2016 repress - 250 copies only. after the success of his smack release on versatile, maghreban returns with 3 tracks for the label. all of them are quite different. i m not gonna describe them all here… here are some adjectives who will help you to catch the vibe : b-boy house / rough / jackin / early techno influenced / esg / deep / k7. all i can say is that ayman has a special approach to house music, probably influenced by his hip-hop roots as a producer. lots of cuts, breaks and raw sounding for maximum floor effect.

new york noise describes the period in history (1978-88) where new york art and music collided. beginning in the mid-1970s, new york city s soho and east village became a hot-bed of musical and artistic ideas. owing to new property laws, downtown new york and its many warehoure and loft spaces became the home of artists, bands, filmmakers, studios, art galleries and more. in this small area partically every musican was also an artist, every artist a filmmaker and every filmmaker was in a band. this scene is documented over a vibrant ten year period and the book includes pictures of jean-michel basquiat, david byrne, suicide, keith haring, glenn branca, esg, madonna, laurie anderson, philip glass, afrika bambaataa and hundereds more previously unseen photographs. with accomanying text from david byrne, laurie anderson, cindy sherman and more, this is an essential record of a fascinating era in new york s cultural history.

the green door studio opened its (confusingly black) doors to glasgows vibrant music community at the end of 2007. set up by three glasgow-based musicians emily maclaren (michael dracula/the lady vanishes), sam smith (mother & the addicts) and jamie greer (park attack), who, sick of using other peoples clinical digital studios and being told by engineers >you cant do that..<, decided to create a musician-friendly space where >actually you can...<.

the royal we are six young dreamers who came together in early 2006, under inevitable glasgow rain to plot and do stuff and hang out in cafes as if in a godard movie. things still seemed to coincide and very quickly they had a bunch of pop songs, albeit an older, odder kind of pop reminiscent of the experimental pop of orange juice or esg or even the raincoats. the band signed to domino records imprint label geographic and are due to release their stunning debut self titled album soon. this is preceded by a special 7inch single, the fantastic all the rage. the track encapsulates their staggered swagger perfectly, glam on the cheap, sassy and fun the perfect pop moment.
