next up on our album manoeuvres we head back up to sheffield. hiem are back with their 3rd album, the galactic cornucopia that is hotspace. it is a fine follow up to the 2013 escape from division street released here on nang. hiem consist of dynamic duo of nick eastwood & bozzwell (he was the live vocalist for -the all seeing i- who scored a worldwide hit with the beat goes on in 1998). we have always thought of hiem as one part grown-up dance pop, one part fine 80 s tinged songs and one part slightly weird and quirky. the third album doesn t disappoint managing to cram all those descriptions (and more) across ten fine songs.

as a follow up to the last years >radio anatomy< we are excited to present the >last day here ep< by brioski. it is a stellar effort from the talented italian and we are all feeling that he has really come into his own with this one. brioskis inspiration spans hiphop, funk, soul, disco, chicago house & techno, edging towards balearic / psychedelic atmospheres with deep percussive roots and old-school tendencies. combine this with some italian originality and a love for vintage gear and you are halfway there.

next up on nang, we have the long awaited full-length from nu-disco hero and synth aficionado, andy meecham. the release sees meecham step away from his revered emperor machine monkier to create something conceptual and truly visceral, yet still retaining those signature grooves and rich tones we all know and love. the aptly titled monophonic volume 1 is a synth purists dream. each track has been crafted on a single classic synthesizer (and named after it!), giving each piece its own identity and sense of time and place, referencing landmark moments in the history of music technology from the east and west

after a handful of smashing remixes and compilation features on nang records, lusty zanzibar returns to the fold with a cracking solo effort named the >the feeling ep.< title track is a spaced out exercise in immersive square-wave programming, reminiscent of the pre-internet computer gaming age when colours were 8-bit and vivid, and soundtracks were hyper-colour opuses. the complex synth work is underpinned by a driving beat with ethereal vocal wisps and crystalline pads. nice. the first of three remixes for >the feeling< comes from ilya santana, with his >celestial version<, and celestial it is indeed! a picturesque scene is set, the rhythm is wound back and a super laid back vibe allows the vocal line >remember how you are feeling< to sit more purposefully in the mix, alongside the tip-toeing bass line and often euphoric chords. up next comes the max essa dub version, introducing some arp-synth subtleties, replacing the main vocal hook to great effect. to finish we have a mix from fear of theydon who brings a touch of arpeggiated femininity and tasteful woodblock percussion to the table. its a fulfilling yet sultry up-beat journey.

nang golden-child sare havlicek and bostonian chaz bronz make up the menacingly titled >transatlantic disco alliance<. no, it is not a military organization designed to perpetuate neo-imperialst ideals - its a big ol love-in for 80s tinged soulful disco tunes!

following up their brazen debut on nang in 2010 ibiza lord, pete gooding and chill capitano chris coco return with their follow up. this time they have enlisted the silky vocals of peter coyle, best known as the voice of liverpool based lotus eaters who made the amazing >first picture of you< in the early 80s. >believe< turns down the bpm quotient a few notches and sets the destinations for balearic.

we are pleased to announce that one of our favourite producers justus köhncke has finally given in to the constant barrage of requests to work with us. yes, welcome to the rank of nang cosmonauts justus. he has kindly agreed to work on a new artist album for us for release in late 2011 / 2012 but in the time being we just had to pop the mans cherry and get some köhncke-tunage released on nang.
first up is an ep of two brand new compositions. fussmachine and renewal. we have also included a remix and wrapped it all into the fussmachine ep.

after the superb best of chaz jankel on their sister label tirk last year, nang are grinning ear to ear for the second release with some top flight remixes featuring big names all the way. first up is rekids regular toby tobias and the slick discoid grooving interpretation of call me. fresh from the success of their final electric chair comp the unabombers weigh in with their bouncy walking bass take on one of 2007s top disco tunes get myself together. to round things off a 3rd big name diesel from xpress 2 chills things out and delivers his stripped down after hours version. nang is out of the gates and running folks.

next up on nang we-re honoured to introduce -2am- the new ep by sheffield scenester producers hiem along with another of the cities finest fellows- phil oakey of the human league. the original track is a synth pop powerhouse about those twilight club nights that you never wanted to end- complete with a epic guitar solo- computer blips and glistening synth rushes. oakey is as accomplished as ever- bringing his signature tones to full effect and it-s nothing short of sensational. to accompany- we-ve enlisted the skills of four producers to give us some cracking remixes. fernando and toomy disco are first up- and they ramp up the tempo and vibe for a loose -n- live rework that-s perfect for the dance floor. hiem themselves give it a go with his -1984 rework- bringing 80-s power drums- van halen solos and some atmospheric subtleties to the table. nang-s italian uber-cool-cat brioski steps up next giving us the italian angle with a brilliant walking bassline and luscious wide mix. the heels of love bring us frivolous percussion and stomping disco beats layered between emosh pads and slick keys. ace. to finish- our good friends free school take things down a notch for a beautiful leftfield excursion that only they could pull off.

