7 track ep/mini album by l/f/d/ms richard smith dream bleeds overflows with body jerking industrial, raw acid/techno, and hints of the warehouse sound of the late 90s and the caustic spirit of ebm. richard smith says about dream bleeds, attaching meaning to songs is often arbitrary but when the visceral feeling of music, particularly instrumental body music, is laid bare, the interaction is immediate and physical. these tracks thread together each starting point completely open, each new step informed by the last. i find it interesting that the process is the same but the outcome somewhat unexpected shaped by emotion, inspiration or even constraints of time, they evolve as they do in that time. they reach a different end point due to that evolution of circumstance.

re-release: released in 199, the sound of electro / techno came to a point where it had to evolve into a new and more grounded entity, keyed into funk / space & rooted origins that reflected an ever-changing landscape throughout detroit and the aux-quadrant. the bouncy bass line soul of posatronix project emerges in silence among several platforms without hint of a proper biography or introduction. later on the guard would be let down that an original lineup member from aux88 (william bj smith) either produced or inducted a spin-off group over seen by aux. no video, photos, or interviews accompanied the music. now in 2018, we re-introduce these dance floor/ dj crate mainstays that have continued to be cherished classics from the very men that not only too rhythmically-funky electro by storm, but raised the bar and took matters into their own hands. 100% mechanical electronic funk.

the tel-aviv based label parallax brings yogg and pharaoh together for their 8th vinyl release. it starts off with the epic title track, a laid-back bassy groove surrounded by crispy hits and shifted electrical noises, building up to a climatic second part which fuses a lot of the producers unique soundscapes, all on a hypnotic pounding rhythm section. this is followed by a quirky broken electronica short, -ompti-, chopped-up modular sweeps and lush melodic hints create this uniquely structured a2 track. the b-side starts of with -maurice-, a more direct and intensive techno cut, which also breaks into an energetic – wobbly 2nd section which also features many of their unique sound explorations in a dramatic final section. b2, -abadei- has a deeper buildup approach for most of it, starting from a pure yet uneven rhythm section, and growing into a mass of counterparts and layers of noise and crackle. the ep ends with an unlisted locked-groove, an intense and dirty industrial-techno groove.

conforce returns under his silent harbour guise this august with the ‘noctiluca’ mini lp, a six track collection set for release via copenhagen’s echocord. dutch producer boris bunnik has been releasing material under various guises over the past two decades such as conforce, versalife, hexagon, vernon felicity and of course silent harbour which he revisits here following 2015’s ‘hinterland’ on deep sound channel and the self-tilted inauguration of the project in 2012 on echocord. the beatless drones of ‘riparian’ open the package, perfectly setting the tone with murky bell like chimes, rumbling subs and splashes of white noise before title-track ‘noctiluca’ picks up the pace, tipping the focus over to bubbling dub echoes, glitched out, minute percussion and a sturdy muted kick to keep things driving. ‘dwelling’ is up next, featuring expansive, washed out synth textures, cavernous bass tones and modulating percussion throughout. leading on the b-side of the release is ‘peridinum’, employing classic dub techno tropes with an amalgamation of choppy stab sequences dynamically evolving over off-beat hats and a thunderous kick. ‘fusiformis’ strips things rhythmically whilst keeping the bubbling delays and expansive reverbs at it’s core before closing track ‘pelagia’ brings bright, resonant synth lines, delayed percussive hits and tension building synth bass into the limelight.

next up in the apparel music limited series is loure with a 4 track ep which also includes a remix by saine. the name of this work by the aussie is smooth talk and it contains all the stylistic elements that make the melbournian one of the most talented in the scene at the moment. the ep kicks off with the title track which can be certified as a dancefloor banger with its solid rhythmics and the smooth synths playing along with a hint of acid keeps going with mutual motion which gives a display of what this guy can do in terms of creating spacey deep harmonies, such a groovy way to lower the tones before the remix of the 1st track smooth talk. saine here puts his signature once again with another banging tune crafted on loure sounds, adding his touch with deep percussions, a substantial compact beat with a bass-line that will get you carried away. the closing track is the right decompression after a journey through sounds: rolling snares, vocal samples chasing each other and a happy touch to finish in style.

