italian arcade electro superstars mat 101 are back with this lp of lost recordings from the vaults on cyber dance records. back in the late 90s when electro was first being resurrected and transformed into a more european dark psychedelic style mat 101 were at the forefront of the revolution, taking inspiration from the pure electro sounds of the arcade games of their youth and representing the classic italian sound in new and unexpectedly brilliant ways. their legacy was immense, spawning jollymusic, pigna people, raiders of the lost arp and francisco (among many other projects) and inspiring subsequent generations of electro wannabes with how to do it properly ever since.
tommy walker 3 has been hiding for a while now, after releasing a slew of material in 2008 (including a release on the sadly defunct dissident). now hes back with >dance music clubbing<, and with a name like this youd probably expect this ep to either be a bit off the wall, or unintentionally awful. we are glad to say it fits into the former category, offering an ep of colourful elastic space disco mixed with a more classic vibe. opener >disconnected< sets the tone with its 80s, verging on hair metal guitar riffs. >mwj1< impresses with its almost seinfeld-esque slap bass, and synth piano stabs while >errational< is characterised by its wonky synth melody and spaced-out laser gurgles. finally >v brains< melds driving live bass with huge slabs of cosmic squelch. if you like your disco fierce, this will definitely be worth a look
madrids synth alien returns with a fresh ep out on cyber dance records entitled *stellar walker* that shows off his spaced-out and italofied influences in just the manner we have now come to expect from that label - slow-motion chugging synth workouts that are rich in atmosphere, confident in pace and arrangement and most importantly jam-packed with heavy riffing and piercing melodies from start to finish.
legendary finnish electro pioneers mr velcro fastener return after a very long absence with this long-awaited and much-anticipated ep on cyber dance records. full of the same funked-out, quirky and fresh futuristic sounds that brought them instant recognition in the 90s electro underground the tku ep sounds like the innovative duo never went away, effortlessly picking up where they left off. brinkkala opens proceedings with their classic signature brand of detroit-meets-finland robotic funk jamming, while the next track bridge over nothing delivers harder and punchier rhythms deftly topped with layers of spaced-out chords and shimmering noises - and a relentless bassline that builds and progresses the grooves to alien dimensions of sheer electro brilliance. the sonic assault continues on side b with ologrammed , a pulsating monster of a track that pushes the velcro fastener sound into ethereal realms that evoke the likes of technasia or the hacker in their mid-90s heyday. the ep closes with johnny s wood , a funked-up, jazzed-out and upbeat adventure over-brimming with robotic positivity and electronic optimism. copies are limited of this essential purchase for die-hard electro connoisseurs everywhere, so don t be slow as they re sure to go!
cyber dance records are back on the attack with a fresh release from the legendary perseus traxx aka nigel rogers, a 4-track ep entitled after recent scientific developments an apparent horizon . its a firmly machine-based and totally jam-packed affair reflecting diverse sounds from the uk s own rich history of electronic dance music, with elements from the classic warp -deep space sound- prominent as much as the more usual 303-jacking acid house grooves in the vein of baby ford or bam bam. lost dreams opens the record with a floaty dream-like hipnosis from the depths of space and sets the tone in magnificent style, followed up on side a with the irresistible roll of reverse the trend that takes the groove harder, further and deeperstraight off to the beyond. dark strings reminiscent of old lfo, b-12 or autechre vinyls from the early 90s propel us into side b on darkness stalks , and then we re transported onto the concluding track on the ep, distances , an epic closer that opens with beautiful reverbed claps and acid squelches before diving into an inky black void of timeless space-travelling and slow-building tension that could surely echo hauntingly around any m25 rave in the depths of a late 1980s night.
cyber dance records return with a full-length double-vinyl album from manchesters kid machine (aka mark wilkinson) following a string of instantly sold-out eps for viewlexx, red laser and flight recorder. a long-time collaborator of world-famous italo disco dj flemming dalum, it is no surprise that many of the tracks have that hallmark space sound reminiscent of the likes of cyber people and koto, but mark stamps his own distinct identity on the genre by slowing down the bpms and incorporating many other influences throughout so that this is no retro affair but a distinctly fresh and modern take on the genre.