russian cool cat sportloto (aka andrey rublev) is making quite a name for himself in the remix realm. he comes from the western urals and makes some of the most splendid electronic music around.the title track >will i< started out as an instrumental on our sister labels tirk03 sampler.after bags of attention and plaudits we decided to nudge things into vocal-drive and add a nifty vocal.michelle bee ably assists with a smouldering and sultry tones. if chord movements and darting electronic lines and arpeggios are your thing then you will love the original.on the remix tip fabrizio mamarella (1/3 of clap rules and bearfunk big dog) chips in with the remix.he takes the organic analog route and trims things down nicely for the dance floor.to round off the package and give an enticing glimpse into the cool production skills of andrey,weve also included the track metamorphosis.andrey is busy at work on his debut album for nang as we speak!stay tuned.

nang powerhouse sare havlicek bursts back into the synth-scape once more with the first track from his second nang album. sare is a firm favourite here in nang towers and the mercurial, slovenian dynamo has hardly stopped for breath since his last releases on nang (a well deserved new masters comp, a co-mix credit on beach disco and also as part of the transatlantic disco alliance ep). to remix vibe on you nang have called in the talents of fellow adriatic funkster ilija rudman, who places his seal-of-authority on the sonics and gets brassed up. uk based head of bear funk stevie kotey pairs up with this lightning-fingered-keyboard neighbour manestar to create a cool cross between haddaway & ten city. sare contributes an instrumental and a slowed down, pitch-bent, 115 bpm version. his slyly retiled nothing you can do version jumps forward 4 years to 1985, sounding like a long lost stock-aitken and waterman extended 12 dance cut. stay tuned for sare album number 2 later in the year. weve heard it.. its a goodie.

the title track >radio anatomy< is a synth-laden italo monster, serious dance-floor material. detuned pads fizz under an arp and walking bass, caving in to a tear-away synth lead that pumps the tune into overdrive. the groove has a pace to it and sits on top of the beat and all surrounding articulation and effects keep things interesting.
on the flip we have got a serious remix from none other than emperor machine. this guy has been unstoppable in the remix department for some time, and it doesnt look like he will be faltering anytime soon! we are initiated with brioskis fantastic original bass and pad sequence, but in typical e.m. fashion the build up is sustained and full of suspense. haunting vocal chants ensue before the bass drops and the funk kicks in. what a drop! the switches are clever, the instrumentation is solid and the vibe is out of this world. brioski - >radio anatomy is an unforgiving italo dance-floor release, with help from one of nangs finer contributors.

nang dives straight into the ibiza spirit with the second volume of their infamous beach disco compilation, in anticipation of this years holiday season. sun, sea sand and laid-back vibes are aplenty with this lean selection of sun kissed disco, mixed to perfection live by the slovenian masters sare hevlicek and ichisan.

milan based heels of love is made up of luca saponaro (from krautrock-disco hybrids the love supreme) and michele tessadri (aka fratelli riviera). the pair create incredible 80s tinged, earthy, synthesized music with healthy dose of real instrumentation. after the much praised single -chain gang on nang last year, and some key releases on mad on the moon and under the shade labels, we are pleased to welcome the heels of love back for their first album and second release on nang this july. after the syncopated clap rhythms and dubbed out keyboards of album opener -cosmos, the album takes you on a ride through classic grooves reinvigorated with the heels trademark sound, spaced out synths riffs, and the occasional downright-dirty bass line. leading through the up-tempo vocal of max essa on -chain gang, you reach the woozy halftime jams in -blue gitanes, onto the stark funk of dark esquires vocal featuring on -the beat, finishing up on the classy synth joint -flight 707.

proper heat slid onto the nangsphere last year with their nifty >we are ready< ep. they certainly were… good reception all around and some fine plaudits. fast forward on 6 months and we are really pleased that the follow up >move ep< hits the streets. proper heat are from lithuania and are made up of martin virgin, saxtone and some fine vocals from karolis ramoska. laid-back, accessible disco house is the order of the day with this ep. we have two finely voiced tracks. dulcet tones and catchy songs abound with karolis doing a fine job in the voice department. lead track >the move” is mid tempo groover. mixes from nang label new-long-found-friend james bright and label stalwart (and supertop photographer) ichisan… you are always a subject when you are in the same room as this guy…. snap snap snap. james grooves it up with tight synthy bass and ichisan gets electronic and rolling. you can check out the video for >the move< on youtube and our home page too. the equally able >get ready< also makes a strerling appearance on the ep. another fine disco groovoid song. all in all the package overflows with extra dubs and instrumentals. bountiful disco abounds.

set time-dials to 2011 and engage. here we have two slick, italian producers bottin and rodion, they both may have (professionally) lost their first name, but they sure both make up for that with their italian style and extra analog-burbleness. their original vocoder nugget and dub both feature on the vinyl. for remix action we teleport over to argentina where toomy disco (a pretty spacey name already) delivers us some remix action. slick grooves, flowing bass guitar and more shine than a sparkly new saturn 5.

