the 12th chapter on eerie records is a 2 tracker by label owner marco shuttle himself. with the return to a more groovy and floor-friendly take than the abstract sound of his recently released lp the release maintains nonetheless the classic signiture deep landscapy approach the artist has made us used to with his production. tribal rhythmics, 808 grooves, underlayed pads and some slightly middle eastern reminiscent sonic elements make it for a record that although still on the leffield side, is 100% techno. anyone who loved sing like a bird will probably find this one very appealing. a very classic marco shuttle one indeed!
marco shuttle releasing his first solo album visione on his eerie label. having since released on clone, the bunker and time to express, this year has seen shuttle hard at work at his first entry into the lp format
first release on eerie that is not by his founder/owner marco shuttle, is by healing force project (antonio marini), another italian obscure electronic music producer who has already been delivering pure crystal quality on labels like acido, electronique and sequencias. the release has been defined by marco shuttle himself as a very diverse and hypnotic 4 tracker of electronica, spiritual jazz, psychedelic funk eclectically fused together for what is a very sophisticated and modern idea of techno do we need to say more?
i and donato always send each others the tracks we make and exchange feedbacks on what we do, but when he sent me this music for the first time for me it s been love at first listen in a way i had never experienced before with his music. i wasn t even thinking i would be the one to release it back then...
after a few months of silence following head honcho marco shuttles sing like a bird (reprise) ep, eerie records is back on duty with a strong and utterly refreshing techno release by talented artist serena butler, an obscure producer digged out of the submerged underworld as it already happened previously on shuttles imprint that got us used to releases by relatively unknown and underrated artists. arpeggiated synth lines layered on booming reverbed kick drums mixed with percussive elements of distorsion and lush pads make for a very playable release that is at the same time dreamy and deep, despite being also very organically open sounding, musical, and in many ways counter-trend and different to the dominating dark droning techno style that is so popular these days.
sing like a bird (reprise) is a fresh version of the track originally released last year on peter van hoesen s time to express label, to which shuttle fans will have become familiar with in recent sets. it maintains the original s hazy reverbed flavour, but in the form of a more groove-oriented and psychedelic edit that sidelines much of the original s vocal track in favour of a snake enchanter-like synewave melody, for a less lyrical but equally musical new take. the b-side back here is an older track that shuttle has been holding back for a while, waiting for the right moment to reveal this atmospheric, melancholic and melodic track, in which intricately delayed layers of piano keys progressively unfold through a rich percussive background made of 808 rims, deep bass kicks, heavy toms and jazzy hats and rides.
the eight single release on marco shuttles eeries delivers michal wolskis unthinkable otherwiseness ep which contains three deep, abstract, misterious compositions where wolski is seeking for the balance between subtle and more raw energy. each track is a meditative, drone-like trip into an area where there are more questions than answers. classic 808 drum set meets futuristic hazy drones, pads and deep bass lines. dance or/and contemplate!
after 2 blinding releases on lies and russian torrents, the italian uprising techno producer domenico crisci lands on fellow italian marco shuttles label eerie with some serious, 909 driven, stripped down techno biz. no matter how pretentious it might sound these are tracks that gravitate quite comfortably in a mills-esque kind of orbit but they somehow also remind of early downwards brutal material. label boss marco shuttle features in the ep with a remix of one of the tracks (lash) bringing the original into a more broken, abstract and dark (of course) territory.
marco shuttle and fellow italian techno legend donato dozzy team up for a duo project under the name anxur, a collaboration that combine two artits that certainly have a wide common ground when it comes to vision and musical aesthetics. the anxur takes vol.1 is the first instalment of the duos output, the release is a 2 tracker that have a strong esoteric feel as you could expect both from the label and from the artists involved but still maintaining quite a straight 4/4 dancefloor vibe
eerie returns... presumably with quite a few more ears attuned after the assured success of the vox attitude remix package. but its back to the script on this one, with three original brand new tracks of marco shuttles work. a very hypnotic, deep, athmospheric record as you would expect from the shuttle at his best.
eerie is back with a deluxe package of remixes of marco shuttles monster the vox attitude. previously out on the swedish label vidd the original (by now a classic vocal basement rave hit) is again featured on this stunning release, after big demand of repressing, together with 2 blinding remixes by joey anderson and pangaea
second installment on marco shuttles eerie is again a 2 tracker by himself. sticking to the deep cinematic hypnotic signature sound that has trademarked all his work so far, the london based italian producer delivers 2 long journeys of deep, dubby, detroit flavoured edm. both tracks have a subtle progression, building up gently from an intro initial part to a more dramatic core through very subtly arranged and modulated layers of sounds and subliminal melodic elements. hot!
after the well received clone s.o.s.>all around the fires< ep and his debut vidd 001, marco shuttle starts an adventure with his very own eerie records label. first trip is a great 3 track ep in marco s signature sound. deep, super deep acid & 808 driven grooves and dark dubby reverbed drums and dramatic strings. phat tracks that sometimes remind of early aphex twin works on the selected ambient works and surfing on sinewaves but then the marco shuttle way. dont sleep on this one! recommended.
