native new yorker son of sound aka henry maldonado returns to delusions of grandeur with another fine ep including two floor-friendly originals plus a stripped back remix from aroop roy. for those too young to have been buying records in the early 90’s henry was a key figure, involved in seminal releases on strictly rhythm as house 2 house, maxi records as deja vu and maw records as rhythm section. to say this guy has history is something of an understatement having made an important contribution to the first wave of deep house with productions dating right back to ’91. more recently he has created magic for jus ed’s underground quality, classic, razor n tape and local talk as well as establishing his own district30 imprint.

so, after a little break we’re back with a new release. this time we’re joined by the multi-talented production powerhouse that is swarm intelligence (aka simon hayes). landing heavy with four bruising techno cuts that each find their own unique way of taking your head off, ear017 is a bumpy journey through darker club flavours. ‘flatlands’ opens things up, reminiscent of the type of marching, granite-heavy brum techno of old – this is minimal in construction but maximum in its impact. move forward to ‘ground up’ where demonic, dissonant keys take the lead above a rattling midrange that sounds like a corrugated roof ready to fly off. opting for cleaner, elastic drum patterns on ‘tingla’, hayes swaps tense for dense, with a loud take on steppy techno, that’ll please fans of some of blawan’s earlier work. ‘skitz’ starts out an a more dub tip with a wailing, paranoia inducing hook and snaking rhythms, eventually joined by more hard-hitting broken kicks, leading us comfortably into oblivion.

elcome to smallville, rhythm of paradise. we are big fans of michele lamacchias music since he released paradise on his debut 12 as rhythm of paradise on cosmic rhythm. this track breathens out everything we love about house music- deepest rhythms and dope production, timeless sounds - and the mighty loon. whenever we played this track since it came to light, this was a highlight of the night. we approached michele to send some love for his music and he send over this ep- 3 tracks plus a shimmering remix from his buddy nicola loporchio aka cosmic garden, who is running the cosmic rhythm label. we are delighted to present these as smallville 53, comes with a full cover art by the one and only stefan marx.

new york city based further reductions is the live project from husband and wife shawn (aka vapauteen, 400ppm, let er est) and katie o sullivan (aka rose e kross, ppg). back in 2014 they released their gorgeous debut album on cititrax records. the album was an adventurous trip, where they pushed forward a unique sound. after all those years there will be a follow up to this ep on knekelhuis. expect a fusion of different sounds, grimy and pretty at the same time.

new andres 12inch debut on his own label la vida. andres is one that really needs no introduction, but for those unfamiliar here it is: andres, aka dj dez, is one of detroits unsung heros of underground music. since the late 90s andres has built up an extremely respectable catalog of that blurs the boundaries between genres, most notably his records on kdj and mahogani music. not to forget, dj dez is also slum villages dj, has recorded many hip hop instrumental on hipnotech records, and his hand is on countless other detroit records. definitely one of the most consistent producers we’ve got here whose music can be summed up in one word: quality!

a strong selection of remixes for dj emersons latest album >repetitive music<. johannes heil strips things down and delievers a monotone monster of a track with a heavy and dark kickdrum. yan cook puts the broken beats of >anonymous< straight and transfers it into a throbbing dark and heavy track. markus suckut aka tales of the machines is having one of his most succesful years ever with the release of his album and the uprise of his exile label. this track really shows what his t.o.t.m. moniker is all about. nothing but pure unadulterated techno in the most underground sense. oliver deutschmann delievers a groove driven version of >string theory< great rolling tune with a perfect sound and build-up.

following a double dose of newfound los angeles talent, apron records founder, steven julien (aka funkineven) returns home with the debut release from london-based enigma, molinaro. apron 35 is classic apron records material five slabs of soul-drenched techno anchored by groove and grit from a new name with plenty of experience. molinaro who has honed his production and djing craft for over a decade is one of the capital s best technicians behind the decks. a skill most recently recognised by nts radio, who rewarded him with a regular monthly slot on the airwaves. the first of which shot straight into the nts picks for the week. opener gio cements the tone from the off, drifting in with warm, enveloping pads, quickly joined by beefy drums and percussion in a five-minute sprawl out. jtl is arguably the standout a boogie-influenced roller aimed at prime time dancefloor. ty and -molow showcase the deeper, moodier face of molinaros sound palette before the beatless sofar rounds things out, paying homage to ryuichi sakamotos synth brilliance.

