finally four guys from the deepest south of germany decided to share some of their shit on vinyl and hodenhouse is the result of this idea. as the name of the label suggests those four guys never takin things and themselves too seriously. it s a pure love thang. and love is limited. like our first ep, hodenhouse001, limited to 250 pcs, vinyl only. perhaps in the future there will be some more releases, perhaps not. we don t know jet and to us it isn t as much important at the moment. the ep includes tracks from mad lee, kaam and nly1p. be prepared. it will be released later this year. yo.

as with his previous offerings - that have found a home on the likes of red rack’ems smugglers inn, horn wax, ruff draft, plus his co-owned end of label boss imprint – cyclonix continues to explore the deeper and more leftfield spectrum of underground dance music with a futuristic vision. made up of two original tracks, ‘alien drug store’ ep draws on a host of electronic influences ranging from deep house to detroit beatdown, alongside subtle hints of acid house and dub techno, whilst both retain the producers trademark sci-fi aesthetic. the release is completed with a sterling remix of ‘you’d better not’ from a pioneering legend of the uk underground - 4hero’s marc mac, under his nu era guise. heading up the a side is ‘you’d better not’, a slow-grooving techno cut bolstered by punchy kicks and a rubbery bassline, where foreboding sci-fi vox samples are interspersed with dubbed out chords and crunchy offbeat snares, as the arrangement shifts from one mood to another. the sub-aquatic vibes of ‘two face’ follows, which is set to a hypnotic two chord pattern, 4/4 kicks and a lashing of moody synths that gradually entices you into deeper realms through the aid of rippling hi-hats and rhythmic percussion with a submersed quality. on the flip is marc mac’s nu era take on the 12”s lead cut ‘you’d better not’, who transforms the menacing original into a blast of uplifting broken techno, where the soulful musicality of sustained strings and piano chords complement snippets of the original’s vocal sample that drifts atop adept drum programming, bouncy synth bass and a flurry of glistening synth melodies.

moscow based multi-talent impish has been steadily honing his skills working through labels such as program, c.i.a. and his own fast rising occulti music imprint. it’s that last label that saw him release the critically acclaimed “silence” lp back in 2016. fast forward to the autumn of 2017 and a new album project the “hush” lp is set for release through all quality physical electronic music outlets around the world. being the perfectionist that he is, impish continues to impress working on crystal clear music productions where impeccable drum work is combined with organic touches and progressions.
the second “hush” lp sampler features three cuts of the album. first up the well respected irish drum & bass producer zero t takes up remix duties for “solid”, turning the stripped back original stepper into a wavey hard hitter with the remixer’s sound plastered all over. continuing with “let me” featuring uk based vocalist kate wild things heat up quickly where soaring bass sounds complimented by soulful vocals and tech-like stabs make for an intense drum & bass experience. last but not least we find the original mix for “solid” featuring fellow moscow based vocalist julia marks. it’s an easy listening, thoughtful piece of drum & bass with driving beats for the dance floor but harmonies for the mind and soul.

the third instalment of our amenizer series continues in the same vein as the previous two, with a generous serving of every junglist’s favourite breakbeat, on a no frills white label vinyl, with an undercover artist providing the ammunition. jedi hi-fi is an alias of one of our core foundation x family members, and if you listen keenly it shouldn’t be too hard to work out who is responsible for these four cuts, with a trademark jungle sound which is heavily influenced by 80 s jamaican dancehall sound systems and 70 s dub production..... reggae reggae sauce – as the vocal says “serious damage” and that’s what this track will do no questions asked..... sound check 1 – dubwise from start to finish, the signature sounds ofjedi hi-fi are evident throughout from the top to the very last drop. sound check 2 – jazzy intro vibes soon give way to a head nod amen patternand creation discoteq vocal samples bounce in between the beats and bass. problems – the final track of the ep sees some expert echo chamber work.

