fina records welcome jad & the for a new ep that shows off the australian-born, berlin-based producer’s majestically melodic house sound. a special dub from 6th borough project makes this another essential release. before now jad & the has served up tracks of the year (‘strings that never win’ - mixmag 2017), fronted four piece live act mitzi—who played alongside the likes of nile rodgers—and also produced as jad & the ladyboy, all the while picking up fans like moxie and bradley zero. sonar kollektiv and toy tonics have put out his charming sounds before and this new one is another joyous offering. the feel good ‘2 getha (4 eva mix)’ kicks things of with old school drum breaks and loved-up vocals. big smeared pads, a new age melody and classic bassline line finish it off and carry you away to summery house heaven. ‘twist club’ then drops into lush deep house with a long legged bassline tumbling beneath organic drums. it’s a dreamy and romantic cut before ‘disco hold down’ has live sounding jazz drums, choppy vocals and rough edges that take you to the heart of a vibe-fulled basement party. delusions of grandeur’s 6th borough project serve up a dub that’s more stripped back and built on a big rubber bassline. jacking drums and a more rapturous vocal make it a truly steamy jam.

with a background as a promoter, dj, and producer going back to 1995, sammy goossens is a veteran par excellence in todays techno scene. starting off with production work on respected techno imprints like rotation, re-load, tresor, and r&s, he has spent time co-producing for legends like the suburban knight and managing jay haze’s contexterrior and tuning spork labels. alongside friend marcus vector, they started the toys for boys imprint in 2004 and put out a prolific string of releases from top minimal house names like quenum and jona while pushing forward their own careers as producers. now based in berlin and as active as ever, sierra sam honors caduceus records for our fourth release, featuring remixes from jacob korn, oliver deutschmann, and label head lad.

old friends quenum and lad are joining their forces for the 3rd time to make a beautiful trippy track called ithaca in reference to the greek poem of cavafy. this long melodic exposure is completely suitable for dance floors with strong and powerful bass groove mixed with subtle harmonies and melodic sequences. the track gives us this idea of a voyage full of adventure and full of discovery. and as the moral of the history says what is important in life is not the destination but the path. it is also true in music. think about it.
we have also the honor to have a beautiful remix of the master of the genre petar dundov. he borders with sublime with his interpretation of what ithaca should be ...

if we add a new label to electronic music, is it really needed, wasnt music originally unlabeled? - lads contemporary productions could be called anticipated techno, architect techno, or architechno. these two tracks are simply brilliant and beyond what i have heard to date. the way lad is building space procures the feeling to be part of the music, to be in it, swallowed by it. >isolate< and >bergvall< are just two hypnotizing masterpieces, transporting you into unknown and untamed territories. deep, soulful, cinematographic, intriguing, moving. my drug is music. from 2d to real 3d chills. vanina hänin woods, forests, deep and dark spaces, like if kubrick, kurosawa and marinetti would have gathered together to produce music, simply highly cinematographic and futuristic. lad builds up organic visions, redefying sound in such a personal way. definitively two superb, soulful, finely shaped and constructed electronic pieces which will undoubtedly make you dance the night away. the second chapter is a honest, loud and direct ode to the joy of queen bass. if you are searching for deep house and abstract minimal you should better pass your way.
dandy jack teams up with geneva fellows lad and quenum on the a side for what could be described as a tremendous and heavy ride into the catacombs of techno. sonja moonear has a slightly happier and smoother answer on the b side and challenges us with a long and percussive intro that leads into a melancholic twist. quenum and lad arent new to the electronic music and have been active over a decade. they have already been working together for labels like num and thema. sonja is dandys partner in crime as junction sm and ruta5s half head.

after 4 years of putting out various hit releases via thema, the mother ship, its first sub-label or satellite has come to be. we are proud to announce spacial! it will consist of various remix projects, outtakes and b-sides from the parent and digital labels this new realm will function as a showcase for some of the more esoteric creations from our ever expanding roster of artists. so for our first slab of black magic, we have lad from switzerland which is remixed by none other then mr. quenum for a peak time killah remake. to keep it deep we have monotron, a new comer from holland dropping a sensual builder that lacks no luster to muster you on the floor. on the flip side we gave the whole side to a remix by the man from the hills, mr. ernesto ferrerya remixing beaner of bar25. this monster takes us on some ill trippy ride into his private lil world of bass and organs. we feel this grouping is a nice crop of tracks to start off a new adventure, its all part of the bigger concept of developing a sound—a movement—an idea. remember though, this is only the beginning!
