demdike stare return to the lab with two extended new productions, inaugurating a series of untamed releases brought together under the testpressing banner. collision was recorded in late 2012 and is pretty much unlike anything you will have heard from demdike before, an intense high-frequency re-arrangement of jungle and noise, like a more brutal variant of the demdike-affiliated hate project, fed through a bank of analogue boxes and pedals, left to spin uncontrollably for 10 minutes before fading to black. misappropriation on the flip feeds off a different noise altogether, perched precariously between the mangled percussion you would most commonly associate with muslimgauze and the metallic clank of industry, a proper sunstroke riddim: angry and unforgiving.

last year kyodai dropped breaking, which to date is the biggest selling release on local talk. now the brothers are back with in our opinion a future house anthem. the scene is a classic piano house cut that’s impossible to resist and together with one the coolest vocal samples we’ve ever heard we think this has the potential to go really big. when the breakdown drops we’re pretty sure everybody in the club will chant. but as if this was not enough we also got another big tune on the b-side. moving is the continuation of “breaking” and goes along the same lines with its crossover jazz styled house. once again kyodai delivers a supa solid house production with large jazz breakdowns and old school vocals that’s right up their with ”breaking”. this is also why we called it…breaking pt.2. kyodai is currently working on their debut album for local talk which is due later this year. they’re also travelling around the world with their amazing live dj set that we highly recommend. trust us when we say that these two brothers really now how to turn up the heat in a club…serious biz!

foolish felix dickinsons superb cynic label land a repress of this much sought after uk acid classic! this release is finally getting a very limited re-press. dusk till dawn is an old school acid house slammer reminiscent of tracks like mike dunns *let it be house* and armandos *151*. 808 drums and double 303 acid lines combined with pitched down vocals. played by everyone from larry heard to mark archer. liquid soul drops is a more modern weirdo slow-mo acid jam as championed by andy weatherall.

rummage in some boxes of my favourite record store i found a cover that made me curious. l kubic & tagträumer² - the only thing in this world and on the flipside a remix by alle farben. when placing the needle at the beginning of the vinyl the first sounds were very strange. i thought that must be a record from the 60s lost in the tech-house box but than a straight beat turned everything different. a piano melody slowly sat down firmly in my ear and i was longing to know where the journey takes me. after a while an acidline pushed everything and i was sure at this time this is not a normal 4/4 tech-house record. alle farben remixed the themes very playful and i heard that he gives the elements more pressure for the club. so at the end i bought this one and i cannot imagine taking this unique record ever again out of my record case.

domenico writes and co-writes all the songs, sings, plays guitar and designs the rhythmically adventurous soundscapes heard on cine prive. with the help of old (pedro sa, alberto continentino, moreno veloso, kassin, and adriana calcanhotto) and newer (money mark, darin gray & glenn kotche of duo on fillmore) friends and musical collaborators the songs were recorded live in the studio with most tracks calling on no more than three musicians at a time.

these redux releases are like buses, we dont hear anything for ages then they hit us with three killer eps in a row. following the grand corporation and machete savane comes the return of phoreski. we have not heard much from phoreski for a little while, but you will soon hear why when you put the needle to the record on these two new tracks. he has been busily building up his studio into an enviable aladdins den of vintage kit, wires and analogue recording equipment. all synths and vocals you hear on these tracks come from phoreski, no samples, no guests, no edits. he has been hinting at this raw, analogue authentic sound for a while, but these tracks showcase a producer at one with the machines. >brown biscuits< comes across like some lost italo/cosmic gem, but via the north east of england rather than the lakes of italy. >machines< flexes tight proto-house rhythms with some bass that will make mince meat of lesser club soundsystems whilst the feuding synth lines fight for attention. this is proper body music, play loud!

here we go with the next release on frank mullers mad musician from the techno headquarter berlin. some might know this track from franks live performance as beroshima. ken ishii heard this track in japan and offered to do a remix. we dont have to explain ken ishii and his nice releases. he has been on the scene for almost two decades and has influenced the japanese techno scene like no other. two other mixes are done by frank muller himself. his alter ego beroshima mix is is pure techno spirit and simply rocks the shit out of your lazy bones. brand new and good for you!

breakbeat paradise recordings is proud to introduce yet another talented artist to the bbp crew. dj rudd is an established dj and producer from latvia, where he is leading the funky breaks/mashup scene, doing shows with names like a-skillz, featurecast, nightmare on wax to name a few. rudds oldskool type of funky breaks was a perfect match for bpp, who was quick to get rudd on board, when they first heard rudds successful funky breakout ep on bigm records. this became the beginning of a prosperous teamwork set out to design this amazing ep of 4 state-of-the-art funky bangers. track by track and sample by sample they worked their way through, in order for this ep to be as great as possible. the result is nothing less than a masterpiece of classic funky breaks - with all the right elements including well-balanced use of modern day wobble basslines.

for signal life #03, we teamed up two young vigorous south londoners: mr. louis carnell, known by his moniker visionist, and mr. marco giuliani, who works under the alias last japan. >control this< by visionist combines his background in south london grime with his signature drum machine template and lo-fi vocal excerpts into a coherent mesh. our favourite visionist track to date! when we first heard >storm trooper< by last japan, it was the tension we got caught up in. the song is focused with a clear direction, uncommon in most young talent, armed with a driving snare-fill rhythm reminiscent of south rap and all that exiting stuff in the 160 bpm. i believe murky is the correct term. we predict interesting things for mr. giuliani.
