high mobility weapons unit sets off from an unknown location on earth, making its maiden voyage beyond our solar system and towards a distant galaxy. the transverse velocity ep is the debut release on the self-titled imprint, serving up four original tracks that are heavily influenced by mechanical cycles and deep space concepts. the a-side kicks off with the eps title track transverse velocity, where an array of eroded satellite bleeps and waves loop together as the analogue low-end pulsates rhythmically below. in wave 102 the bleeps are detuned and erratically timed, with a glitchy tape delay unit modulating them throughout the track. the saturated 808 kick drum and processed percussion are given a functional structure, allowing the bleeps to take centre stage. on the b-side, both cycle 01 and astronomy tool serve as stripped-back percussive dj tools. cycle 01 rolls along with its hollow, muted polyrhythmic stab line, whilst astronomy tool drives forward with an effective, crystalline synth hit. mastered by black monolith studios.

following up his recently-released remixes of scubas single >the hope< on hotflush, plagent records boss recondite returns to the label, this time with a solo 12 inch titled drgn / wist 365. recalling some of the moodiest moments from >on acid<, his recent lp devoted to the sounds of the 303, this debut shows recondite stay true to his sombre and tension-inducing roots. >drgn<, the sonic equivalent to traversing a bleak end-of-times landscape, is a journey replete with a relentless, melodic sib-bass and vibrating synth, on the flip recondite gives the 9-minute long >wist 365< a drum workout, resulting in a progressive, menacing groove, awash with wind chimes and 808 claps.

mystery man l.f.t. delivers the second ep for woodwork. his poignant debut wood002 includes three original tracks and a remix by benedikt frey. a1 is a dreamy rhodes journey roughened up by distorted 808 sounds. a2 is a melodic house track with a bubbly bassline juxtaposed against crunchy drums. on the flipside, b1 will take you into a laid-back acid house trip fueled by tons of escorial. benedikt frey then twists the track into a trippy techno journey on b2.

back at it again, taking the true essence of the “jacking” sound of chicago house and putting it’s own stamp on it is what obsolete music technology has done with their new 12&#8243,, entitled, “volatile.” warbling, wobbling, distorting, sinisterly acidic basslines abound is the best way to describe this release! for dance floors only! you have been warned! “volatile” starts off with some 707 drums intro and then fading in, is this tripped out, bubbling bass sound that sends you off a cliff! just when you think that’s all to the track, dark, melancholic pads comes in for added atmos-fear! rounding out the a-side is “killin,” with it’s 2 acid style basslines, one sounding at a high octave and the other at a lower octave. riffs playing separately sounding great, but when played together, there is something slightly, mentally off. on the b-side, “broken siren” is high energy! 808 tom drums bringing the funky low end while a short, electronic piano lick drenched in warm, fuzzy, flange effect. setting it off is a decayed sine wave, mimicking an actual alarm sound. lastly, “electric current” best describe this distorted acid bassline and its tweaking filter and resonance controls over jacking 808 drums

ronald burrell s reputation as deep house royalty has long been solidified throughout the years having released on many legendary labels since the late 80 s including nervous, nu-groove, strictly rhythm & many more. working both solo and alongside his brother rheji his output has always caught the interest and ears of dance music aficionados world-wide with a heady mixture of gospel, soul / r&b, jazz, & garage heavily informing his sound. surprising as it is, -it s a boy- was never released, only ever existing as a test pressing! the 4 track ep takes in all the musical influences listed above and flips them into some seriously deep territory. opener -journey- is an epic jam punctuated by an 808 cowbell, beautiful pads, strings and ronald s voice asking us to join him on a journey through our own minds. second cut -feelin jazzy- picks up the pace a little, a stripped back rhythm blessed with some choice, chopped up jazz samples and vocal stabs keeps things moving in the right direction. over on side-b we are treated to the deepest groove of -bedtime story-, which has all the trademarks of a classic burrell production, soulful vocals, melodies and crisp drum programming. closing track -the crib- rounds things with off with a stomping church inspired organ groove, an up-lifting end to the ep. as mentioned above, this is the very first time this underground house classic has ever been released! this record is a real collectors piece and has commanded collectors prices on-line in the past, a real rarity. it has been re-mastered and re-pressed in conjunction with ronald burrell from his original dat tapes and all original label artwork has been preserved.

a lot of water has passed under the bridge since the release of etienne jaumet’s night music, dating from october 2009. his hypnotizing music and enchanting live performances put him directly on the map. it’s just him who is in control of his ship. he moves without complexes from his saxophone to his drum machine (his beloved tr 808) while turning knobs modulating synths, and sending his voice through an echo.la visite, etienne’s brand new album, more luminous and jazzy than its predecessor, has been composed and produced within a two month period in the versatile studio. it became a piece of introspection, mentally as well as physically. in the title track, for which flop wrote the text, we hear etienne travelling through the inside of a body, fantastic voyage style.it is always surprising to see a record taking shape. etienne would arrive at the studio without any precise idea in head, approaching his work rather intuitively. he works standing up, which brings a very different energy than being seated behind a computer polishing up every detail. he is in total mastery of his set-up, ready to capture that short-lived moment of true creation. the only use a computer has for him, is to record his experiments - afterwards being mixed by jerome caron (blackjoy).in between night music and la visite, etienne has not been lazy. not only has he done numerous collaborations (amongst others with joakim, richard pinhas, francois & the atlas mountain) and picked up djing, he has also recorded a new zombie zombie album (rituels d’un nouveau monde) with cosmic neman, as well as the soundtrack loubia hamra. and he worked with artist felicie d estienne d orves on the installation satori. at this very moment, etienne and his saxophone are still part of the tour of james holden.

pareidolia is a new project thinked for the electro modular lovers, the vinyl only record label debuts with the first ep from the wonderboy of the london modular alliance, pip williams! focused on the acid sound and 808 infected electro grooves, this ep rappresents the perfect essence of the spirit of pareidolia.

following eomac’s debut album “spectre” on killekill, released earlier this year, here come remixes of the three most outstanding track sof the album. tommy four seven picked the title track spectre, taking away some of the dense texture of the original, speeding it up a bit and adding some straight-forward percussion to turn the original into a big anthem for the mellow moments on the dancefloor. lars stöwe aka anstam is using his anno stamm-alias to rip the distorted bassline of the grimey su riddim out and add some playful bassline variations and some serious 808 business to it to turn it into a peaktime banger with lots of chicago flavour. and do what they do best and turn shell of dark into a half-tempo stomper that after a while breaks up to a devastating weapon of distorted drums and melodies.

the bird and white noise invites to join the travels, and in its long arches and bridges it can easily be listened to as a whole. while the opener or eskimono feature the rather lyrical side of the duo, tracks like land ab neu or chitin set more punchy priorities to a heavy bass and 808 drums. chitin is a late climax of the al- bum, building up for minutes to a massive groove in an insect-like, abstract sound world, leaving just enough space for romantic cello lines to break through in the middle. the record has been released exclusively in japan for the duos tour in april 2014 via pingipungs partner label nightcruising in kyoto. pingipung now releases the lp version and the cd worldwide.