david mayer needs little introduction. affiliated with the flourishing keinemusik label his output as a producer and a dj over the last 9 years has been massive, forging his name as an expert in percussive precision funked up and pounding 4/4 driven deep techno and house. his recent remix of connected release ‘lust’ (tigerskin and k.e.e.n.e feat elli) was testament to his classic treatment resulting in a huge track that featured heavily on dancefloors worldwide.

the label of the post-autonomous kindergarden from berlinÆs east cross awakes after a long beauty sleep. weÆre back behind the decks with a lineup that is carving out contemporary techno. finnish producer samuli kemppi, from helsinki, has accompanied us since the beginning of our club. musically, he stands for a minimalist, crystal-cut sound hailing from galaxies far, far away. fabrizio lapiana is a long-time friend of the house. his sounds are able to expand even the smallest dance floorsùhe sculpts spacious soundscapes and sends dancers on a deep dive into dark and melancholy travels. we are particularly excited about the presence of our resident akmÛ, who comes to us with energetic release after his first ep on connwax. he will be bringing his steadfast love of detail and sly playfulnessùelements present in all his dj-sets. with these three numbers, the ://about blank 002 has compiled the best of the mdf soundtrack. next stop after powernap: lobby and garden. rave on!

since four triangles was founded to release material from previously unheralded artists working in the space between house, techno and vintage rave, it seems fitting that the label’s second release should come from an analogue explorer still making his way in the world.
you may have stumbled across jonas friedlich’s debut solo 12”, a thrillingly forthright collection of hardware workouts that slipped out, unheralded, on molten moods late last year. we think the five tracks showcased here offer an extended glimpse in friedlich’s distinctive musical vision.

after releasing records on l.i.e.s. and its offspring russian torrent versions labels, caserta (close to neaples, italy) native domenico crisci quickly rose to prominence among purveyors of timeless techno. a third record on eerie cemented his reputation as a careful engineer of effective, crafty dance floor cuts that comfortably sit next to early works of the genre’s pioneers.
august of 2016 sees domenico’s sonic determination surprisingly rematerializing on silent servant, regis and james ruskin’s jealous god label with a new, strong ep crowning the distinct quality of this limited series.
through such particular path domenico got inspiration to start his own summa cum laude label project, where his most forward thinking works and brand new, surprising talents will have the first chance to get properly published.
domenico himself is inaugurating the label by “the violinist” ep, including 3 peak-time techno tracks anticipating the strongest emotive intensities, carefully finalized by the valuable experience of a mastering engineer like matt colton. to visualize domenico s particular, straightforward sound, we’ll find the kind intervention of the neapolitan artist mariangela levita.

mister mellow moves further away from the synthesizer-heavy sounds of the recent washed out releases and more band-driven sound of his work on iconic labels sub pop in america, and domino in europe. on mister mellow, greene draws from the experimental collage techniques of musique concrète and plunderphonics artists such as the residents. combining styles as diverse as free jazz, house, hip-hop and psych together with interlude-esque voiceover samples, often pulled from anonymous youtube vlogs, he creates a busy, chaotic, and caricaturish mix that mirrors the claustrophobic, hyper-stimulated psyche so familiar to young adults. as he continues to carve out his innovative sonic identity, influenced by the world around him but unafraid to buck trends, it’s fitting that greene has partnered with legendary hip hop label stones throw records, long a home for beat-loving musical rebels. his approach to releasing music is every bit as individual, too: in an environment where compiling singles into an album format or working with a single video director are the norm, greene has chosen to commission eleven different artists to bring the visual aspect of his fully-realised album project to life. on mister mellow, washed out steers clear of emotion to empathise with the minutiae of the world around him. ive been much less interested in sentimentality and emotion for the past couple of years, says greene, in some ways, i think its a reaction against getting older and having more responsibilities. maybe i’m just nostalgic for a time in my life where i could just relax and block out the world for a moment. though mister mellow is an intensely personal album, its ideas and observations speak to the lived experience of so many young adults, an experience that we come to see as both funny and sad.