frame of mind is back with a re-issue of another unknown gem from the early 90 s. uk production team dave campbell and viv beeton are most known for their uk techno, rave and bleep classics as ubik. it is under the alias of timenet they released an obscure white label in limited quantities in 1992. this untitled and one-off 3-tracker remained fairly unknown up until today. it shows quite a different side of their stunning production talents. dishwasher is a rough drum machine work out topped with a wild bleepy sh101 synthline a la mr fingers. dx moods is a spaced out techno tune combining mysterious pads and crazy dx-100 programming. with on the move the uk pioneers come closest to their ubik sound: mad uk techno with a hint of rave. a previously unreleased and stripped down version of this track is included as well.

label friend jules heffner is doing his debut on terrace trips. -swamp- kicks off with some jungle sounds and a deep dotted bass line. guy from downstairs (gfd, robsoul) serves a smooth remix with a rolling morphing bass line and some crisp percussion hints. on the b-side -wharf- is with his flurry synths more like a fata morgana tearing you in some wet fantasies. a remix of this one is coming from anatol who just uses some synths from the original and a simple 303 bass line which turns the track in a more minimalistic direction you better use nobite on this one.

optimo music don’t generally do limited edition releases but when the golden filter did these extra mixes of “end of times”, the a1 track off their recent ep we thought they were too good to remain in the digital domain so have pressed up a small run of 12” singles aimed specifically at djs. the original single version is a future synth classic. these new dub versions take it to the dancefloor and have been tried and tested around the world over the last few months. they are considerably extended, dubbed out and add extra dynamics & ecstatic synth power with hints of the original vocal. there is a slo mo version at 103 bpm and a faster version at 118bpm which means the track should work any time from warm up to peak set. there is also a drone-apella version included too.

alter is the new album from belgium-based double bass player and electronic producer otto lindholm. divided into four colour-inspired, long-form movements, alter takes off from lindholms previous work a self-titled album released in 2015 on icarus records, and pushes the already abundant palette of sounds even further. this new work is more brooding and hypnotic. a deep, resonating bass is present - hinting at the likes of greek, chamber-doom merchants mohammad but perhaps with more attention placed upon textures and melody. the record moves at a funereal pace and opener fauve hits abyssal depths from the outset. a bowed melody is coaxed through the throbbing bass with dissonant harmonics drawing you in and holding you close. the ghostly beginnings of alyscamps create an overwhelmingly tense atmosphere where acoustic and electronic elements collide and evolve into a heaving, ceremonious drone. shafts of light emerge through the fog but the tone remains a haunted one. closer, heliotrope, strikes a more hopeful note. a lighter, more open feel emerges - bringing to mind early work of the rachels or perhaps deaf center.

in 1973, emi records nigeria released the 45 rpm disc fuel for love b/w soundway, credited to a mysterious band called wrinkar experience. the record was a finely-crafted gem of pop-rock and funky soul as had never before been heard coming out of the countryÆs nascent rock scene, and it ended up being the biggest selling nigerian single up until that point. the success of wrinkar experience effectively demonstrated that was a market for homegrown pop and rock, and sent record labels scrambling to sign similar bands, kicking off the nigerian rock revolution that is still being celebrated and discovered by new generations today. but while wrinkar experience launched the movement, the group itself would be short-lived: after another hit single in 1973, the bands frontman danie ian split for a solo career. the remaining principal players in the group cameroonian musicians ginger forcha and edjoo jacques racine tried to keep the wrinkar name going before giving it up and rebranding themselves as rock town express. rock town expresss debut lp funky makossa was recorded in 1974 for arc records, the cutting-edge studio and label established in lagos by english drum legend ginger baker. the album showcased in long format the qualities that had only been hinted at on the wrinkar experience singles: bright, confident pop melodies, articulate lyrics, and darkly potent funk-rock. comb & razor sound is proud to present a new, fully-authorized reissue of funky makossa, featuring the seven tracks from the original release, plus i am a natural man and i dont want to know, from wrinkar experiences seldom-heard third and final single.

