SORRY FOR THE VIOLENCE EP
its been six months since we enjoyed the freshest sounds from dissonant boss marc antona. the release of his darwin ep for truesoul and our heavily supported in flagranti ep, bookended april of this year and saw marc preparing for his summer residency in ibiza.
with the strains of re-ups freedom still ringing loud in our ears, dissonant prepare to unleash their first slice of summer goodness, a new two track selection from leix. the valencia born, barcelona resident has been exciting dancefloors of his home nation for the past fifteen years, regularly sharing the decks with the worlds leading spinners. with a preoccupation with fusing styles and sounds, a trait that is obvious in his own productions, leix ensures that his own work remains consistently fresh. the novo music boss own productions have already found the support of many of the biggest names in the industry and have seen their release on labels including fumakilla, monza, barraca music, inmotion music, melisma and more. his akane ep is leixs first excursion on dissonant and what a way to kick things off. lead cut akane is as perfect a fit as they come. a locked tight groove, devilish kick and a bubbling acid line that tricks us throughout with its undeviating trajectory. on the flip dumnezeu continues in similar fashion. an understated bassline pulses throughout, as a snare rasps and hats glisten a spoken vocal preaches. the gospel of the dancefloor.
having kicked off 2012 with stunning eps from tini and himself, dissonant boss marc antona looks to the labels italian arm as leo & omar, aka. re-up, step up with their latest double-header.
having been wowed by tinis dissonant debut, label chief marc antona returns with his first new work since the november release of his fantastic long-player,rules of madness.a brand new double-header from the frenchman is lead by in flagrante. joining forces with aber costa, the pair present yet another joyful example of marcs innate ability to harness the most exotic of grooves whilst showering us with a dizzying array of sounds and samples.its nordic conversation is wrapped in beautiful organic percussion,as handclaps and rubbery basslines ripple throughout before ghostly chains ring out the closing beats.ipso facto on the flip is a pure example of stripped back house.beats, hats and an elasticated filtered riff open the show before the snare rolls usher in from the depths a throbbing wave of bass.
SMOOHS & RAISIN THEORY (INCL MARC ANTONA RMX)
smoohs raisin theory, her debut for dissonant, is the first of tinis new productions and whilst the freshness of a new moment is evident in this funk driven number, her youth as a drummer and the early influences of a certain moodymann, can all be heard in the warm rhythms of the original. label boss marc antona takes the original on a trip with his outback mix. creating an ethereal atmosphere with his deep pulsing drums and bringing the vocal to the fore, marc creates a special moment for the floor. dissonants italian arm, re-up keep the funk and drive, whilst adding an array of crisp, clean percussion.

NOT THE FOOL EP / REBOOT REMIX
there is always an air of excitement in the office when the new dissonant drops with us. it may only be on its third release but marc antonas wonderfully fresh new imprint is making waves, and for all the right reasons. theres no relentless pr entertaining, popular genre chasing or laptop-loving >live< collectives here. no fuss, no bluster, just incredible music.
THE OWL EP
the owl, like its namesake, sits in the shadows. its deep, dubby bassline lazily rolls along, as our franco-italian alliance layer their percussive elements. string stabs usher in the smooth-keyed break, before that weighty bass drops back in. on the flip, txarco brings a sinister, somewhat industrial brand of funk, provided brilliantly by its growling, predatory bassline. as scything sounds, breathy vocals, and a variety of drums rolls lunge from the darkness, and fade just as quickly, we are constantly guarded by our bassline protector.
this summer, marc antona introduces a brand new label: dissonant. marc turns his efforts to a new platform for solo productions and collaborations. having honed his talents on records for mobilee, highgrade, micro-fibres (his former label) and more, marc uses this first release as an occasion to show what hes got: tight, percussive, spirit-full music that dives deep, without ever losing technos innovative lines and motorik intensity.>rootz< sets the tone with an agile, high-stepping groove full of bells and smooth but very effective drums, the sparkling high end contrasts with an almost overwhelming sub-bass throb.
