hardly a rookie these days – perhaps more of an intrinsic part of the great british renaissance and current techno climate, tom dicicco brings his new label run out run to the table with a superb 1st release. treading a more layered path than on his previous outings, tom shows his teeth here with brilliantly creeping, menacing riffs at the fore while retaining the house and dub sensibilities in the rhythm section that have already gained him much support – certainly something for everybody here on this worryingly confident own label debut!

thinking outside the box is something we appreciate a lot here at the office, especially when its done in such an outstanding manner as on this record.

droid recordings presents a new 12 inch from dj hyperactive, whose jacking chicago sound has evolved over the years into a deeper sound that maintains his signature infectious drive. on 25 hours, an undulating, bassy synth line builds into the machine-voiced partiers dream of 25 hours in a day, before the track takes off with neck-breaking snare and clap combos and proceeds to rebuild. raíz pulls the track from the depths to deliver something more brash and energetic. there is more at play here, with the 3-note riff tweaked throug the tracks duration, and the words 25 looped through a series of insistent, smashing snares. in the final mix, newcomer markus suckut follows his recent remixes of xhin and pfirter with an unexpected and idiosyncratic interpretation. tonal elements are drawn into the lower registers, while the vocal sample slithers around the mix. the syncopated elements of the original surface with in an alternative mode, dark and driving.

out of the ether comes something special. how did dopeus get so good while remaining almost unnoticed? sometimes it goes like that. with only a handful of tracks released, including i left my soul on planet dopeus on nite grooves darkness part 2, this is ny resident naotake gunjis first major release yet he comes on like hes been chiseling away at his sound for years. out of nowhere comes the getaway ep. its house music but its much more than that. check!

you know you are ready for something special when lord umek comes up with a one-tracker, and even the title on this one lets you know you are in for a manic ride. sly bass sets the tone, under the tightly-wound rhythm section and flashy stabs make way for a cheeky vocal that takes the lead role. the busy drum edits keep the adrenaline levels high at all times and yet another page is written in production history, with umeks trademarked sound.

enzinos is a little new label from a little old guy. every enzinos release consists of a few tracks: classic techno/house re-edits and one lucky - dip. whether you are new to the scene or an old hand, you should find something to play with, as enzinos gives old favourites a new twist. dont let partying lead to paranoia, take it easy with a re-edit.

1nce again is back, this time with the first single in a double package! this is the first of two 12 inches containing one of our absolute favourite tracks from prolific producer ken duke aka dj duke. closer was orginally released back in 1994 on dukes power music records and the amazing klubb kidz mixes quickly found its way into many djs record bags, including label boss mad mats who rates the flava dub as one of his favourite deep house cuts of all time. if u ever heard mats spinning a house set chances are big you have heard this mix blasted loud! first up for remixes duties this time is mark seven, parkway/parkwest label owner, a true djs dj, a passionate music lover and record collector extrodinare. the so close mix of closer is deep house at its finest, an homage to the classic prescription sound keeping it ultimately atmospheric. the stalker mix continues on the same vibe yet develops into something more meaty and pumping during its course. together with the original klubb kidz flava dub and the mark seven mixes this release got everything a true deep house head needs.

the first release from under bron recordings highlights a firm and direct feeling, like being seduced and sharing something personal with somebody new, the a side showcasing a mixture of dialogue and trust. keeping a steady house groove and pace, sounds in the grass inspires the dust from the ceiling at your local warehouse to come down to the ground again, while waiting to exhale turns to the conversationalists standing by the bar or on the outskirts of the dance floor. delroy edwards (l.i.e.s.) remix on the b-side expands the wrd horizon and brings in a different blueprint, where swirling sounds combines the track into a beautiful palette of youth and decay

the label bond is the brainchild of swedish techno dj and producer petter b. the concept of the label is music by djs for djs. the label focuses on releasing tracks that enable the dj rather than the producer to be creative. it is based on that special bond which is created every time a dj combines tracks, loops and sounds live into something new and unique.

heartically dubwise, rugged and raw essays in classic grime, uk garage and dubstep from a new london-berlin collaboration, with stuff like horsepowers in fine style galloping through its nervous system.
a three-tracker to kick the label off, on 180g vinyl: the opener engrains snatches of melody into a percussive firefight, like something from the actress war-chest, the outstanding, elemental, stop-start jack the dub is more bristolian, from the peverelist suit of trumps, monkey is out and impressionistic.

