essential tech-house interpretation of the jazz standard! tip ! at the core of >take five< is a warm, fluttering piano loop that wouldnt sound out of place on a nina simone record. around these rich, faintly jazzy chords, jona builds a thrillingly direct, percussive track which nods to the passion and polish of classic 90s house music. a shuffling snare pattern and a tough, buoyant kickdrum combine with the keys to give the dancefloor a workout it wont forget. this is smart, optimistic stuff from jona, a ready-made soundtrack for hands in the air at late summers parties. >sunset< is a darker but no less seductive affair. its skeleton is a supple, minimalist groove, undercut with a raw, rangy bassline, and topped by tight snares and a steady, sibilant rush of hi-hats.
the mojuba sublabel welcomes a new artist to the family. tob jona is one half of the unique sounders department project, the guys are well known to the true detroit-techno lovers, way back in the 90’s they delivered some of the finest tracks with that special motown feel. this ep brings us three fresh and very deep tunes each with its own exceptional sound-character! be sure that every one will find his treasure on here, the dancer, the dreamer and the visionary!
jona is back with manta: a sick, expertly crafted new e.p. for get physical music. 24-year-old belgian jonathan troupin s true arrival on the house and techno block his debut 12- for get physical, the learnings. since then, he s chalked up another acclaimed e.p. for physical, tizia, not to mention assorted releases for labels like fumakilla and resopal red, and high profile remixes for michal ho, soffy o, daso and labelmates booka shade and m.a.n.d.y. jona doesn t mess about: title track manta immediately establishes itself as a no-holds-barred, peaktime club weapon, with a hard, pure-of-purpose kickdrum taking centre stage while kinetic drum edits and pressurized fx patter in, out and around it. a dizzying synth motif adds to an already mind-bending brew, while each successive build and drop ravishes the listener into submission. this is music to immerse yourself in, for sure, but above all it s music to really, really dance to. at this point you might expect the pace to let up, but b-side amon is a similarly hectic, energetic cut. all rolling bassline, acidic synth cycles, crisp percussion, jump-up vocal samples and surging narcotic effects, amon is a blast of magnificently controlled chaos for the party s more intense moments. the 12- draws to a close with exoplanet dub a no less formidable but certainly more spacious club track. its addictive, zig-zagging melodies reminding us of the more playful side to jona s music. with manta, jona furnishes us with three vehement yet elegant tracks guaranteed to turn a dancefloor near you inside out

fumakilla venture in international artist directions this time. up is newcomer jonathan troupin aka jona (upcoming releases on get physical music, etc), who delivers an easy (not leightweight!) , clean and highly usable ultrasturdy clicked out dance floor 2 tracker. >operation o< and >monjey money< are both extremely well crafted ventures into pounding crunchy and hi densed fluffy minimal house. a cutting edge techfunk eclectism with high presence which has to be his signature sound by now and the sound system you play this on can just not be big enough. jona tracks catch you from >outside in<, intense storming bleeped out electro house freakiness, with enough variation & stamina for a true dance floor bonanza!!
all day i dream returns for another summer sampler with seasonal tunes from the likes of jonas rathsman, sébastien léger, volen sentir, leo grünnbaum, yokoo, and more. wonderous pads, delicate percussion, and soft voicings cohesively blend the 9-track compilation into a spectacle of aural bliss, weaving between dancefloor friendly and the more sonically relaxing tracks under adid’s signature modus operandi...
