copenhagens echocord colour returns this mid november with brendom moellers magic city ep, featuring four originals from the new york based artist. brendon moeller has long been a purveyor of authentic dub-infused techno since stepping onto the scene via his 2006 sweetspot / humpback ep via echocord and has since gone on to release on reputable imprints such as third ear, kimochi sound, delsin’s ann aimee, mule musiq and of course his very own steadfast. here though moeller makes a welcome return to where it all began with some fresh material for echocords colour sub- label. caravan takes the lead on the release and in typical brendon moeller fashion were treated to densely layered dub chords, throbbing subs and expansive atmospherics whilst robust drums drive the composition along. magic city’ follows and ups the energy levels even further with pounding industrial drums layered underneath billowing dub stabs and eerie drones. ‘magic city in dub’ follows and as the name suggests offers up a reduced take on the composition, dropping the tempo and shining light on the billowing echoes of the original whilst stirring in some off-kilter rhythsm and additional processing for good measure. lastly,departure closes the package, with haunting synth drones, bumpy rhythms and murky vocals wandering throughout the seven-minute composition

what started out as a simple email exchange between a young, hungry beatmaker and a seasoned player in the worlds of jazz and midwestern indie hip-hop, has resulted in a vibrant record nearly a decade in the making. on one side of let it out sits miles bonny, a long time musical collaborator who spent his youth soaking in powerful musical moments in nyc under the tutelage of his trumpet-slinging father, francis bonny, and later as a teen immersed in new york s busy indie-hip-hop scene. as he grew up miles cemented himself a niche in the midwest, most notably in lawrence, kansas where tireless forays into beatmaking led to the founding of the much-loved innatesounds crew and record label, as well as a series of solo releases and collaborative projects.

composed of members buckshot, 5ft, and dj evil dee, black moon simultaneously kicked off and defined the rap renaissance of new york with the release of enta da stage in 1993. whereas plenty of earlier groups had spit rage-filled rhymes to tear down the world’s unjust establishments, no one had evoked brooding pathos or introspective anger quite like black moon. underground hip-hop might have been dominated by the sunny sound of g-funk when enta da stage dropped, but from then on the scene turned to the dark side. black moon was rising.

if you are wondering what the artist wanted to tell you by choosing this title, we will give you a small hint: it’s a cynical statement on something that for sure every party promoter has experienced at some point. the rest, we will leave up to your imagination… in real life, there’s no mercy – neither is when it comes to the sound of this new snork release by syntax error. the four new tracks with meaningful names are not only a social criticism and another artistic processing of the current development of the techno scene, but also a classic syntax error: rough, tricky and good to groove. each track stands on its own, telling another story. “collateral cosmopolitan” is a straight forward piece with a highly memorable beat talking about the uniformity that is creeping in the waiting lines of more and more techno clubs. “i wear my grandpa’s glasses” presents a totally dodgy sound, which might be a little oldschool and even a little irritating – just like some fashion items you encounter on today’s big city streets. “no fog is no solution” is a tight song that definitely needs some good fog and a harsh strobe. and finally, the last track sounds like a futuristic fairy tale from outer space looking on the world as if it is a “society bathysphere”.

fushara aka thushara goonewardene is a london based electronic musician working with breakbeats, samples and synthesiser. a constant theme for his music is urban decay. from the late 90s fushara has been involved with the london scene as a raver, dj, and producer. he has produced experimental work for labels such as pineconemoonshine, mjazz and more recently scientific recordings. in 2015 he set up an imprint lone foundation to showcase experimental bass music collaborating with daat and others. more recently he has made a return to work with breakbeat collaborating with infest for one of his tracks on his debut on criterion records and has signed to flex recordings for a forthcoming ep. here he makes his bow on 7th storey projects with two amen-driven monsters - the a side features ascension , an epic roller with industrial atmospherics and haunting vocal snatches. this is backed up with nerve on the b side, a nine and a half minute militant amenistic assault that hits hard, just the way we like it! we re delighted to welcome fushara to our roster of talent, we are sure you will be hearing plenty more from the man going forward!

music for dreams is proud to announce the new album by danish legend dub tractor. one of the founding fathers of electronica in denmark in the early 90s, anders remmer has remained a reluc-tant beacon of copenhagen’s scene ever since, with his musical legacy still a work in progress. as well as being a member of future 3, remmer has released material under a number of different aliases, but his most frequent guise dating back to 1994 has been dub tractor. under this name, he gently crafts complex yet warm and organic electronic music that flirts with ambient, dub and idm. with “hello ambient wash”, the first dub tractor album since 2009, remmer explores further the possibilities of dub tractor after the more pop-oriented & shoegaze-flavoured approach of his last album -sorry-. in addition to new material, the second half of “hello ambient wash” presents a ret-rospective of hand-picked tracks from his first three albums on flex records (the label which music for dreams founder kenneth bager ran with ole mortensen from 1994 to 2007). ... bonus info: nils frahm is a fan.

