for the first time iron curtis enters the ring over the full ep length for uncanny valley. there hasn t been much of a discussion whether or not this is something for uncanny valley when iron curtis approached the four label heads with this new pile of dance floor material. these tunes are too good. iron curtis must have been particularly inspired by the muse while producing these four outstanding house tracks. you ll feel a comprehensive knowledge about dance music s history when listening. no doubt, the franconian who is now based in berlin has spent a good time of analysing house music s techniques. -sweet romancer- is the best example for his studio eloquence. modulated synths, a classic bass line and a whole batch of drum ideas are combined into a wonderful track. the interplay between subtlety and vitality characterizes -nixdorf danse-. plus, you won t forget those strings. on -triroom- he proves that he has a knack for melodies as well. finally, -take me home- should provide a lot of emotional moments on the dance floor with its dramatic piano and crescendo-like synth line.
session victims new label adventure pen & paper sets its sails with the boys first original track since their 2017 album listen to your heart. puzzle builds an intense groove from an array of mechanical and organic percussion and chunky 12 bit chordstabs over a haunted pad and noise backdrop. closing the a side, vril takes the tune far out into deserted wasteland, steering his drumloops over chilly soundscapes towards a lynchesque string horizon. with not one but two versions, iron curtis claims the flip all for himself and, well, excels, excels twice. b1 hits with everything a breakbeat can hit you with and it brings that exact kind of bassline along. euphoric retro arps flush everything into enigmatic breakdowns to bring it back out and further. mr curtis finally brings the record into classy house territory with his passagen mix, embedding the original in between a heavily bouncing rhythm and an irresistible string section. vital sales points: - new label by the infamous session victim - smashing remixes by vril (dystopian, giegling) and iron curtis (hudd traxx, frank music) extensive global promo + tour - vinyl only
iron curtis has felt like a polytone artist for quite a while now. he recently delivered a breathtaking remix for matthias vogt, and shared a split ep with the man himself, terrence dixon. hes also played several label nights, but indeed unwind is his first very own ep on polytone. the opening track riders is our floor filler here. a subsonic bass experience of the more intensive kind. its a pure groover, with a surprisingly long lasting breakdown that never lacks on intensity. cream on the a2 is a stellar ambient joint, with rhythmic elements and cosmic pads. on the flip we have the title track, unwind, with an unconventional basic groove, bleepy touches and trademark 707 drum machine sounds. pure and stunning deepness. the final track is a remix from force/emerge and leads unwind into techno territory. polytone stands for diversity, and again demonstrates the labels vision of versatility here.
iron curtis is back on hudd traxx with the second installment of his lights ep. much like the first round that dropped earlier in the year, the man like johannes paluka is on sterling form, dealing in the kind of refined yet earthen, deep but punchy house music hes built his name on to date. spectral is the consummate opener, deft piano chords and rock solid drums with additional dubby fx pulsing through the mix. well well well is a sunnier affair aiming for that euphoric terrace moment, while see ya brings a rough swing to the party with a cosy, intimate line in soulful sample licks. l&p finishes the ep off with a warm, acidic bassline and more of that deep diving beatdown business.
iron curtis back catalogue is a formidable beast within the realms of deep and tech house, touching on labels like morris audio, jackoff, sudden drop and mule electronique. he s intermittently popped up on hudd traxx as well, and he returns with a fulsome new ep that hints at a forthcoming second part.lights- is a bold, chiseled peak timer with some emphatic string stabs coursing through it, while captured takes a slinkier route without dulling the impact of the curtis studio approach. 22 days is a funkier concern that lets the low end synths do the brunt of the work, and then my humming machines rounds the ep off with a warm and bubbling deep house roller for a cosier part of the night.