iron curtis back catalogue is a formidable beast within the realms of deep and tech house, touching on labels like morris audio, jackoff, sudden drop and mule electronique. he s intermittently popped up on hudd traxx as well, and he returns with a fulsome new ep that hints at a forthcoming second part.lights- is a bold, chiseled peak timer with some emphatic string stabs coursing through it, while captured takes a slinkier route without dulling the impact of the curtis studio approach. 22 days is a funkier concern that lets the low end synths do the brunt of the work, and then my humming machines rounds the ep off with a warm and bubbling deep house roller for a cosier part of the night.

dilla- von abstract orchestra ist eine hommage an die arbeit des hochgelobten und einflussreichen produzenten. der opener -welcome to detroit / the diary- nimmt die stimmprobe von isaac hayes -man s temptation- und platziert sie gegen üppige bläser und treibende beats, während -workinonit- die originalen 10cc gitarrensamples aus dem dilla-original auf beißende trompeten und aggressive saxophone transportiert, wie immer von joost hendrickx auf trommeln untermauert. auf -stop- singt die sängerin anna uhuru den dionne warwick-gesang mit viel gefühl, während die band eine anordnung hinterlegt, die an die arbeit von david axelrod und don sebeskey erinnert, beide große inspirationsquellen für das abstract orchestra. -dilla- wurde erst kürzlich von gilles peterson in seiner bbc6 musik-radio-show gefeiert.

es ist vollbracht. beinahe zwei stunden peterlicht, live, gebannt auf ein album. mit allen hits in neuen versionen, einem tosenden strom von musik und sprache, der hyperreal die atmosphäre der live-konzerte spiegelt. immer wieder durchkreuzt von peterlicht selbst mit seinen flirrenden erzählungen zwischen komik und schmerz, irrsinn und hysterie. und seinen wunderbaren, nicht enden wollenden lied-ansagen, in denen er sein schaffen als künstler auf der bühne immer wieder kritisch hinterfragt: was tue ich hier eigentlich? was tut ihr hier? und nehmen wir das gerade tatsächlich auf? herausgekommen ist eine pulsierende mischung aus guter musik, wilden live-momenten und literarischen schussfahrten. wir folgen einem künstler auf seinem kühnen ritt über die mindestens doppelbödigen planken der live-darbietung, dass es für alle ein genuss ist. und am ende geht alles immer glimpflich aus: der nächste song. applaus. ein lob der realität.

einfach schön: 12 inch mit klassischer, seelenvoller und melodischer house musik.
hinter rhemi verbergen sich ziggy funk und neil pierce aus london. bevor sich die zwei 2013 zu rhemi zusammenschlossen, verschafften sich beide in englands kapitale als veranstalter und djs einen klingenden namen. zu ihren förderern und freunden gehören keine geringeren als louie vega und joey negro. und damit wäre auch schon das musikalische steckenpferd benannt, dem ziggy funk und neil pierce frönen, nämlich klassische, seelenvolle und melodische house-musik, der säuselnde balearen-einflüsse genauso wenig fremd sind, wie lichte keyboard-flächen und schwer pumpende boogie-beats.