going one above todays current wild wild west landscape of digital sampling and officially licensing a legendary 60s-era song thats made its rounds in the golden era of sample based hip-hop. akshin alizadeh, the man from azerbaijan, is the lucky one tapped from the label’s roster to remix marlena shaws woman of the ghetto. the producers strong funk and nu-jazz influences, as well as his ability to combine funky grooves with punchy hip-hop beats, are on full display once again. rightfully dramatic orchestral strings give way to bluesy rhythmic wah-wah guitar plucking, slightly cabaret-ish piano, pitch bending keys, and a totally sultry sax. the percussion sounds like signature alizadeh with a flickering hat pattern, well placed snare rolls, and punchy interplay with the kick. for the djs needing to spice things up, an instrumental is included.

naoki e-jima s disc shop zero record store in tokyo holds a special place in our hearts. since before idle hands was even established, when rooted records was king, the cosy, liberally stocked shop has served as a sympathetic outpost for bristol s rich culture of soundsystem music. over the years, naoki has championed all the best music to come from our fair city, from smith & mighty through to pinch and pev and on to the output from our own humble label. it s been a vital connection to help our music reach the right heads on the other side of the world, in turn providing a platform for our most treasured artists to gig and further the cause of the music we love. as a thank you for all the support naoki has shown bristol music over the years, idle hands has put together a special tribute 10inch of tracks that chime with his particular musical tastes, shining a light on some complementary gems that might have otherwise never seen the light of day. its also a chance to fill in the missing idle013 catalogue number – fortunately, the number 13 does not represent bad luck in japanese culture. on the a-side, the mighty (pun intended) rob smith takes to a track from outboxx s debut album, originally intended for a remix 12inch that never came to be. in his learned hands, lost soul becomes a shimmering stepper marked out by beautiful cascading arpeggios and of course plenty of fulsome bass, with arresting fragments of vocal drifting in and out of the mix for good measure. rob s status as a true legend of bristol music needs no explanation, but his presence here is furthermore because naoki is such a fan of his music. on the b-side, atki2 makes a welcome return to the label after bringing a classic ray of sunshine to idle hands on the second single we ever put out. as well as being a big release for us, it was apparently huge at disc shop zero, so it feels right to bring the effervescent hes royal to this 10inch release. with a sunny disposition at heart, these two tracks make sense sharing a 10inch, but it s even more fitting that they sit side by side as we doff our caps to a true hero of the global underground. thanks, naoki.

bleeds second release of the year is a fourth solo outing for label head volte-face, following up last year s incendiary you bury me 12inch. in classic bleed fashion, the ep features three atmospheric peak-time techno tracks, an ambient piece and an artist-curated remix by rising japanese star wata igarashi, a name synonymous with some of the finest off-centre techno labels, including semantica, time to express and midgar.

drumcode continues its commitment to releasing the scene s most cutting-edge techno. with releases this year already from adam beyer, pig&dan, alan fitzpatrick, dense & pika and julian jeweil, this july sees the return of enrico sangiuliano with astral projection. after his remix of mobys of why does my heart feel so bad back in november last year, enrico sought creative inspiration from his travels, transcending that into his productions and long studio sessions during the winter months. the result brings a mind and body melting release from the italian producer. the title track astral projection is a captivating, big room techno masterpiece. deep reverberations punch alongside a sinisterly crisp percussive drive. launching into a groove laden synth modulation of low end textures, it breaks down into an ethereal amalgamation of pads and synths before the vocal launches, taking this track to another level. ‘blooming era has destructive dancefloor intent. there is no holding back with the low end synth modulation which enrico has mastered to perfection. a tightly woven percussive flare moulds flawlessly with the rolling oscillations of the beast of this track. if you have seen label head honcho adam beyer playing anywhere on the globe in the last 5 months, this has been a peak time favourite. road-tested to the max, and with much success.

