forever cursed with deep and tech-house labels by the press due to decisions taken 10 years ago before he had any idea how this industry worked, avatism returns mildly angrier than ever before with ate-up, an ep the producer actually started writing during an mdma-induced lucid dream after vakant label boss spiked his drinks in 2011. to give his poor soul some credibility, weve enlisted aqxdm (aquarian & deapmash, fresh from their storming debut on bedouin records) and the mysterious maenad veyl (veyl, pinkman, death & leisure) on remix duties.
x5 myths forgotten by day following his return with 12inches on vakant and boddikas nonplus throughout 2017, avatism lands on parachute with 4 90s-inspired emo-trance breakbeat summertime anthems for people who despise summer. vinyl comes with a digital download featuring a track we couldnt fit on the record because we are not good with maths.
hailing from buenos aires, sebastian galante a.k.a. seph is one of argentina’s main electronic music artists. with nearly 10 years of activity in the techno scene, he has established himself as a multi-fac- eted artist, dividing his time between roles such as an energetic, prolific producer, heavily requested remixer, aula magna records label manager, and a live act which has driven him to perform all across the globe. a sound experimentalist at heart, he devotes himself into expanding the sonic experience on the dance-floor and in the mind.
a collection of tracks written & produced in 2016, milan, italy, including some of his first solo material after focusing on his cw/a project with francesco leali aka clockwork for a few years.
an audio engineer by trade, avatism records electronic music and operates parachute records from his milan-based studio. with original compositions and remixes on nonplus, vakant, decca, r&s and his own imprint, the young italian is well-respected for his own brand of dilapidated, muscular dance music. performing solely as a live act, his improvised transmissions echo through the walls of clubs like fabric, berghain, concrete, panorama bar and festivals of the calibre of sonar, audioriver and exit, either alone or under the guise of cw/a.
after a 3 year hiatus from his avatism moniker, thomas feriero, one half of cw/a and owner of parachute records, returns with an ep for his home label vakant. a rough yet refined release, unassuming in its effort, thomas channels both his previous solo work and his cw/a project into a tightly wound package with 4 solid cuts. various influences converge yet a straight line is etched for all to follow. these are up-front, hard working tracks. body music with an undercurrent of breakbeat. his first ep on vakant since his album. file under need / want.
after first performing together at sonar festival with what was essentially a live version of our respective b.o.a.t.s. and adamant albums, thomas and i decided to expand on these ideas for something more broad and improvisation-centric.
for over 12 months thomas feriero aka avatism, our friend and label partner, has been staying at home and working on his album. he moved to berlin to work on it and now sadly (for us) yet (gladly) for him he is moving back to milan. poof! just like that. so what did this year entail exactly? well for some of us not much. we got to see him in his studio comfy pants a couple of times (he wears slippers) we heard his studio woes, ate pasta with him, drank beers and of course got to hear his album at every juncture. while this self-imposed exile may have been a little worrisome the result is fortunately spectacular. adamant is a glimpse into how a city shapes a life and how intrinsically life then shapes music.
so here i am, happily an album older, introducing the first of adamants remix packages. since the whole project was, generally speaking, a personal affair and a lot of the album was not necessarily club-ready (does that even make sense?), we invited our friends on board to do the dirty deeds for me and rework my sounds into something normal people can dance to. first up are mind against.
unusually for a record (for me,at least), constants collects tracks written in four very different moments in time: some are recent - so recent ive only had the opportunity to play them out just a handful of times - while others are over one year old. i really wish the story behind this ep would be a bit more interesting so this text could completely blow your mind but im afraid there were no dragons, no sex, no drugs and definitely no rock n roll involved. all four were mostly produced by me while sipping coffee and wearing boxer shorts in front of a computer. i could somehow try to describe the music on here but it would probably take less for you to give it a listen. however, if you happen to be one of the humans that prefer reading about music. anyway, im really happy to see these finally out, especially on a label i have always looked up to like vakant. i really used to think smoke, kaden and ozer were aliens at some hopefully you will enjoy this music as much as i loved writing and playing it out.
dumb unit returns to the race with a powerful new ep by italian heavyweights clockwork & avatism. revealing their skill at collaboration the four tracks on the archetype ep are a compelling take on the increasingly musical side of techno. both slow and brooding, yet with the direct propulsion needed to move bodies, the archetypes ep is a moody thriller perfect for the warm nights approaching
this fall dumb unit returns with what is sure to become a household name in electronica: thomas feriero aka avatism. known recently for his moody releases on labels such as mike shannon s haunt and tiefschwarz s souvenir, his dark yet hopeful productions are already receiving plaudits by some of the scenes top artists. opening the doors to new musical members has not been a common occurrence at du which therefore means that this release must be something special indeed. and it is. dark, brooding yet full of energy and substance. all tracks hit with a welcome hint of catchiness and hooks embracing what is current in dance music today, without losing sight of the label or the artists individuality. 4 quality tracks of equal stature command full attention on this ep. one of the the labels most exciting releases to date and one which signifies a strong 2012 ahead!