weiss, limitiert und nummeriert! knapp drei jahre nach dem bis dato erfolgreichsten montreal album sonic ballroom legt das nordische trio um flutlichtgestalt max power endlich nach und wie gewohnt noch eine spatelspitze drauf. die 12 lieder auf schackilacki kommen in sachen sound, melodie und textlicher finesse derart direkt und unn¸tig aufgeblasen daher, dass nach 31.15 minuten schlicht keine fragen mehr offen sind. bleibt das fragezeichen, das der albumtitel erstmal in den gesichtern mancher zeitgenossen hinterl§sst... aber da winkt max power z§rtlich ab: wer auf anhieb nicht ahnt, was schackilacki ist, der wird es auch nach noch so motivierten erkl§rungsversuchen nicht verstehen

coast to coast vividly presents the many faces of belgian producer and dj peter van hoesen. example in case: the title track is a no-holds-barred epic synthesizer composition, recorded at the producer s handwerk audio synthesizer studios. van hoesen s love for widescreen synthesis comes clearly to the fore on this track. it is a beautiful showcase of how techno can be emotive, driving and muscular, all at the same time. entrance to entropic city takes a different path, opting for a much more abstract narrative. shunning away from the dancefloor, it chooses to hint at concepts hidden below its sonic surface. voodoo benny s wishbone takes the listener deep into hypnotic and percussive breakbeat territory. menacing synth sweeps coil around the drums while a polyrhythmic groove shows off its tension, six minutes long. finally, in empire in decline - 2017 dub van hoesen reworks his 2008 classic. shuffling breakbeats form a new base for empire s bouncing synth lead.

initial listens to inre rymden (swedish for inner space) reveal it to be a curious combination of slow-motion house music and salubrious new age funk. in this case, first impressions are accurate, and they should intrigue you enough to dive deeper into the paradisiacal vistas tommy awards paint here. the opening track prometheus introduces that feeling of sundown deliquescence that very few musicians can summon, as it locks into a laid-back groove that induces utmost serenity, buoyed by sublimely mellow guitar vibes that should make fans of manuel gšttsching s ashra and phil manzanera s solo output spring to attention. draget conjures the sort of exquisite elegance and preternatural chill last heard on roxy musics 1982 lp avalon but somehow its even more blissed out than that boudoir classic. and so it goes for most of inre rymden: among the six tracks, only rexy hints at tension, courtesy of a bass line that sounds like it should score a prisoners walk to the electric chair. but thats tempered by guitar sighs of radiant melancholy, not unlike those lofted by popol vuh s daniel fichelscher. even when inre rymden gets relatively uptempo, as on hans logan, it still glides like gilded, glazed, balearic house jams, urged on by subliminal bongos and dappled with pastel guitar shimmers far off on the horizon. music is love and love is our music, runs tommy awards slogan (a sentiment beautifully echoed by david crosby on his revered 1971 album if i could only remember my name), but one could also argue that it is medicine a balmy ear massage that spreads healing frissons to all areas of your body and mind. tommy awards continue their miraculous act as scandinavians channeling the tropics with stunning audio verisimilitude.

lost in time continues on it’s path exploring timeless underground house music with number 8 in the series. the ‘last step’ ep focuses on the extraordinary production talents of tuccillo, the italian musician widely regarded for his unblock studio. this record marks a deviation in direction for tuccillo, who is recently returning to his roots, making stripped down minimal dubs aimed directly at the dance floor. lostime008 includes four new cuts which can best be defined as ‘romanian’ style in essence. in fact raresh from a:rpia:r and livio & roby from premiesku are early supporters. the title track kicks things off with rolling percussion with more than a hint of latino attitude. dubby stabs and detroit style chords soon join the party and intricate changes in the drum programming keep subtly lifting the track throughout. ‘changed’ opts for a totally different tact, opening with lush, dreamy pads which evolve alongside rolling snare patterns and bass grooves to reveal a heavily harmonised spoken word vocal. on the flip side, ‘drum engine’ opens with feint, delayed vocal stabs which are joined by celestial, swirling pads, before being abruptly stripped away to reveal a menacing growling bass finally, ‘titled’, takes thing in a more minimal direction with airy pads and acid bleeps panning around the mix, showing off tuccillo s immense production talent

unto the sons of the royal amphibians were given by lot, throughout their families and out of the tribe of zebulun, twelve records. the fifth ep in the treisar series sees moscoman deliver a new piece of dancefloor dazzle with the royal amphibian international ep. just across the nile kicks off down in the sluggish ends of the club. flamboyant claps and hypnotizing accordion stabs hint at brighter climates but the darkness of the bass threatens from beneath. express way explores broken beats before resolving into a 4x4 drive stocked with balearic flair and ominous vocal chops, while its dub counterpart brings the ep to a melodic close with an unhurried, glistening rework.

