berlin based adam marshall and christian andersen collaborate as graze. in the latest installment of our ufo series, the dekmantel records offshoot dedicated to experimental and futuristic electronic music, the canadian veteran producers serve up a 50/50 lethal/dreamy drum trax package. many have applauded the versatility of graze, and their xup ep is yet more proof of their original minds. xup is an abstract 4/4 jugular, beating out devious percussive patterns and rattling hi-hats over a grizzled and arpeggiated synth mortar-fire. vast on the other hand is an esoteric slow-burner, a hallucinatory trip to the depths of analog synth paradise and a perfect intro, outro or home listening gem. on the flip, the hyper-lean gearshift of tryptch pumps energy through off-kilter and plunderphonic basslines, while shadow play’is a classic piece of breakbeat bliss including a celestial synth arrangement that makes a perfect soundtrack for slow-speed sci-fi rides.

the first release from naissance musik (nm) is a 12” vinyl from the super-group dream scoring (hear and hakim murphy) entitled images of a myth. it is comprised of 4 tracks. a myth is a legendary story that a community validates to explain part of its reality. however any member or group within the community can have his or her own version of the myth, and the myth can also evolve through time. we may all listen to the same track but this track still calls up intimate images for each and every one of us. a myth is full of adventure and mystery, it is epic and full of emotions. it can be anything from the lost ark to greek gods fighting. the aim is to fill our bodies and minds with emotions. the main idea is to tell stories like books or movies, but through musical notes & rhythm. the music makers provide the musical image, the listeners create the myth. and vice-versa.

yet again, labelowner gaze ill joins forces with the danish dubstep ambassador rdg, this time for a 4 track collaborative ep. on the aside the artists minds melt together in two pieces of dubstepscience. as the title suggests, rdg and gaze ill show what dubstep is made of with “keepin’ it real” that’s characterized by a pressuring hardness, and uplifting energy. “the zone” follows with its progressive universe that evolves in just the right way with perfect timing. the bside shows off the two artists individual skills with immense, paranoid vibrations on rdg’s “shapeshift”, and thrillingly deep basslines on gaze ill’s “combo”. the ep is a refreshing showcase of the genre’s finest offerings original sound with a wellbalanced diversity. rdg and gaze ill keep it real for this first vinyl release on cue line records.

there’s much to be said for chance meetings. vitruvians – in their words, “a meeting of minds, cultures, styles and experiences, powered by music, and designed by faith” – owe their very existence to once such random encounter.
in the summer of 2014, producers frankie valentine and thomas “t-ash” sciurpa bumped into each other in a london shoe shop. over a fine selection of brogues and loafers, the conversation drifted onto music. the duo quickly realized they had much in common, and a plan began to form: they would get together and make music as vitruvians, using the alias as a vehicle for their collaborative work.

subosc is back with organic elements. we present four rhythmically effective tracks with an underlying theme: rarefaction, dense textures and evocative atmospheres inducing a spectrum of sensations like melancholy, introspection, mind wandering and encouraging the search for the self.
we thought long about this selection, until we reached what we wanted: a collection of timeless and immersive landscapes, modeled by alan backdrop (prologue), artefakt (delsin), ben gibson (axis) and tripsolate & redundaent (nowhere).
the artwork, curated by hillary flanders, is inspired by the nietzsche’s idea of -the overman- (ubermensch), which is one of the most significant concept in his thinking: an overman should be able to affect history indefinitely, keeping on reentering the world through other people’s minds and affect their thoughts and values.
the release aims to be a must have for the lovers of techno music characterized by refined aesthetics and analog warmth, ideal to give added value to autumn moments.

the grooves of thomas white and pete williams aka natural rhythm, have been a mainstay in the sets of robsoul boss phil weeks for more than a decade. today he pays ‘tribute’ with a special re-release of some of his favourites. born in a garage in the late 90’s, natural rhythm was a meeting of passionate musical minds. working together the pair sought to create their own style and sound, influenced by the tracks they were regularly spinning in their own dj sets across the country. creative sampling and their own raw beats, together with live instrumentation and regular guest vocalists, saw natural rhythm create a strong catalogue that, as we know, are still getting played today. with three albums and over 35 ep/single releases to their name, there more than enough music for label boss weeks to select from for the tribute ep. a tough job? of course. however, phil went straight for the four that never leave his box. leading the ep are the sun-drenched vocal vibes of ‘something big’, the title track of natural rhythm’s 1999 release on under the counter. our a2 is the lead track from 2001’s last call at the martini ranch ep, ‘chicago nights’, with its quaking bassline and disco dalliance. on the flip we’re treated to a choice selection from natural rhythm’s 1999 double album contrast in nature. first up with its celestial chimes and thumping kick is ‘smoldering island’, taken from the original part 1. closing the tribute release and taken from part 2 is the devilishly funky and suitably titled feelgood jam ‘energized’. we definitely are!