we hope you like this ep as much as we do, resolute label resolute label s tenth release, the nest ep , features the head honcho himself, elon. written and produced entirely in nest s brooklyn based studio, this ep is a collaborative project that showcases vintage gear such as the tr-808, 909, prophet 6, tb-303 and sh-101 to name a few. the ep kicks off with the title track, a stripped back number featuring arpeggiated synths, warm pads and 303 stabs, co-produced by bulgarian live maestro, kink, an industry vet who needs no introduction. on a2, elon teams up with the machine obsessed italian, mass_prod, for fractious , a techno number with swirling synths and reverberated vocal stabs that echo throughout. on the flipside, elon collaborates with techno don alexi delano aka adny to produce flirtface , a groovy 303 bassline track with resonant synth licks that keeps the mood rolling. the b2 vinyl exclusive track, meander , features a second collaboration with kink. offered as a digital exclusive and co-produced by david scuba, last call features a modulated bassline and intricate drum programming that effortlessly rolls along.

as proprietors of the will & ink label, yaleesa hall & malin genie have been maintaining a busy and consistent release schedule of top notch techno sounds, largely releasing their own, well received, productions. the duo appeared on hypercolours 10 years compilation in 2016 with the excellent buchan trap, and weve been blessed to secure a full single release with the on-point pair. the mechanical funk of artin swings with plenty of assured groove, the shuffling hats, dense kicks and dubby stabs that ping pong across this fierce production mark this out as a real killer cut. dario & marco zenker, aka the zenker brothers, take time out from their busy ilian tape operations to remix artin into a brutal yet funky techno goliath. congas perpetually roll forward, with frenetic 909 hats and raw and ready stabs in what may well be one of the zenkers finest remixes to date. the essence of funk continues in hall & malins music, with cahen, a great slab of compelling techno that never slips too far into darkness, instead keeping an ever evolving groove and some abstract drone like synthesis to keep the mood buoyant. wrapping up the release is brown, a track that finishes as urgently as it starts, perhaps with a cap doffed to the purpose maker sounds of a certain jeff mills, but broadening the palette to allow some trippy sound architecture and an effective breakdown mid way through. modern day techno supplied by a duo that will most certainly flourish over the coming months, yaleesa hall & malin deliver the goods aplomb on this hypercolour single.

having previously released music on wolf music, futureboogie and recently his own label fate and fiction recordings, lee pattison aka thrilogy delivers the 18th release on omena. completing the package is the most famous newcastle producer in mexico right now, man power.

ben jacobs aka crackazat first made a name for himself when he was still living in bristol and released on ep on the city s futureboogie label, which has also signed music from the likes of julio bashmore, crazy p and outboxx. early in his career crackazat was also the official warm up act for an at the time up and coming artist called floating points, who now needs no introduction as one of the world s leading electronic music producers. moving to sweden shortly after the futureboogie release, crackazat made contact with the local talk owners mad mats and tooli, and after a couple of single/ep releases signed his debut solo album crescendo. the last couple of years crackazat has had an explosion of global popularity, which has led to playing gigs all over the world, and releasing tracks and remixes on labels ranging from josh wink s ovum, joey negro s z records and eureka in japan. classically trained with a strong jazz influence, crackazat has a distinctively individual sound that fuses funk with soulful vocals and the electronic bass music associated with his former home of bristol. eloquent and intelligent, rainbow fantasia is a masterpiece that showcases one of electronic music s most exciting talents.

nice price deal !!! following our quest for inventive approaches within the sometimes tired and highly commodified house / tech house / techno / minimal or whatever you call it scene, we ve gone this time for landesvatter. regardless of having already signed a few full lenght lps on the highly esteemed normoton as well as on under_line and others, joachim landesvatter prefers to keep a low-key atittude. he offers us two great tracks, each one followed by a very special remix. the original of nome is a highly bouncy digitech house track for the dancefloor, with an infectious sinewave to keep you hooked from beggining to end. the remix of nome, in charge of arp aubert (marco niemerski aka tensnake & stephan lorenz) who run the great mirau musik, comes on the form of a hysterical dub house track that literally puts >the roof in the air<. we recommended for full effect to keep the volume on the red. as usual, the second half of the release follows at a quieter pace. hausse is a track on a out to lunch tradition, greatly influenced by detroit but at the same time distancing itself from the current plethora of nostalgics. in-house duo taron-trekka closes the package with a deep remix, rich on freaky jazz touches. we lack words to describe it.

fushara aka thushara goonewardene is a london based electronic musician working with breakbeats, samples and synthesiser. a constant theme for his music is urban decay. from the late 90s fushara has been involved with the london scene as a raver, dj, and producer. he has produced experimental work for labels such as pineconemoonshine, mjazz and more recently scientific recordings. in 2015 he set up an imprint lone foundation to showcase experimental bass music collaborating with daat and others. more recently he has made a return to work with breakbeat collaborating with infest for one of his tracks on his debut on criterion records and has signed to flex recordings for a forthcoming ep. here he makes his bow on 7th storey projects with two amen-driven monsters - the a side features ascension , an epic roller with industrial atmospherics and haunting vocal snatches. this is backed up with nerve on the b side, a nine and a half minute militant amenistic assault that hits hard, just the way we like it! we re delighted to welcome fushara to our roster of talent, we are sure you will be hearing plenty more from the man going forward!
