the maghreban has been making dusty house music for a couple of years now and has put a few records out on his own imprint zoot and also on versatile records. some people have liked this. the maghreban found a bunch of old cassette tapes at his dads house. one said alex july 84′,,, on it. this tape was from alexandria, egypt in the summer of 1984. it had some interesting music recorded on it. the maghreban sampled a few of the tracks to make this one.

technosoul .03 comes from blazej malinowski, who has previously released on swedish phorma and canadian silent season amongst others. mika and open closed open might serve as blazej s sound signature deeply rooted, hypnotic techno with a trance edge, which works both on the dancefloor and in comfort of one s home. remix number one comes from the legendary british dj and producer steve bicknell, whose take on mika is raw and very dense at once it serves as the most brutal piece of music on the release. remix number two comes from the mad ukrainian stanislav tolkachev, whose vision strikes as a real surprise. instead of his usual beats stampede, he has provided the record with a beautiful, ethereal offbeat techno: this won t probably work as a peak time monster, but with a proper audience, it will have a mesmerizing effect!

italian rudeboy ivan iacobucci brings his brand of lowdown funk-influenced tech house to apollonia with this sterling three-tracker. over two decades of hard work and dedication to his craft has culminated in ivans untainted reputation and widespread respect within the underground from true heads like zip and, of course, the apollonia boys. his love of jazz in evident throughout this ep which is full of subtlety and depth, pulsating b-lines and smooth chords are interlaced with razor-sharp percussion and delicate keys. the first track old in on has a laid back, though driving, groove, pushing forward with a hefty bassline that is perfectly counterbalanced by the light twinkling keys and barely-there pads. scris frumos encapsulates more of an ominous, tribal feeling with intricate effects trickling through every pore of its deep, dark exterior. its atmospherics keep you intrigued, voices echo in the background and a few moments of softened chimes really intensify the already mysterious vibe. mini ass channels more of that electro-funk that forms the foundation of ivans love for music, haywire radio pulses prance around stuttered beats, giving it a slightly cosmic feel, while pipes add a more organic nuance to the track. absolutely masterful work from ivan, and another inspired addition to the apollonia catalogue.
