquiring of its story. now the story can begin to be told… for part two radio slave gets both sides of the record to render his unmistakable style and production qualities to the original parts. these versions are super heavy and intoxicating even by his standards. hand stamped white label pressing

matador is a dublin based dj,live performer and producer who has been releasing his own twisted but organic take on techno for the last four years. late last year came the huge kingswing ep on minus and now this spooks ep sees him step-up once again for a 5 track outing which balances his usual melody with a real techno drive. the title track opens proceedings with predatory, roughshod bass tone running underneath blippy melodies, snappy house influenced percussion and a dark male vocal where kenekt is all out sci-fi weirdness.spiralling space ships, undulating basslines and plenty of well-defined percussion all add up to a snaking track that really works its way under your skin.on the flip,b1 bambam is the most heads down and streamlined techno offering of them all before klay is the ep closer which manages to bend and drip little melodic droplets down the face of slinky hi-hats and deep,rolling basslines.

an electro hacktivist since the 90s, french techno pionneer, inventor of what became electro clash with miss kittin, true italo disco lover, legitimate son of dopplereffekt and kraftwerk and godfather of the new french sensation gesaffelstein with whom he runs the label zone. when michel amato (his real name) contacted us with a few tracks we felt so honored. he really got back to his roots here with deep italo and electro, warm analog synths against cold robotic drum machines, great melodies. it would have been a hit on the now defunct cbs radio.

label boss nic fanciulli makes his first appearance on the label for 2012 and presents a strong package which consists of 2 of his biggest remixes in recent years. first up on the a side is his take on radio slaves classic, >grindhouse<. the mix has been highlight of nics sets for the past 6 months and is a sure thing to be rocking many parties in the summer months to come. up on the b side is his remix of loco dices >definition< which also gets a release after a long and successful spell on the underground.

candy land is dj pi-ges first solo release from arpa records. it follows on from his previous collaboration with mathias kaden as unit mathi midori& pi-ge who released the konomama ep on raummusik the ep gained critical acclaim, especially for the inspiring remixes by reboot and maayan nidam. “candy land( original mix) - track one is a minimal track structured with profound bass, crunchy guitar samples and simple rhythm, peppered with minimalistic voice samples, it features a high impact breakdown. on the track 2 is a remix by christian burkhardt, one of the most remarkable producers at the moment and his tracks have been released various leading labels such as raum…musik, oslo, and cocoon to name a few. his remix fuses the characters of the original track with a unique new school rhythm and groove. on the 3rd track is deep and dark remix by dj sodeyama, label honcho of arpa records. this remix form an extended journey of over 10mins with a deep and dark introduction thats combined with experimental sounds as the track builds. all in all a great package for djs of deep house, tech house and techno.

having announced the expansion of the vibes & pepper brand into record label ownership in consummate style with a timely reissue of the seminal claude young & terrence parker ep the 4 play, the parisian operation now is proud to present the new school of bumping house talent in the shape of tomska. the belgian producer has been steadily cutting his production teeth over recent times, with a few select remixes and releases that showcase his love for the sounds of chicago and detroit, something that is explored with aplomb on the four track mental raw ep. from the opening bars of >lets get it on< tomska shows undeniable ease for combining emotive melodies with a crisp and contemporary treatment of rhythms, with the snapping >everynight< a particular highlight.

beatific uk producer matt cutler, aka lone, has been on a pretty excellent run in the past 18 months, he released the beautiful emerald fantasy tracks at the tail end of 2010, and followed it up with last years solid debut for r&s, the echolocations ep. on may 7, that label will release cutlers proper emerald follow-up, galaxy gardens, >crystal caverns 1991< is the first single. galaxy gardens will feature vocal contributions from machinedrum and anneka.

bill youngman has become one of the most important parts of the killekill family. his new record displays his wide range of interests: from dark techno in shadent he crosses over to drone monster alert in wespe to his very own style of melodic electro in centrumcircuit. about bill youngman: scandinavia, tresor, null etc., bill has from day one been producing a lot of excellent other stuff. for exam- ple, he released one album of the finest electronica on depth charge’s dc recordings under the alias audible, several great eps of electro on serotonin and recently remixed jamie lidell in a rather techy dubstep style for warp. bill doesnt follow trends and dislikes being categorized into one stale genre and so perfectly fits into the killekill master plan. expect several eps from him on killekill in the future. bill will furthermore attempt to push the threshold of modern electronic music production.

