after the huge succes of its tenth release (davide squillace & guti), hideout is back with with the third slice of the deconstruction revisited series. this time, crocodile tears, which appeared on davide squillaces tutti frutti ep (ho003) got offered three amazing relectures. it all starts with mr robert dietz (cadenza, cecille ...), who delivers a super modern and energetic relecture, where intelligent synthetic percussions mess around with weird noises and processed effects. after two minutes a monophonic synths starts its battle with vocals from squillaces original to end up on a more minimal groove. gflame aka portugese techno start cisco ferreiras (the advent) relecture directly sets the tone: a nasty bassline with a crazy synth stab flies over a soft but very heavy techno beat, to evolve to an elegant tech house track (no bongos involved). finally sis, the man behind cocolino imprint, reinterpretation starts with a long intro with the kick dropping after more than 3 minutes. the melancholic feeling of the track builds into a very subtile beat with reverbered elements all over. the percussion layers and delicate melodic synths add some organic flavour to the music so the 14 minutes remix is never boring and takes you to a nice journey thru sounds. you can tell somebody was in love when making such a beautiful song. another must have from hideout!

following on from last years dachshund skank ep by klic & article.01, we have asked some of our favourite producers of the moment to add their own slant to the originals which previously found their way into the dj sets of martyn and addison groove and gained support from bbc6 music. greymatter continues with his new love for chicago-styled synth and drum machine work-outs with his jacking take on forwards, while pixelord and the hotly tipped gerry read take the track mustard tiger in two very different directions on the flip. the digital release sees the talented new boy blacksmif and hit and hope regular naive machine add their respective twists to round off the release.

there is a fantastic quality to gavin russoms work, an otherworldliness that is subtle yet palpable. its heard-or felt, more precisely-in all of his projects, including the crystal ark, black meteoric star and his numerous recordings with delia gonzalez. all of russoms sonic astral projections, with their textures and atmospheric layers, demonstrate his astounding production skills and modular wizardry. as dfas studio engineer, he was entrusted with the hefty task of maintaining the labels analog stockade. russom has built custom gear for the likes of james murphy, black dice and holy ghost!, has remixed artists including juan maclean, cut copy and caribou, and filled out the wonderful music of lcd soundsystem. so its no wonder that russoms newest solo outing, night sky, reflects the talent and experience accrued in all those roles with both stunning precision and audible clarity. add patience to the above list as well.

after he caught our attention several times with a string of releases on such labels as quintessentials for example, we are very happy to introduce skipson as a new artist on our label. his influences can be found somewhere between labels like classic or music for freaks for example. these influences combined with a great passion for detroit house from the likes of kdj or andres create the very own skipson sound that we like so much and that always shows his ability to add something unique to his productions.

with private golds newest offering the inimitable cologne producer martin beume has really taken a huge and achingly beautiful step in his songwriting and production. some might know him from releases with connaiseur or brut! records, but this record is miles higher… wisps of detail adorn each song like edible gold flake on a luscious chocolate ganache cake. synths flutter and glide like summer butterflies and even the percussion is precious and clean. this is not to say it is only good for home listening. lead off track solid rubber has a tough and sexy deep house sway with echoes of brazilian bossa nova laid over its more traditionalist chicago house and jazz. lsdeep, has the full dirt stomp necessary for a forbidden tryst, but sneaks in smart samples and emotional filter washes to add unexpected depth. at 105bpm, you might not expect wip catch to fucking groooooove the way it does, but trust me kids, things are getting slower as we are getting older. and it feels great. soaring orchestral strings married with perfectly cut vocal samples are sure to get the more adventurous djs hypnotizing dancefloors like musical svengalis. and when you thought it was all over, axel boman turns in an amazing remix in his instantly recognizable non-traditional style. this dude is a lothario. all hip shake and cooing come-ons, its a reduced house gem that slinks its way into your pants.

this fourfold-dash specialises primarily on the long demanded 100 copy limited re-press of carsten rauschs classic techno/house hybrid >cat eyes<. an unbelievable ever-fresh workout from contemporary minimal splashes to rolling techno and acid infected beats, proving that you dont really need a worn-out 90ies tekkno or house sample in order to rock the house all the time and lift us finally up into an eerie, energetic world of wicked bass and driving beats.

the fried tofu crew follow up their excellent first course with another tasty selection! on the a-side sweet soulful voices catch you from the first try on. but dont be hasty, or you will burn your tongue. this is hot and far from being a dessert. after the first impression of sweetness, you will feel the spicy taste coming through. we all love that slight burning on the lips, making you really feel the feel. the first cut on the b-side digs even deeper into sweetness. somehow everything seems to be so lovely, each time this one is played out. its clear that even the ruff guys cant resist the taste of honey. real sweet and spicy, thats how its got to be. things are straightened out on the final cut, which finishes off the meal with a raw funk jam. the extended guitar groove gets back to the basics. sometimes few essential things, combined in the right way, can be all you need. a typical mistake when preparing a meal is to add too many different spices.

following on from the furious 601 release we revisit the aquasky single and ask some mates of ours to go in on the remix tip and try and add some of their own bass induced mayhem and here, ladies and gentlemen, is the end result. not for the faint hearted or those of an uneasy disposition.

for all the wonderfully subtle shell-breaking he did on his full-length, mark e falls back on old, slow habits for his new single, >the day<. and welcomely, we might add. pitching things down to a basement lounge floor crawl, the midlands dj/producer wraps his always chugging kicks and snares in serpentine synth-bass, jazzy, tripleted hi-hats, and moaning, wordless soul vocals. its grasp is tantric—hinting coyly at ecstatic release, but never fully delivering. for the vinyl junkies that bought stone breaker and missed out on it the first time around (it was absent from that version), this release should be a no brainer. but >the day< isnt carrying all the weight here. a new track called >special fx< will have sample hounds—particularly those with a thing for classic electro-pop—salivating. and the oft imitated, never replicated prins thomas shows up on the flip for a (naturally) eleven- minute revamp of >the day<, livening up the bass and drum patterns, adding in strings, piano, guitar, organ, and ending up with something that totally could have emanated from a camaro at some point in the early seventies. (albeit, one owned by someone with interest in eleven-minute instrumentals.) it even has a fade out!

