youth stand up! is a collaborative recording project between glasgows green door studio, lebeha drumming center in hopkins, belize, and the tafi cultural institute based in tafi atome, ghana. the results of the collaboration are this nine track album released on autonomous africa. all proceeds from the youth stand up! album sales will be split between tuteme band, belize and tafi cultural institute’s fund to build their recording studio and cultural centre. there will be two 12inches released in late 2015 / early 2016 featuring remixes of tracks from the album by jd twitch, midland, auntie flo and hodge. the 12inches will eau also include an additional bonus track recorded at the original sessions.

dead fader returns with new ep sun copter, which precedes a forthcoming full length album. *sun copter* introduces a new sound as dead fader s pallet gains new range and depths, using analogue technologies in conjunction with the digital techniques he is well known for. dead fader is the alter ego of john cohen, former brighton resident, now in berlin, who has worked relentlessly since 2007 to realise his vision of electronic music. his tracks are characterised by pioneering sound explorations, which on one hand oscillate between sonic extremities and on the other hand carefully craft cinema-scope sound worlds. the vinyl release includes a downloadcode.

100% dynamite explores the links between reggae, jazz, funk and soul. the album is jam-packed with reggae tunes that have crossed-over and become cult dancefloor hits in clubland such as >greedy g<, >rocksteady< and >granny scratch scratch<. fourteen tracks of music that show the influence that american jazz, funk and soul music has had on jamaican reggae. the proximity of the west indies to the usa meant that many jamaican musicians would continue to be influenced by american styles of music whilst at the same time continuing to define new styles of their own such as ska, rocksteady and dub.

stix records is a sub-division of favorite recordings, recently launched with a first official single by taggy matcher birdy & nixon (stix033), who pleased us with two reggae-rocksteady renditions of the famous black keys. precisely specialized in the exercise of producing covers with a reggae twist, the new label presents his first album entitled *disco reggae*. many artists faithful to the stable of favorite recordings and its various sub-labels are invited for the occasion: the dynamics, blundetto, grandmagneto, 7 samurai, john milk or taggy matcher. all came and brought their respective touch to this first compilation, with among other things some of the rarest titles from their big single records’ years, but also 4 new and exclusive productions. each of them delivers a great disco-reggae version of classic hits by some artists as diverse as madonna, herbie hancock, justin timberlake, the commodores, the o jays, curtis mayfield, harry nilsson or sugarhill gang. whatever the genre or the period, nothing can resist their inventiveness and creativity, to the point sometimes we confuse between originals and covers. everything is remastered and cut at carvery records (uk), known for their expertise in caribbean and disco music. the vinyl lp comes in a deluxe version, housed in an old-school tip-on jacket.

theyre young and tough, and especially wonderful too, easily one of the most compelling harmony soul groups to ever hail from the windy city! the sets a chicago soul gem from the early 70s, recorded with a laidback, slightly tripped-out vibe thats different than the tighter styles of other groups from the same scene, definitely righteous at points, with some of the superbad modes you might hear from an east coast lineup like the delfonics or soul generation, especially when they were trying to get a bit more conscious in their message. arrangements are great – handled by tom tom washington, eugene record, and cliff davis, very much at the best brunswick mode, but again with a deeper sort of vibe too. the title cuts a monster, and a very fitting follow-up to their earlier sly, slick, & wicked track – and the album features 2 versions (vocal and instrumental) of a cut called this is the lost generation, a very righteous soul groove with a heavy production tip.

vactrol park is an honest outpouring of thematic obsession, a celebration of championed studio components and the mastery of their nuance, an avant garde collaboration between kyle martin (land of light, spectral empire) and guido zen (gamers in exile, brain machine). simply entitled i (the first of a 2 part series), this debut ep opens the door to a world of ebb and flow, layers of oscillation falling in and out of sync, keeping us on the brink of vertigo and, as cliché as it may sound, we find solace in its chaos. this homogeneous release plays with the notions of systems as beautifully symbolized mario hugo s capsule of cardiologyyet another visually arresting module in the esp institute catalogue. some music is made for drugs, some is made on drugs, these tracks simply are drugs.

his desert brothers ep, consists of 3 tracks, hide, withdrawal and, of course, desert brothers. it’s not easy to classify the ep in a specific music genre. all 3 tracks have a very distinctive drums programming and groovy bass. they could be easily played in a big club during the peak time of a set or at a dark basement during the after hours. they have this strange deepness that calms you down but at the same time the first kick after the break easily gets your fist up.
here at the genial headquarters, we always try to find the balance between things, people, relationships, music and maybe stefan dichev has just done that with his desert brothers ep… he found the balance!

2019 repress! the pan-american highway is a network of roads measuring about 48.000 kilometres (30.000 mi) in total length. except for a rainforest break of approximately 100 km (60 mi), called the darién gap, the road links almost all of the mainland nations of the americas in a connected highway system. according to guinness world records, the pan-american highway is the world s longest -motorable road-. however, because of the darién gap, it is not possible to cross between south america and central america by road. the pan-american highway passes through many diverse climates and ecological types, from dense jungles, to arid deserts, some of which are passable only during the dry season, and in many regions driving is occasionally hazardous. jake silverstein, writing in 2006, described the pan-american highway as -a system so vast, so incomplete, and so incomprehensible it is not so much a road as it is the idea of pan-americanism itself-.

we started the classic series featuring tracks that we love, bought, played out and which we have the feeling more people should know about them. for this third, it is a great honor for us to welcome such a living legend, a pioneer from kalamazoo, michigan (city right in the middle between chicago and detroit): jay denham aka fade ii black. his style is a unique blend of these two worlds - chicago house and detroit techno, with a kalamazoo touch. he stays true to the underground, makes the music for the art of it and always remembers where he comes from.

vanila is a new born label based in athens greece, its purpose is to explore the relationship between sound, blashphemy and anomaly. the first release is coming from sawf, the athenian producer known from his releases on perc trax, modal ananlysis and code is law. the release includes four original tracks that capture perfectly the wide range of his production skills and the sound of a newly shaped scene in the greek capital.

the dance is the result of a long lasting musical love affair between kontra-musik s ulf eriksson and sebastian mullaert (aka minilogue). as most love affairs, it started off as an exciting experiment: ulf would play records and sebastian would bring out his music gear and play a live set. as they were touring with this live concept, their sounds started to really integrate, and after one especially fine night at trouw, amsterdam, ulf and sebastian decided it was time to conceive the dance. once the decision was taken, everything else came naturally. the dance was to be recorded live, in one take, at kontra-musik s home field inkonst, malmo, sweden.

throwing rave parties since 2011, the bp collective has been founded with the objective of bringing a new breath to the french underground techno scene. in the bp tag und nacht” parties the visual universe tends to merge with the sound. each of the two stages has something different to tell: tag for the open air, nacht for the dark and smoky room. this project is based on the belief that the story told by sound depends on the visual atmosphere in which it is played. indeed this very first ep is built between those two atmospheres, the 4 tracks of the ep could be played in any of the two scenes tag or nacht with a totally different impact on the audience. on the tag stage, both of the tracks are colorful, atmospheric and dynamic whereas on the nacht stage, they become dark, trippy and powerful. this record is the first release of the two artists x1000 on the a side and vidock on the b side. both of them are part of the bp collective since the beginning, they draw their influences from the 90s detroit and belgium techno and trance scene. its difficult not to think about artists like the martian, model 500, robert leiner or the whole r&s label while listening to these 4 tracks.