ostgut ton launches a sublabel that will feature remixes of tracks that have been released on the motherlabel ostgut ton, unterton will also release other ostgut ton related or befriended artists and one-off projects. the releases are presented as stamped white labels with track details only. tobias. makes the start of the remix series with two of the tracks from his >leaning over backwards< album, the a-side sees efdemin remixing the title track >leaning over backwards< and on the b-side ricardo villalobos and max loderbauer give >girts< the remix treatment.

it has been half a year since we released the last max cooper ep on traum, so his new finished ep comes in handy for all of his fans and people interested in the grey zone of techno vs. electronica. max coopers new release the >egomodal ep< comes as a 4 tracks ep and adds up to a great piece of music. once again it focuses on dynamics and tangents, along with the concept of complexity and simplicity. the >egomodal ep< stays true to max coopers approach to link a mathematical structure with a simple one. we are happy to say he has succeeded to fuse complexity with variations by still finding time to focus on details and keeping up that nice randomness which makes his music so appealing also for clubbers and djs.

originally recorded for chris blackwell of island records the rights of ‘life of contradiction’ were then given to joe higgs who released the album in jamaica and the u.k. in 1975. it was immediately obvious that this was a unique collection coming from a completely different direction to the other reggae releases of the period. although joe had first recorded some of the songs in the early sixties for studio one it was as if he was at last able to realise a vision of his own music that had previously been denied to him: either by financial constraints or from not having the right situation with the right musicians.

many prominent figures throughout history have proclaimed that you can get by with a little help from your friends now whilst this is a lovely romantic notion and does, we suppose have some (albeit very small) grounding in reality you need a bit more if you want to progress through life as opposed to simply jog in. zoo look are a good example of this, whilst sam, alex and craig have been friends for quite some time, forging their completely plutonic relationship through djing together, their latest release, number 11 on join the dots is forged from more than simply the burning fires of friendship, its born out of a love of all things deep as well as house music based. they may be mates but you can also get along very well if you have bags of talent too.

lisbons gala drop have been paving the way in recent years towards an aggregative, universionalist stance on the existentially groovy as a crucial vessel towards enlightenment and understanding amongst the human race. their music is an extremely transparent ongoing constellation of achievements, which transpires an enormous love of music as salvation, a progressive & deeply miscigenated conglomerate of obsessive empathy.

versa and rowl are names that have been kicking about for some time now and those who have had there ear to the ground know that these boys are about to blow! all 3 tracks are just stunning. >lunar< is a rhodes journey into 2 step heaven with a serious low end. then >zoidiac< takes it to a 170bpm, but still keeps a soulful vibe that is a delight on the ears. last up, but by no means least is >warewolf< that is currently being championed by mary ann hobbs. other support includes phaeleh, skream, chefal, synkro, indigo and too many more to mention! smokin sessions deliver once again

masami akita and lasse marhaug have been working together since the mid 90ies. the first release on marhaugs (now deleted) label jazzassin records in 1995 was the >first rock< split single. in 2001 merzbow and jazzkammer (marhaugs project with john hegre) released a live album. later, akita and marhaug executed several live collaborations, but often with other artists such as hair stylistics and jim o rourke. in 2010 they finally got together to record as duo. recorded at gok sound studios in tokyo the results can now be heard as >mer mar<.
made using a combination of scrap metal screeching, analogue synths, and enough effect pedals to give you overweight with most airline companies, >mer mar< is a tour de force for both of these noise veterans, hinting to some classic 80s merzbow jams such as material action.

karat is delighted with this new single by seuil. we have been watching this guy attentively in his progression and we are glad to finally find him on karat while his production skills have reached a ripe condition. we guess his rise has just begun so watch him carefully in the near future. the two tracks of the record, in different ways, are close to karats spirit, deep, funkyand abstract enough to be used as a floorfiller or at home for a precise listening.

if you have been following graeme clark in his solo disguise as the revenge or the stream of 6th borough project 12-inches leading up to this one, you should know what to expect here—deep, blissfully hypnotic sampledelia with track flows governed by the laws of extreme repetition. its a shame that trance means a particular subgenre of electronic music, because that term applies just as much to the effects of these tracks as anything tiësto has ever played.
given the space, clark and craig smith are able to utilize this formula over a broad musical spectrum, creating music in the full-fledged sense, one that traces a landscape of tempos, styles and emotions and a menagerie of resurrected sounds conjures up images of dusty record shops and tattered vinyl, musical spirits captured on wax. awesome!

the swizz house maestro who delivered last years miami monster likewise returns with a stunning two track 12 inch thats already been turning heads and sending many beards a scratching... dove is a beautiful piece of jazz house with afro roots and one hell of a groove. on the flip is >if u so< which will appeal to fans of cadenza.. hint hint ! disco tool house...or tip as they might say in berlin