sebastian eduardo burst onto the scene in 2016 with a fine debut ep entitled ultima necat, now comes his second ep, this time released in the untold stories protagonist series. dedicated to the legendary poet hanshan, the ep is a deep and personal offering, it keeps to the style which made his debut so appreciated: positively charged, quirky and enlivening micro house, but this time there s a deeper personal dimension to the tracks, a nice development and another welcome offering from the young swiss producer.

as the head of grounded theory and manhigh, henning baer has since 2009 presented his downcast, experimental interpretation of modern electronic music to wide critical acclaim, establishing his forceful presence on berlin’s scene with immaculate curatorial skills and equally imposing dj abilities. his discography so far, concentrated on adam x’s legendary sonic groove imprint and his own k209 and manhigh imprints, amongst others, keeps step with his formidable reputation and wide-ranging tastes, moving across the spectrum of hard-edged, aggressively modern techno. with ‘shatterproof’, his long-germinating debut album for manhigh, he offers for the first time his unified vision in extended format, a varied exploration into the outer limits of the genre. at its centre a work of dark minimalism, he sets and maintains the pensive tone on ambient pieces like ‘angel dust’, ‘all over’, and ‘mil-std 461’, which foreground the exploratory electronics that maintain their presence throughout. the corroded textures of the sounds, enveloped in decaying reverb, bring life to pieces like ‘never ending’ or ‘bliss’, which sit between rhythmic interludes and the stricter dancefloor material found on the remainder of the album. once he shifts into techno, he does it unremittingly, from the uptempo fury of ‘code buster’ and ‘burning chrome’, whose starkness only heighten the tension, to denser pieces like ‘drama sky’ or closer ‘vermillion red’, where the cavernous impacts of drum hits punch holes through beds of seesawing synthesizers. shatterproof like its title suggests, henning baer’s first album unifies and strengthens the work of an artist whose legacy is already assured.

this is the third volume of random numbers split series. a cross-section of the italian experimental scene in 5 volumes. each artist is assigned to one side of a c50 tape, in which express his music without compromises. volume 3 is entrusted to somec and von tesla. somec gives us 20 minutes of raw recordings of a mythical machine, a buchla 208, which stops its technology to the 70s. all recorded live with the aid of a computer. in less technical terms, napolis work can be summarized in a handful of eccentric hallucinations – pretentious recreations for quirky programmers – polished fiction. nwh2o is a long journey through interstellar landscapes and claustrophobic extraterrestrial rhythms, transmissions from other times and places. von tesla presents a more romantic vision of his world, divided into a triptych, touch / enter / flesh. dreaming representation of a meeting, where the romantic tones are obfuscated by a drop of lsd, which changes the colors, shapes and volumes. a slow movement toward the transformation of the body, an approach to transhumanism that mingles technology in the body, a genesis of tetzuo (the man of steel / tetzuo shima) of the years 10.

the fifth and final volume of random numbers split series is released. a split of the most experimental italian scene in 5 volume. to each artist is assigned a side of a c50 cassette, in which to let the music speak without compromises. volume 5 is entrusted to attilio novellino and collin mckelvey. the latest issue of the split series wants to be a bridge to future random numbers publications. in this case the two artists involved instead of dividing the two sides of the cassette decided to merge their productions into a collaboration. started in 2014, the collaboration between attilio novellino and collin mckelvey produced two albums: hypehunt and me&#768,,taphisiques cannibales. sons of the same approach, shared by similar sound sources and similar compositional techniques, the two works find in the different suggestions around which they are made, the specificity that allows them to grasp its essence, autonomous and complementary at the same time.

redstone press is a new label from the highlands of scotland born out of long nights on homegrown soundsystems pushing the uk scene, with a unique northern edge that comes from the freedom and isolation felt in that part of the world. red001 compromises of three eclectic bass-driven cuts from delphic producer pseudopolis. the a side pulls no punches, pointing you front left with arpeggiated synths on at last and artillery like percussion on tracer. we can all groove is a grittier but more subtle workout on the reverse.

