ltd to 275 copies - for the eighth release on roberto’s fossil archive imprint, a very special collaboration which was produced by roberto and the late trevino (aka marcus intalex) shortly before his tragic passing in 2017 is poised. the release features three original cuts, along with a previously unreleased remix roberto put together of ‘black cat’ which featured on trevino’s album ‘front’. the music speaks for itself. however, to honour marcus, a short poem has been put together by one of his closest friend’s.
leading lady and artistic talent deniz kurtel returns to crosstown rebels to explore new production sounds, venturing deeper into the realms of dub and beyond with the fifth house. it’s also with huge honour that the release includes a stunning remix from highly sophisticated producer trevino following his recent passing. since her first album music watching over me was released on crosstown rebels back in 2011, deniz kurtel has continued to push boundaries creatively through her art and music. focusing on led light installation, deniz has travelled the world with her stunning live show, which incorporates both of her talents. her second album the way we live dropped on wolf + lamb in 2012 which received high acclaim. more recent releases have also appeared on rumors and no.19. marcus julian kaye is better known by his drum and bass stage name marcus intalex, and also his house and techno pseudonym trevino. he founded the record labels soul:r, revolve:r and birdie which served as a platform for his music with notable recent releases also on the likes hotflush, the nothing special, aus music and klockworks. such a highly respected figure in the industry, many have been shaken by marcus’ passing and in his honor all profits from his remix will be donated to the charity of his family’s choice.
one half of laszlo dancehall with leon vynehall, christian piers returns to duskys 17 steps with three tracks of machine driven music aimed at the dancefloor. leading with the heavyweight techno of detachment, the package also includes the dark mechanical rhythms of expanse and drum workout strain, as well as trevinos stripped back dub techno interpretation of detachment.
btaim resumes its line of raw techno templates with a pair of stripped-back but funked-up floor killers. promising berlin-upstart tecture draws inspiration both from his hometown as well as detroit, delivering two highly effective yet emotive club weapons. their bold basement vibe may seem grim on the surface, but they glimmer with hope underneath. it is this very interplay between murk and melancholy that embodies the record with dynamic textures and a narrative. in similar fashion trevino pairs imposing low end rumble and bright arps, reworking the title track into his own dnb-reminiscent signature style. with the addition of btaim006 to their catalogue, both artist and label have placed themselves on this year‘s watch lists for sure.
canadian paolo rocco kickstarts the new year with his ,,,judgement ep on hot creations. the first release of 2017 is an international affair, with manchester born trevino and one of the most spoken names of last year, greece native detlef on remix duties. initially making a name for himself through his djing skills back home in montreal, paolo s productions entered the market in 2012 with instant international support. his releases on real tone, one records, saved and others were all met with high acclaims as were the compilations he mixed for defected and get physical. the creation of, ‘judgement’ and ‘that’s it’ prove paolo truly understands what works on the dance floor. 2016 saw detlef reach new heights whilst also debuting on hot creations with his ‘kinky tail’ ep. he returns to the label with a devastating edit of ‘judgement’ and his rolling signature sound. trevino aka marcus intalex ,,,ramps up the ep with his remix, centred around shimmering high hats and a freaky groove. a champion of how a dj can achieve success in two different genres, trevino has released on several of the most praised drum & bass and techno labels for a number of years.
simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. roberto knows how to work with simplicity and make it sound sophisticate at the same time, this is dream of a solo a timeless cut that will be usefull in many occasions. 2 more cuts and a trevino remix make the work.
THE WHY QUESTION (INCLUDING TREVINO REMIX) (180 GRAM)
12" Vinyl UK01.11.16
laura jones unveiled her new label sensoramic in may with sam and karousel cutting the opening tape in appropriate style. for the second release laura delivers her first ep since 2014. after taking time out to experiment in the studio and refine her style, the why question marks an evolution in the uk producer s output delivering two incendiary underground club cuts ably remixed by trevino and u-more. two veterans working under aliases, trevino is of course better known as legendary drum n bass producer marcus intalex who has more recently found a home for his 4/4 output on klockworks, the nothing special and his own label, birdie. u-more is italian veteran and berliner, ivan iacobucci, fresh from releasing on apollonia and a slew of underground minimalist labels who delivers a late night acid laden afterhours workout to compliment trevino s big room counterpart.