its needless to add many words to the big success of >the elephants< original release. we however could not resist to have it remixed by some of the worlds hottest producers. and here they are: great names, great music!! go for it

if we add a new label to electronic music, is it really needed, wasnt music originally unlabeled? - lads contemporary productions could be called anticipated techno, architect techno, or architechno. these two tracks are simply brilliant and beyond what i have heard to date. the way lad is building space procures the feeling to be part of the music, to be in it, swallowed by it. >isolate< and >bergvall< are just two hypnotizing masterpieces, transporting you into unknown and untamed territories. deep, soulful, cinematographic, intriguing, moving. my drug is music. from 2d to real 3d chills. vanina hänin woods, forests, deep and dark spaces, like if kubrick, kurosawa and marinetti would have gathered together to produce music, simply highly cinematographic and futuristic. lad builds up organic visions, redefying sound in such a personal way. definitively two superb, soulful, finely shaped and constructed electronic pieces which will undoubtedly make you dance the night away. maurizio vitello returns to metroline with some seriously deep bass-driven techno. a devastating ep. the lead track is a driving, stripped down techno groove. full-bodied toms and a seriously fat bass keep the track rolling while filtered vocals and understated synths add the dynamics. heavy! looking good keeps that groove going with a bassline so heavy you will have to pick yourself up off the floor. a bubbling percussion break evolves throughout the track, building in complexity, but kept in check by some nice metronomic hats at the high end. on movers maurizio lets the drums do the talking. everything locks tightly around the solid kicks. the multi-layered break adds a sweet cubano vibe that you simply wont be able to shake off. let the bass drrrrooopppp! pleased? yes we are. this playful track is going set the summer floors on fire. vocal samples weave in and out of the mix, and sharp-as-a-needle 80s-tinged synths stab through the deep, heavy rhythm track to awesome effect.

hfn music launches a new sub-label with hfndisko - an outlet for some of the groovier finds. lightbluemover is the somewhat mysterious new artist gifted with the chance to kick start this new project. and what a start it is! >girn<, featuring the equally mysterious blacklightsmoke, is an extended, wild pitch journey into the smoky, synth-voiced slow house. beautifully mad, pitching synths and a husky vocal all add up as lazy beats lift this stoner-anthem into new levels the sci-pop disco meets psychobilly fusion that is >ddisco< is a further surprise and really gives us a view into lightbluemover extravert world. meandering synths and spooky passages drift and saunter through a bouncing, tense field of analog love.

for his second transmission as part of the mindshake family, carlo lio drops a propulsive, meticulous building stomper of a tune. lio creates an impressively spacious and dark sound sphere which envelopes and lures the listener in as the beat subtly builds tension and release. complementing the core elements of the track, crisp drum fills and bell chimes pierce through the mix while a hypnotic repeating synth line wont let you wake up. ghostly vocals channeling the sounds of long past soul singers, add an unexpected but welcome house element. specifically geared for that time of the night when you want to add a wtf moment.

danish duo laid back made a most surprising comeback to the clubs in 2010 with >cocaine cool<. not that they had ever been really forgotten: their electro pop classic >white horse< remained a sure shot in clubs for the thirty years after its release 30 years back and a constant inspiration to boatload of diverse artists from techno to hip-hop. >cocaine cool< was recorded at the same session but the ironic vocals ridiculing label executives blowing up their frail ego with the chemical substance were deemed to risquee at that time, so the recording collected dust in some box until last year. bostons >soul clap< another duo hailed as one of the hotest things in clubland known for their eclectic funk-rooted taste. they opt for a cool sparser arrangement leaving out the “white horse -like chords. a loose, dry electro funk beat, hpynotic one-note synth, few dub effects and additional vocoder vocals do the trick bravorously. besides an instrumental version theres also a harder jacking dub take sounding like early chicago house edits. and while the boys are add it they also re-edited another huge one from laid back: >baker man< that managed the unlikely balancing act of not only hitting it bigtime in the charts but also in the emerging balearic scene. this 12 inch is cool in every which way!

this debut release introduces everything deeper meaning stands for. full of trademark deep sounds from two of etokas finest artists, verano and paskal, who ramp up the atmosphere and slow down the tempo with two of the most unique tracks we have heard from either producer. both tracks explore that most difficult, beautiful and painful of emotions, love. add to this subject matter the warmth and feeling which can only be found on 12 inch slices of black wax, and you have something rather special indeed ...

new prog-trance kings myon and shane 54 are first up with their skillful progressive re-interpretation. the pair add lush strings to the original while keeping things chunky and melodic.

second installment on colourful has tobias linden, orange muse returning with some serious summer heat. the terrace mix with it’s euphoric piano hook and vocal chants against a funky backdrop will be perfect for those late decadent summer nights. the basement mix is an altogether different affair, stripping all the elements, featuring a raw synth hook to build the tension. bouncy with prominent percussion this mix still carries the uplifting, spiritual feel of the terrace mix. stepping up to remix is none other than the beats maestro himself, mr. kenny dope. drawing on the past, adding a splash of new, kenny comes really fresh on this one. raw, dry beats, deep bass drops and a sax hook to match the vox snippets - this is one piece of fierce floor action! add to that an instrumental and the colorful year of 2011 is in full gear– what else do you need?