since its inception, shifted s avian imprint has gone from being a murderous, straight-laced techno imprint to what has now become a source for some of the best and most multi-faceted industrial music from the european quarters. we re not sure of verge s true identity, it could either be one of the label s existing artists, the mysterious shifted himself, or even an artist like blawan riding incognito (don t quote us on that, though!) solitary and crest-fallen, this magnetic collection of tunes feed off one another with utter ease and simplicity. they re not merely a selection of sound experiments but rather a unitary cloud of sonics which leave the listener with a powerful mental image. the feeling of dusk, the water dropping off the leaves, the cold breeze of autumn. this is a blinding foray into the darkest corners of contemporary industrial experimentation.

bqd40.3 features some new label signings that hint at the label’s future musical direction. first up is giuliano lomonte, who delivers an unbeatable groove courtesy of “reflections”. on the b is jorge gamarra & gulp from the sur label collective, who weave a tight combination of broken beats and 4x4 rhythms on “valve”, a track that comes complete with swelling synths and a modern, house flourish. closing off the package is another member of the sur collective crew, formas, whose track, “prisma”, really does take the listener on a proverbial journey. a real synth-infused masterpiece, it’s proof indeed that the next chapter in the brouqade story looks set to be every bit as exciting as what’s come before.

vent is guided by bana haffar into ethereal vistas open for interpretation. endless suggestions are offered, each fractaling into sparks of insight leading in turn to more suggestions. bana’s compositions display layer after layer of colourful enigmatic veils, hinting at an inner core of darkness whilst remaining playful and intuitive. her ideas expand over the length of this lp, and beyond that, further into our minds and bodies with the reverberations of her sounds.

night visions is a collection of stories which dance alive over an infectious blend of afro-latin rhythms and contemporary dancefloor beats. told by a variety of characters, drawn from the vibrant imagination of chico mann, these stories take place in an endless night, where we move through dimly lit clubs, jungle moonlight, pitch black desert plains, and the internal shadows of personal darkness. while the characters often stumble and search blindly in the dark, the persistent presence of a distant light provides an underlying direction and hopefulness to all the songs. captain planet s production, informed by his regular crowd-moving dj sets, keeps the album sounding effortlessly danceable & contemporary. meanwhile, chicos vocals have an instant classic appeal, hinting at old cuban rumba and vintage afrobeat lps. the two are aided by guest vocals from regular collaborators kendra morris & brit manor, as well as some talented friends who contributed additional horns, guitar & marimba

vinyl only .. space is most definitely the place as far as the latest vinyl adventure from us here at future reactions is concerned. with galactic references aplenty, futuristic soundscapes and more than a hint of interstellar travel on the analog core ep, the only thing missing is an astronaut suit. manning the controls of this otherworldly craft is josé rico, a key figure in themadrid underground scene through his associations with the downbeat and freebeat labels, who blasts off with the raw emotional electronica of orion. that man rico also features alongside the much-vaunted leonid (dolly/sistrum/statik entertainment) under their joint studio guise of cygnuss. having made their debut on freebeat earlier this year with the well-received long player night drive, the duo are on a mission here to warm-up the dance-floor with their house-not-house rocket journey to outertape. hailing from buenos aires but with a sensibility rooted in chicago and detroit, diego perrisson caught the attention of the more discerning ears as co-owner of the short-lived but not-forgotten label monochromatic. turning heads once again with his new venture, fundamental sounds, perrisson captains a smooth touchdown with the cultured deepness of restless ride.

