quality late-night balearic grooves, erotic soundtracks and crafted disco reworks is what you can expect from hot n spicy. on this one, holdtight focuses on music with a soul : a1, a warm club disco-soul anthem with « i got troubles ». on a2, a sensual-erotic tasty hymn « oh oui, plus fort ». on b1 « is there any love », a luminous gospel slow delice and on b2, a dreamy 80 s rework for real lovers. as always, perfect companion for a tasty selection and happy diggers.
dj koze might be one of the worlds best producers, but above all hes a dj, and it’s his dj ear that governs. just as in a great set, so with his releases: seeing aliens came out of nowhere, a big buzzing beast of a track, to announce that koze was back on the scene and prime everyone for the coming album, knock knock. but now that koze has your attention, it’s time to remind everyone what’s most important about club music, pull things back, take a turn to the left, and get deep into the groove. thus pick up: the second single from knock knock is 100% pure groove, doubly so in the extended 12inch version. in a sense its incredibly familiar it is essentially a filter disco record, very close to something you could imagine coming out of paris around the turn of the millennium. but of course, this is koze. nothing is normal or familiar in his world, and hes taken this most foundational of clubland staples into new territory
limited 2019 repress! tight modern house tracks with that nordic feel from dorisburg as first release on bossmusik! dorisburg, also known as one half of swedens house masters genius of time did a great job. the a side smuts is a rolling, dreamy house track with attitude, while studs on the b side is a bare and bouncing drum jam. reminds a bit of an old chicago drum trax release with drum machines going wild, done in a contemporary version by dorisburg. hot!

repress .... 26 years after its initial release, in the lab ep by language receives a reissue via few & far between, a new imprint out of bristol. founder of few & far between, sam hall, makes the 1992 deep house record the figurehead of his new label, setting the scene for the forthcoming original releases and further reissues in 2018 and beyond. remastered and pressed from the original dats dug out by language members alex swift and mark lewis, in the lab receives a crisp new lease of life with a fresh pressing. swift and lewis have been working closely with few & far between throughout the entire process, digging out the treasure trove of quarter-century old dats that were knocking around in their respective homes. shocked by the sudden interest of music they made 26 years ago, they have both enthusiastically jumped on board for this reissue. in the early 90s swift and lewis crafted in the lab from the deep house sounds coming out of nyc that they were picking up in bristol’s record stores. for kids coming up in 90s south west, the sounds of new york in 1992 formed unverifiable ideas about what club spaces would have looked and sounded like. in the lab is the culmination of these fantasies, embellished with some distinctive “uk” broken beat tropes that were also flowing through bristol’s music scene at the time (and still are). few & far between has made in the lab the blueprint for its first year of releases. as language sought to recreate the influential sounds from a far off place, so too do the signees of few & far between, making references to genres nearly three decades old, in an attempt to bring them into the contemporary. for its time, in the lab is up there with the best produced deep house records of its year and, like the best of them, made on machines by kids attempting to imitate but instead coming up with something that unique and singular.
heat in two belgian flavors! check out the zaïrian electronic dance floor banger “nakombe nga” by les choc stars. comes with the dope, largely unheard belgium new beat version on the flip from the teknokrat s. both tracks were originally released in 1989 and this is the first time they appear together on 12-. reissue co-curated with renowned record fiend john gomez. the music on this winning double-sider was written by tony baron and gery françois, two belgian producers that were involved in several musical projects on the new beat scene in the 1980s. they worked under many aliases and recorded the teknokrat’s haunting “what did she say?” at the famous studio madeleine in brussels in 1989. prompted by jean martin from espera records, baron adapted the music into a further two songs to be released that year, virginity’s melancholic “the key”, and the surprising but ear catching collaboration with the label’s soukous stars, ben nyamabos les choc stars du zaire. it is still a mystery how the seeds were planted for the one-off pairing that culminated in the electronic soukous bomb “nakombe nga”. what is certain is that it is set to light up dancefloors worldwide.