after a long break superfancy is back with a nice 4 tracker by ueberdisco. incl. funkwerkstatt meets schaeufler & zovsky & neurotron remixes. with warm chords, lots of reverbs and grooving beats this ep is something very special.

derek kaye married his schoolboy passions of music and electronics in 1973 when he constructed his first disco sound system, aged just 13. prior to this, with dj equipment something of a rarity in those days, he created a custom setup that bypassed the need for a mixer by rewiring his turntables in such a way that he could flip the sound from one deck to another, and installed a switch that would dip the music so a microphone from a portable cassette player could be used to announce the song on rotation. his work soon grew in sophistication and a new console was built, with his schoolmate, greg wilson, buying derek s old rig, thus beginning his own well-documented dj career.

a side with trippy techhouse vibes and b side comes with an outstanding bouncing acid house killer. halla lada, the debute ep from fulast, is a symbolic expression as well as a figure of speech of doing something inappropriate or just being loud. halla lada is a two track vinyl, pumping house with elements of acid.

california analog dream is the new single taken from the vondelpark debut album seabed. tracing the sonic history of the song from initially being a highlight on the bands debut ep sauna to inclusion on the debut full-length, feels like uncovering the story of the band that produced it. on the songs initial version rainsburys voice kept you at arms length. on seabed his vocal take draws you in, feeling magnetic and intense. it is on this song in particular that you can really mark the changes that vondelpark have been through over the past 18 months of recording. rainsbury describes seabed as a coming of age record, and that is something that could just as easily apply to the impressive transformation vondelpark have made during its conception. on remix duties is fellow r&s artist bullion who always delivers the goods with his remixes and productions, on this mix he seems to be channeling a funky lower east side new york vibe, circa 1979. next up are dfa artists factory floor who deliver a signature industrial acid workout perfect for the dancefloor. pressing on white vinyl.

at times painfully raw, at others wonderfully mischevious, this is the record to confirm aquarius heaven as a project that transcends the formulas of electronic music to become something that reaches beyond the dancefloor.

diamond version craft music that is somehow simultaneously futuristic and archaic. on the surface, its static effervescence and mechanistic precision evoke the march of technology and the sinister detachment of late capitalist society. but it affects listeners on a more instinctive level, interfacing directly with the nervous system and rendering the polyphonic chatter of the bodys impulses crisp and cold. there is something oddly permanent about they rhythms they unearth, as though theyare simply tapping into a deeper pulse that has always been present within their circuitry. diamond version is a collaborative project between two of the most groundbreaking, experimental and forward thinking operators in modern music, olaf bender and carsten nicolai. as joint heads of the berlin-based label raster-noton and with solo projects alva noto (nicolai) and byetone (bender), for over a decade they have been releasing work that spectacularly blurs the lines between the visceral and the conceptual, bridging the gap between gallery and dancefloor. diamond version release the latest instalment in their series of eps leading up to an album in summer 2013.

after last years dystopic debut, super strength ep, rising parisian cedric bros aka marcelus returns to tresor with something a little more deep and shiny in emerald. once again marcelus conjures up the spirits of detroit and berlin techno, moulding them here into dreamy modern house incantations-an inspired blurring of the lines the well-versed frenchman has been rehearsing over the last decade.

i had dinner with breach in london and he told me: hey, i have a track that is really dirtybird. i would put it out but its really sounding right for you guys. i took this with a grain of salt but then i heard lets get hot and i found out he was right. it has got the swagger and the sound. it makes girls grind their asses into boys crotches on the dancefloor. perfect. signed. so i then asked him to make something even more sexual, thinking it would be ages before i got something back. 10 days later the a-side came back to me as a 2 minute clip while i was on the train to warehouse project in manchester. i liked it so much that i edited it on the train to stretch it out to 5 minute. as expected, it slayed the room and the final version breach has delivered is one of the best records of the year in my opinion. with the simple title of jack you can see for yourself when you play it. this is the real deal. love, vonstroke

having recently relocated to london, urulu & chaos in the cbd join forces for needwants next stellar release. sharing the same musical passion and vision, yet each holding distinct style and influences, they were able to come together and deliver something really special. a combination of four deep, diverse cuts where old school meets the new school.