2529km records is a new dub techno label created by two friends and artists – piotr bejnar aka n1kt (warsaw, pl) and leon lolishvili aka boyd schidt (tbilisi, ge). 2529 km stands for the distance between warsaw and tbilisi. the idea of the label to release compilations with artists from different countries and nationalities. through music the label wants to unite different cultures and to create a group of friends all over the world, who support themselves in music and life. the first release 2529km 001 is the compilation from idealist (switzerland) - producer, dj and label owner of idealistmusic, stojche ( macedonia) - berlin-based artist who s primarily inspired of the local electronic scene in skopje, boyd schidt (georgia) - one of the leading techno artists in georgia and n1kt (poland) – new techno alias from the owner of 2529 km and otake records.

per martinsen aka mental overdrive is one of norwegian dance musics founding fathers. alongside friends such as bjorn torske, biosphere, rune lindbaek and dj strangefruit, martinsen was integral in laying the foundations of norways now blossoming dance music scene during the late 1980s and early 90s. as a producer, he cut his teeth making house, techno and hardcore for belgian imprints ssr and r&s records at the turn of the 90s. he was a regular at the r&s studio in ghent, programming and mixing for other artists including joey beltram. since then, per has continued to produce and release quality electronic music, both under his mental overdrive alias (see releases on full pupp, smalltown supersound, rett i fletta and his own love od communications imprint), and as part of outfits such as frost (alongside his other half, aggie peterson) and illumination/ chilluminati. per is featured heavily in ben davis and pete jenkinsons documentary film chronicling the rise of norwegian dance music, ‘northern disco lights.

brand new glastonbury production duo speakman sound team up with frankie forman for the palliative psychedelic dance stylings of latest single warm. warm follows the breakneck success of debut single in flight which became a top viral track on spotify while being touted by key tastemakers including 6music’s lauren laverne, radio x’s john kennedy, soho radio’s eddie temple morris and radio 1’s huw stephens, monki and phil taggart. the latter commendations led to the brothers being offered a slot on the bbc introducing stage at glastonbury for a ram-packed homecoming. brothers todd and guy, the duo behind speakman sound, spent their childhood in the glastonbury area immersed in music through their father, a guitarist in psych-rock scene including bands such as hawkwind. growing into adolescence against a backdrop of rave culture in somerset shaped the psychedelic tinged future bass sound they create in their studio in north london today. warm is a sonic embrace, a trip into the uterine comforts of music. a rolling kick drum structures it, ostensibly four-on-the-floor, but with syncopated fibrillations, the sound of a heart skipping a beat. with frankie forman’s brilliant, mantra-like vocal and tobie tripp’s sweeping strings, warm reminds us of the comfort we find in music. enveloping in its beauty, it’s the latest majestic entry into speakman sound’s unique and beatific body of work. that the speakman brothers are producers in their own right should come as no surprise. having received a start-up grant for a studio in cricklewood, they have built an artistic hub from scratch and are surrounded by a creative coterie of young musicians and talented artists practicing across film and music in north london where they hold regular late-night jams and parties.

dr. love is a veteran and key tastemaker / vinyl junkie on the montreal scene and laura ingalls is a wandering french person of no specific sex who has recently landed in the french canadian city and they both bonded over their love of anything disco and poutine, the main local dish which consists of potato, cheese, gravy and maybe sometimes added meat! dr love likes to dig but doesn t really produce while laura ingalls is not the most efficient digger and only seems to unearth old folk and obscure arabic music for their personal collection but has serious production skills.

rezz s involvement in the toronto scene helped grow her gritty style. events like bassmentality and older shows at the legendary guverment helped shape not only rezz, but an era of electronic music producers who became inspired from early dj college tours. mass manipulation is a commentary on how easily our minds can become manipulated by the things we consume in society. we consume heavily through the media, which, in turn, tries to curate our thoughts and dictate how we as humans are supposed to live and behave. this album plays off this idea and invites people to become hypnotized, allowing their brains to be manipulated by my music in the hope they might see things through a new perspective (perhaps an outer world viewpoint). one where everyone is free from the unrealistic expectations planet earth has drawn for them. a world of acceptance and hypnosis.

argentinian dj / producer joaquin ruiz releases on norwegian label ploink this december, featuring four intense techno productions. ploink – a longstanding nightclub in bergen, norway – branched out with a record label in 2014, and now boasts a discography spanning prins thomas, +plattform, skatebÂrd, mental overdrive and label cofounder thomas urv. the labelís twentieth release comes from joaquin ruiz, a twenty-six-year-old from buenos aires, who has previously released on labels like ascetic limited and children of tomorrow whilst continuing to establish himself in the underground techno scene. ruiz opens with the title track ëgalacticí, where haunting melodies sit upon tight, rolling percussion and progress under complex polyrhythms whilst reverb soaked transitions seamlessly tie the track together to set a dark and bewildering tone for the release.

it does not happen that often any more that unreleased music from 40 years ago surfaces. even more unlikely it is that the songs put on tape are such treasures. the voltags were right at the forefront of the local washington dc new wave/punk scene of the late 1970s. influenced by kraftwerk, gary numan, the clash, and the b-52 s, they have released only one 45rpm single during their existence. but during the time span of not even 18 months, they had recorded enough material for an entire album - but the songs remained in the can. this is the story of the voltags, a short-lived band which could have become famous and mentioned in the same breath as the aforementioned music legends of that era if their songs had been released back in the day. dive in and enjoy the sound of the voltags, it is truly special. we here at perfect toy are thrilled to be label to finally release their work and we sincerely hope that they are finally getting the appreciation they so richly deserve.