running a label with the ambition to push new and unique voices isn t always an easy task. while finding new artists is about as hard as finding a black t-shirt in berlin, most budding artists seem pressured to conform or mimic the already established, only to be heard. performing under the artist name bleie, oakland resident sarah bly is not one of them. originally hailing from seattle, she indeed works with the mortar of techno form, but uses different bricks altogether. it s a hard sound to articulate, at first, it s almost alienating to ears worn by years in dark clubs. its mercurial, yet still surprisingly club compatible nature makes it an aural tiger balm – it burns and soothes at once. this compositional depth is perhaps a result of bleie s background as a trained pianist and violinist, by which she transmutes the commonly associated tropes of the genre. bleie lets the elements rule over the form, giving the tracks a morphing and unpredictable feel. obviously we were instantly intrigued when stumbling across her music, and now extremely proud to present her vinyl debut certainty is only a feeling . four tracks of unique techno so brimfully suggestive that it s nearly peerless. we can t imagine this leaving anyone unaffected.

hero wouters is a dutch artist who has been active since 1950. through the years he has been involved in many (music) projects. his work in the field of electronic music ranges from synthpop to experimental music. some people might know him from his collaborations with the legendary pink dots and edward ka-spel. other people might know him from his contributions to the obscure contactdisk vinyl series or his appearance on the legendary dutch ding-dong tape label. featured on this lp is work by hero wouters from 1982, 1984, and 1986. most of the material was written for a dutch film (‘een zaak van leven en dood’) and a theatre play (‘laios’). the music has been (partly) released on cassette on hero’s own label herophone. now it is for the first time available on vinyl. the music has been restored from the original tapes and mastered for vinyl with great care not to loose the original feeling. below you can find soundclips for the tracks but we feel these do not give a really good impression of the record. the music (and the record) have to be heard in total (and as a whole) to be fully experienced and appreciated. we are proud to present this beautiful and simply fantastic music by a dutch artist that deserves more attention. the wonderful cover artwork is a drawing by maaike.

fourth chapter of the italian label dancing like quagmire. dlq s ever growing family welcomes polish newcomer primo ultimo and italian duo calma (sorry for this records owners and harmonized residents) as remixers. fasten your seatbelts and you ll fly away into a cosmic journey through space and time riding primo ultimo s flight simulator. flight safety instructions: a1 is the title-track born to be an helpful party banger with its uzi-like snares and overwhelming synths. in a2 again the flight simulator but slow down time, thanks to calma s analog arsenal the sound gets deeper and warmer. on the flip side the b1 is azure vibes a clapping tropical house jam with breakbeat reminiscences. the final destination of this trip is the b2 bilbao where equilibrium and melody are king and queen remembering that joy is an electronic thing.

italian producer giorgio luceri has released a reliable stream of records since 2011, developing relationships with labels like seven music and hieroglyphic being s mathematics. for this blame it ep he points the finger at spanish label bucketround and provides a three-track single featuring a remix from dubbyman. vocals crossed between romanthony and george michael dominate the title-track, while all chords and atmospheres are stripped from the 6d22 beats version, offering a beefy tool for the adventurous dj. after two previous releases for the label dubbyman appears in remix form supplying a sultry remix best listened to in the accompaniment of summer a cool summer breeze.

hamburgs achim maerz arrives on dba . the title refers to the fast and rough recording of the material, with the aim of catching a mood before process and self-awareness take over. fans of maerz previous releases on the essential wake up! label amongst others will immediately recognise his trademark, ethereal house sound.

ukrainian label >crocus< presents a vinyl release of one of the most high-profile hits of the year. its author, ivan dorn, is the most outstanding artist of the local scene. with the release of his single >collaba<, dorn successfully launched his international career. >collaba< is the pilot single for the >otd< album recorded in los angeles. crocus release includes two previously unreleased remixes from experienced ukrainian sound producers: the founder of the vinyl label >artreform< - joss and his colleague kirill kirik, the owner of the crocus label. both remixes are dance versions of collaba, in tech-house and house style.

atmophile electronics, a new berlin based label focusses on atmospheric side of techno, launches with a compilation called fundamentum. made up by eight tracks on double-vinyl, fundamentum brings together the most contemporary techno-talents like matrixmann, takaaki itoh, polar intertia, sofus forsberg, mike parker, alderson disk, ankurbln, and naty seres. all tracks are exclusive to this release.