gravitating into the nang tractor-beam next is a brand new artist, no logo. for big dogs pete gooding and steve miller to consider us for putting out their eclectic project is an honour indeed. ibiza and london based pete gooding is a dj tour-de-force and his pairing with one of chill outs leading lights steve miller (afterlife, lux, northern lights etc) was always gonna be an interesting one. the dancefloor acumen of pete with the downtempo-grooves and all around musicality from steve.

three quality disco cuts from the ever reliable nang label!!

the most favourite of italian producers, bottin, returns with an old project. tinpong is a collaboration between bottin and swiss singer joy freypong. these tasty masters were just gathering dust on an old hard disc in venice but when we heard them we just had to get these gems out there.
the first of the tinpong material is a cover version of a duran duran classic. set dials to 1982, >new religion< is of course one of the standout tracks from the classic >rio< album.

next up on nang we get tooled up with our disco pick-axe to mine one of the most authentic italo vaults, that of once-forgotten-but-now-hero-again beppe loda. having begun djing in brescia aged 16, loda was resident at gambaras soon to be legendary typhoon club from 1980 until the club closed in the same year as the paradise garage, a year before acid house officially began in 1987.

its been 18 months since our first nang release, d-pulses >more<. nestled on that release was an extra ep track called >highway to saturn<. much to our delight it turned out to be a bit of a gem. when it featured on the tirk 02 and kitsune ponystep / jerry bouthier compilations we knew we were all onto something. (cue the overdrive and the interstellar vocal.) slovenian-based, us singer, hannah mancini, provides those cosmic vocals, ably recorded by sare havlicek in sunny ljubljan. after a sly re-titling of the track (to avoid confusion with the original the name has been extended to >on a highway to saturn<) its on to the obligatory over-the-top nang remix package...first up is a new version from d-pulse for those long summer nights. their >australian shore reversion< mix slows down the groove to a balmy evening by noosa shores pace. space-rock, guitar solos, smouldering synths and lazy rhythms all combine to make this one for the beach house. sare havlicek adds a couple of mixes of his own. keeping things hi-energy he goes for the disco jugular with his trademark stabby synths and tight production. nang newcomers, proper heat, strip things back and go for a slow-grooving baltic-disco chugger. rounding off the remix package is japanese based jan ken po (aka max essa). he delivers a dance floor friendly version with a big and bold walking bass riff and tasteful synths

next up on nang is a single from two djs with a self-confessed chequered history. a determinedly eclectic djing style and a friendship started behind the decks at mambo in ibiza one summer evening and continued through nights spinning together at stella polaris and roskilde in denmark and bestival in the isle of wight.

amongst musicians, filmmaker john carpenter receives admiration, respect and kudos like few others. aside from the string of great films he has directed (halloween, escape from new york, dark star to name but a few) he is one of the few directors to compose and record the music for the films he makes.
back in late summer 2009 we sent out an email to our producer pals asking if they wanted to submit cover versions for an upcoming sci-fi cover versions cd project the response was very pleasing. of all the tracks through the door, john carpenter covers were by far the most prevalent. the best of them made it to this vinyl release.

we re not sure if theres been a whole lot of russian vocal led synthy disco around of late / ever, but we definitely like the idea of it. and so we have the first release on the brand new tirk affiliated label nang. d pulses sound is a sonic cocktail that represents the different flavours of its ingredients. great for dancing, as well as regular home listening, making love or preferably cooking. you can call it russian house, full of spirit, soul and its own philosophy. now on to the tunes. the foto mix of more combines cold robo synth bass and stripped back rhythms with the haunting tale of love, loss and the ultimate fulitility of existence (probably). the original mix lives up to the live jam side to the d pulse manifesto with organic funk and jazzy chops leading the way. fellow russian alcos coolkas carries on where his new work on tirk left off, with simple but sparkling and sophisticated electronics working away with snippets of the vocal to mesmerising effect. the package rounds off with the spacey, warm, instrumental highway to saturn. nang has launched!

the mexican collective future feelings is made up of fernando dimare, juan soto (an existing nang warrior), thomass jackson and dan solo. the talented bunch make accessible dance tunes which are easily at home on the floor or for listening too. after a string of festivals and appearances in south america and a slew of remixes (for artists such as lindstrom, donna summer, goldroom, treasure fingers and the knocks) we are pleased to be releasing their debut album on nang.

love and money front man james grant has collaborated with producer gordy goudie to form the korvids, releasing a dance album. for the older generation who might want to bust a move once more in honour of their younger selves. james says, i wanted to be someone else for a while. sound different. write different. it can be dreary being me all the time..i sing most of my vocals on the record in falsetto, which, as we know, is the international language of disco. the korvids marry their love of disco and 70 s funk with influences such as deodato, massive attack, miles and anything else that takes their fancy. after the success of their debut release beach coma, which was picked up by sirius us radio and remixed by balaeric legend jose padilla, the duo released bad faith, a beauteous cut of late 70 s disco remixed by love & money and steely dan s producer gary katz. james was the front man for love and money, everyone s favourite band from the 1980 s who should have been massive but somehow werent. the other half of the korvids, gordy goudie, is also no stranger to the business having produced simple minds and playing bass and guitar for the primevals and echo and the bunnymen.