it does not happen that often any more that unreleased music from 40 years ago surfaces. even more unlikely it is that the songs put on tape are such treasures. the voltags were right at the forefront of the local washington dc new wave/punk scene of the late 1970s. influenced by kraftwerk, gary numan, the clash, and the b-52 s, they have released only one 45rpm single during their existence. but during the time span of not even 18 months, they had recorded enough material for an entire album but the songs remained in the can. this is the story of the voltags, a short-lived band which could have become famous and mentioned in the same breath as the aforementioned music legends of that era if their songs had been released back in the day. dive in and enjoy the sound of the voltags, it is truly special. we here at perfect toy are thrilled to be label to finally release their work and we sincerely hope that they are finally getting the appreciation they so richly deserve

after simmering gently below the surface of the melbourne music scene for just enough minutes now, winters finally comes up for air with “sometimes for you but mostly just because” -- four tracks of elevated jazz/house/soul landscapes, with rhodes, synthesizers, and live percussion illustrating shifts between joy, melancholy, and cautious optimism.

dark entries and emotional rescue team up to further explore psychic tv’s acid house years. psychic tv was formed by genesis p-orridge and peter christopherson of throbbing gristle with alex fergusson of alternative tv in 1981. after various line up changes, the band shifted direction to dance oriented songs influenced by the house and techno scenes of detroit and chicago. by 1988 the group included dave ball of soft cell, fred giannelli of turning shrines and matthew best of carcrash international. during the summer of 1988 the group recorded a batch of songs at time square studios in london that would appear under the guise of various artists compilations jack the tab’ and ‘tekno acid beat’. the idea behind these ‘compilations of imaginary artists was creating a sense that a healthy acid house scene existed in the uk. virginia was the studio project of dave “mista luv” ball and then-wife virginia “gini” ball, a classical violinist who toured and recorded with siouxsie and the banshees and marc almond.

after five years of disco modernism, old and new teams of producers join together for this fresh collection of future dancefloor fillers. the main idea behind the milano disco wave title is to represent what is happening now in the milan s club scene. featuring six tracks crafted by well known artists as rago and farina of lectric workers, fred ventura and paolo gozzetti of italoconnection, stefano tirone of modo, livio fogli of la maison, young hopes as forklift & saw and codazzi, all working hard to produce a modern sounding version of italo disco for the future. the release is strictly limited to 300 12- vinyls.

after releasing space control an intergalactic journey into synthesizers, back in 2012, the theremynt duo went on to release a successful, if steady, stream of eps, including robotique de l amou r and vampiros discos (a tribute to brazilian filmmaker ze do caixao). with remixes coming from the likes of david carretta, acid washed and club bizarre, these were playlisted by scene djs such as marvin & guy and ivan smagghe, amongst others. now yann and eva are striking back with their second lp, parallels. it s a record that sees them changing their colour palette and mood, but one that s still haunted by ghosts that lurk within their synthesizers and drum machines. the 10 tracks still exhibit peel s ever shifting vocal style and yann s sophisticated arrangements. but the second lp oscillates between ballad and dancefloor, landing between cosmic disco influences, krautrock and other progressive techno sounds. as a bonus, the album also features a cover of famous 80 s anthem self control. we ve been closely watching the rise of a sagittariun ever since he first popped up with his consistently excellent elastic dreams label back in 2011. what started out as an anonymous project has since been revealed as the handiwork of nick harris, a long time champion of the bristol house and techno scene since before most of us were even hitting the dance. his music has been flying out with a no nonsense approach self-released, minimal promo, just cracking club-ready 12inches that tap into the fierce-but-fun spirit of detroit techno and albums loaded with smokers delights to appease his west country roots.

this record is a collaborative between marq spekt and experimental, proto-new wave musician gary wilson (stones throw). it’s rare that you get the opportunity to work with the actual artist rather than just sampling his records. gary opened his vaults and provided sample soundscapes. some of these instrumentals date back to 1973 and may have been heard before. others may not. the ending result is a pure creative expression and meshes hip-hop, psychedelic, jazz and funk. soak up the vibrations and enjoy!
this is the kind of idea that makes you enjoy the fringes of rap more than what’s in the spotlight. with that said, “broken mazes” sounds weirder on paper than it does in the headphones. gary wilson is an awesomely strange dude with some outré music under his belt, but for this project spekt wisely sticks with the more accessible sides of wilson’s catalog. it’s all breezy jazz-funk with some vague psychedelic touches for extra oomph, a wide-open feld for spekt to run his free-flowing bars. the result is relaxed and enjoyable, if at times a bit unfocused – kinda like a good open-ended improv session by a talented jazz band.