2x12 inch lp + mp3 – welcome to industrie & zärtlichkeit, the raw, quirky yet emotional debut album from moon! although the berlin-based duo is revered for dancefloor bangers such as ze power, johannes albert and johannes paluka (better known as iron curtis) have put much effort into making this album a true listening experience without sacrificing their roots in house music
office vol. 10 ! versatility has got to be iron curtis second name. there are only few other producers on the electronic scene who are able to display such a variety of musical facets as this talented man from berlin. with his maple ep he underlines his reputation of an artist with many faces as his new release is quite a box of surprises: rarley have we heard iron curtis in such a dubby mood.
beginning with the straight and bass centered title track maple iron curtis moves on to the almost beatless and moody collision and the chord driven dub house of entago entery and finishes the ep with the delicate, ambient encore reset me on b2. with its impressive display of variety this record is a celebration of reduced, understated dub techno performed with a distinct musical flair and a clear artistic vision which perfectly fits label owner baaz direction of his office imprint so far. what s surprising is how effortless and natural iron curtis appearance on his long-time friend s record label feels. in such good shape his maple ep is a definitve tip for the lovers of sophisticated and detailed dub techno full of suspense.
having been rivals on the football pitch as teenagers, a chance encounter many years later - djing at an international windsurfing festival - cumulated in a back to back set that kicked off the italia90 collaboration. putting the footballing differences aside, italia90 grew out of a shared love of quality house music that was influenced greatly by glasgow s close relationship with chicago and institutions such as the sub club that brought these house heroes close to home.
moon is a discovery of iron curtis & johannes albert. before them boys drop their album they tease us with some rave informed jungl-ish techno (fyi - working title -shed-). the break? yes it is just long enough to go to the loo. flip comes with proto appealed trance in a classic executed electro-vain. so hop on your spacecraft and join ze ride.
is there a better way to introduce a label than by releasing 2 exclusive tracks from its founders? quarion and session victim (featuring hauke freer) show what retreat stands for with this pancake-hot split ep
seven years and five volumes of treats down the line, retreat flips the script in 2016 and introduces a brand new remix series (cheekily) entitled re-treats! with nebraska, session victim and quarion reworking stables fromthe rtr back catalogue, re-treats vol.1 is a brilliant showcase of the art of the remix as each artist comes up with a truly personal take on the original material
what do you do when you are part-time bored, when you are part-time broke and – even better – when you claim to make and live dance music (of course, also part-time)? well you are obviously running a record label. this is what johannes albert does since 5 fun years and 20 releases. releasing his own music on vinyl but also his mates stuff. frank will celebrate this anniversary among life & happiness early 2016 with two 12 inches and a lousy tour. fred p lifting us up right from the start with his “energy cloud”. soulful drum workouts make peace with heavenly layers. far out bliss. next in line is good friend iron curtis who is calling for sweet operators. flip side offers our session victim boys first time on the label. lets have some moody juice wit hauke & matthias once and for all! hidden beauty is the kind of track you wouldnt expect from tim toh of philpot fame. well its a beauty and now not so hidden anymore. lets just be frank shall we?
finally, leftback s own dudley strangeways rounds off the ep is his usual style, which cannot be described as anything less than true quality. as ever, black key have excelled in delivering a package which ticks all the right boxes, this is a release which will undoubtedly appeal to a diverse range of house music fans who appreciate a rather large nod to the underground. vinyl only.
axe on wax return for their 5th release with berliner monosoul who delivers a 3 track ep with remixes from iron curtis & leaves aka smpl and the new zealand boys now london based chaos in the cbd. essential deep house music not to be missed.
office 04 circles in memories: the record is about johannes * iron curtis* palukas time at karl-marx-straße berlin where he used to live next door to label head baaz and graphic designer chris fladung. a1 track * magnet* is an ecstatic piece of house music holding all elements ics production is esteemed and loved for : heavy, unrelenting kicks, rolling bass lines, shimmering pads, topped with searing hot yet gamelan-like synts and an icing of slightly loose, detuned organ stabs predesting grand emotions on any dance floor. * what happened happened* surely marks up as another proof of curtis fearless takes on house music: distorted field recordings and blurred spoken words, a web of gossamer melodies and subtle clicks and cuts, all cohered by the louche bassline and the reshuffled groove in a true dilla-ish vein. adapting elements to their own agenda, clandestine groove explorers berg turn * what happened* into a true midnight roller: razor-sharp hihitas join forces with a steam-maschine like percussion, whipping relentlessly in-between kick drum and kick drum. berg cools off their take with prancing melody motifs and strung out pads of the original track, though never loosing focus of the * reductions* aim: keep the dancer dancing.
