downfall theory embarks on a new chapter as it hosts a full release from a producer other than its owner, sanys. myztical isn�t exactly a newcomer though, and the ukrainian producer has already two releases to his credit on nicz records. given the title of his debut on downfall theory, it is no surprise to learn that myztical is using it as a means to question reality. inspired by the science fiction writer philip k dick and decades of electronic music, he certainly succeeds on venturing into uncharted territories on the title track. muffled, repetitive vocal samples, an atonal rhythm and relentless, slightly distorted kicks show that quite often, simplicity is the most potent ingredient. on �faith of our fathers�, myztical disappears farther down the wormhole. splintered rhythms, deranged howls and a deranged filter push his vision for broken beat techno into the abyss. �substance d� sees the ukrainian hotshot return to a more linear approach, pounding kicks underpin ghostly shrieks before a breakdown sees the track descend into grimy, woody mcbride-style acid. the accompanying vocal sample, the embodiment of a bad trip, only serves to accentuate the track�s darkly hallucinogenic qualities. finally, there�s �shifted realities� - it revisits the jagged filters of �faith of our fathers�, but does so against the backdrop of a pounding industrial kick and a grungy, low-slung rhythm.

daniele baldelli producer now has nothing to envy about daniele baldelli the dj. this is demonstrated by the authoritativeness of the first two 12�s of six in the series -cosmic temple� on the mondo groove label. what first strikes the eye are the covers, with fluorescent colors, which will form a patchwork created by aldo drudi (the designer of valentino rossi), a large mosaic that interprets garish aesthetics/logoa cosmic. but immediately after the music takes the stage: 3 tracks in -chapter 1- and 3 tracks in -chapter 2-, are able to tell the true mood of the imaginary baldelli�s sound and take them to a land of wonders. chapter 2: the phrasing of zircaloy, and still that yin and yang that composed krebs cycle, with burattini on synth, a race horse deep disco at 120 bpm that goes into stratospheres, and afelio, a lethargic space ballet at 90 bpm.

after a short break in releases, plastik people are back with the third installment of the various people. we see label owner marc cotterell up first with his slice of 90 s house music, incorperating slick grooves and catchy cut up vocals, along side mark on side a, a new addition to the plastik people family from london, charles caliber, who graces the ep with a stunning soulful house groove called moving on. on the flip side nyc artist doug gomez brings us a classic sounding, deep head nodding track which was originally releases on frole records and we loved it so much that we decided it needed a vinyl releases, to round off the release, we are very pleased to have mikki funk back on plastik people. he delivers us a splendid cut of uk garage, mikki funk has also previously released on rm records and music is love.

the house crime label debuts with this pearl of an ep by the new and exciting talents of steven bc and vrrs. the duo come through dangerously correct with their first release, and -functionz- is an instant hit, one of those tunes that has managed to find the perfect balance between drums and bass, melodies and vocals - a true old-school a-side for the heads. on the flip, -utukmylife (on the dancefloor)- is more speed garage than house, and the two producers pack another mean punch with this total banger, -house will remember-, on the other hand, is a real piece of chicago magic, a classic us house anthem with a rolling pile of drums, a huge swarm of bass and the right level of tape distortion. excellent