considered by those in the know to be one of the founding fathers of dutch electronic music, rick van breugel makes returns to his rare electrick dragon alias for a superlative debut on the cyber dance imprint with space connection. hardly the most prolific of labels, cyber dance releases are invariably italo disco worthy of your attention and the three tracks here ensure this status quo remains! tough and rough, >night with you< finds room amidst the flexed drums and thick arpeggiated groove to drop some romantic italo vibes for the lovers out there, whilst some sort of odd laser fx on the two adds that extra degree of individuality to the gleefully effervescent exercise in constantly building joy that is the title track. final track >soon as the stars< is a production that could only have emerged from the lowlands, the ever present outer galactic synth work and subtle yet intricate tape saturated percussion complemented by key lines that spiral in and out of focus with hypnotic intent.
transmissions from the cyber dance imprint have been sporadic since its inception in 2005, but when they arrive they are always something very special indeed. ostensibly one of italo discos great lost producers, we suspect that bandidos gang may well be a nom de plume for one of the labels many associates. whatever their provenance, the tracks certainly sound like vintage italo, with >marinche< leading with a pulsating bass arpeggio and synth horn melody worthy of moroder, whilst the flemming dalum & steen gjerulff remix adds layers of vocoder and a variety of cosmic accents to its sturdy frame. >last train to tucamari< meanwhile takes a more languid approach, pulling in an opposite direction to the speeding train samples, whilst flemming dalum & mike saltas remix adds some guitar licks, hazy synth atmospherics and even a flute solo which just adds to the classic italo feel.
cyber dance records are proud to present their first album release >messages from the void vol. 2<. after six years of gaining a worthy reputation for only releasing the finest material from up and coming electronic artists such as andy romano, matzo & pauli, mark du mosch, brassica, ali renault and many more they finally showcase on double-vinyl and cd a compilation that confidently re-defines the sound of the label in more exciting and varied directions at once than ever before. consisting of eleven tracks that range from electro to synth-pop and from italo to disco-funk, the album features contributions from cyber dance regulars like mark du mosch, ali renault and tommy walker 3 alongside tracks from emerging artists like bill ambrose, brassica, meschi and serious lover and also the more mysterious night system and martin aston.
rotterdams legendary discohouse producer mark du mosch presents his debut release for cyber dance records in the shape of the cold sweat ep. consisting of five outstanding tracks that take us from the near italo disco bliss of now or never to the classic dutch lo fi electro sounds of revenger, on to the searing intensity of the system and the title track then rounded off beautifully with the deep chi house vibes of satical, this is not an ep to be missed. already getting rotation plays on intergalactic fm and called by moustache label impresario david vunk one of the best techno records of the year, we cant speak highly enough of this totally rocking record.
cyber dance records unleash their fifth record entitled somewhere out on the nightside. the ep consists of four tracks introducing a new batch of artists to the cyber dance cartel, brassica, serious lover, bill ambrose and melanie houston. brassica is the music of hackney bedroom producer michael anthony wright. hes had a couple of records on dissident and has a few more lined up for some other quite well-known labels over the next year. ballo dei morti was conceived one dark christmas day in milan and features the chorus of slayers dead skin mask vocoded in italian. the track has been eagerly awaited on vinyl after several months of attention through blogs such as 20 jazz funk greats and vice magazines music blog. serious lover is the brain-child of london based producer sam ryan who fuses electro-soul influences of early jam and lewis production with a more modern, harder sound, employing vintage synths and archaic drum machines in the studio and electronic musicians for the full live show. bill ambrose has been producing music on his collection of vintage synths and drum machines for over a decade, working behind the scenes as a producer or engineer on several releases. he wrote paranoid specifically for cyber dance earlier this year. melanie houston is a dj, musician and producer from london with a passion for dark, emotional music and a previous history in berlin where she djd and contributed music for the cult techno label tresor. with influences incorporating everything from avant-garde electronics to 80s synth pop, melanies as renowned for her skills on the turntables in the mix as for her abilities in the studio.
the cyber dance team that is casionova, spruxx and ali renault bring you their second long awaited ep >messages from the void<. casionova sets the tone with >the visionary< a monster italo riff that jacks like a beast. alis human shield cohort tommy walker 3 supplies >triangle<, a simply genius epic track that has already set dance floors ablaze in nightclubs all over europe. on the flip are two tracks by ali renault. >zombie raffle< gets a beautiful revenge make over from mr. pauli with his signature italo funk sound to great effect and lastly >dx styalize< finishes the ep with a brutal goodbye. totally worth the wait, this is an absolute killer ep!!!
this is the debuet album of dj and producer ali renault! its a nice blend of italo, cosmic, electro, synth pop, disco and house. guest vocals come from marika gauci of london electro-pop duo hotel motel and the so-called -voice of italo- fred ventura.