following the release of his debut album as trevino earlier this year, marcus ‘intalex’ kaye marks his first notch on the hotflush bedpost with a plucky four-track ep, wearing all the stripes that an artist of his experience and versatility has earned. kaye’s four-to-the-floor productions as trevino have always possessed a latent sheen from the dynamic world of drum and bass where he first made his name. here it’s evident in the impeccably balanced mix of lead track, ‘slide away’, where forlorn melody is driven as much by bass as it is by liquid chords. the tempo is upped on ‘mosaic’ - a techno record that follows an uplifting path - and on desecrate it’s in fifth gear with a bass line that rolls and grows and bangs and rolls. the high-speed, echo chamber dub of ‘jungle love rounds off an ep of notable range.
trevino aka marcus intalex joins recent aus signings recloose and cassy with his casino ep. marcus intalex is widely known for making ground breaking drum and bass. in 2011 he started the trevino alias to feed his desire to get back to his roots and rekindle his 4 to the floor spirit. this new phase of his career propelled him to move to berlin where hes continued to develop a hugely impressive discography thats included releases on ben klocks klockworks and martyns 3024. casino brings together three deftly structured and dance floor focused tracks that blur the boundary between house and techno in true trevino fashion.
trevino is marcus intalex. he is widely known for making underground drum and bass
so here they are, 9 tracks, aimed squarely at the floor. nothing too arsey or technical or intellectual, just 8 solid dancefloor cuts plus one short beatless thing to help make them all fit onto the vinyl..
last magpie makes his electric minds debut with the *influences* ep in april. the eps three original tracks combine the producers knack for punchy uk club tracks with elements of the pioneering electronic music that have informed his music tastes. inspirations from classic hardcore, jungle and garage loom large on ep opener *mirdad*, while *pledge* takes things on an electro tip with nods to the sounds leading mid-2000s exponents. *i love me* juxtaposes light and moody elements for a heavier take on disco and chicago house, while the ep is completed by a sublime trevino remix, as the soulr boss reshapes *pledge* into the kind of tough, hypnotic house he has made his forte.
quite literally kicking mad new flavour in your ear, smd are back with the 4th course in their recent series of delicacies. after collaborations with bicep and cosmin trg, and their own solo tong zi dan ep, this new smorgasbord features two original tracks
every label has a >release of doom<, a 12 inch that was an incredible pain in the ass to put together and where everything imaginable went wrong. well this new trevino record was it! i wont go into details but this ep is too good to let bad karma prevail. >gone< has been a staple in my sets ever since i first heard it and >regnie< is possibly one of the best nighttime highway driving tracks (try it!). trevino, is he the best golfer in techno, or the most innovative techno producer on the golf circuit? fact is, im so happy this record finally sees the light of day and would be even happier if youd be into it too...
following on from the success of their debut release baia 2012, hailed by influential critic and blogger philip sherburne as one of the top 50 records of the year so far, secretsundaze resident and co founder james priestley and studio partner marco antonio return with speed
this twentieth 3024 release is by my friend trevino. i am particularly proud to put this out because it was trevino (aka marcus intalex), who signed my very first tracks and gave me my break back in 2005 (a 12 inch called get down on his label revolve:r). in the last two years he has started taking his techno more seriously, writing new tracks at a very fast pace. i am glad people are taking notice of his music cos he is the real deal and it was tough picking tracks for this release cos he is making so many! ultimately we chose four that would clearly showcase marcus different sides and styles. so, seven years after my >get down<, i am proudly presenting the mighty trevino with his >tactical manoeuvre ep<.
trevino aka marcus intalex has been wowing all and sundry with his tight detroit / chicago / whoknoswhere take on uk bass music. his early tracks like >chip< on martyns 3024 and >derelict< on naked lunch, showed tough, melodic, techno and electro were back on the menu, but filtered thru the mind and ears of a man who was been releasing fresh uk music since 1994. appleblim was amongst the first to hear and start playing trevino’s new cuts, and has seen him go from strength to strength.