thomas feriero, aka avatism, brings his >thought patterns< to souvenir this fall season. and just as autumn is, the ep inspires a feeling that only the cool moist nostalgic night time air of autumn can bring.
london-based thomas feriero, aka avatism, didnt buy his first vinyl when he was ten years old, nor was he born out of the love of two underground jazz musicians. he had an extremely dull and standard childhood and can barely play the drums. yet somehow, he is able to formulate techhouse tracks that are classy and artful while remaining dancefloor-functional.

haunt music is proud to present the debut ep of londons avatism. a new artist that has truely mastered the old art of deep, dark house. coming from a background in audio engineering thomas feriero is no stranger to exceptional sound quality and on this release he truely proves it. avatisms >taking it too seriously< is a journey into the darkside of house that we at the label are really excited to share and that we hope you will enjoy sharing too.
played by ellen allien, koljah, bryan zentz! amam records is pleased to announce its seventh release, a joint effort between avatism of london and the selph of milan – including a remix by veteran producer dan curtin – for a well rounded tech-house vinyl ep
following the success of christians latest album -mare- here are 13 incredible reworks by artist like max cooper, robert koch, avatism, tiger lou, christian himfelf and more... strictly limited double 12- incl poster!
after debuting earlier this year on a collaborative split with max_m for parachute records, italian producer wrong assessment lands on m_rec ltd with his very own 12. disillusionment is a tightly programmed techno tool packed with groove. there’s a warm and almost melodic bass line here, clearly indebted to the detroit groove, but darkened as it has become custom with italian producers and their sound. the loops that develop around it are of the hypnotic kind… the sound that recently made m_rec ltd label of the month on resident advisor. parachute affiliate cw/a (already involved in clockwork and avatism) delivers a prime time remix that transform the original into an aggressive techno anthem. playing intelligently with the elements of the original, the remix delineates a very interesting narrative as it fluctuates between harshness, funk and psychedelia. expect major playtime. on the flip side, ‘persecutory beliefs’ is basically a tribute to all proper techno dancefloors. with tension and tightness, the track revolves around a forward driving ravey refrain perfected for those late night sessions. closing the ep, ‘inner turmoil’ follows a similar path, but gets druggier and more crepuscular as it evolves. like throughout the entire ep, there’s a love for proper 90s techno at play here. dark stuff for late, late nights. is it clear that max_m and his label m_rec ltd have discovered major talent in wrong assessment. expect more great things throughout 2015.
torontos my favorite robot records team up once again with the excellent jonny cruz for a new ep featuring remixes from avatism & jeremy p caulfield and fur coat … it is another winner from my favorite robot records!

schneeweiss iii: a collaboration of neighbours. over the years, oliver koletzki has continuously cited berlin as a point of reference and, more importantly, a source of inspiration. two of his albums - großstadtmaerchen and großstadtmaerchen 2 - have been a direct ode to the capital. friedrichshain, one of berlins vibrant districts, has always held a special place in olivers heat. this is where he started out when he first moved to the city, and this is where he lives now.
this is a textured soundscape energized by drums that might sound inspired from the influences of the past but are clearly crafted with sounds pulled from the future. from here we arrive at prisms, an interlude that at first seems relaxed until you realize that with just a combination of arpeggiated synths, percussive elements and noises plucked from the ether you are smack in the middle of a piece of music that somehow wraps its emotion around a moving image that moves you with it.
we prepared a compilation, which lightens every facet of our colorful city berlin as a double-cd: >day< and >night< - always a love-hate relationship. the day-edition underlines every pre- or after-hour with atmospheric tracks from solomun, materik, dewalta, fritz kalkbrenner and many more. the night-time equivalent unfolds the dark pull of berlins clubs with sounds from ellen allien, mathias kaden and many more
we are all children of the earth and immigrants - auslÄnder - immigrati in our world. this was one of the first things coming in siopis mind at the beginning of his new project >auslÄnder< a mixed compilation for klik records. officially an immigrant himself although he is one more of those using the globe as a unity under the guidance of music, he is the person behind the silversurfer alliance that conquered the dancefloors with his raw and dark tune.