the second release in endless illusion s series of split eps comes from marcos cabral & daniel araya and features two tracks from each artist. new york s cabral is known for his experimental idm and techno on labels like l.i.e.s. while daniel araya has recently released an album of acid, techno and industrial on the classicworks label. araya s we almost lost detroit is first and is a truly haunted deep techno cut with sparse acid undulations and a real sense of manic in the rasping synth lines. softer pads in the background only add to the spooky nature of the track. ghost bass is the other araya cut and this one is more up on its toes, with mid tempo kicks down low and wonky chords up top. it s a mind melting tune that trips deep into the night. live at the egg is cabral s first effort and is a lonely and icy techno track that is supple and seductive in its long lines and paddy drums. after getting you into a state of hypnosis, some freaky vocal sounds only add to the unsettling nature of it all later on. cuts & bruises rounds things out in squelchy and depraved techno territory. muted acid stabs are off in the distance as swampy drums suck you in from the front. it s a brilliantly odd tune that close out a fine ep.

industry veteran paolo martini is next to join the emerald city family with red rocks. bringing the funk, he delivers a solid two-track release with irresistible groove and dance-floor disco heat. paolo martini has been in the business for over 30 years, first releasing with gianni bini on various labels such as defected, strictly rhythm, universal, azuli and nervous. they soon established their own label ocean trax and handled remixes of kylie minogue and jamiroquai. paolo has also been testimonial for several clothing brands including diesel and adidas and also the rane mp2015 mixer. his following co-productions can be found on acclaimed labels such as hot creations, snatch!, moon harbour, 8bit, saved and cecille amongst many others. 2017 starts the beginning of a new adventure with a string of releases geared up under his new solo project.

this september will see visionquest return with alexi delano’s ‘water colors’ ep, accompanied by a remix from the persuader aka jesper dahlba&#776,,ck. chilean born, swedish raised, new york adopted and amsterdam based producer and dj alexi delano has an impressive back catalogue dating back over two decades and featuring releases on labels such as laurent garnier’s f communications, richie hawtin & john acquaviva’s plus 8, ghostly international’s spectral sound and m_nus as well as visionquest where he returns to here following his collaborative ‘the breeze’ ep alongside label co-founder shaun reeves in 2013. title-track ‘water colors’ opens the release, a smooth and gradually unfolding composition fuelled by an amalgamation deftly programmed multi-layered melodies which ebb and flow throughout the sturdy rhythmic foundation. following is the persuader’s take on ‘water colors’ which dubs things out to create a murky submerged feel in contrast, utilizing the original’s hypnotic melodies whilst subtly working in a rugged 303 line throughout. ‘communicate’ then rounds out the package with a groove-led feel, bringing a squelching acid bass, hooky vocal chop and modulating synth flutters into the limelight as the shuffled dynamic drum machine workout carries things along

super tuff makes an impressive debut straight out of brooklyn with m. vaughan at the helm, and it looks like high grade deep house is on the menu judging by the quality spread across this first 12inch. jesse bru is up first with the steady cruising futaki, featuring a great speech by tom waits about crooked trees. dj aakmael gets into a bouncier concoction on offering, and then it s down to label boss vaughan to push an agenda of tough nyc flavoured grooves splashed with dusty soul and jazz tones in an utterly infectious style. moony me then finishes off the ep with an acid track that features swooning strings and some deft drum play.

dream diary is a label operating out of brixton that has previously featured the likes of afriqua, tom gillieron and richie littler on its roster, and now it s the turn of the head honcho oslo roma to serve up some more of that subversive four-to-the-floor business. mars water- is an infectious minimal roller with bass that wraps itself around your cerebellum and pulls you in deeper, while -bubbles- does the same but without any drums to buffet it along. how good is the party is a more experimental affair that deals with off kilter rhythmic fragments and spaced out textures, leaving ep closer twotet to drop a more immediate slice of electro on the situation.