eearly dj / radio support already from: martyn, loefah, 2562, scuba, mary anne hobbs, oneman, rob booth, rob da bank, ben ufo, pearson sound, axel boman, distal, objekt, synkro ...
trevino is the alter-ego of marcus intalex. the discovery brings a variety of styles to this one ep and paves the way for a return of soulrs sister label revolve:r. plays from scuba, loefah, martyn, 2562, appleblim, paul woolford, dj pete, etc.
trevino is the name marcus intalex has adopted for his ventures into house and techno productions. trevino music has been receiving heavy praise and support from top players in the 120-130bpm electronic music scene including scuba, oneman, loefah, & alexander nut. following his first releases for martyns 3024 label and naked lunch, this is his debut release for craig richards label.
pressed on purple vinyl. back fresh for 2012 we are proud to present our next release from none other than trevino a.k.a marcus intalex.
dj support from: martyn, 2562, loefah, boddika, d-bridge, jon convex, detroit in effect, mark pritchard, untold, ikonika, addison groove and many more.
fresh from the pleasures of introducing jon convex to the world, 3024 heads off on a pair of tangents for the next project. the 14th release marks the labels first split 12 inch - a result of 2 tracks falling in to their collective lap that were too good to wait for individual releases. despite the 2 very different acts involved, the symmetry in both musical background and production methodology makes for a record as coherent as any in the labels back catalogue, with both artists closely linked to both 3024 and martyns career.
dusky’s 17 steps present floor to floor. featuring tracks from velvit, trevino, lo shea, hugo massein and alan fitzpatrick, floor to floor compiles 12 tracks that approach the modern house and techno aesthetic with a uk edge.
a passion for techno has always run deeply through his music and under his trevino moniker he is also a powerful creative force (check his recent front album to get the full picture). here, he takes transmission breakdown on a magical excursion, filled with subtle, hypnotic, evolving energy, anchored with an irresistible pul- sating bassline throb - a perfectly synergetic interpretation to round off jona s sidetracking album prologue in style.
dnb associate, good friend, headonist, and culinary expert george levings is the second member of dnb super group commix to wander astray from the confines of 170 bpm. as endian he has forged himself a very credible reputation as an adept creator of underground dance music. these four offerings will further advance his credentials. with its sonic roots nicely split between chicago, detroit, london and manchester this ep has a nice balance between old and new. there are 3 tracks he has produced individually and a forth he did with label boss trevino. enjoy...
canadian producer kevin mcphee has already released an assured and consistent schedule of records since 2011, cropping up on strong independent labels such as idle hands, demolition man (with gerry read), wncl recordings and our own hypeltd (2011s blue organ ep). so its a return to hypercolour for mr. mcphee, with the boris ep, with added clout from a superb trevino remix.
great follow up of dolly dubs 01! once again staffan lindberg is delivering. his nice & smooth the orbit is a great & optimistic club track that will have the sun shine on any floor, with the mighty trevino remix adding a slightly rough edge to the original version. but dont let the easy-going fool you! the b-side dives in deeper territories with y2k that reminds a bit of early kevin saunderson works, and feel like dancing, which is a proper sexy house burner for the morning hours. wonderful & diverse release.
the sub:stance vinyl only box set marks the 5th anniversary and final edition of the sub:stance night at berghain, marking its passing with 7 exclusive tracks by artists who have been central to its sound and prints of the legendary flyer artwork used to promote each event. sub:stance was the collision of two worlds – the vitality of uk bass music intertwined with berghain and all its sensory exhilaration and unique atmosphere....
sepalcure follow up last years critically acclaimed lp on hotflush recordings with a new ep featuring remixes from kevin mcphee and trevino (a.k.a. marcus intalex), alongside one previously released album cut and one original track.
paul rose, aka scuba, the mastermind behind the incredibly well curated hotflush label, has been enlisted to create his own dj-kicks mix. featuring a healthy helping of exclusives from his camp including new music from addison groove & boddika, the mix treads the line between the uk bass music scene in which scuba came up, and the techno sounds dominant in his current home of berlin, creating a new sound in the process.