brazillian-born daniela caldellas returns to hotflush recordings with misantropicalia, a three track ep, with each one showing different facets of her influences, further enriching her identity as terr. picking up where last aprils burn the past ep left off, terr continues to develop what is becoming her retro-futurist signature. the unmistakable footprint of electro, as well as a palpable nostalgia for the early 80s, is present throughout. the title track perhaps even betrays a whiff of italo or hi-nrg with its moroder-esque bass and silky guitar licks, before moving into pure body-popping, linoleum dancefloor territory on the b-side. outrun is an invitation to do the robot worm best heard on a portable ghetto blaster, while dont look around rounds off the 12inch in galvanizing style with hints of electroclash in fractured, fleeting vocals and beats of the fat variety. misantropicalia shows terr with her influences on her sleeve, and her gaze fixed firmly forwards

idle hands is proud to present our first 12” of 2017 from lerosa, a four-tracker beamed across the irish sea to bristol. the ‘subcouture’ ep sees the esteemed producer operating at the intersection of dubby electro and deep house, taking in the sub-heavy frequencies bristol is known for, whilst retaining an agile and sleek simplicity. ‘maryelen’ is a tight, yet pastoral electro track where dreamy pads contrast against tough, cutting drum programming. ‘line bass’ is a tumbling and bouncy number, that doffs its cap to reggae disco and features vibrant synths peppering the mix. ‘scruffy’ takes on a slower and more playful mood, featuring light licks of acid and off kilter keys. ‘subcouture’ is a subtle dubbed out house cut with a hint of shuffle.

gatupreto release their sophomore distino di nos vida on tink! music! the duo from lisbon s hinterland return with a second round of their impeccable, futuristic theory on modern club music after the acclaimed modo di trabadja ep, released in 2015. the tropical taste of cabo verde, the cool of that lisbon dance floor fusionism, the appeal of classic vibes. tracks too dark and twisted to be called afro, too sexy and melodic to be called techno, too smart and freaky to be called house and too cool and mature to be called kuduro, it is simply gatupreto. on the a side i became me, deep afro dub with a killer sub bass and endless echoes, starring portuguese soul and hip hop legend nbc as guest vocalist and a remix by afro dutch master and fellow tink! artist philou louzolo who turns i became me into an irresistible deep house with african undertones. on the flip side, the dark dramatic stomping tracks afrowerk and gatu di noti, the first an eerie, irresistible peak time banger, and the later a stormer with sounds from natural africa, harpy acid lines and an off kilter beat.

disco inflections and happiness-driven chanting begins this release. off-placed rhythms call one to move. listening and dancing, is what needed. such need is further pursued in a2. listen. move. ‘which of the waltzes’ explores layering of sounds and is driven by shama joseph’s spontaneous vocal improvisation. while the rhythm swings, the vocals and piano maintain the warm harmonies. the final track is a broken rhythm expulsion. snippets of vocals and deeply resonating piano hints to what ‘which of the waltzes’ could have sounded if further experimentation in sonic reductionism would have taken place.

no bad days is back for round 2. ‘in the galleria’ slides in with dreamlike pads and a real euphoric feel to the whole track. just right for those balearic sunsets. second on the a side is ‘celestial bodies’ - a melodic freestyle jam that makes us feel like we’re down at the arcade playing ‘out run’ on a dusty mega drive.
over to the flip we start off with the title track, ‘lunar waves’ beginning with a tougher feel it hints at a hardware acid workout... but half way in roberto hits you with those dreamy pads again and just has us in his hands for that synth solo at the end! rounding off the ep perfectly is ‘when u come around’, a real ‘end of summer sitting down at the park with your mates’ kind of track...mmm...

“rainy days” is a subtle afterhours track, with an undulating groove and drums that feel like they ve been carved out of marblee. distant groans, hints of studio ambience and druggy, moaned half-words “edifeirwch” comes a long with the premise to sail off to vast open seas but also keeping you to the ground with it’s 4x4. fliping the side we have franco cinelli’s “rainy days” extended remix focusing on intrincated percutions wich making the groove give you this “forward and backwards” feeling.