the latest emotional response release provides something very special indeed, in the form of a new track from under the radar psychedelic rock musician nick nicely. nicely has been making music from the 70s onwards, but his music has recently undergone something of a critical reappraisal, with the likes of robert wyatt and robyn hitchcock supposedly inspired by his work, wrottersley road provides the ideal entry into his music, a masterful piece of shoegaze pop filled with fuzzed out guitars and eastern psychedelic tones. remixes are provided by invisible hands, who provide a minimal 80s inspired electro-pop version, which comes saturated in radiophonic textures, and the oscillation, who take the track into even more abstract ambient territory than the original, deep into a place where time seems to stand still entirely, drawing its rich textures out into infinity.

after the killer release by marco shuttle vidd is back after a long silence with their 2nd release. a special release from somebody who has done a lot in a very short time: gw from stockholm. surrounded by mystery and simplicity, hurry up demonstrates both power and heft with few elements. the driving force builds a tension which really doesnt reach a peak, something that the locked groove vocal manages to balance perfectly. the energy is constant and keeps things interesting. the b-side starts off with runaway, a chicago-resembling funk track that reflects the 90s tradition and the new digital age. tonight closes the doors of this release and the closing lights come on, it is time to go home.

a double ep release from the classic music company, mixing together friends old and new from the label. recent signings to classic, no dial tone deliver their second original production to the imprint - standing still – a deep slow burning almost bjork-esq vocal record kicks off the a side. long time label cohort from the early bar rumba days, mathew herbert twists and turns the record into something completely herbert and ultimately classic in its make up. on the flip…long-time greenskeepers man james curd returns to classic with nothing short of a bump! gentle help is typical curd funk and now with added black madonna flavours. road tested relentlessly at the smart bar, the chicago native channels the essence of old dance mania records and funnels it into something typically a little left of centre. each track is uniquely different and recognisably classic.

from the tropics comes whiskey disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius from latent disco perpetrators. its loosely connected to sleazy mcqueen and his assorted cohorts. whiskey disco #18, cut me gently by beard in dust comes from behind the iron curtain. on a recent tour of russia, sleazy mcqueen had the fortune of meeting a friendly moscovite with an excellent selection of re-edits gathering dust on the hard drive. from the stab- centric *it shouldnt work, but it does* re-edit of grapevine to the cosmic groover, revolution in morder, the straight up boogie of highest mountain and the laidback ease of cant get enough-- more than most, this really does offer something for all (groovy) dancefloors.

on the fourth unterton release the black dog present a new sound somewhere between house and techno that the black dog call darkhaus. the original version of * council flat emptiness* is an infectious, futuristic, disco-tinged version of a progressive dancefloor workout bathed in strings, mellow melancholia and heavy bass. this is preceeded by a straight to the point stripped down version that multiplies the hypnotic elements of the original. on the b-side a 9-minute-30-something remix from luke slaters l.b.dub corp project drives the original into classic slater territory where techno and groove marry and electrify each other.

finally, a new, true doering, whose other name dirty is something of a fake-out: >i would< captivates the listener with clean, maximum minimal beauty, in typical doering style. the melodies swing gentle as a cradle, the beats take effect in a supporting role and the vocals, though sparsely deployed, complete the demand for inner harmony. the elements combine to create a languorous, warm feeling around the heart û a flawless hit.

we never forget our roots here at idle hands. for people of a certain age the wild experiments of jungle and dnb remain close to our hearts. whilst scenes, sounds and trends may wax and wane that visceral feeling of chest rattling bass is something we hold on to. rhythmic theory is one producer who like us, never forgot. here we present two tunes deeply indebted to those times. it must be stated though, you will not find any amen breaks or ragga samples here, instead, this up and coming bristol producer transposes the atmospheres and deadly subs to a techno template. *legacy of the lost* and *riveted* follow on from two well received vinyl only release on brstl and his own self titled label. both tracks are immaculately crafted hardware jams that are designed solely with sound system use in mind.

the ukrainian techno heads gather all their experience and mix their visions on this unique collaborative ep. what we have got on the output is something unique called mutual exceptions.

the unifying atmosphere of the latest prruk 12inch by andreas florin is a hazardous one. with sublime high pitched tones and soaring sidechained beats, this is a top notch dancefloor record with elevating elements which gradually blend into a perfect package. with the dominant sound being reminiscent and yet thumping this is an all round venture into techno music. something for the collection as the sophomore package thats coming up is just as exciting as the first one.
