club of jacks have been previously spotted on labels like plastik people and blockhead, which should give you an idea of where their sound is pitched. this is classic house with a distinctive uk slant - the beats are up front and the bass is mighty strong. the subs on -alright- just can t be beaten, not least when peppered with other sound system garnishes that keep things ruff and tuff. -raw like 94- makes great use of a lisa stansfield sample for lyrical input, but once again the emphasis is on the weighty production. it s a sound that carries through the b side too, providing you with four highly workable jams for the peak of the night

after getting a hot cast of remixers (vril, sterac, lewis fautzi...) to reinterpret his debut full-length as kaczmarek last year, paul richard (aka paul ritch) gives his second lp k.a.c.z.m.a.r.e.k similar treatment as the talented likes of dutch production duo museum, japanese experimentalist iori, parisian techno stalwart antigone and on-the-rise italian 4/4 epics trader adiel take the reins and add their personal key to the frenchmans deeper-than-deep hypnotic delicacies, all primed for extended drifting on the dance floor and beyond. time to heed the call of the depths.

lectromagnetique takes you on a ride through some edgy, acidic and melancholic broken techno experiences. whilst many seek to portray that cold, sci-fi, and industrial vibe in their music, few get to draw on the experiences of living in the pripyat region on chernobyl’s doorstep. as you listen you can feel and visualise places you would otherwise never dare tread or let your mind wander to.

its tempting to think that the opening of schloss02, which features the sound of track racing behind a cavernous broken kick, has some connection with the fact that dj/producer karima f runs schloss out of a disused porsche repair shop with contemporary artist ida ekblad. but then you might start to wonder about other details, like whether her production is influenced by a teenage effort to fit in with the cool kids by playing the violin (it isnt). the three songs on the debut 12- of oslo mainstay karima f take off in their own direction, tripping through bleeps and metallic riffs on the way to something more ethereal.

mikron return to cpu with their second album severance . the corcoran brothers refine their critically acclaimed sound which has evolved to be more haunting than the last release. this album is a nostalgic affair with synthetic landscapes washing over you, before propelling you into the distant future. the ambient moments draw parallels with boards of canada, burial and selected ambient works vol. 2. their last album sold out fast, so don t sleep on this.

mr. k turns to the funkier side of disco on the latest 12-inch from most excellent unlimited, working his magic on a couple cuts that still retain the same power to fill dance floors they had back in the day. - love the life you live is one of those rare songs that was big for me when i first started djing, and still jams today,- notes krivit, who gives another stripped-down, bass-heavy edit to the irresistible kool & the gang classic. one for the b-boys as well as the loft heads, mr. k s edit gradually builds on the hard-charging rhythm with a slinky keyboard solo, punchy horn riffs and breaks, breaks, breaks. gary toms empire ruled the summer of 75 with -7-6-5-4-3-2-1 (blow your whistle),- and progressive djs looking for a follow-up soon discovered another mover in the band s repertoire. -drive my car- is a lennon/mccartney cover that bears little resemblance to the original, and indeed most fans would be hard-pressed to identify any similarities at all in danny krivit s reworked version. stripping out the vocals and chorus and leaving just the rumbling low end groove, mr. k s edit motors along for a cool 7 minutes, laced throughout with short change-ups to elevate the energy. both tunes spread over their own sides of a 12-inch to ensure full-frequency clarity and power!

re-release: released in 199, the sound of electro / techno came to a point where it had to evolve into a new and more grounded entity, keyed into funk / space & rooted origins that reflected an ever-changing landscape throughout detroit and the aux-quadrant. the bouncy bass line soul of posatronix project emerges in silence among several platforms without hint of a proper biography or introduction. later on the guard would be let down that an original lineup member from aux88 (william bj smith) either produced or inducted a spin-off group over seen by aux. no video, photos, or interviews accompanied the music. now in 2018, we re-introduce these dance floor/ dj crate mainstays that have continued to be cherished classics from the very men that not only too rhythmically-funky electro by storm, but raised the bar and took matters into their own hands. 100% mechanical electronic funk.
