to celebrate record store day 2016, claremont 56 is proud to present something rather special – a killer single-sided release whose origins are shrouded in mystery. “tropic of capricorn” arrived at c56 hq with little or no information. while its’ humid sound effects and glistening, unfurling melodies evoke hazy memories of mediterranean sunsets and adriatic sunrises, the track’s creators live east of ukraine, in the colder surrounds of the russia. regardless of who made it, you’ll struggle to find a single that’s quite as warm, tactile and seductively groovy. built around a hypnotic, slo-mo groove, “tropic of capricorn” soothes and sedates from start to finish. its’ ingredients are relatively sparse – think gently undulating beats, toasty chords and an electric harp that gently ebb and flow like the waters of a mountain stream – but the results are nothing less than stunning.

our latest looking for mushrooms ep comes to us from a collaboration between long time dirt crew resident tigerskin and gifted jazz pianist and composer grambow. we first heard from grambow when his fluid key stylings featured on tigerskins faint in 2015. the title track is a suspenseful and moody journey, lead by live double bass from feature artist das eb. building in intensity with tigerskins warm production and steady percussive instrumentation until grambows live lead on a gritty synth growls in over the top. a true modern electronic classic as far as we are concernred. tsukiji is a playful deep house groover. balmy tuned percussion and shaken highs roll along under the light hearted piano which cruises along throughout the whole tropically touched endeavour. this track has party written all over it! octocat is a tougher italo disco tainted work out, tightly programmed live and analogue percussive elements push along, while wailing keys lick over a tenacious grunting bass. you can really taste and feel the long studio sessions the guys had to compose this great track. it is so much more than generic dance music. red fox is a divine culmination of the pairs compositional prowess and dance music knowhow. a cinematic and spirited house track that glides and glistens via delicate piano, plucky percussive riffs, bright strings and woodwinds. we are very honoured to release this outstanding musical release by tigerskin and grambow.

part one of a new salsoul re-edits series launches with four reworks from disco aficionado dimitri from paris. available on vinyl for the very first time, dimitri adds his deft remix touch to salsoul favourites from loleatta holloway, inner life, love comitte and skyy.

monosoul is back on tieffrequent with 4 timeless and classical cuts focussed on the important elements of housemusic...with love for the dancefloors, clubs and basements of this universe... on the a-side you have „make em match“, a rough and steady house-groove containing a constantly bouncing bassline, a deep chord-pattern, a complex percussion-cluster and a well infixed electric piano...all elements are perfectly balanced, finalized and formed to a completed floorfiller. then there is „monument street“ after which the ep was named. starting really deep and minimalistic it developes to an impulsive und powerful song. organic pads, pulsating deep chords, a rhythmic bassline and well arranged drums make „monument street“ flowing impressively from start to finish. the b-side starts up with „hot concrete“, a blazing, drum-driven basement-groover. with a sharp deepchord which is wrapped-up in several padsound-patterns, monosoul creates a very own athmosphere. in combination with an impulsive bassline and a distinct percussion- ensemble „hot concrete“ beats time on the floor noticeably. finally „life on the red island“ as the perfect final track brings the „monument street ep“ to an end. it builds up by adding small bits and pieces very subtly to a point you recognize a pulsative deephouse beauty. the remarkable bassline and the concise and bouncing kickdrum are casted in a flowing deep sounded carpet full of hope. „life on the red island“ disappears to where it came from and leaves you with strong impressions. the „monument street ep“ gives an insight into monosoul s impressive understanding and definition of house music which you can hear on 4 tracks loud and clear...thank you!

john morales geht dahin, wo noch kein dj war. das universalgenie aus der bronx, das in diesem sommer resident dj bei defecteds glitterbox-event auf ibiza war und aktuell in londons angesagtem bussey building auflegt, veröffentlicht ein abendfüllendes programm. er präsentiert unveröffentlichte mixe mit klassikern von weltstarts wie donna summer, barry white, diana ross, level 42, cher, teddy pendergrass, eddie kendricks und vielen anderen. satte vier cds oder zwei separat erhältliche doppel-lps ist diese einmalige zusammenstellung lang. john morales legt seit mehr als drei jahrzehnten auf und hat in dieser zeit über 800 remixe produziert. der vierte teil seiner -m+m mixes- ist zweifelsohne sein bislang ehrgeizigstes projekt. 32 stücke hat er seiner komplexen und unverkennbaren behandlung unterzogen und sie so noch einmal neu erfunden. dafür bekam er, was kaum einem dj gelang: man gewährte ihm zugang zu den original-mehrspuraufnahmen aus den archiven. wenn boiler room ihn als einen -der besten produzenten und arrangeure von disco-musik- beschreibt, ist das eher noch untertrieben. keiner mixt wie john morales.

make believe disco, the energetic younger sibling in the sleazybeats family of labels, continues to provide quality modern club jams ! this time they welcome ouvrijster to the make believe disco fold. ouvrijster might be dutch for old spinster , but we re not dealing with some old hag with edm aspirations here. a fresh face from amsterdam s bustling scene is behind the moniker, making his debut on the label with a three-track affair that ticks all the right boxes: sample-heavy disco gear, dusty basement beatdown and some proper mahogany vibes make for a killer ep.

the 80s italo disco /proto-house classic ‘mbo theme’ by the mighty klein & mbo, repressed! comes with an heavy (and unheard) south african version on the flip. huge tip! the mbo theme (1983) has been a dance floor favorite since decades, created by mario boncaldo and tony carrasco - the legendary italian/us duo klein & mbo. the track got support in nyc and chicago by greats as larry levan, frankie knuckles and ron hardy.
the rare version on the flip is created by a south-african band called warrior. rush hour explain how they came across the track: “we bumped into this version on a south african record digging trip. it took us a few months to realize the scarcity of this version. ian osrin, a well respected engineer in south-africa who was involved in many 80ties and 90ties bubblegum, kwaito and south african disco records, explained us about music distribution in south africa during apartheid.