!! back in stock / 2018 repress !! undoubtedly one of the most addictive records of 2017, camelphat & elderbrooks cola has been a defining musical moment of the year. growing exponentially since its release, the track has captivated tastemakers, djs and clubbers alike, topping charts and blowing up worldwide to become a true modern anthem. leading on from the success of the original and some heavyweight remixes, three of which hit the beatport top ten for the first time on vinyl, comes a remix package set to continue colas dance floor domination. rising superstar franky rizardo’s suitably heavyweight remix comes correct with a club-friendly update that elevates the unmissable vocal hook and bottoms out the breakdown. dario dattis vinyl exclusive mix continues the club feel with rolling grooves, teasing breakdowns and shuffling hi-hats in a remix which packs a punch, guaranteed to get people moving from the get-go. mousse t. flips the track completely, bringing those glitterbox vibes to defected, taking cola to the next level and going straight to traxsource 1 in the process
tessellate is back for a second round and this time they are bringing out some heat from turkey via aleksandir. the a side features two club ready tracks, starting with a euphoric and emotional journey by the name of yamaha. following that belgium’s asa moto slow things down and provide a wild and trippy acidic remake of the original.

ltd repress !!excellent raw move d sound
move d has been the man behind the legendary source records label. in the past three years he has released an incredible string of big tracks on labels like running back, smallville, liebe*detail, philpot, workshop, fax +49-69/450464 or modern love. with the -silk & shmoove ep-, the heidelberg based dj and producer contributed to compost s black label series in 2006. slightly reminiscent of his legendary -kunststoff- album and all his warm analogue techno, house and deep ambient works. pure class! there are so many things to say about move d… like his own successful labels source records and km20… his musical education as a classical drummer, jazz guitarist and piano player… his works for the german goethe institut and bauhaus university… his countless live appearances all over the world as dj or live act… but most of all his sheer endless output of high quality electronic music!

over the last couple of years, christopher rau has built a reputation as the finest ear canal masseuse in the contemporary house music scene, catching the attention of fellow hamburger dj koze who has recruited him for this new three-track ep. raus debut full-length asper clouds, released in the fall, was noted for straddling the line between >club< and >headphone< music, earning 4 out of 5 stars from resident advisor along the way, and now, with the how are you ep, he follows up to further explore his sonic approach: an assault of subtlety. >pervading animal< is built upon a solid foundation of familiar rhythm box elements, but like vines and moss, the sedating sounds of strings and keys envelop the empty spaces, showing christopher raus ability to combine the artificial and the organic into something transcendent. then, on the flip side, he lets his weirdness factor shine. at first, >c f r< sounds like by-the-numbers muppet new age, but graduates with distinction as the meowing synth squiggles saunter over the basketball beat. the ep denouements with >how are you today<, marked by a toasty chord progression thats playfully trying to compose itself as the track moves forward, turning science fiction into science fact. you want to believe

2018 repress in original artwork! the debut album of these two young lads with baseball hats not only honours and delves into a sound that already peaked some fifteen years ago, it also hones and elevates it, without ever falling into the reynoldsmania trap (please see retromania for further reference) or being old gold retold. and this is all oh-so-clear from the very start: the fine flutes of >when its there< go straight to your heart and they do so without any self-mockery or hipster smiles as much as the gasping 303-sounds, chirping birds and healing dx-like bass sounds a few tracks later do. >salty days< - an allusion not to grim times, but to a certain members adoration for the crystalline mineral - is blessed with a coherence that isnt samey, with tradition that isnt leaden and a feeling that is pure.
following the dream 2 science release on the rush hour reissue series earlier this year, another nyc garage classic by ben cenac, also known for his newcleus outfit, gets a much deserved reissue. tip! unlike dream 2 science, which remained an obscure record at the time, sha lor became an international club hit and a summer of love staple song. the timeless feel of this innocent, heartfelt vocal song sounds as fresh as it did back then and is sure to fill peoples hearts with joy again. this reissue features the caught up version, which was the most popular mix from the origin