iron curtis delivers his 2nd full 4 track ep for hudd traxx following up the huge stansfield ep in 2010. the opening track care demonstrates ics diversity as a producer as he lays down a killer bassline with melodic keys which will find its way into many big hitters bags. sing along with your friends has deep laid keys and an mcde esk feel to it accompanied by some heavy snares for good measure. flip for the b side and find shouting & screaming, a dark driving track that even spencer kinsey would be proud of.
the second instalment in midnight shifts remix series sees eddie niguel and juju & jordash put their magic touch on already well-received tracks by iron curtis (johannes paluka) and detroit veteran terrence parker.

nick woolfson makes a return under his akra guise to his fledgling teng imprint this june, with tunnelvision, backed with remixes from two heavy hitters in the world of deep electronic music, namely matthias vogt and iron curtis.

feelharmonic proudly welcomes birke tm to our label with his debut ep *oro jackson*. the young german producer steps up to the mark with the warm, extra-deep title track *oro jackson* leading the way followed by the storming *the white tree*, a cut created specifically with the underground party scene in mind, while *all star swing* is a gentler and emotional groover. when it came to remixing *oro jackson* we had only one man in mind, birke tms friend iron curtis who delivers a brighter and more soulful interpretation of the original.
midnight shift returns with its sophomore outing shift 002, presenting two artists recontextualised from the conventions from which they came: iron curtis from depths of the deep house realm and one ultrademon, the notorious inventor of the seapunk scene. once again, a notable split ep with each of the 4 tracks owning its unique place in the world.
after the well-received treats vol.4, retreat closes its 2012 chapter with a fantastic 4-tracker from house maestro iron curtis! following his accomplished debut album on mirau, glazing is a highly versatile ep which sees the producer breaking new ground while staying true to his inimitable style.
the second part of the >what about talk about< series by baaz starts with >owls night<. a deep house tool with a vigorous bassline, some classic 909 elements, weird vocals and a pumpin piano chord. >those things< the second track on the a, infects you with positive vibrations and the magic mood. the b side enters with a remix by the highly skilled producer michel bauman under his moniker soulphiction. he turned the track called k.m.s. into an emotional and strong kicking house tune. a cut for the special moments. the original is produced by iron curtis & baaz . 90 bpm, a dippy pipe organ, wooden beats and shaky percussions. the last track >whatabouttalkabout< is a lush experimental listening slice, prober for the dark and chilly winterdays.

after a long silence iron curtis returns with his magic. thoughts on is the producer’s debut single for 4lux. proper house and disco tracks! the original mix of thoughts on is a banging deep house joint with haunting melodies and cut up vocals. the 2012 version provides for a more jumping bassline and hard hitting straight forward beats. iron curtis goes mental on oh come on with his cut up and vibe-heavy jazz samples and heavy pounding 808 beats. relentless! on interlude in the park the lights are dimmed and the tempo drops. a slow disco burner for those who love slow jams.
tamed music had a flying start with their debut release (ft one of our favorite ripperton tracks and topped with a fresh skudge remix!). and no disappointment for the second release either! ripperton comes with another vocal track (vocals by van hai) that is more house orientated as the previous release, but still has that nice moody laidback vibe of the tmq001. almost dubby feel combined with the gentle voice of van hai makes it a standout release. comes with hot remix action of margaret dygas and iron curtis. sweet package ... expected to sell out as rapidly as the the first tamed music!
