in april of this year, donato dozzy took a set of mouth harps back to his parents house in the italian countryside and set about exploring the possibilities of that most basic of instruments. the mouth harp had been calling to dozzy ever since childhood, when he had discovered the marranzano on a holiday in sicily with this parents at the tail end of the 1970s. almost four decades later, dozzy had begun to see in this peculiar, ancient sound, the roots of the music hed been making and playing in clubs all these years.

from a festival to a feature to friendship, from techno to electronica to a band. in this manner towards twitter compatibility, one may describe eating snow s previous path, which has really just begun for douglas greed and mooryc, with only few characters. the two of them met in 2010 at a festival in poland, only shortly afterwards the joint tracks -pain- and -morning gloria- developed, which can be listened to on douglas greed s debut album krl. however, dougi and mooryc weren t just in tune with each other quickly, they also automatically arrived at a common sound despite their different musical roots, which ranges from sensual indietronica to powerful house right up to perfectly grooving pop moments.

after retiring from the jamaican police force arthur duke reid established his treasure isle liquor store and sound system in pink lane kingston and was crowned the undisputed king of sound and blues in 1956, 57 and in 58. the duke then moved into record production and after relocating the store to 33 bond street, he then built a recording studio on top of his new premises in 1966. according to the musicians and singers the wooden construction of the treasure isle recording studio gave the music a distinctive warmth and richness and with resident engineer byron baron/smithy smith at the controls, the sound of a bond street recording was immediately recognisable.

nach der veršffentlichung seiner dreamzone ep verbrachte der gebŸrtige finne jaakko eino kalevi das vergangene jahr hauptsŠchlich damit, shows und festivals von europa bis japan zu bespielen. letzten sommer veršffentlichte der finnische workaholic zudem seine -yin yang theatre ep- fŸr das beats in space label des new yorker djs & radio hosts tim sweeney, die mit ihrem bohemen disco-sound erneut aufzeigte, wie vielseitig kalevi sein kann. die zweite hŠlfte des jahres 2014 mixte kalevi sein fertiges album dann in new york mit nicolas vernhes (the war on drugs, run the jewels) und zog anschlie§end nach berlin. sein selbstbetiteltes synthie-pop album erscheint mitte juni auf cd und vinyl via weird world/domino records.

aufgenommen wurde die platte in los angeles und im heimstudio der band in norwegen. nach den etwas pompšseren werken one armed bandit und live with the britten sinfonia begibt sich starfire auf experimentelleres terrain und ist bestimmt durch die arbeit im studio, wo jedem song verschiedenste klangliche nuancen beigemischt wurden. der sound von marcus forsgrens gitarre spielt auf starfire eine ebenso prominente rolle, wie der einsatz von elektronischeren klŠngen, das macht es zu dem am wenigsten jazzigen album von jaga jazzist.
